Welcome to the thread where we (loosely) follow the Flylady housekeeping system here to combat CHAOS (can't have anyone over syndrome) with a load of wine, chat and mutual support along the way. Quite a few of us have been on here for a while, so for that reason, we may seem cliquey, but we really aren't, and all newcomers, lurkers, returnees, regulars, and intermittent regulars are very welcome!

Every day I will post a link to the activities for "Today" which summarises everything you need on a daily basis if you want to follow the system strictly, but we tend to adapt it to suit our individual circumstances, homes and energy-levels!

Please note that, athough Flylady is keen for us to check in to the website, we've recently had a few concerns wrt security, so although there is lots of useful info on the site, it's best not download it or put any of your personal details into the website for now.

More information on getting started available:
here (containing baby-steps!) but please don't hesitate to ask if you have any further qs.

There are 4 levels for Flying:
-Baby steps - good for starting a routine and overcoming the perfection crippling effect
-Baby steps and missions - basic routine + more in depth tasks
-Baby steps, missions, and deep cleaning (if you are at that stage).
You can't clean clutter so don't consider this one if you need the next level.
-Flying combined with a decluttering system (kondo/unfuck etc etc) let's be honest fly lady is good for routine but not so quick with the decluttering results sometimes.

There is NO wrong or right way of doing this, it is about adapting the system to suit your life circumstances, which will be different from someone else's, and don't be put off by the barftastically twee nature of the Flylady site, the underlying system is sound. Feel free to ignore any step or routine that doesn't suit you or your home! No perfectionism allowed!

And when it all gets too much: come and take a seat by the fire in our specially adapted "naughty" corner where you can enjoy virtual Cake and Wine and lots of support from fellow fledglings.

More info follows ( but again, please note we advise only looking at the pdfs and not downloading them ):

** launch pad (general info) here

** daily babysteps pdf (ignore the ones that don't suit you or your home) here

** week day missions (some fledglings find it easier to do them at weekends) here

** info about zones (explanation of how zones work) here

** weekly zones (a rough weekly guide to which area of the house we are tackling currently, again adapt to suit yourself) here

** daily focus (helpful guide to allocate a certain day for a certain task) here

** deep cleaning lists pdf (only attempt when you have decluttered as you can't clean clutter!) here

Good luck and happy Flying one and all!

Morning all! Lovely sunny day here so laundry it is! I have lots that I need to wash and dry and this is the perfect day for it.

Another early start for DD this morning, so I have had a lovely breakfast from Costa sitting in a chair by the patio doors with a view of the garden, and have been food shopping.

zoo get some medical advice about your arm/elbow - that really doesn't sound good. Bower ugh about work - what can I say. When does the new Head start not soon enough

Shadycorner · 10/05/2019 19:04

Quite a good day by my low standards atm!

Ta da:
empty DW/shone sink/kitchen surfaces and cleared/wiped fridge etc
s & s
dog walk
hung up overnight washing
fed wms again
quick supermarket shop
pre-prepped supper - hake parchment parcels with veg, new pots and dill
cleaner away so did brief Fri home blessing (not beds)
cobbled together two flower arrangements from garden
friend popped around for quick coffee
lunch for DD (made chicken noodle soup)
20 mins cleaning out cars/handbags/purses
went to insurance company to pick up form

ran DD to docs to get a certificate - it's flu not a cold - and there's a lot of it about apparently
chemist and post office to pick up parcel on way home
bit of meal planning/life planning
brought in washing
hung up second two loads again

Didn't do anything in boudoir which is still a pit Blush

To do:
Tired now and furries are looking at me intently again. Unfair to leave second walk to DH for when he's back from his trip. Think it's going to have to be once around the block followed by ball game in garden.
Cook, serve and clear up supper (fish in oven now)
Overnight washing in.

Have a good w/e everyone!

Wow sc that's an amazing list! 🌟 for you!

I have had a reasonably productive day, did my bag and purse (not the car that's such hard work!) , did a few bits in the kitchen, went for a long walk with ds , did an hour or so of work and all the usual daily routine stuff.

