How/ where do you store your suitcases?

Hello,

I'd like to have ideas on how/ where to store our suitcases. They are taking a lot of much needed space in our house and I can't figure out an efficient way to store them. We have loads, small ones inside big ones, etc. so the question is where/ how to store the big ones really.

I'd love to know how you do that at home, for inspiration.

Thanks

PS: they are used once a year.

Ours are used more frequently than yours, but they're under the beds. Wr have gradually 'lost' cases to family, so only have those we use - two large, three 'hand luggage' size and a couple of large backpacks.

The large backpacks are full of holiday stuff (plastic bottles, packing cubes, mini washing line, folding hangers, flip flops etc) at the top of the airing cupboard.

We have built in wardrobes in all 4 bedrooms.

Ours are stored in the one in the guest room as we rarely have guests. Grin

Shmithecat · 19/11/2018 11:35

As above, in the fitted wardrobes in the guest room.

mando12345 · 19/11/2018 11:41

In the cupboard under the stairs.

loft

UtterlyDesperate · 19/11/2018 11:44

In the shower cubicle of the en suite.

Why do developers build shitty small flats with no built in storage?! I'd rather have a decent cupboard than 2 bathrooms in a 2 bed flat.

dementedpixie · 19/11/2018 11:46

Ours are in the loft

SakuraM · 19/11/2018 16:09

Hi all and thx for sharing your storage ideas.

I can't store them under the beds as they are slightly bigger or the beds are slightly low level, whichever you prefer...

I can't store them in the built-in wardrobes as they don't fit.

The loft might be a good idea but we have never checked ours since we moved here less than a year ago... I'm not sure I'll be able to do it as I don't know if a) the "opening" is big enough for the suitcases to go inside and b) spiders and other insects might dwell there and I hatttttttteeeeee these critters... which them might dwell IN the suitcases!

I seem to be stuck with having those suitcases in the open... a real eyesore... :(

I don't have much storage space, so I bought soft luggage that folds up small.

BuffaloCauliflower · 19/11/2018 16:14

Big ones in the loft, little one DP uses regularly tends to just live on the bedroom floor...

Tetrapanex · 19/11/2018 16:15

Small one for short trips that is used a lot lives on top of spare room wardrobe. Large suitcase lives in loft. It’s right next to the hatch so easy to put away and get out again.

seven201 · 19/11/2018 16:15

You've lived there a year and never looked in the loft????????????????

Miyajima98 · 19/11/2018 16:16

Next time you change your bed get a storage one where the whole mattress base lifts up on a gas air -lift mechanism. The space is huge and can fit suitcases galore!

user187656748 · 19/11/2018 17:30

Just use the loft! Bizarre that you have that space and don't use it Confused

seven201 · 19/11/2018 18:28

Your loft is already full of suitcases with corpses in. Fact. I still can't get over that you've not looked!

ChippyMinton · 19/11/2018 18:37

In the loft wrapped and taped in labelled bin liners to keep the critters and dust out.

QueenCity · 19/11/2018 18:38

In the garage to prevent bringing bed bugs into the house.

CottonSock · 19/11/2018 18:40

Get rid and buy soft luggage you can fit in loft.

Knittedfairies · 19/11/2018 18:41

On the landing next to the linen cupboard. My husband wanted to put them in the loft but I didn’t want all the palaver of getting them up and down the loft ladder.

animaginativeusername · 19/11/2018 18:42

Under beds, and in the storage cupboard

Chewbecca · 19/11/2018 18:43

Loft!
It would be a very unusual loft hatch that wasn't big enough to fit a suitcase through.

PickAChew · 19/11/2018 18:43

Ours are under our bed.

And I've never looked in our loft in the year we've been here, either. Dormer bungalow so it's no bigger than a suitcase, anyhow. There's eaves storage in one of the bedrooms but not big enough for the cases.

BackforGood · 19/11/2018 18:44

Loft here

but

You've lived there a year and never looked in the loft????????????????

this ^ Confused

silkpyjamasallday · 19/11/2018 18:44

We've only got two, and one fits inside the other, they are hidden behind a chair in our bedroom as there is no space anywhere else.

PickAChew · 19/11/2018 18:46

Not that unusual. You can just about get a pair of shoulders through ours. Do excuse the cobweb.

How/ where do you store your suitcases?
