[santa][santa][santa][santa][santa][santa][santa]
A warm welcome to the December (dare I say Christmas?!) Flylady thread. This is a lovely friendly thread where we loosely follow the Flylady system (see the Flylady website ) in the hope of having organised homes and lives.

We are a long running thread but always welcome new members; the more the merrier Smile.

The new slimline structure seems to work well so I will stick with that. I will leave some links in this OP and then some quick links in the daily posts. Please do familiarise yourself with the Flylady website, especially if you are new. The Flylady is (understandably) keen that people do look at the website.

On the website there is information for beginners. You can also sign up to the Flylady emails but we would advise caution as there are hundreds of them.

We post our achievements (ta das) and our to do lists and any other general chatter about life / flying.

Information on getting started: www.flylady.net/d/getting-started/

The launch pad is also a good starting place:www.flylady.net/c/lp.php

Fly stands for Finally Loving Yourself. The general idea is that short bursts of tidying / organisation are more achievable than marathon efforts. Flylady advises 15 minute bursts is effort but you can tweak this to fit your own circumstances.

Be kind to yourselves, jump in where you are and be careful not to crash and burn! Especially at this time of year.

*
A daily summary (which should update automatically every day) is available on the Flylady website at flight plan here.

The link to the current zone and missions is here.

Re. zones, do what works for you. I don’t always stick to the zones myself and do what works best at the time, with varying degrees of success!

daily focus

missions for the week

Flykids mission

I’m sure I don’t need to tell anyone that it is getting close to Christmas so there are holiday missions here.

December’s habit is usually pampering yourself but has not uploaded yet; I’ll link it tomorrow.

beginner babysteps.

The best place to look for an overall summary is the launch pad.

Happy flying everyone.

Also a huge thank you to SC for a lovely November thread. FlowersCakeBrewWine

Merry Christmas!

Ds is having a tantrum upstairs because he was up so early (not because of Xmas because he was so snotty poor thing!)

Cagliostro · 25/12/2018 14:49

Hello folks, nice day so far, looking forward to dinner!

Caglets been playing loooooads with their stop motion kit. So so glad I went ahead with it.

SassitudeandSparkle · 25/12/2018 17:04

Merry Christmas everyone!

A lovely day here although I am struggling to keep my eyes open after only getting a few hours sleep last night (ongoing issue). Even coffee isn't doing the trick.

Calpol is hard to get out of carpets, I did the same thing. I got the mark out but we had to shampoo the carpet regularly as there must have been sticky residue and that spot used to collect dirt more than the rest of the carpet!

TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 25/12/2018 18:08

Well we are nearly all (DD1 just getting changed) in PJs here. Strictly is on although only DDs are watching it. I always want to sit down and watch these things with them but there always seems to be stuff to do e.g. the dishwasher has just finished so needs unloading so I can put another load in.

They are not usually very interested in lego but DD2 got a tiny bit in her stocking (a Lego comic as I had got DD1 a book she wanted so needed something to compare and we have so many books already at DD2’s level) which seems to have encouraged them. So I have got the Lego out. They got some money from a lovely relative for Xmas who specifically told them to spend it on what they wanted but hinted toys so they are wondering about getting some Lego now. Would be nicer than the usual toy tat.

Speaking of that, most Santa presents a success. I got DD2 a swimsuit in her stocking as she needed one anyway and she said it was too babyish to wear for lessons as it is a character one Xmas Shock. Tbh I rather like that: I love seeing them grow up. So that’s fine, it was cheap anyway and will do as an extra one for summertime.

Still the usual arguing, mess etc but I think Christmas with children can never be truly relaxing. Can it even with adults Xmas Grin?

Must go and check what they are doing, DH thankfully didn’t have to go back into work but is ill with a cold and cooked all the dinner which was ace. So trying to let him rest now. I’m having a cup of tea while sorting dishwasher and keeping an eye on Lego. Then I will pour a glass of wine Xmas Smile.

Pondering what to do tomorrow as we won’t get away with another day just in the house.

I’ll pop the links on later but as it is Christmas feel free to ignore all of them Xmas Grin.

Merry Christmas everyone!
Lovely relaxing day. Everyone happy with their presents. No travelling to relatives (that comes over the next few days), and the house isn't too bad.
Hope you are all having good days...

TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 25/12/2018 20:33

Oh that’s fab Eustacia, glad you had a good day.

Just looked at the time and it is Boxing Day so meant to get in before the day finished.
I was too to tired last night. I tried but I was falling asleep signing in!

