[santa][santa][santa][santa][santa][santa][santa]
A warm welcome to the December (dare I say Christmas?!) Flylady thread. This is a lovely friendly thread where we loosely follow the Flylady system (see the Flylady website ) in the hope of having organised homes and lives.

We are a long running thread but always welcome new members; the more the merrier Smile.

The new slimline structure seems to work well so I will stick with that. I will leave some links in this OP and then some quick links in the daily posts. Please do familiarise yourself with the Flylady website, especially if you are new. The Flylady is (understandably) keen that people do look at the website.

On the website there is information for beginners. You can also sign up to the Flylady emails but we would advise caution as there are hundreds of them.

We post our achievements (ta das) and our to do lists and any other general chatter about life / flying.

Information on getting started: www.flylady.net/d/getting-started/

The launch pad is also a good starting place:www.flylady.net/c/lp.php

Fly stands for Finally Loving Yourself. The general idea is that short bursts of tidying / organisation are more achievable than marathon efforts. Flylady advises 15 minute bursts is effort but you can tweak this to fit your own circumstances.

Be kind to yourselves, jump in where you are and be careful not to crash and burn! Especially at this time of year.

*
A daily summary (which should update automatically every day) is available on the Flylady website at flight plan here.

The link to the current zone and missions is here.

Re. zones, do what works for you. I don’t always stick to the zones myself and do what works best at the time, with varying degrees of success!

daily focus

missions for the week

Flykids mission

I’m sure I don’t need to tell anyone that it is getting close to Christmas so there are holiday missions here.

December’s habit is usually pampering yourself but has not uploaded yet; I’ll link it tomorrow.

beginner babysteps.

The best place to look for an overall summary is the launch pad.

Happy flying everyone.

Also a huge thank you to SC for a lovely November thread. FlowersCakeBrewWine

Enjoy your child-free time Cag! Waves to Zoo and everyone!

Just dashing on here to say to Bower that's a terrible thing for your dh to say to you. What is it with grown men and their reluctance to apologise? Angry In those circs I think my dh would find his favourite tie "accidentally" chopped up, recycled and used as chicken bedding.

And good on you for getting so ahead with the wrapping despite having had so much on at school and at home with kitchen. That is hugely impressive Star Star Star

Amazing list Hills

Gotta go. To do list so long I could weep ... .

TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 14/12/2018 10:03

Bower Flowers.

I also must get on top of laundry today zoo. It’s amazing how it builds up whenever I don’t.

Have a lovely morning . Best of luck with list SC*.

School play was lovely. Very behind this morning though. Girls at school so going to do a power hour. Starting with Brew and leftover pizza from last night Xmas Grin.

foxessocks · 14/12/2018 11:37

Just stopping by to say ds is asleep so I went to McDonald's drive thru - surely a win?!

Bower Xmas Angry I'm on your behalf.

TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 14/12/2018 15:06

I’m in awe of your wrapping skills zoo! Definite win foxes!

As usual, feel I have not achieved nearly enough and now it is time to do school pick up. Didn’t go to the gym in a bid to get stuff done and now I think I should have just gone.

Thanks all of you sometimes I think it is me.
He has been like this about two to three years after we married. I only remember one incident a week before when I did wonder if I should go through with it. We knew each other for eleven months.

Today he dropped me near the chemists then apparently a post van came along so he had to move. The options were park in a space further down the road, park in the next street which was nearly empty or drive around and come back about 15-20 mins later. Guess which one he chose? I was freezing as it is right on a corner. I was about five minutes as the fax had just come through when I arrived. I didn’t know where he was and nearly went back to school. I wondered if he had done it on purpose. He has gone out for a medical. I hope he bloody passes as he can’t do his job without it. Which means he won’t go back and he will be retired arrrgh!