Had a call from dd school at lunchtime to say she'd fallen down some steps and hit her nose, it was bleeding and swollen and they thought it looked wonky Shock. I was a bit worried but then they phoned back to say she was adamant she wanted her fish and chips so didn't want me to come Grin . Anyway, apparently the swelling then started to subside and they said if I was happy then they'd keep an eye on her. As it was only a few hours until pick up I said fine. And her nose looks fine now, definitely not wonky but a big bruise poor thing Sad

When she got home she said it was great fun because she got to eat it in the classroom with her friend.

Ds has done a full day in pants today with not one accident! But still refusing to poo on the toilet. Ah well.

foxessocks · 10/05/2019 19:12

My wine and chocolate delivery has arrived (dh!)

Have a lovely weekend everybody!

Cagliostro · 10/05/2019 19:15

Hoping zoo is getting some arm related help!

Quiet here today.

Only home ed achieved here today really but I did also write some rough routines for morning/lunch/bedtime to discuss with DH to hopefully print and stick on the door. Just to bring a little routine to the chaos.

Also got the Caglets to write down the foods they’d deign to actually eat for lunch Hmm so I can have some plans in place.

Cagliostro · 10/05/2019 19:16

Ohhhh and the mini fruit trees that DH ordered arrived so he planted them. Cagletini had a great time running about the garden in just a nappy and getting muddy!

foxessocks · 10/05/2019 20:05

Yes hope zoo is ok!

Stilllivinginazoo · 10/05/2019 20:38

What a day!
Rang doc at 8,saw at 11
As can't literally let it hang by my side or move it without tears he poked shoulder.(I near near scream) he sent straight a+e suspected dislocation!!

Four x-rays later, each one becoming increasingly distressing as try manipulate my arm decide not the case and send a+e to org physio/aftercare...

Few hours there.nurse with face like hatchet grab it and yank it round til cried (wasn't convinced when said can't move it i can't)and snap paracetamol and ibuprofen.ice.try move it and app physio end month.see doc again end next week.put in sling so least got one free hand
I can't even put on jeans by myself as slight turn on shoulders excruciating, can't literally do anything and as dominant hand/arm I've managed spill food down myself try do it cack handedly

Cagliostro · 10/05/2019 20:54

OMG zoo that sounds like really crappy treatment, what do they actually think it is if not dislocation? My mum and DH have both had something called frozen shoulder in the past but this seems like it came on very suddenly so not sure if that’s a possibility.

I got out the laminator today to put some Japanese stuff up. Still need to discuss routines with DH so I can put them up too.

Stilllivinginazoo · 10/05/2019 20:56

"soft tissue injury" such as frozen shoulder, torn ligaments, pulled muscle etc
Who knew a nap on sofa so dangerous!!

TooStressyTooMessy · 10/05/2019 20:56

Oh no zoo Shock! So glad you got it seen though as it sounds as if you will definitely need it seeing again next week and the physio and at least they had a good look at it. Is it like a frozen shoulder type thing? It sounds as if DP is helping is he? FlowersFlowersFlowersFlowers.

foxes, ERIC have a good website and advice for reluctant poo-ers there if you google them.

Sorry, have been AWOL as got sucked into a few medical / work type threads. I usually don’t comment but felt I had to on these ones!

Did massive calendar check today and planned ahead a bit for the summer holidays.

TooStressyTooMessy · 10/05/2019 20:57

Xposted with you zoo, that makes sense.

Thanks for links SC and hello to everyone else Smile.

Bowerbird5 · 10/05/2019 22:30

💐🍰zoo ouch. Sounds a bit rough to me to. I did scream once when osteopath tried to put my shoulder back in. It is still out as I had to have an X-ray not long ago when I fell and tore ankle ligaments. I went to have a shower. Accidents in the home are a high percentage.

Work easier today as a different timetable. We trialled a new TA too. I might have stopped off at Lidl and bought some yummy things to eat including chocolate and raspberry. Had smoked trout, prawns and haddock for tea.
In bed early that is three times this week by 9.30pm. 😖

Shadycorner · 11/05/2019 00:49

🌼 launch pad link here including Sat flight plan! (Best to read and not download.)