So A belated Merry Christmas to you all.

After an exhausting day Christmas Eve where I didn’t stop until 3 pm for lunch I eventually got to sit down in Mass at 6:30 as I had to help dress children at 6 pm. Mass was lovely and I had to smile when most of choir were in casual clothing including me.
I then went to another Mass at another church because I was invited by a child at school. It will remain a special memory forever. After the Gospel the lights were turned off so just candlelight and two positioned spotlights. A tent covered and later fairy lights on it. Three adults and lots of children performed the Nativity. One or two hiccups which made people smile and a little girl about two was in awe.
The children’s were great. The angels were gorgeous and had sparklers when Jesus was born. Then the rest of Mass followed. The family were delighted I had gone especially the young lad. They are a European family and have a special place in my heart.
Then I went and picked DD up and home to bed.
I didn’t wake up until 8 so the kids next door must have been quiet.
My back was sore and waking up late I didn’t go to Mass today. I felt bad but as well. There is something quite special as I have known lots of parishioners for nearly thirty years.
So I cracked on with dinner prep. Visited my best friend to swap gifts then went up later to see her grandchildren and have a cuddle of the
new baby.
Meal was fine all worked well with new stove except DH kept going on about how big the turkey was until I snapped” well you wanted that size.” Otherwise all was well.
I watched Torvill and Dean which was gra

Bowerbird5 · 26/12/2018 00:59

Great as DD and I went to see them and unexpectedly on the night they performed the Bolero skate. I used to go figure skating when I was 7/8.

Enjoy today. A bit more rest hopefully.

Slightlycoddled · 26/12/2018 05:30

Morning all! Hope everyone had a lovely day yesterday and those who were poorly, are feeling better today!

Our Christmas was unexpectedly lovely (we only went to Mass once Bower; I'm sure going twice on Christmas Eve excuses you going on Christmas day itself!!) and our lunch - despite forward planning - was probably one of the best we'd ever had (I can only take credit for one bit of it as we all got stuck in with prep) despite lack of advance planning; phew! Sitting room looked beautiful if I do say it myself (the one time in the year when it does). I did feel very tired though. Most of all, was happy for DD that she had a good day as it's been a tough school year for her, for various reasons.

Only downside was at end of day, having really made an effort and done 98% of the organisation (apart from actual lunch itself) over three weeks (a lot of it to do with office) DH thanked his sister and entourage profusely for their help and said not one word to me. Wasn't expecting a garland of laurel leaves or anything just a bit of acknowledgement and one word of thanks would have been nice.

Now trying to keep the dogs contained as I load car as we are off to the country in a bit. DD taking part in village ride. Farmer getting dhorse ready for us (he's riding too) and we're meeting them in the middle of a muddy field in the middle of nowhere! Slightly dubious about these arrangements but we shall see ... .

Hope everyone can relax a bit today! Tally-hoooooooo! 🎄🐎🎄🐎🎄🐎🎄🐎🎄🐎🎄🐎🎄🐎

Slightlycoddled · 26/12/2018 05:32

despite lack of forward planning

IVEgottheJINGLEBELLS · 26/12/2018 07:34

Oh my god

My poor house Shock

We ate late yesterday (4ish) and went out to see family straight after leaving the house a shit hole. Got home about 11, made more mess by hurridly trying to get everyone to bed. And now i am sat in the middle of this mess.

Ive already cleared the table so dc4 could eat breakfast but the scene around me is shocking.

Anyway. Christmas day was good. Kids had a nice time and enjoyed presents. Hope any poorly ones are feeling better Flowers

MeetOnTheSIedge · 26/12/2018 08:00

Well, our living room looks as though a bomb has gone off in it. We got the kitchen clear but the living room is strewn with presents and random bits of card, need to tackle that this morning, then off to visit extended family this afternoon.

IVEgottheJINGLEBELLS · 26/12/2018 08:19

Ta da

Table cleared
Table cloth for wash
Bin empty
Dc4 fed
Under and around table swept
Wash on
Dryer on

Bowerbird5 · 26/12/2018 08:45

Ours for once is tidy.

Cleaned kitchen yesterday afternoon and as we just got the pans from sons they are in the kitchen drawers. BF gave me gin x4 😄and two pieces of something I collect.
Back is bad this morning from not resting enough. So still in bed. Might get up and have some quiet time downstairs and a cup of tea which I am gagging for.

Plan today is to wind down. It was a lot to get done in the time re kitchen stuff. It isn’t all back but it will do for now. Love my new kitchen.

