Morning,

I really need to go to bed earlier, as ds is back to getting up at 5am

OP posts:
SimplySparkling · 15/04/2007 10:49

Hi Jelley. Thanks for the research. How is Ruby these days? Does anyone know?

shouldbe I've chosen the tea towel drawer, if you please.

Londonmamma Good luck with the tidying up.

Right. Off to drink a cup of tea and carry on with sorting out the ironed stuff to put it away. Dd straightened my hair so that I could see whether I liked it or not. It's okay but I wouldn't have the time to do it each day I don't think. A scruffy cut is more me. I wish we would all go back to scruffy/curls again! Straight hair is lovely but too much work for those of us who are completely inept when it comes to doing our hair.

SimplySparkling · 15/04/2007 10:50

Forgot to say Jelley, I hope your cold goes away soon.

shouldbe · 15/04/2007 10:55

Don't have a tea-towel drawer simply sorry they go in the cupboard under the sink...

jelley hope you soon feel better

Off for a bath - only have about 45mins before PIL arrive, house is looking pretty good

Londonmamma · 15/04/2007 10:59

Jelley thanks for that research, hope you're feeling OK. Hot honey and lemon??

I've cracked that bedroom thank God, was dreading that job. I do get fed up at all the toys etc that come in to the house and I'm the one that has to organise them all the time. I think my job title should be Manager of Stuff

Next jobs: hang laundry, get dressed (!), sort out two kitchen drawers, lay out my stuff to be packed for going to join the family in Northumberland tomorrow. Can't say I've missed them!!

glitterfairy · 15/04/2007 11:29

Happy brithday simply. Hello everyone

Well the party is over and the house is a mess but the day is so beautiful that I am going to put another load of washing on (ds is distraught as he lent them his room and they have got make up over his new bed linen which he only put on himself yesterday!)

I managed to make a fairy castle cake myself with roses growing up the walls all in pink and white. I am worried it has started a nightmare ritual which I will have to always make better. My ds is now after a cake for a boy! Any ideas he is 11?

shouldbe · 15/04/2007 11:33

Just been in the bath for about 2mins when my dad turns up to borrow the pressure washer to clean his car (they're selling it) so missed my relaxing bath and had to spend ages faffing about sorting him out! Never mind - was good to go downstairs and see how nice the house looks - it's at it's best at this time of year (due to 2 large sets of french doors at the back leading out onto the patio ) Going to try to dig out the tablecloth for the garden table so we can have lunch out there

londonmama you're doing so well

shouldbe · 15/04/2007 11:34

Hi Glitter the sleepover went well then Have a good day today

ludaloo · 15/04/2007 12:00

GF glad the party went well
hmmmm...cakes for an 11 year old...um gosh no idea!!! How about a football? Or an eyeball? Or Spongebob? Is he into anything in particular??

shouldbe shame about the bath...my neighbour always does that to me!!

Jelley the fly threads haven't been going as long as I thought then...I joined in Oct last year.

~D/W done
~W/M 2 loads done
~Hang washing out 1 load out
~Bail out both toilets to tackle Limescale I can't get the stains out the bottom of the toilets, and Anthea has suggested bailing the water out and scrubbing with Bicarb....LOVELY!!
~Hoover
~Tidy Kitchen
~Make rice crispie cakes

Haven't got that far as I decided to do a quick dash into town to get DS some new shoes. His old pair are falling apart, and one of them is missing anyway He only had wellies left!

shouldbe I have tried the coke in the loo...nothing seems to work I'm afraid....will try a toothbrush and some elbow grease if all else fails!

glitterfairy · 15/04/2007 12:56

OOh Luda an eyeball fab idea he would love that and it can just be a circle cake which is easy! He doesnt like football only ballet but I think a ballet cake would get him teased.

Thanks shouldbe hope you are having an ok day I am having trouble keeping up with the thread.

