Welcome to the thread where we (loosely) follow the Flylady housekeeping system here to combat CHAOS (can't have anyone over syndrome) with a load of wine, chat and mutual support along the way. Quite a few of us have been on here for a while, so for that reason, we may seem cliquey, but we really aren't, and all newcomers, lurkers, returnees, regulars, and intermittent regulars are very welcome!

Every day I will post a link to the activities for "Today" which summarises everything you need on a daily basis if you want to follow the system strictly, but we tend to adapt it to suit our individual circumstances, homes and energy-levels!

Please note that, athough Flylady is keen for us to check in to the website, we've recently had a few concerns wrt security, so although there is lots of useful info on the site, it's best not download it or put any of your personal details into the website for now.

More information on getting started available:
here (containing baby-steps!) but please don't hesitate to ask if you have any further qs.

There are 4 levels for Flying:
-Baby steps - good for starting a routine and overcoming the perfection crippling effect
-Baby steps and missions - basic routine + more in depth tasks
-Baby steps, missions, and deep cleaning (if you are at that stage).
You can't clean clutter so don't consider this one if you need the next level.
-Flying combined with a decluttering system (kondo/unfuck etc etc) let's be honest fly lady is good for routine but not so quick with the decluttering results sometimes.

There is NO wrong or right way of doing this, it is about adapting the system to suit your life circumstances, which will be different from someone else's, and don't be put off by the barftastically twee nature of the Flylady site, the underlying system is sound. Feel free to ignore any step or routine that doesn't suit you or your home! No perfectionism allowed!

And when it all gets too much: come and take a seat by the fire in our specially adapted "naughty" corner where you can enjoy virtual Cake and Wine and lots of support from fellow fledglings.

More info follows ( but again, please note we advise only looking at the pdfs and not downloading them ):

** launch pad (general info) here

** daily babysteps pdf (ignore the ones that don't suit you or your home) here

** week day missions (some fledglings find it easier to do them at weekends) here

** info about zones (explanation of how zones work) here

** weekly zones (a rough weekly guide to which area of the house we are tackling currently, again adapt to suit yourself) here

** daily focus (helpful guide to allocate a certain day for a certain task) here

** deep cleaning lists pdf (only attempt when you have decluttered as you can't clean clutter!) here

Good luck and happy Flying one and all!

Back from meeting. Thanks for kind wishes. It didn't go terribly well from my perspective unfortunately. I couldn't understand half of the French and all the builder chaps spoke over me constantly and started arguing between themselves at one point, and ridiculous and wet though it sounds, I sort of felt ganged up on and intimidated (even though we are the client/the ones paying!). Really stressful. Setting back feminism 50 yrs by saying this Blush but I hope I never have to do that again without dh present.

Zoo luv, where's the teapot? (Although judging from your posts, I think you are in need of a cuppa! Great list! Hope your shoulder ok. Take it steady!)

Glad your DD is back safely Chic! Sorry about teen moodiness, I wish I could say it gets better Confused

Well done re: games decluttering Cag and glad throat ok!
Y Y to the embarrassment of unexpected tradesmen! I always try the "inscrutable face, no I haven't been burgled, why ever would you think that?" expression Wink

Aye Lisette I have reluctantly come to the same conclusion about moving and old age!

Waves to Toostressy and to everyone else!

On the positive side, came back home (after school chucking out time) to text saying that DD and her boyfriend were in the office meeting room eating pizza! When I schlepped over there and asked DD what the jeff she thought she was doing, she replied "well I know I am not allowed to be home alone with x without you or Dad present. And x is helping me with maths ...". Couldn't fault her reasoning Grin Grin and luckily no clients in office today! Phew!

Another positive: CBA to cook tonight and there is lots of pizza left! Wink

Ha, well, rather cheeky but at least not alone in the house I suppose :o but awww young love :o

I’m quite unmotivated today as had another anxiety attack. I don’t go full on hyperventilating etc it just builds up in my head and my chest, I took some beta blockers again (also reminded DH that if he sees me taking them/asking for some, I NEED A DAMN HUG! As I don’t generally verbalise anxiety especially in front of the Caglets) but still don’t feel quite right.

We are running out of space upstairs for sorted games so I think I’m going to have to bite the bullet and list the complete games I’ve already cleaned up, before continuing (even though surprisingly I’m actually really enjoying the process of choosing sorting things to sell). No idea if I’ll have any luck anyway as some are pretty obscure, so I’ll have to decide how hard to try. I really don’t want to risk eBay as all I read are selling nightmares.

