FLYing - A new group of baby steppers begins – day 1

SAHMof1 · 23/09/2007 23:16

I am a SAHM of a 16 month old, and I am fed up of running around like a headless chicken, working hard on the house all day and having nothing to show for it. I need to get organised and reading the most recent group of FLYbabies has inspired me.

Monday ? day 1 ? Shine your sink

If you want to join me in my quest to free my house from CHAOS, say hi here!

Anyone with experience want to offer advice with this thread, please feel free to jump in too.

Hi SAHMof1, I'll gladly join. Whilst it is not complete chaos here, it is enough to drive me nuts at times.

Off to settle the baby and once she is asleep will deal with kitchen sink.

Flamesparrow · 24/09/2007 08:13

Hiya,

Experienced babystepper here and regular lapsed flybaby

I'm in.

numptysmummy · 24/09/2007 08:19

I'm really really in this time [embarrassed]
Least i'm starting on day 1!

SlightlyMadSweden · 24/09/2007 10:12

Good luck.... I am on day 31 of baby steps...it has been fab. I can't believe what a difference it has made to me. I don't do everything as I am a WOHM (when I don't have flu) but every little bit that you do do makes a massive difference.....good luck

FunkyGlassSlipper · 24/09/2007 10:24

I've just been through babysteps again and it really helps. I'll come back and encourage you every now and again. It takes at least a month to get really going so dont worry if it seems slow.

PeckaRolloverAgain · 24/09/2007 10:24

I am in

I am in!!!

FLIER · 24/09/2007 10:26

I'll start again with you too

SlightlyMadSweden · 24/09/2007 10:28

Yes reiterating that it seems slow to start. I think hte first week you spend shining your sink every day. DOn't try to do more as you will burn yourself out

Don't skip days though. The 'boring' days are there so that you spend time 'establishing' what you are already doing into your natural timetable without adding something new every single day.

charliecat · 24/09/2007 12:44

Ok, im in.

Countingthegreyhairs · 24/09/2007 12:46

Oh - so pleased to see this - please may I join?

Had intended to start with Jas & Co who are going great guns over on the other thread but owing to a couple of weeks of unexpected illness got left behind ...

Really want to get stuck in this time.

Thanks for starting this SAHMof1

glitterchick · 24/09/2007 13:18

CHAOS? I couldn't even let anyone into my car - got it sorted last week so I'm starting with my nightmare house today. Thanks SAHMof1. Good luck everyone - catch you all l8r.

LizaRose · 24/09/2007 13:20

Another lapsed flybaby here , see if I can keep it up this time!

trixymalixy · 24/09/2007 13:22

Ooh can I join?

i'm desperate to get my house in order too.

I have a bit of a problem with the first step though as my kitchen sink will never shine. Will getting it as clean is it's ever going to be do?

princessmel · 24/09/2007 13:26

I think I'm going to join. Will you tell us what we're supposed to do each day?

SuperMonkey · 24/09/2007 13:28

I'm in, got to give something a try!

hotcrossbunny · 24/09/2007 13:28

Oh yes please! I need all the help I can get

LadyOfWaffle · 24/09/2007 13:31

O O O O , can I join? I started the first group back in the day (I am Quootiepie) over a year ago, but fell off the wagon. It was the only thing that worked, and some bits still stick with me. I will probably do the sink tonight though, I am a SAHM to a 18 month old so it's pretty hectic here, and he hates me going into the kitchen for some reason!

mylastrolo · 24/09/2007 13:32

Hi I'm in too jas and gang going great guns with this hope didn't know how to get to previous ones.

right off to shine sink

hello to you all

princessmel · 24/09/2007 13:48

Hi, I've just done mine. It looks fab!!

Flamesparrow · 24/09/2007 14:19

Trixy - why won't it shine?

unglued · 24/09/2007 14:54

oooooohhhh this is for ME!

(does it work?)

numptysmummy · 24/09/2007 14:59

Hope so - my house is such a shed! I just can't organise myself. The sink shining seems a bit strange but like i said it's all about habit building.

LadyOfWaffle · 24/09/2007 15:01

unglued - it really does work, as long as you stick to it and dont think "oh, I can do piles more", rush and do it all at once, burn out then quit. It really is habit building.

SAHMof1 · 24/09/2007 15:03

Trixymalixy - how to shine your sink the FLYlady way here

OP posts:
Flamesparrow · 24/09/2007 15:04

It really does work.

The lady speaketh sense - just follow the steps. Don't do any more than that. It seems tediously slow but it works.

Sink shining is what holds it together with me - when I stop shining, the rest all crumbles.
