Morning All
I'm going to try the 'January Cure' from the Apartment Therapy website.
There are other Mumsnet threads for previous years.
Anyone with me? Smile

The outbox thing I kind of already do as I have a box where things to get rid of go. I've kind of gone off plan and just sorted all the kitchen drawers, got rid of loads of cutlery and utensils. Also Kondo'd my clothes.

ScattyMcScatty · 04/01/2018 21:19

Good going gemmel! I've literally popped a box in the porch but was glad of an easy one today. My little girl had surgery just before Christmas and since then it's been one thing after another with my poor baby, almost ended up at the children's hospital tonight. I don't think I could have handled anymore than moving a box from the slowly growing tip pile!

How's everyone feeling about floors this weekend?

Lillylollylandy · 04/01/2018 21:23

@ScattyMcScatty hope your DD is ok?

Checking in. Days 1 & 2 are complete - I’m struggling with Day 3 and the outbox. I know from bitter experience that if I put stuff somewhere to sort out later it will never leave this house....argh.

Gammeldragz · 05/01/2018 00:13

scatty you've definitely got more important things to worry about right now, hope your DD is ok Flowers

PenelopeFlintstone · 05/01/2018 00:38

LillyLollyLandy - could you make your Outbox the boot of your car?

Here's my Outbox. It's in my bedroom which isn't too far from the front door. I quite like this basket-chest but was going to get rid of it as I didn't really have a purpose for it. Out in the room where it was, we get a few mice (we're rural) so I've never wanted to store much in it. Now it's in a different room it should okay.

Thanks lily and gemmel Thanks she's doing good. She had cochlear implant surgery before Christmas and recently caught scarlet fever and her eardrum perforated this week, the results were back from the swab yesterday and didn't look good as so close to her wounds but she's responding to antibiotics so keeping a close eye on her.

Really need to focus on something other than worrying and the kids strangely love helping me and having their own 'tasks' Grin

Penelope I love your outbox!

PenelopeFlintstone · 05/01/2018 09:23

Thank you Scatty, but oh dear, that seems like a lot for a little one to bear Sad I hope she's not in pain Flowers

Thanks Penelope, she's been through more than a 3 year old should have to but she's a wee trooper, she's been playing tricks on me and her brother and laughing most of the morning so I'm hopeful she's on the mend. Thanks

PenelopeFlintstone · 05/01/2018 10:44

That's good, Scatty. Laughing's a good sign that she's not too uncomfortable, I guess. Smile

All the best for your little one scatty.

lily From what I understand there will be a dedicated task to deal with your outbox, so no excuses Grin. In all honesty, the one I set up for the September cure is still in the cellar!

We head home this evening so I'm hoping I'll be able to catch up on the tasks over the weekend. Not looking forward to packing up the car with all the presents the kids have received and the drive home Confused

PenelopeFlintstone · 05/01/2018 21:32

My Day 4 email is in my inbox. Buy some flowers or a plant and do the floors.
I can't buy a plant or flowers, as I don't live near any shops, but I will quickly sort out the pots at the front of the house while I'm tidying the front verandah, and I'll do the floors.

PenelopeFlintstone · 05/01/2018 21:33

Actually, I'll grab a bit of succulent from outside and pot it up for inside.

Nice plant effort Penelope. I didn't do that and I'd done floors the other day. I did get some bags of clothes out of the house though.

chloechloe · 06/01/2018 12:35

Nice succulent penelope!

So we're finally back home with a mountain of laundry and Xmas presents. Hopefully I'll be able to catch up on a few of the tasks over the weekend.

Gibble1 · 06/01/2018 22:03

I found you! I will get started on this tomorrow and hope to continue next week as I have a week holiday.

PenelopeFlintstone · 06/01/2018 22:13

Thanks Gammeldragz and ChloeChloe - it took about 5 seconds but it should 'take' and the old handleless mug has sentimental value :)

Hello Gibble1 :D

I haven't started my floors, by the way....

Slowpokeslimmer · 07/01/2018 13:27

So far I have emptied one of the drawers under my bed, chucked some stuff and found new homes for the rest. We desperately need a new bed so have got to clear the drawers out.

I have written lists of things to do in the house and a list of life things to sort i.e. Financial and making a will.

Outbox all set up with a pile of magazines in while I decide what to do with them.

I have planted some bulbs and put the pot in the middle of my dining room table.

Just having a break from hoovering the floors now.

PenelopeFlintstone · 08/01/2018 01:28

That's really great going, Slowpoke.

JaneJeffer · 08/01/2018 12:14

I'm going to join in as the house needs major sorting.

Not sure about the outbox as I fear it will be still sitting there next January full of stuff! I'm going to decide immediacy whether I want to keep something or not.

Mybestusername · 08/01/2018 13:14

I already have an outbox which will be going to the charity shop when full. Cleaned all floors yesterday except children’s rooms - bagged them to do it to no avail Angry Couldn’t bring myself to buy flowers but repotted some houseplants instead.

ScattyMcScatty · 08/01/2018 13:41

Thanks for the kind words Thanks

Penelope that succulent is lovely, love how you've repurposed the mug. I cheated here and moved my palm plant from the bedroom to the lounge, has to be my favourite possession. Ds has been using it to play with his Star Wars Lego ships all weekend.

My outbox is still sat empty, everything so far has been sent directly to charity and recycling. when it moves from the boot of my car Floors were started today with the eldest being back at school and the smallest stayed home to help hinder more like.

How are you getting along Chloe, seen the bottom of the laundry basket yet? Grin