Right I’d better go upstairs to sort out the last couple that are already up there.

Zoo, cag weeps at images posted 🤣.

Sorry to hear about meeting SC. You were outnumbered so don't feel bad about wanting backup.

Cagliostro · 28/05/2019 18:51

Thanks lovelies. Rain has cleared so I think I might try and get out for a bit... even if just walking to Tesco for chocolate! (And baby wipes as we need some anyway!)

SC I think many would be upset and intimidated in that position even without the language barrier! Thanks

Shadycorner · 28/05/2019 19:03

Thanks all! It would have been nice to feel like a competent adult for once (and report back that all had gone well to dh) but never mind ... .

Should be Flying but I am sat on sofa doing zilch!

Well I have sorted 20 items ready to list and sell ASAP and packed up the incomplete few to consider. Still more downstairs to sort out too but I’ll get to them in a few days I think.

Also went to Tesco (small one) and was super classy and sat outside on the bench eating a magnum enjoying the peace :o

And replied to some texts so I got my anti procrastinating in a day early.

I made some phone calls earlier too. Including booking my free hearing test, which surprisingly is on Thursday!

Stilllivinginazoo · 29/05/2019 05:25

Well done cag
SC I'd have felt intimidated by thatFlowers

Cagliostro · 29/05/2019 06:06

Cagletini has been awake since 3am. I’ve given up and put Pocoyo on.

Shadycorner · 29/05/2019 08:39

Good morning all!

Tense start to the day. Snippy phone conversation this morning with DH re: yesterday's meeting and holiday planning or lack of it. And DD very tense ahead of first (written) maths paper which she is convinced she is going to fail. Sad

[sigh]

Does anyone else ever dream of going by yourself and living in a remote - tidy - cottage with roses around the door and just sheep for company? Confused

Brew for Cag Waves to Zoo!

I am late starting this morning (tired). Need to do office work AND do lots of Flying before departing to wreck2 again (half school day today and Asencion holiday tomorrow). Argh! Don't have time to do both. Knew I should have Flown last night! Failed again!

OP posts:
Stilllivinginazoo · 29/05/2019 09:09

Does that answer the question SC?
Hope maths paper goes ok.guess DH will get head out of his bum eventually they always do..
As for flying fail you can't do EVERYTHING.if things don't all get done don't beat yourself up over it

I fear I may be setting my shoulder into another flare up,it's sore and tight/restricted movement today...I've not got time for it as right now place a tip,D's stressing over patchy ceiling colour and dd2 will be back later and whilst will have had great time may well be antsy as lack sleep turns her into a fire breathing dragon

At least I realised D's used all bath towels up last night and I've put another load in or we would be living in smouldering ashes later when she exploded with wrath at idea of a shower with selection hand towels to dry her ample flesh with!!

Shadycorner · 29/05/2019 09:39

Meet you at the bus stop Zoo! Grin.

Is ds able to help you paint? What I mean to say is, might it lessen his anxiety if he is able to join in?

Take care of that shoulder!

I am late to this party but very much in need of this in my life. Currently obsessed with looking on rightmove as I feel the only way out of this mess is moving somewhere with more room for crap.

I've brought wine and twiglets.

Shadycorner · 29/05/2019 09:55

Welcome Putsfootinit!

Any Qs, don't hesitate to ask! (For info about the system, see my post of yesterday to Mustshowdh at 06.43.)

OP posts:
Cagliostro · 29/05/2019 09:58

I’ll join you in the cottage as long as board games are allowed :o

Managed to grab 2 more hours sleep. Today’s achievements will be minimal.

Cagliostro · 29/05/2019 10:02

Welcome puts or would you prefer foot? Never too late to join our friendly thread! I must say moving has helped us a lot (our old house was tiny) but it’s definitely not a fix all... there’s just more space in between the mess now :o

Ah, twiglets. Regular Fledglings might remember my desperate hunt for them during my pregnancy with Cagletini. Tears were involved. Then a few weeks later I couldn’t stand to be in the same room as them! The twiglets that is, not Cagletini.

I could definitely eat some now though (categorically NOT a pregnancy craving this time).

Stilllivinginazoo · 29/05/2019 10:22

Hmmmmm twiglets

Stilllivinginazoo · 29/05/2019 10:23