Hope you all get a bit of rest today. DH is driving to Scotland to work, DS3started at 6am and DS2 will be similar as he is the “ boss” and DS1 is working later at lunchtime. DD is having Christmas Day with DPs family and staying over I think. I will have food , the cat and the telly/ books/ magazines to catch up on. I might vacuum but that is all.
BF might walk down for a gin tasting😁

Glad to hear most days went well. We certainly did a lot of flying. Oh and I saw a blue tit fledgling at the topped up feeder yesterday and thought of you all.
I miss the chaos of children but went up to BF later so DS3 could give his present to her DS3’s children. Those two are best friends and have been since toddlers now 32 and 31. Their sitting room was chaos new baby of three weeks slept through it all so I had a long cuddle. There were 10 adults and five children. Luckily they live in a big farmhouse.
It was the fix I needed.😁

Amongst the tidying up snatch a bit of time for you. The lists on here have been massive lately and even if DHs, DPs and family don’t appreciate you enough give yourselves a pat on the back for how your effort made everyone’s Christmas great. I can appreciate the work gone in even if they can’t.

Bowerbird5 · 26/12/2018 08:47

Wow IVE☕️

TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 26/12/2018 10:19

Morning all. Have done nothing today except eat breakfast and do a tiny bit of an online food shop. My parents are coming Friday then play date with friends then in-laws coming so we will need food! I am working tomorrow so today is the time to get it done. However, I need to stop now and make some progress with the day and all the wrapping paper etc!

Stilllivinginazoo · 26/12/2018 11:08

You can still see your front rooms ladies??,

Glad everyone survived!!
We had quiet family Xmas,I wasn't feeling on form but we got thru it and zoolets had good time so I'll take that as a win!

Today's plan
A walk with dp whilst zoolets watch film on TV(just short one over local reserve to clear my head)
New board games coming out later!

I finally made my mince pies(and jam tarts for the haters) this morning!there was more than enough to eat yesterday so no one missed themXmas Grin

Hope whatever you are up to today it's good

Must climb back on flying wagon tomorrow or I may disappear forever under a sea of paper and Xmas things!

SassitudeandSparkle · 26/12/2018 12:01

I think I'm sitting in my front room, it's hard to tell because of all the stuff in it but as we only have one room apart from the kitchen/utility I think I'm in the right place.

DD is going out with DH after lunch so need to enforce order then. I still feel a bit tired but coffee should help pity it's not the Bucks Fizz of yesterday

IVEgottheJINGLEBELLS · 26/12/2018 12:08

sass 🤣

Ive gone all sleepy and cba. Anyone seen the stick in this mess?

HillsBesideTheSea · 26/12/2018 12:25

Morning.

Yes I can see the lounge, no it is not tidy tidy. But that is because there is a giant pile of ironing and socks to pair waiting for me.

Nice relaxing morning. About to jump in shower and then tackle the chaos. Or sit down and take a nap. Not sure which tbh. Especially as I am back at work tomo.

foxessocks · 26/12/2018 13:04

I've escaped the house and mess as we are at mils today! I too must get back on the flylady wagon soon but I'm thinking new year for me...this week seems ambitious!

I still have a cold, ds hasn't been sleeping well so all in all I could do with a rest!

Bowerbird5 · 26/12/2018 16:53

My back has given up today. Really struggling. Tablets are making me sleepy and I have BF rotten cold coming on. Back in bed for an hour. Was on sofa today and fell asleep twice. This is not good.

DH left at lunch time and dropped DD at her boyfriends/ partners. It is quiet! Pointy stick needed upstairs but downstairs all tidy except front door area has school bags x3 which I might go through tomorrow and try to reduce.

TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 26/12/2018 17:52

Oh no Bower! Very gentle pointy stick for you ————->

Hope you manage to get some rest foxes, I know how hard it is with little ones.

Did you nap or tidy Hills?!

I think Boxing Day is such a sleepy day Ive. For adults anyway! My DC are on a Christmas comedown so we have had a quiet day, hope I don’t pay for it at bedtime. I love the time in between Xmas and new year as an adult but hated it as a child as Christmas itself was over.

Hope you managed to get some stuff done while DD was out Sass.

So glad you had a lovely Christmas SC although not glad that you didn’t get thanked for it Xmas Angry.

I’ll be back on later with links. Again feel free to ignore as it is Christmas.

I’ll also lost a link to all the holiday clean up missions in case anyone wants to get started. Again, feel free to ignore for now Xmas Grin. I did mission 1 today .