This morning was lovely as we watched the plays the first time
This afternoon was ok in Reception. We were flagging while sorting books, words and letters. One little boy dozed off sitting up waiting for pick up bless him.
I am going to do all the cards tonight. I was going to make them but I can’t so I bought some this afternoon and do them and post tomorrow. I will send sis a winter one for New Year when I have time to make it.
Wow for wrapping skills zoo
Sounds like a plan for future foxes armed with magazine, drive DS around until he falls asleep, drive in collect meal eat and read while drinking tea/ coffee.

I don’t like Mac Donald’s but occasionally took tired toddlers for a drive just to have peace. At home I used to get them fed, watered and put telly on so they dropped off then I made my lunch and had half an hour or more to read. Then whizzed around before they woke up doing any left over jobs. Those days I seemed tidier and was finished by 10 am sometimes. It was a small bungalow and easy to clean this is an old house and more nooks and crannies and I have lived here longer than anywhere in my life so have accumulated a lot of stuff. I need to keep decluttering.

Plan for tomorrow
Get up early
Sort washing, put in car.
Vacuum upstairs ( wake DH early he he! )
Vacuum downstairs
Clean stove top. Dust and clean sitting room. Go shopping.
Go singing
Maybe afternoon tea somewhere.

TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 14/12/2018 22:27

Bower FlowersCake. Glad you enjoyed the plays. I LOVE watching school plays. I think it is one of the very best bits of parenting. I also always hope it is enjoyable for the school staff as they do such a hard job and always hope it is a little ray of sunshine in it for them.

Off to in laws tomorrow. Looking forward to that but lots of stuff to pack up and have put something down and can’t find it. Aaaagggggghhh. Resolved to just polouhh on tonight as can’t face getting up at stupid o’clock tomorrow. Have found something good to watch on my phone so going to get on now.

Big wing flaps to all.

I am grateful to live in a time where we have wine and prosecco.

Little flying done today, mainly writing down admin stuff - bit of a burst of activity and dates to note for next year - do have diary but not wall calendar yet for 2019.

Have done far too little for Christmas too, that should make next week interesting Grin but the deadline will spur me on.

DD's activities are starting to finish for Christmas too, so will be press-ganging her into writing cards tomorrow morning. Have washed Christmas Jumper but think it might be too small hoarded from last year so will look for t-shirt or something suitable for the times she'll need to wear it this week.

SassitudeandSparkle · 14/12/2018 22:48

Hugs to those who need it, especially SC and Bower I am still avoiding the wrapping duties for a few more hours days.

Cagliostro · 15/12/2018 00:05

My child free time was cut short as the baby was getting most upset and wanting me. So I hurried down to town to meet them and we got a bit of shopping done. Including getting proper bras for DD (none in Next - ours is a small store, as the bigger one is out in the retail park and too much of a trek - but found similar ones in Debenhams). All sad at her growing up!

Anyway in the evening DH sent me off to the pub, which was really rather blissful, as I had almost 2 hours of being able to read in peace (I have been reading the same bloody book for months) and eat food without sharing it with small people.

HillsBesideTheSea · 15/12/2018 01:43

I didn't get everything on my thursday to do list done. I was never going to be able to. In the end I called my sister and asked for help. Her and her boyfriend swooped in whilst I was at work and performed miracles so the house is all but sorted for the weekend's activities. Bloody stars that they are.

I have room full of stash and dash stuff and half the house the guest are banned from but it will wait and be tackled later on. We have done what was essential.

Parent pay otoh - utter bastarding cunting thing! Won't work. Need it to work.

HillsBesideTheSea · 15/12/2018 01:47

Cag your pub reading time sounds fabulous.

bower fingers crossed he passed his medical and won't be under foot.

Btw sometimes teenagers surprise you are are incredibly helpful when you need it the most without being asked. (just because I am one of the first to complain about them) Ds has been a star.

