Hello everyone

Just home from work Have had a good day, very busy with other things to occupy my mind for the day and have come home feeling better Have also just ordered some new clothes and shoes for the lo's online so am looking forward to them arriving on Monday
GF hope the sleepover goes well. My dd keeps asking for one but I haven't been brave enough (yet!)

tortoise · 14/04/2007 19:17

Hello FLYers.
I have been busy doing picnic in the garden and water fights and some digging in the front garden ready to plant some flower seeds and put 2 loads of washing out and also DC planted their sunflower seeds. Not much done in the house though!

DS2 was awake at 4am saying he didn't feel well so i was awake for over an hour worrying that he was going to be sick! Luckily he has been absolutely fine all day.

Shouldbe Hope had a good day at work.
RollOnEaster My 1st thought was Rollonsummer too.
Simplysparkling Well done for teaching DC to iron! Good skill to learn early!
EHM You are good making Ellie all that good food. I was never good at that and still not good at it!
Im ok today BTW.Thanks for asking.
luda Hope car is sorted soon.
Glitter Hope the sleepover goes well. Im not brave enough for that yet!

And well done to everyone for lots of good FLYing today.

I need to get DD's to bed now then run a bath for me!

Londonmamma · 14/04/2007 19:46

Shouldbe - do you find it harder or easier to tackle jobs at home when you've been out at work? It sounds like your work energises you.

Other jobs tonight:

  1. Handprints off living-room window 2) put dry laundry away and prep load for tomorrow 3)quick walk out to to clothes recycling place

Then a nice soak in the bath.

shouldbe · 14/04/2007 19:56

Londonmama work can have either effect! Today I felt quite energised but other times I'm too exhausted to do much once I'm home...it also helps that dh is at home on a Saturday afternoon so I can relax and get on knowing he's watching the kids I've done a bit in the office but not really scratched the surface - played hide and seek with the lo's instead Will have another quick blitz in the morning, run the hoover round, warm up a lemon so the house smells good (thanks, Luda! ) and hope the house meets MIL's inspection!
Better go - Dr Who has started already and I still need to get supper in the oven (finally making that toad-in-the-hole tonight tort )

tortoise · 14/04/2007 19:56

shouldbe.

EHM · 14/04/2007 20:17

SimplySparkling · 14/04/2007 21:09

Hello to all.

I think I'm seeing things. Ellie is 1 next month EHM? Surely not? Where does time go?

shouldbe If your MIL is anything but 100% supportive, imagine us in "Grrrr! Let me at her!" mode. If necessary, picture us in a certain drawer like little (cross) dolls, each one of us in whatever way you imagine us to be. Open the drawer when she is annoying you, grin at us and close it. Okay, it might make others worry about you (if they catch you doing it!) but it should put a smile on your face when you need to diffuse the situation!

P.S. Do you know, I worry about myself sometimes, the ideas I dream up!

tort Ironing is such a chore in this house as I often leave it for days depending on how busy dh and I are with work and the kids with school and stuff. I now give the kids £3 a week pocket money on a Sat if they've earnt it. Ds usually washes both cars to qualify. Dd does whatever she can. Ironing might be a new string to her bow. Blooming dh did some washing yesterday whilst I was in town. He was trying to be helpful. I was not impressed when I found he'd put the cream bath mats that I'd left next to the washing basket in the w/m with a pair of ds' jeans and a brand new dark khaki t-shirt. They look decidedly yucky now! Men! Do they not know the basics of washing clothes?

shouldbe · 14/04/2007 21:17

simply

shouldbe · 14/04/2007 21:23

EHM Ellie is 1 next month ???(best month to be born in my opinion ) Where has the time gone ...my dd is 6 soon - I really have no idea where those six years have gone...

Londonmamma · 14/04/2007 21:52

Hi all, off to bed soon. I'm curious about when and how 'Fly' started. Did you start it EHM? Was the idea to help people get motivated to tackle stuff at home that they found hard to get started on? Anything else I need to know?

It's helped me, anyway!

Aufish · 14/04/2007 21:59

EHM totally agree with May being a great month to be born in! Its mine and dp birthdays then. August is also pretty good in my household. Somehow chose for both my boys to be born in that month one day after the other!

SimplySparkling · 14/04/2007 22:03

shouldbe I'm glad you appreciate my warped sense of humour! It may not be normal, but it gets me through! Wait until your children are in secondary school like mine and then you'll really wonder where time has gone! I think I owe you an e-mail, btw. I will reply soon. Am going great guns on the ironing!

