Hanging washing out at night?

Does anyone hang their washing out at night? And leave it out all night? Then it's dry in the morning? I've heard people doing this but don't know if it's somehow dirtier during the night or something? Hmm but would be great to hear people's opinions Grin

Well I do it. Mines out there right now. Only on MN have I ever known it to be a thing not to..spiders or something?🙄 🤷🏼‍♀️

ExpletiveDelighted · 24/04/2020 21:05

Yes, it's fine, I do it all the time.

SpongeBobJudgeyPants · 24/04/2020 21:08

It will get Darked On 😉

StormsDontLastForever · 24/04/2020 21:09

You can't leave washing overnight, it will get Darked on and spiders rub their willies on it.

Sickoffamilydrama · 24/04/2020 21:11

I have to do a MN tradition and tell you spiders might wipe their willies on it 🤣

Yorkshirelassie · 24/04/2020 21:11

Yep, since reading previous Mumsnet threads I can confirm it will get darked on Grin

cushioncovers · 24/04/2020 21:11

Yep I hang mine out at night

Pipandmum · 24/04/2020 21:11

I've accidentally left washing out and its always damp in the morning.

Sickoffamilydrama · 24/04/2020 21:11

No @c3pu was quicker than me!

TigerDroveAgain · 24/04/2020 21:13

Washing left out and rained on is Rainsweet apparently. And it does smell so much better

Maryann1975 · 24/04/2020 21:14

I have occasionally done this. I don’t like to do it and it makes me shudder a bit at what might happen to it, but if I know the morning is going to be a rush, it does help.

SquirtleSquad · 24/04/2020 21:18

That spider spunk Is hard to get out

frazzledasarock · 24/04/2020 21:20

DP always brings the washing in before dark, he always comes to tell me that the wash is going to get darker on and spiders will do unspeakable things to it. Then he goes off sniggering to himself and brings it in.

It’s become a household thing, but just between us.

GreyishDays · 24/04/2020 21:22

I don’t think it’ll be dry first thing. But it will in a few hours.

ChicChicChicChiclana · 24/04/2020 21:23

I do it if the forecast is dry for overnight. I don't want any colours hanging out in the full glare of the sun as they will fade. And I'm usually at my busiest in the morning with work and what-not so don't have time to hang it out early anyway.

Xiaoxiong · 24/04/2020 21:24

We use a pulley maid at home, but on holiday I often wash clothes in the evening and hang out overnight. They are a bit damp with dew first thing but they dry quickly when the sun comes up. Only danger in this country is that it might rain unexpectedly the next day and if you sleep in your washing will get wet again.

Fred578 · 24/04/2020 21:24

I came on to advise you not to do this as it will get darked on and spiders will wipe their willies on your washing. Sadly though, I can see others have beaten me to it

Sally2791 · 24/04/2020 21:28

I’m afraid to say mine goes out at any hour and only comes in when there’s room for it. This may be after multiple darkings and spider rubs. We’re all still fine

sundodger · 24/04/2020 21:30

It's the idea of bats flying around near the washing at night that gives me the creeps.

inwood · 24/04/2020 21:44

Oh no I just can't do it. I just can't. When I have left it out by mistake I have to get it and rehash it. I'm normally pretty blasé, but spider willies on washing, nope.

Looneytune253 · 24/04/2020 21:47

I find it gets wetter overnight so it's pointless to me

Getitdonesharpish · 24/04/2020 21:50

Foxes would get ours.

Grandmi · 24/04/2020 21:50

Yes regularly. If forecast good for next day I hang it out in the evening and it is dry by 11ish next day.

UAEMum · 24/04/2020 21:50

Because it is too bloody hot out here to stand and hang washing during the day, i always put minw out in the evening and leave it til the following evening to bring it in. I dont know how many spiders have had their ends away on it, but its usually unstained.
