If you are strugging with C.H.A.O.S. (can't have anyone over syndrome) and S.T.U.F.F. (something that undermines family fun) then this is the thread where we (loosely) follow the step-by-step Flylady housekeeping system (in our own, unique, relaxed style) with lots of chat, support and Wine and Cake along the way.

This is where, from the first of the month (seriously, HOW is it November already?!), we follow – loosely – the rules of FlyLady [see website here ]. (Pls ignore the barftastic language, and we suggest NOT signing up to the emails as there are rather a lot of them. All the info you need will be posted here on a daily basis.)

Helpful info on getting started here!.

We adopt a three-pronged approach:

-start or repeat baby steps

  • repeat baby steps + do 15 mins a day decluttering in the current zone or area (yes, just 15 mins focused work a day makes a difference!)

and/or

  • reinforce babysteps and do daily missions if you have finished decluttering.

[And if you are really enthusiastic and have finished decluttering - you can go on to detailed deep cleaning in each zone.]

NB
This is a very long-running thread so we may appear cliquey but we really aren't! All newcomers, long-termers, lurkers and intermittent returnees not only welcome to join in but positively encouraged to do so!

Another NB
Start where you are. There is no need to worry about being perfect – perfectionism = paralysis! There is no such thing as ‘falling behind’ with FlyLady, if you miss anything, just move on and continue as normal the next day.

Any questions, don't hesitate to ask!

Good luck!

Went for a walk with a well wrapped up DS.

Remembered a to do from yesterday that didn't get done - cleaning out the condenser unit from the tumble dryer. Disgusting job. Glad it's done, but ewwwww.

Dusting.

Tidied kitchen.

Put away all the now dry washing from Sunday.

Sorted out the pile of books/toys that had appeared on the landing - DH had wandered off in the middle of some decluttering on Sunday.

Cleaned sink.

Hope everyone gets a peaceful night.

Bowerbird5 · 22/11/2017 00:01

Wow! You have all been so busy. Will pop back and read thoroughly tomorrow. Skimmed through. Thanks for those that replies.

Had lovely time this afternoon painting and making boxes. Had to stay and mark RE, tidy up and a meeting after a meeting.

Flying in the morning then singing In a care home. Going to fall asleep any minute.

Bowerbird5 · 22/11/2017 07:26

Ta dahs are very impressive ladies. Under the bed and matress turning😳😀
Mine yesterday were washing on1
Worked my socks off at work. No breaks but managed to eat lunch before lunchtime club. Finished at 5:30 instead of 6😀 then went shopping for all the things I forgot. Why am I not keeping up my list making😖 bought a few yummy things. Suddenly finding myself in cleaning aisle more😇
Awake early 5:30 but still going to go back to sleep as I have the luxury of day off.

Plan for today

Sleep in, cos I can and I'm tired.
Sausage sandwich for breakfast.
Washing on and dried. Ironing pile attacked.
Clean out fridge. DH home today and he always inspects suspiciously.
Slow cooker on with beef casserole.
Thouroughly clean worktops, yesterday morning turned on light to find I had a visitor in the window sill😝 it then scooted across worktop. I Put neat Zoflora on but didn't have time to remove stuff in corner where it sat looking at me. Luckily I managed to open window and shooed it in that direction and it went out😁

Clear table, who put that stuff on there!
Wash floor.
Notes for work.
Planning for Friday.
Bedroom: make bed, collect washing, try and find home for stuff at bottom of bed. Dust one chest of drawers. Check fairy light batteries.
Singing at 2pm and then unfortunately staff meeting. Back home then pick DH up at 7:30pm if he gets home.
Think I better not have lie in😳

Cagliostro · 22/11/2017 08:00

Have that lie in bower 😴 What species of visitor was it?

I managed to be in bed before ten last night. Didn't get a vast amount of sleep before midnight but still it all helps. I was so overtired I didn't wake up when she cried at 3am, I feel really guilty :( she was right next to me! :(

DH suggested breakfast out which would be nice, he's at physio (so I can't get a lie in anyway, I'll catch up later as he's off today). I might suggest I send the kids on the bus to meet him instead though as I'm so moody lately I just feel like I ruin everything. DD1 is frequently - almost obsessively - asking if I'm ok and saying I look sad (and this is an autistic girl who back in May couldn't even recognise when someone had been crying). I think the GP will put me on medication TBH.