Stilllivinginazoo · 15/12/2018 06:47

hills nothing as lovely as a helpful teen.glad your sister was able to help.hope the activities for weekend go ok.parent pay is not my friend either....
Bower hope he passes medical.sending big hugs
Cag WOW at greetings bet that did you the world of good(Starfor Mr cag)and aw at bra for DD.we are desperately in need of sorting lil zoo as her crop tops aren't containing her properly but she's resisting ..a trip to Debenhams (only option in town,as m+s has closed)with her is in order, and tbh dd2 could do with some new ones as she's got bigger and I am in need too I foresee a female family outing ahead(must enlist dd1 to accompany, and do to watch D's socould taketime to organise)

Today is carols in the green outside church followed by a Xmas party and bring food to share it's open to choirs church goers and mums n tots(there's a party just before organised by local police officer as not great neighbourhood it's community funded and will be for Al local kids with gifts, food and DJ but that's be guaranteed to finish off D's)it maybe a huge stretch trying to get him to have a go,but we will see.im thinking mini gingerbread men as our food item in little iced waistcoats and bow ties!!

On the to do we have continue deep clean house, wrap gifts for as long as I can escape D's clutches (may involve locking myself in my room) and baking for the party.busy, busy, busy

Enjoy spending time with in lawsstressy
Sass glad liquid refreshments are holding you up in the final days of term

MeetOnTheSIedge · 15/12/2018 09:02

Morning all, I've been lurking in the naughty corner. I'm shattered, but have got two weeks off work now to hopefully catch up. This month has been absolutely full-on, despite the DCs being secondary school age now they have still had carol concerts, Christmas fairs, Christmas jumper days (all doubled up as different schools). Plus various volunteering jobs through Scouts and Guides. We've also had both DH and my work Christmas parties this week. The house is a total mess. The laundry is not done. DH is unwell (stinking cold). I want to curl up and hide. Brew anyone?

Cagliostro · 15/12/2018 09:36

Morning all. Slightly chaotic today as my friend’s DD (best friend of my DD) has just been diagnosed with diabetes type 1 😖 (sort of not a shock as sibling has it but still) and we are going to visit in a bit as she’s still an inpatient. Then helping at a charity thing later.

Bowerbird5 · 15/12/2018 09:38

💐Meet
Why not curl up for at least half an hour. I’m still in bed snuggly warm but knowing I need to be up and tackle the house. I want to do all the sitting room so once the electrician has been back I can put the tree up. I was so excited to get it and then DH says electrician needs to be in corner cupboard where tree goes. Hmm, back to earth with a bump.
Just drinking tea and eating zoos lovely toast and marmalade. Mum you should enter Marmalade festival zoo.

Well must get up now and vacuum upstairs -wake DH up-

Bowerbird5 · 15/12/2018 09:39

Strike through fail. Get him back for nastiness the other day.

Bowerbird5 · 15/12/2018 09:42

Morning Cags. Oh what a shame. She will be pleased to see you though.
Enjoy charity thing.
I am going singing later.

That should have said mmmm iPad changed it.

Stilllivinginazoo · 15/12/2018 10:01

I've been struggling hard,December's a crazy month with a lot of expectations and extra work
Mum died 29 years ago on 8th,brother died(not close) 8 years ago on 10th,second anniversary of dad on 21st.ffs.what is it with my family and December?!

Cag hope charity thing goes well.bet friend appreciates the visit

I've just spent near an hour sifting thru things that get stacked up under the dining table chairs at back of table(against a wall) zoolets been dutifully taking stuff to be absorbed into their rooms upstairs.pile for bin.pile for charity.i can see the floor!!(sure Xmas day will be restacked with stuff, but still for now it's great!)my kitties have been very curious at movement of said piles and have been "helping"....

Next stop totally clear top dining table(piles galore at back) then dough for cookies needs to be made and chilled and whilst that happens it's on with ninja speed wrapping!!

Stilllivinginazoo · 15/12/2018 12:45

Doughs been chilling an hour
Before, and after I've wrapped remaining gifts of zoolets who live here(still need do dd1,her partner and dp)
Veggie sausages to put in rolls almost cooked(gingermen will go in once we've eaten)
Chopped pile veggie sticks to have with them

Hope everyone's wrapped up warm and enjoying their Saturdays!!
