Fledglings fly into December to party hard.

Morning.

Tomorrow is December 1st which means roll call for the fledglings and shiny new thread. It might seem a bit clicky but it is because it is a long term thread, park your arse in the naughty corner for moral support, natter and various delicious goodies. Oh and smidge of housework too.

We follow the flylady system HOWEVER we adapt it to suit the circumstances of our lifes and sometimes we ignore the slightly more fluffy/bonkers babysteps --because we can and there ain't no one the boss of us

Oh no Bowerbird how stressful! Hope your dd is ok?

Wing flaps to Callmecordelia, Zoo, Toostressy Foxes Honu and everyone I've missed again!

I am deeply ashamed to admit that I still haven't found my address book. I'm ok for now because thankfully I have parcel addresses for close relatives on Word docs, and I know (or can find easily) addresses of closest family, friends, colleagues, but beyond that, when sending cards, this is such an almighty (and stupid) PITA entirely of my own creation.Blush

Lisette40 · 13/12/2017 22:43

Waves to Sludgecolours.

Trapped in house as pavements supericy here. Worked from home but managed to clean glass hob till it looked new. Slowly easing into routine.

HillsBesideTheSea · 13/12/2017 22:57

Bloody hell bower that was one hell of a day!

Ds has no clean trousers for tomo, that would be because he came home with a hole in the pair he was wearing and only thought to tell me at bed time. So currently waiting for the washing machine.

I have the house to myself this weekend. No people. I might be looking forwards to it BlushBlush although at this rate all I will be doing is sleeping Hmm

You should have read the first version it was funnier. Might be glad to get back to work tomorrow.
DD missed the connection at Birmingham and still isn't home yet. Lovely friend is picking her up at the station and letting her stay the night as DD now lives 16 mile from station.

HillsBesideTheSea · 13/12/2017 23:58

Grin bet you never thought you would be saying that tonight last night.

No certainly wouldn't have. Just heard from her and she is at her friend's house so I can relax and go to sleep now. At least I bought some presents. I have about 70 cards to write tomorrow for Friday. Have presents from Harrogate visit. Enough for 45 to get small gift. Think I might give a book to the other three classes otherwise it is 22 more small gifts to buy tomorrow night. Goodness that is without Nurture Group...another 24 help I didn't realise I worked with so many children in a week and another five in the morning. Oh no I don't know what to do now I can't write that many cards. That is about 96 children if I wrote a card for every child I work with in a week.😳 didn't realise it was so many. I should have thought about this earlier. I'll have writer's cramp and I don't think I have that many cards. I bought four packs today and have some from last year.

They work! Right, I have to get up, make a coffee, and go and queue for swimming lessons. Whoever thought of this system is cruel.... I hope I actually get to queue inside the sports centre. Ski gloves at the ready.

Callmecordelia · 14/12/2017 07:00

Got the lesson. Waited outside for half an hour.

To do
Finish the Christmas cards
Make Christmas cake to take to cousin's house at the weekend
Wash kitchen floor
Change beds
Put wreath up

Sludgecolours · 14/12/2017 07:25

Thank you for links Hills! Grin

That sounds extremely chilly Cordelia!

Goodness you sound v generous indeed with your card-writing/present-wrapping Bowerbird5

Me and furry have just seen DD off for the last of her exams and then gone for a brisk walk. DD has been sitting one or two exams every day for a fortnight and then coming home mid-morning or at lunch time, usually starving, and usually with a couple of hungry friends in tow, to start revising for the next day. So me and several grandmothers of dc in her class have basically been keeping them all fed between us in various homes across the city Grin. (And believe me I've had stiff competition from some Italian and Spanish grannies in particular on the cooking front but the cuisine anglaise hasn't honestly down too badly I dont think or the students were just being polite more like Smile ). Anyway, now I can pack up the catering service, I feel like I can start focusing on Christmas properly now! Not before time either!