Have now:

Hoovered
Tidied
Washed up
Washing x3
Drying 2 loads on line
Oh and finished my book

Am now off for a run and then a sunbathe down at the river with the kids. they are on bikes which doesnt strike me as quite fair. I am doing a 5k race on Friday and really dont want to come last so am doing a lot of running this week. I need cheering on at 6pm Friday as it is really a big step for me.

Londonmamma · 15/04/2007 13:01

Well done Glitterfairy - bet you're relieved that's over. the cake sounds fab. If he likes Doctor Who, Dalek Cakes are not so hard..

Now...the job I've been leaving till last because I hate it even more than cleaning toilets... filing, paperwork, post. Wish me luck!

ludaloo · 15/04/2007 13:03

GF what a refreshing change to see a boy into ballet Enjoy your sunbathe. Good luck with the running, I'll have my fingers crossed for you on Friday!!
I'm no good at running...I'm good at swimming though (well I was)

Right off to do toilets, I have put them off too long!!!

ludaloo · 15/04/2007 13:04

londonmamma we should swop!! I'd rather file stuff anyday!!
Good luck with it though

glassslipper · 15/04/2007 14:38

hi all.

having a lovely weekend.

did i see someone needs to clean the loo? My tip : pump the loo brush up and down to make the water level drop. Then put harpic limescale remover down. leave for about 1/2 hour. Then scrub with loo brush (you scrub as hard as the stains require). Then flush. should be nice and clean then.....

Londonmamma · 15/04/2007 15:32

Help me Luda !!! I got tempted back onto MN!!
I'm about three quarters of the way through the wretched paperwork..

glitterfairy · 15/04/2007 16:07

LOL londonmama it is so easy to resist doing those jobs isnt it.

yes luda he is 11 and has won a scholarship in London this summer so is doing pretty well. I have no idea what he will do wiht the dance but I like having three kids who are all into the same thing!

tortoise · 15/04/2007 16:10

Aufish · 15/04/2007 16:39

Hi All, well I haven't done anything in the house today but I have got the kids sorted for school.

Have done:

4 haircuts
Taken the kids to run off excess energy.

Tomorrow will be the day that I completely blitz this house and I will get the place back in the order it should be.

Londonmamma · 15/04/2007 17:15

Done! I've now finished the 13 decluttering jobs I set myself on Friday (I am here on my own though, no DH or kids to attend to !!! )

Jobs before I go away tomorrow:
1)empty fridge 2) bins out 3) windowlocks 4)
two emails 5) ocado order for when we get back 6) one letter to finish 7) note for neighbour
8) empty dishwasher 9) laundry away.

How come there's always something else that needs doing!!

tortoise · 15/04/2007 17:22

Wow well done londonmamma! Great start!

I have just been outside chopping back a prickly bush thing. Want to try and dig it out but its almost a tree trunk at the bottom!!

Londonmamma · 15/04/2007 17:27

Aufish - I bet you're really looking forward to tomorrow.

I am in awe of you gardeners - I don't have a clue!

tortoise · 15/04/2007 17:54

LM I don't have a clue either! I just dig everything up and chuck some seeds in. Worked last year anyway!!

Aufish · 15/04/2007 18:19

Oh, that is the understatement of the year! The girls have just had a power struggle going on all holidays and I definitely need a break now. Only thing is I'm back the early mornings again which I hate.

EHM · 15/04/2007 18:27

Grouchy I hope all is okNot posted since Friday, I am sure you are far to busy enjoying the sunshine. Maybe watching Dombie & kit

shouldbe · 15/04/2007 18:42

Hello everyone

PIL are still here and despite my reservations they haven't been too bad at all this time They seemed to enjoy lunch then took the kids to the playground while dh and I sorted some bits ready for dd's birthday then they've just helped while I cut ds's hair (always a hugely traumatic event for him - I bet the street think he's been murdered!)

So, for once, no complaints really...the things that did come up I've been able to laugh off with dh so I'm still

Hope to get lo's to bed before too late this eve, they both seem very tired...as am I...
