Festive fledglings flying through December - the Flylady thread

Welcome to the December (dare I say the Christmas?!) Flylady thread. This is a really lovely thread where we loosely follow the Flylady system (see the Flylady website ) in the hope of having organised homes and lives.

Every day I will post a link to the launchpad which has everything you need for that day if you do want to follow the system strictly. Plenty of options to follow the system more loosely as well :).

Please do familiarise yourself with the Flylady website, especially if you are new. The Flylady is (understandably) keen that people do look at the website.

On the website there is information for beginners. You can also sign up to the Flylady emails but we would advise not to as there are hundreds of them.

We post our achievements (ta das) and our to do lists and any other general chatter about life / flying.

Information on getting started: www.flylady.net/d/getting-started/

The launch pad is also a good starting place:www.flylady.net/c/lp.php

Fly stands for Finally Loving Yourself. The general idea is that short bursts of tidying / organisation are more achievable than marathon efforts. Flylady advises 15 minute bursts is effort but you can tweak this to fit your own circumstances.

Be kind to yourselves, jump in where you are and be careful not to crash and burn!

Any newbies are very welcome Smile.

**
Flylady also does Christmas missions which I will link to each day. They are really useful and nearer the time she does super missions which help you if you have not managed the regular missions. They are just there to help and as Flylady says... do not worry as you do not need to catch up, just jump in where you are Smile.

Link to the holiday cruising is

here

December’s habit is usually [[http://www.flylady.net/d/habits-of-the-month/december/
pampering yourself]] which is much needed this busy time of year. This can be as simple as taking two minutes to have a cup of tea, if long pampering sessions are unachievable.

The website will update to the December missions etc in the next few days so I will link it again if it is different.

*
A daily summary (which should update automatically every day) is available on the Flylady website at flight plan here.

The link to the current zone and missions is [[http://www.flylady.net/c/sp.php#missions here].

Re. zones, do what works for you. I don’t always stick to the zones myself and do what works best at the time!

The best place to look for an overall summary is the launch pad.

Happy flying everyone.

Please note that while there is lots of information on the website, from a security point of view we would advise caution with putting any personal details in or downloading anything.

Also a huge thank you to Ghoulette for the November thread.

ive I've only watched Home Alone for the first time this year (!!) so delighted to get the reference. If I hadn't I'd have taken it as an ive term of affection anyway - yes it's lovely to have friends on here who can't see the state of my house

Bower - wise words. I think at this time we remember those who are not here and it's very bitter sweet.

You'd think Chez Lisette we'd be eating croissants and pastries for Christmas morning but we are trying to leave room for Christmas dinner at 3pm so just some smoked salmon and two tiny marzipan sweets for me.

I know the season is about more important things than gifts but I am delighted to say that I got a gift from dh of a little wooden box containing TURKISH DELIGHT. I am safe from the White Witch for some time. I also got a little book on how the Japanese think culturally and how they approach child rearing, social interaction etc All really interesting (thought of Laputa and anime)

Tinselette1940 · 25/12/2019 11:33

ive You been smooching everybody! Snuffy, Al, Leo... Little Moe with the gimpy leg, Cheeks, Boney Bob, Cliff... I could go on forever, baby

Xmas Grin
LivingInLaputa · 25/12/2019 12:55

My kids aren’t fussed by Home Alone :( I want to watch it!

Having a lovely chilled day here. Just playing with toys.

Bower Thanks

TooStressyTooMessy · 25/12/2019 15:12

Turkish delight is an important thing Tinselette Xmas Grin.

Ta da:-
Christmas lunch eaten
All kids’ presents opened
Nearly got living room tidied so we can now mess it up again!
DH tidying up kitchen
C at’s presents are stacked up since as usual she has no interest in them Xmas Grin. We mainly get her food as she really doesn’t care about most toys although DDs chose her a small toy this year.

To do:-
Phone calls / texts etc. Not phoned anyone yet. Need to psych myself up to phone my parents. Will have some more wine first Xmas Grin.
Possibly play some board games and hope they don’t end in tears. I / Santa got a Christmas board game for them in the hope of making it a nice Christmas tradition to fight play.
Really hoping to sit and watch telly at some stage but that might have to be later.
Possibly look into tidying a bit of wrapping stuff away.
Need to make DD2’s bed (sheets in wash) as she ate chocolate coins in it this morning Xmas Hmm.
Laundry (obviously).

Anyone still struggling... keep going! It is Christmas Day and we got there, even if it’s not perfect.

If possible get yourself a Brew, Wine or Cake and take 2 minutes to yourself.

Laputa, I can’t get my kids to watch anything Christmassy either. I have given up and just watch stuff on my own if I want to!