Londonmamma Do you know, I can't remember? You'd have to search the good housekeeping topic for the first one and work it back through links or references unless someone else remembers. You're right about the purpose of it. As I was saying on Flame's thread just now, it's friendship, first and foremost. The housework thing is a secondary .... sorry, brain gone, I blame the glass of wine!

tortoise · 14/04/2007 22:06

My DD1 is 4 in May!
And my youngest brother will be 13 on the same day as my DD1!

shouldbe · 14/04/2007 22:07

Just off to bed have spent another eve chatting to tort when I shouldbe () tidying up!
I have no idea when or how the FLY thing started either Londonmama, just that it's a great way to add a bit of fun to the dull-ness that is housework
I'll look forward to that email simply...don't inturupt your ironing spree though!

tortoise · 14/04/2007 22:10

FLY thread on here started quite a long time ago!
No idea how long the actual FLY lady has been going!

tortoise · 14/04/2007 22:12

I found posts back as far as August!

EHM · 14/04/2007 23:20

Sounds like we will have lots of cake then next month I am 37 in May, feel 107 sometimes & then feel about 17 when I am being silly with you lot

I agree simplyS & shouldbe she can't be 1 years old, she was only months old when I first discovered this thread.
londonmama very flattered that you thought I started the whole flything. Sadly not I am a flybaby in flying terms
aufish maybe we should have a joint b/day celebration

Night Night all.x.x.x See ya tomorrow. (been looking on ebay for a new pushchair/stroller for Ellie) (can't believe how little I would get for my M & P Pram)

Aufish · 14/04/2007 23:42

Hi EHM it's mine and dp 32nd and 33rd birthdays at the very end of the month, he has absolutely no excuse in missing mine as his is the day before. I know the feeling as to how old you feel somedays and then other days you feel like you are 16 again. I'm having an old day today as am feeling the effects of my late night and taking the kids into town today.

EHM · 14/04/2007 23:46

aufish I am 37 on the 3rd, Ellie is 1 on the 24th very excited. Cam believe we had this wonderful little person in our lives for 1 whole year! I am rambling I've only had one small glass of red wine
Right I really going to bed now. Night Night . Hope you are not staying up until 3am?

EHM · 14/04/2007 23:47

can't not cam

EHM · 15/04/2007 07:13

Morning All

Its a lovely day here already. I am having a quick cuppa before giving Ellie her breakfast. She will never eat immediately after getting up.

List for today:
cauliflower cheese
brocolli,Corguette in cheese sauce
chicken,brocolli & potatoe
pear
banana & mango
supermarket(tesco didn't delivery more than £30 worth of items yesterday)
Iron Curtains washed & dried yesterday
All the other stuff we do on a daily basis.

Right off to finish my cuppa. shouldbe will be thinking of you today. Remember sucking lemons, or what simplyS about mil.

Have a good day everybody.

shouldbe · 15/04/2007 07:31

Morning EHM a beautiful day here too Your birthday is very close to mine

Well, I seem to be stuck waking up at 6.15 even when ds sleeps in (he's typically still asleep this morning!) So, I've tidied away yesterdays toys downstairs and mopped the floors (kitchen, playroom, hallway, cloakroom and utility ) Going to a quick s&s in the bathroom in a minute and will wipe round in the kitchen after breakfast.
Think I'll dispatch dh and at least one child to the supermarket once it's open so I can do a whizz round with the hoover and a last hiding-of-junk-session in this room

PIL rang last night and have offered to take the kids to the playground this afternoon so I've softened a little - very kind and will give dh and I some time to a)relax b)do some garden jobs &/or c)go and look at presents for dd's birthday

shouldbe · 15/04/2007 07:35

Btw, after the 13 room envy convo the other eve (made me chuckle ) I counted up and we have 11 rooms ..4 bedrooms, bathroom, cloakroom, hall, utility, playroom, kitchen, living room....is that a lot?

ludaloo · 15/04/2007 07:44

Morning

May is DEFINATELY a good month to be born in!!!
I am May 4th..DH is May 6th! (wedding Ann. is May 5th)

shouldbe 11 is quite a lot of rooms!!! Well it is when you have to clean them all anyway!! We have...um...8 rooms...well actually 7 but 8 if you include the hall as a room (which from a cleaning POV I guess you can)

The weather is looking good here too. It was baking hot yesterday!! I had to clean a very manky car out...but my friend did most of it,she hoovered it out and donned her rubber gloves!! then her DH washed it for me!!! [very grateful emoticon]

Well same old routine today... can't be chuffed to write a list, maybe do one in a bit.

Have a good sunday all

ludaloo · 15/04/2007 07:48

there are an awful lot of us on here who are Taureans!! It must be a Taurean trait to do housework!!! (well we are supposed to be creatures of comfort, who love their homes and food, so there we go!!)
