Today's mission

Kelly should do one just for me that says 'Today's hotspot is your house'

I won't be around for the next few days. It's DH's 40th tomorrow and he's taking a long weekend. I'll pop back when I can but I thought I'd make myself useful and start the thread.

So I hope you all have a good few days, that sick los get well soon and you have great weekends

Off to ice a chocolate fudge cake xxx

gibberish My house always benefits after a row too! Mainly because dh goes out, and I just tidy angrily!
I do hope you can get the kitchen sorted soon, it must be stressful.

shouldbe · 25/07/2007 16:17

thanks ( I think...)

Dd and ds are now playing nicely downstairs while I "finish running the bath". It was ready a few minutes ago but I'm enjoying some solutude so won't call them for a few minutes yet...

Hopefully a good nights sleep will sort them out.

shouldbe · 25/07/2007 16:18

I echo what Luda says gibberish Hope it all sorts out soon x

ludaloo · 25/07/2007 16:23

I hope the bath calms them both down a bit.... They both do sound quite tired. It has been a long term at school, I suspect a bit of rest and no pressure of the school routine will help

gibberish · 25/07/2007 16:25

Thanks luda and shouldbe. It may be finished this time next year If I could at least see light at the end of the tunnel I wouldn't mind quite so much. But weeks of nothing happening is driving me nuts. And if I dare mention it ofcourse I am nagging Aaarrggh!

gibberish i feel for you, my cupboard doors have been sat in the hallway for about 4 weeks now, and the paint, Im still waiting ! Still DF has a week off work in two weeks so Im gonna push for it to be done then!

gibberish · 25/07/2007 16:35

Aaw julez, you have my sympathies. It's so frustrating isn't it?

If I could do it myself I would... Worst thing is - I've still got the upstairs bathroom to do so got to go through the whole thing again! Have decided to get people in to do it though - not having this havoc for months again.

Okay. Cuppa finished - off upstairs for real this time lol. And am not coming back down until it is done!

yaddayah · 25/07/2007 16:55

sneaks back whilst gibberish is upstairs.. not sure my kitchen would merit the white glove , but its better than before

SUNFLOWER ALERT

We have a sunflower !!!! Its about the size of my hand so looks really stooopid as its on a 7 foot plant but still ! The dc's were so excited (and sadly so was I )

Julez: congrats on the 1st word (mine both said dad as well (ds's 3rd or 4th word was light as well .. I thought it odd at the time too !)

Sympathies for kitchens/rows/illies

Don't you just love the summer holidays
(just started raining again here)

Aufish · 25/07/2007 17:31

Good afternoon girls. Not been on today as my DP let me have a really long lie in this morning and then discovered that I had my application form sent through for job I want so I have spent all day sorting that out and then went into town to hand it in. Keep your fingers crossed for me as I really want and need this job!

It's been busy on here today. Hope everybody is well.

Tort Happy Birthday to your DD!

gibberish · 25/07/2007 17:33

lol yaddayah Had to come back down - forgot I needed to feed people

CONGRATULATIONS on the birth of your sunflower!!!!! What are you going to call it?

I really regret not planting seeds - I have sunflower envy now

gibberish · 25/07/2007 17:34

Ooooh hope you get the job Aufish

julezboo · 25/07/2007 17:34

yaddah yay for sunflower!!!

DF is giving someone a lift home so will be late. So havnt bothered starting tea yet. Will do soon though.

DS is in his room playing with his cars and baby ds is having nakey time on the floor screeching (not crying screeching i promise!) He's gonna give himself a sore throat!

Ive just put my 5th load of washing on, still have 1 to do i really think someone is sneaking in and giving me their washing ! Still the rest of the house is tidy just need to hoover upstairs

Ive been good today flying I think and DF better make a nice comment when he walks in else he'll be getting the mop up his behind

julezboo · 25/07/2007 17:36

aufish good luck for the Job, I hope you get it!

gibberish how dare these people want feeding

gibberish · 25/07/2007 20:00

lol julez I know. People expecting to eat is just so inconvenient to my routine!!

Did your dh have a close encounter with the broom then?

Ooooooooh got to tell everyone - my sister and her hubby popped in to see me tonight. She left about 20 mins ago and phoned me as soon as she got home. Her waters broke whilst she was on my couch but she wasn't sure so didn't mention it So excited!!!!!!! Oh, she is pregnant by the way - didn't I mention that small point? Imagine my sis going into labour in my house! And I'm the first one to know!! Am more excited about her going into labour than I was about myself!

gibberish · 25/07/2007 20:01

And this is her first so we may have a new MNer soon

julezboo · 25/07/2007 20:16

Ohhh gibberish how exciting!!! I had sections both times so didnt get to do that exciting part!!!

DF commented on how lovely the house was so he escaped the broom today !

DS baby however has peed on me 3 times in the last 2 hours! Running myself a bath now and settling to watch heroes!

gibberish · 25/07/2007 20:23

Lovely - the bath, not the weeing Enjoy - you have definitely deserved it! And good for dh too - he obviously knows you well lol

FunkyGlassSlipper · 25/07/2007 20:30

Good luck to Gibberish's sister

FunkyGlassSlipper · 25/07/2007 20:30

See....I am lurking but so inept at housework while DH is away and Dds driving my nuts I'm not posting much.,..

tortoise · 25/07/2007 20:30

Hello.
Thanks for all birthday wishes for DD2. She has had a great day and loves her new digger,
The cake i made was scrummy! might have to sneak an extra piece once DC are all in bed!
hope poorly ones are better and all have had a good day.
Shouldbe I had to have a little laugh at your dramatic afternoon.

tortoise · 25/07/2007 20:31

gibberish How exciting. Good luck to her. Hope your sofa isn't wet!

gibberish · 25/07/2007 20:32

Hi tort Glad you and dd2 had a good day. And if you can't sneak an extra piece of cake that you have made, when can you?

Thanks GS. Liking the new name

gibberish · 25/07/2007 20:36

lol tort That was what she was worried about She's off to the hospital now to be checked out. But as she isn't having any pains yet, just very faint period like aches, she should hopefully be sent home for a while. Keep thinking 'How exciting' 'Oh what a shame' 'How EXCITING!' 'Oh what a shame' lol. She doesn't know what she's heading for poor thing...

Jas · 25/07/2007 20:37

There were lots of things I wanted to reply to but I will probably forget, so sorry in advance but I will probably keep popping in and adding more.

Yaddah I have sunflowers, but I bought short variety so they are pretty but not impressive. I will take a picture if it ever stops raining.

gibberish - Is your dp doing your kitche? Big mistake. Mine did ours ten years ago. I have ONE double socket, (Its a kitchen ffs, you need power)and missing tiles. I am missing two cupboard doors and have nothing under the sink to hide all the stuff I keep there.
at your done list. Rage is definitely good for the housework.

Yay! for first word. DD2 didn't speak for ages, but went straight to sentances (I'm not sharing being her first!) DS says mummy and no mostly. It is odd as the girls called me by my name until they started school.

I like the name FGS

Generally if your house is spotless and tidy, you don't need to FLY, so you are probably in the right place.