Sludgecolours · 14/12/2017 07:27

Argh!

Gone down too badly, that should have said!

Hope everyone has a productive Friday!

Sludgecolours · 14/12/2017 07:30

Oh yes and I have basically lost patience with builders - they are good blokes - but each on their individual schedules. Let's just say, bathroom will definitely not be finished before Christmas!

Afreshturkeyplease · 14/12/2017 07:32

Morning all

We had snow overnight but then rain so now it is just that horrible wet slushy stuff

Wrapped about 10 presents last night. Cant remember where i have hidden some things though ....

Ds seems happier. Still coughing but more content.

Ta da

Wash on
Dryer on
Ds3 fed changed dressed

Afreshturkeyplease · 14/12/2017 07:37

Glad your getting the bag back cag

Hope your dd head ok bower

Sludgecolours · 14/12/2017 07:56

Btw Afreshstart meant to say from down thread, glad to hear work situation resolved ok. Must be huge change for you after 17 yrs of working Flowers

HillsBesideTheSea · 14/12/2017 09:45

SC sorry you are having builder problems which has delayed the bathroom work Sad

For who ever has a turn at link posting it seems like HQ has finally invested in some spam limiting function to the site. multiple posts that look the same are being blocked/altered in some way to prevent the links working. Imho this is a good thing but it does mean that we are going to have to be careful about the format of the links. Especially if trying to copy and paste a previous post SC's most marvellous way of giving a summary seems to bypass the MN limitations BUT we also have to be careful of copyright and that Flylady has had to have things removed from sites because it was too detailed. So vague but detailed would appear the way to go. Gotta love modern technology. It's a spade! no it is not, it's a dirt moving implement! So a spade? No, no a long handled trowl.

Callmecordelia · 14/12/2017 10:28

Thanks Hills. I really appreciate the links as the flylady site gives me a headache! It's so difficult to navigate.

Afreshturkeyplease · 14/12/2017 11:10

Ahem. Sc i feel the need to point out i had worked since the age of 17, not for 17 years! I am only 29! You make me feel old! Anyway it may have been my typo originally but just so we are clear i am under 30....

Cagliostro · 14/12/2017 11:21

You are younger than me afresh I just turned 31 :o

Tired tired tired today. Caglets finished clearing the table. Need to collect bag and take them to st John. Blah

Sludgecolours · 14/12/2017 12:01

Oh sorry Afreshstart Grin Grin I knew I should have scrolled down to check - but was rushing this morning - I'm sure it was my mistake! (And of course I should have thought that that would have made you far too old!! Apologies!!)

Crikey - all you youngsters - I've just been surveying dd's biology revision with her and commented that it was forty years ago that I was learning the same thing - and things have moved on a bit since then! Makes me feel ancient!

Oh and it transpires that dd has one more exam tomorrow (sigh) so today isn't the end after all. And she wants to bring back friends afterwards. Can't bring myself to refuse but wanted some free time to get on with things [sigh]. If I'd been more organised like last year, I would have had my Christmas wrapping and card writing station in one room, but as it is I have everything spread everywhere!

Finally, it turns out that dd was sitting next to a poor girl who wasn't feeling well in the exam this morning who'd asked for a bucket to be placed next to her desk . She had to leave half way through. Let's hope it was nerves and not noro! That's all we need in the run up to Christmas!

Noted about the spam function thingies Hills for next time - thank you - I know Flylady don't like people copying and posting chunks of texts but didn't realise this had extended to links! Will investigate, ta x

Callmecordelia · 14/12/2017 12:25

I think I'm somewhere in the middle. Not yet 40, but I can feel it just over the horizon.

I've made the cake, DS is napping. Scrolling back, I see I have jobs to do, but it isn't happening. Smile

We had a lovely walk by the sea earlier and it's date night with DH later. It's midway between our anniversary and my birthday and will do for both.

foxessocks · 14/12/2017 12:34
