I'm about to make 'the list' would anyone like to join me? Thankfully the dc don't break up until next Friday but I do have the 2yo & 4 month old with me so I won't be entirely unhindered. Think the kitchen will be #1, I did the cooker last week & need the oopmh to do the rest now Xmas Blush

Done no where near a decent amount of housework today although I've been cleaning none fucking stop.

Still so much to do, I will get list making immediately!!

BernardsarenotalwaysSaints · 18/12/2017 09:18

Right. I'm home from the school run. I have Tesco coming between 11 & 12. I've got a load of washing on already. First job once the baby is fed is to get side of doom #2 in the Kitchen clear. Then sweep & mop. The shop today is just meals until Friday so I'm going to clean my fridge Friday morning ready for it to be refilled with food for Satirday- Friday that evening. I'll wipe down cupboard fronts & the back door then too (mucky dogs will only get mucky again if I do it today).

What does everyone else have planned?

I'm working till 5pm today, but will nip home after lunch and get my own bedroom tidied and cleaned since I slept in this morning so it looks like a bomb hit it
Then hoover all upstairs rooms and stairs if I have time.
Then when I get home I need to clear the ironing pile and get downstairs done.

BernardsarenotalwaysSaints · 18/12/2017 15:53

My kitchen is complete, except for my Friday bits. Tomorrow I'm going to continue with the washing & deep clean the bathroom.

My Tesco driver was wearing an Elf costume Xmas Confused

Washing machine is fixed! Thank goodness. Clearing the backlog as we speak. Way behind with everything else and still have to marzipan MILS cake.

allissi · 18/12/2017 16:04

had my mum come over :D

BernardsarenotalwaysSaints · 18/12/2017 16:14

Ah! Thank you, you've reminded me I've still got to make my cake. I've done a last minute one since dh & I moved in to this house as he doesn't like fed cakes. I'll make it tomorrow, marzipan it first thing Thursday & ice it last thing Friday. It's quite a nice recipe tbh & saves me having to find space for it from September onwards.

Thank the Lord for this thread! It's making me move

Wash/Dry Dishes
Clear clothes
Wash on (1st one on)
Hang up wash
Sweep Floor
Tidy sitting room

officerhinrika · 18/12/2017 18:28

I think there’s been progress today! The kitchen is almost there, yay, all the things that do NOT live on the worktop or windowsill have been put away, tiles, doors cooker hood etc cleaned. Just have to reload the dishwasher and steam mop the floor now. The utility is sorted and tidied too, you can see the floor. Downstairs looking much better. This sudden activity is mostly because the boiler service is tomorrow and of course you can’t let anyone see how you really liveGrin
The cardboard mountain and the charity shop box are in the car and only one more wash load to go I hope. Who knows I may feel ready to put the decs up tomorrow.....

officerhinrika · 18/12/2017 18:31

And wondering why it’s taken so long, it’s the tidying! Finding homes for random stuff, identifying random stuff, wondering if you need the random stuff. Gah.
And then it will be Christmas and my house will fill up with more random stuff.
I want a voucher for one of those decluttering persons for Christmas- I’d be so happy!

BernardsarenotalwaysSaints · 18/12/2017 19:37

Officer yes I go in to that mode when the hv is coming. Lords knows why, she's known me/the dc for 6 years now, she must know it's a lie Grin.

My dishwasher is playing silly buggers. It's not filling, but is draining, so I think hope the valve is clogged. Dh has only just got in though so it'll be tomorrow night now before he can take a look.

Oven door is clean. I really should do the rest while it’s still warm-ish from cooking.

StrongerThanIThought76 · 18/12/2017 21:26

My kids broke up on Friday.

Today i have ruthlessly cleaned the bathroom and hall/stairs/landing, hoovered, wiped sticky fingerprints off walls, washed the sofa cushions, done 2 more loads of washing and hung to dry, sorted the mahoosive backlog of laundry (only 6 more loads FML) and done an hours' ironing.

Tomorrow my list is
2 loads of washing and hang to dry
Replace sofa cushions
1hr ironing
Ruthless cleaning/chucking in lounge

StrongerThanIThought76 · 18/12/2017 21:30

Officer i had a decluttering lady come round 18m ago and she completely changed my life. I can't say that my house is (nor ever will be) showhome ready for visitors but it really helped me to think about the stuff in my home. And in the time she was here i got a good glimpse at what my house could look like clean and tidy!

AdoraBell · 18/12/2017 23:25

I would love a decluttering lady. She’d have to remove DH though Xmas Hmm

ProseccoMamam · 19/12/2017 00:10

Oh the sofa cushions Sad not looking forward to do them it takes 2 washes for the full settee and then there's the drying!!

The kitchen is almost done I just have to do the tiles, and the fridge.

Living room is okay, sofa will be hovered under the cushions while being washed plus need to drag it out and find the lost souls of the kids under there....

Hallway is fine, don't keep anything in there at all

Bathrooms could do with a deep clean and a sort through all the products

Bedrooms don't need much other than a hoover and a wipe down.

BubbaLips · 19/12/2017 00:15

.

AnonEvent · 19/12/2017 07:19

The washing is back in control, there's still some in the washing baskets. But it's a couple of loads (not loads of loads). At one point each basket (2, one lights, one darks) was piled as tall as the basket on top of the basket (thankfully we have a laundry room to hide it).

The skirting boards remain unwashed.

Today is my last day at work until 2 Jan, TOMORROW is skirting board day.

BernardsarenotalwaysSaints · 19/12/2017 07:21

Prosecco yes I need to do my throws, cushion covers & wipe down the sofas. I'll dust on Saturday. I'm sure for every one thing I cross off I think of five more.

I need to work out where the 4 month olds moses stand is going to go once we've put the presents under the tree on Christmas Eve.

OP posts:
officerhinrika · 19/12/2017 08:23

Skirting boards? Oh dear, the great unwashed round here.
Are decluttering people expensive? I have a friend who is brilliant at this but she is recently loved up so unlikely to be available for non loved up activities for a while.
Trying to get my day going and really just want to stay in bed.

wasthataburp · 19/12/2017 08:59

Yesterday was hoovering downstairs and clearing out dining room which was a complete dumping ground. Today is hoovering upstairs, cleaning bathrooms and steaming all floors in house. Also got a 5 month old to keep amused!

BernardsarenotalwaysSaints · 19/12/2017 09:13

If it weren't for the dog I don't think I'd do the skirts more than once a year. She managed to get slobber on the kitchen ceiling yesterday Xmas Angry

Wish I'd been able to stay in bed, it's bloody chilly out there. Poor dc1 has a 'sports enrichment day' at school & it's mostly outdoor activities.

OP posts:
officerhinrika · 19/12/2017 09:31

It IS chilly out there despite the sun. Just been out to refill the birdfeeder and scuttled back in quick!
I’ve hoovered and dusted the landing and moved two shelves worth out of the airing cupboard so the boiler bloke can see what he’s doing. Now for a coffee. The only one still asleep here is the dog, she’s camped out on my bed in the sunniest spot. I might come back as a spoilt Lurcher.

hotwaterbottler · 19/12/2017 09:35

Today is operation clean oven and fridge. The oven is my achillis heel so it's pretty grim currently. I only have myself to blame as I always put it off. Need to pop out and get some scrourers first though.

BiddyPop · 19/12/2017 09:40

It's this time of year that I wish I was a SAHM. House is like a bomb site. Cleaners will do a regular clean this week (fortnightly visit) but the clutter and the big jobs are all piling up undone. I only put the tree up on Sunday!

DSis is coming to stay though so I need to reclaim the spare room by Boxing Day....