In other to do list related things, hopefully we can get some stuff sorted today, certainly need to put laundry away, hopefully some general tidying and sorting the buggy perhaps. Need a bath too, I might have one earlier as by the time the evening comes I'm too tired.

HillsBesideTheSea · 22/11/2017 08:09

Note to self: when needing to post the linkies do not think you will do it when you sit down at the end of the day. You will promptly fall asleep and the links will not happen. Also note to self you do not function in the morning. HmmBlushBlush

Right here we go links for today:

Baby step here

mission here

launch pad here

christmas mission here

kids mission here

zone here

I have probably forgotten something. sorry promise will try to do better in december, hoping it will be less batshit crazy

SC hope you are feeling better and recovered from your migraine!

Bowerbird5 · 22/11/2017 10:31

Ahh don't worry hills. If we were desperate( unlikely as a procrastinating lot) we can always Google Flylady!
I had to stop marking yesterday as I was falling asleep at the desk at 4:30pm😳 finish tomorrow as I'm back in there. I seem to be doing more teaching than my own job just now. And another one bit the dust this week and off now so that is four at last count.

It was a mouse cagliostro. I thought maybe dormouse because it had huge eyes. Unfortunately where there is one... I will have to move the bird feeder it is across from the door so they come in while I am getting coal, wood , feeding chickens etc. shame because where it is I can fill up quickly in morning and I can watch them when washing up, making a cup of tea or loading machine.
Plans taken a nose dive as best pal has rung and wants to go to town so I am off with her. I do have a couple of things to do and we might grab a coffee. House will have to wait. I slept till 9am! I have doused the worktops though and loaded and washed everything it might have touched in dishwasher after disinfecting.
Where do you get the winter Zoflora I haven't found any yet?
I wish I lived near Cags I would come and give you a hand. Remember small steps. Little babies and not being 100% is hard work without anything else.Flowers

Thank you! I have to say I now have even more admiration for people who do the school run with a baby!

Bowerbird5 · 22/11/2017 17:31

Well best laid plans weird day. Best pal rang to distract me. And wanted me to go out. She was still in bed, made arrangements, rang back at 10:45 to say " have you seen the weather. " she hadn't looked out when she rang. Ha! Ha! Anyway she arrived about 1pm to say roads flooded. So no singing and no meeting. It was really bad on two roads and police closed the one in between. The other was passable but I couldn't risk going out in case I couldn't get back. So we did what any normal person would do and went to the pub! We had a lovely lunch. Got some jobs done. All on first half of list and still going through second.
Went for walk to find road cleared at bottom and left message for someone from pub. River very flooded and may well be over top by morning. Reckon I could catch up with housework and school notes if enforced home tomorrow😁
Migraines are yuk hope you feeling better.
Sounds just the ticket Cags.

Bowerbird5 · 22/11/2017 17:35

Agree. I say " Well done for getting here"to the late mums and give them a big 😁 then I spend a minute admiring the new baby. There are some cute ones at the moment.

HillsBesideTheSea · 22/11/2017 18:48

Sludgecolours · 22/11/2017 20:01

Hello my lovelies!

Thank you for all the get well messages - these partic headaches usually take 3 days to clear - so hopefully will be feeling better soon!

Hope everyone else who are feeling less than their best [Rosa and Cag] and others - or whose dc are poorly - feel better soon.

And congrats to all fledglings! It certainly seems that you have all been very busy by the look of things. Apologies for not catching up with personals in detail. Hope to do so asap!

Just wanted to say thank you to Zoo - your mini-messages have kept me going/cackling over the last few days!! And I really did channel the power of the big girl pants when tackling the builders the other day Grin. Boudoir at peak hoarder levels now though.

And keep safe to all of you who are potentially affected by flooding/gales etc.

Links for tomorrow coming up! Humungous wing flaps to one and all!