Morning all

Zoo hopefully this makes your dp pull his finger out!

ChicCroissant · 11/05/2019 07:10

Blimey zoo, I almost regret telling you to get medical advice because that's not the consultation I was hoping for - hope you are OK!

Quick hello, DD's laptop still having issues so will have to share mine with her for a bit! That will help with the ironing as I won't get on it as much although it will also be a good reason for her to use it less as well!

Did lots of laundry (again!) yesterday so will iron that today, drop bag at jumble sale any time from 9.00am, take DD to activity this morning and general weekend stuff! Weather is a bit gloomy today but tomorrow is supposed to be good.

Have a lovely Saturday, fledglings!

Shadycorner · 11/05/2019 08:01

Good morning all!

You too Chic and wot I've said Zoo! Hope your shoulder unfreezes itself very soon! Flowers. Hopefully a good physio will see you right! Sympathies though 'cos I still remember the pain from about 14 yrs ago, It's so awful! [flower]

Glad work was a little easier yesterday Bower!

Well done re:calendar check Toostressy!

Cag Ooh love the sound of the mini fruit trees!

DD is v much in to her Japanese ATM! This always happens when the pressure of exam time kicks in, she disappears down a thousand rabbit holes of self study focusing on everything but the revision she is meant to be doing! Found her the other day reading Dante's Inferno "for fun" apparently! Confused.

Hope DD Foxcub ok after her fall yesterday Foxes? Glad no lasting effects anyway bless her 🐻.

Waves to Lisette and everyone else!

Dh's plane was delayed last night and it was after 11pm when he made it through the front door. I seem to have ecaught Dd''s flu and managed to cough all night from beginning to end apart from an hour or so in the middle. Feel wretched this morning and woke up with a throat of glass shards. Meant to be going to country but only DH amd the furries up for it currently. Bum.

Wishing all fledglings a productive Saturday! And hope you can have some family fun! Allons-y mes amies!

Thanks sc she is fine Smile
Hope you feel better soon and you continue to be looked after Flowers

I've been at a children's birthday party for most of the day it feels like...it was three hours long! Good party though tbf!

Stilllivinginazoo · 11/05/2019 15:55

I've discovered typing with left hand into mobile takes lots time and effort (do it in my sleep with right hand)

I am a messy eater with left hand also

Feeling grumpy,frustrated and in pain

Dp now back at work for few days.he took us pick up few more shopping bits, took lil zoo ballet class, having collect her from sleepover, help me shower, brush my hair and put in ponytail and let me sleep against him whilst held ice on offending arm(so bloody tiredSad)
Dd2 is a complete legend having taken littertray duties, making lunch, helping shopping and couple clearing up tasks(with continuous instructions)considering 15 ,normally doesn't have lift finger except carry bags when we shop, and about start GCSE mocks shortly I just want to say she's amazing!!Star

Cagliostro · 11/05/2019 17:37

Aww well done DD2 ⭐️

Sorry about all the illness and injury.

I’ve had a crappy unproductive day, feeling headachy and generally rubbish. I don’t feel up for anything gym related today (and there are major road closures tomorrow due to a local run) and yet can’t help but wonder if it’s lack of exercise that’s made me feel so rubbish! It does me good when I manage it.

Meh. Big old pile of meh.

Lisette1940 · 11/05/2019 17:50

Cags I think it's the weather that's causing headaches right now. Headachy myself.

Well done zoodd2.

Doing swish and swipe and quick upstairs Hoover.

Shadycorner · 11/05/2019 20:40

Yes DH often says he has weather headaches.

It’s not shifted at all 😡 feel a little better after a nice veg filled (deliveroo) takeaway though 😳

And we’ve meal planned lunches and dinners for the next few days, and agreed we will henceforth have Tesco deliveries on sundays and wednesdays. Hoping that consistency will help!

Must do that damn ikea order now.