ChristmasCroissant · 25/12/2019 15:14

Merry Christmas everyone! It's a lovely day here, DH and DD relaxing and playing with stuff. We all still have presents to open and have eaten lunch and I've drunk a fair bit of prosecco and bucks fizz

Ignoring the washing up for a bit, I lined all the trays with tinfoil to make it easier and kept up with the washing up during food prep - so it's not too bad.

It would be a good idea to make a large pot of coffee now ....

LivingInLaputa · 25/12/2019 15:15

Oh no! We have several things that we absolutely have to watch over the festive season - mr bean, elf, vicar of dibley for example :o

Cagletini is asleep again luckily. She’s in a vile mood! Snotty and probably a bit overwhelmed with toys. We didn’t go overboard but it’s still a few new things in one day!

Nobody wanted to go on a festive walk. They’ve agreed that can be a Boxing Day thing

ChristmasCroissant · 25/12/2019 15:17

I've never seen Home Alond Xmas Blush

ExpletiveFairylighted · 25/12/2019 15:21

I've never seen Home Alone either, or most Christmas films, DS and I don't seem to have the attention span for an entire film and DH/DD prefer superheroes, Harry Potter etc. Also we spend most evenings with the darts on. We do all watch The Muppets Christmas Carol though. Everything else tends to be just whatever is on when we want to watch something.

Just finished lunch, I cooked so the others are clearing up.

Stilllivinginazoo · 25/12/2019 15:27

Merry Xmas everyone!!
I flopped into bed at 11 last night having done most what needed doing

Laputa we having a low key Xmas, still a jammies.its been very chilled and D's/dd2 prefer it this way.ive washed new jammies for showers later

KTCluck · 25/12/2019 16:07

Merry Christmas all! We’ve had lunch, dessert and cheeseboard and are now chilling with champagne in front of the tv. I’ve set the first dishwasher lid off and hand washed a few items.

Living room is in chaos with presents. They’ll be going upstairs and homes found for them tomorrow.

I’m not sure why I put so much effort having the place immaculate for the living room, kitchen and dining room to be pretty much destroyed by 10am Grin

Hope you’ve all had a lovely day and get a chance to relax.

Tinselette1940 · 25/12/2019 16:59

Managed to get on the site using app

Tinselette1940 · 25/12/2019 16:59

A Christmas miracle ☃️🎅

ChristmasCroissant · 25/12/2019 20:09

Wow, the kits have a plush pad there zoo - I hope they enjoy it!

My own DD has never ever woken up early. She doesn't take after her mother in that respect on Christmas Day.

TooStressyTooMessy · 25/12/2019 20:26

That’s great Tinselette Xmas Smile.

What an awesome present for the cats zoo. We need to hear how they get on with it Xmas Smile.

I’ll post links in a bit but not remotely offended if nobody looks at them tonight.

Merry Christmas everyone! Thanks for the links, Stressy. Hope you all enjoyed your days. Fabulous new cat palace, zoo. Sorry Cagletini was overwhelmed Laputa - our DD once again managed a totally happy Christmas day apart from a minor wobble over a gift she was desperate for that's coming from my sister on Saturday. It just shows how far she's come in the last 9 months. Did your DD enjoy her KPop gifts?

We still weren't in bed before midnight last night because neither big DS had done any wrapping at all before 9pm, but Father Christmas visited successfully and put everyone's stocking in their room. The rustling and whispering on the landing started at 6.45 this morning, but I'd already been awake for an hour! Too excited to sleep.

Anyway, must thank you all for getting me to take up and stick with Flylady again - this was the most stressfree Christmas ever. The house started clean and tidy enough to stay clean and tidy with minimal effort today, and all the important things got done. I am now in the bath with my new bath bubbles and will shortly be in bed in my new pyjamas. Tomorrow we go to FIL's, which brings challenges of its own, but it's only a day. We can take it an hour at a time.

Happy Christmas Night!

Tinselette1940 · 25/12/2019 21:07

I've had a look at the links and I'm very happy with the holiday mission of sitting down with a hot drink might substitute wine !

Will need to tidy slightly tomorrow. Various Christmas hoards need to be moved to bedrooms.

It's been a lovely day. ( I'm stuffed)

TooStressyTooMessy · 25/12/2019 21:11

I am just waiting for DDs to go to sleep then fully intend to sit down with a Bailey’s. I never really sit down and relax... I do watch a lot of telly / YouTube etc but will be pottering doing stuff while it is on. Tonight though... sod it. I deserve it Xmas Grin. Hoping to do a calendar check first though as I have barely written anything in it this week and I always feel quite unsettled when that is the case.

After Christmas I need to order a bar or doll for DD2 as the one Santa delivered (found a ‘bargain’ £2.99 one in a local shop) broke as soon as she touched it Xmas Angry. So in a bid to save money I have just wasted it. Never mind.

We watched Gavin and Stacey with a beer and a sandwich. It was immense Xmas Grin .
