Here are the baby steps for all new FLY babies. The first (and only one I ever really did) is to shine your sink

shouldbe · 24/03/2007 08:29

OK you two, you're scaring me into getting up!...still not dressed......but I am showered....have to leave in 15mins so am pushing it now..and I can bet you any money that dh hasn't made me a packed lunch like I do for him when he goes to work

McCadburysDreamyegg · 24/03/2007 08:40

So lets say I was going to start flying this weekend, I know about shining your sink but what else would I do? House has a definate "lived in" look at the moment!

Upsadaisy · 24/03/2007 09:08

Hello everyone I am going to have a sparkly sink week this week as am at home more. I was working hard last week and the house is a complete state. SO have started this morning setting my timer and doing 15 minutes here and there. I found a timer at work adn am amazed at how good it feels to do 15 minutes and see the results!

SparklingCleanFishTankOwner · 24/03/2007 09:37

Hello to all esp newbies and a good friend of mine EHM.

VeryGrubby I'm sure you'll need to change your name by the end of the day. Tell me when you've completed your task. My 3 tasks are still waiting to be done! Remember them from (approx) Jan? I've said I'll do them so many times. [sigh] Maybe this w/e?

This appears to be a good website about looking after your fish here

luda You should be able to get lots of advice from the Pets at Home shop I expect. Good luck with it all.

MadameSleepsLessAndLess · 24/03/2007 09:41

Morning upsadaisy
Hi Dimple I am going to make your fab choc cake on thurs as my inlaws are coming for a few days.
glitter good look with the 15 mins fling.
Right thats my bananas on toast gone. Ellie is washed & dressed. Has lots more spots this morning

VeryGrubbyFishTankOwner · 24/03/2007 09:47

I've done my weekly shop, and will do the fish tank today. I also do bed changing on Sats. (I'm Jelley btw luda, just trying to motivate myself)

shouldbe I don't do much of the proper FL stuff either.

If you do some of it and take in the 15 mins bursts, and not giving up, by the second month you will notice how much easier it has become.

SparklingCleanFishTankOwner · 24/03/2007 10:19

EHM Awww. Does little Ellie seem to be bothered by them? I hope she is okay.

VeryGrubby I'm sat here in my pjs. Dh and dcs have gone to town. I gave them a very poor show of a shopping list so will spend the next half hour texting them to say add more to the list. I'll go and get showered and dressed and then get cracking. I think I'll crack on and report it at 11am for an update and a cuppa. I get more done when there is a time limit.

NineUnlikelyTales · 24/03/2007 10:24

Hello everyone

We are taking up the nasty (navy blue, 1980s, filthy dirty) dining room carpet today, in the hope of revealing pristine floorboards to restore So that is going to mean major cleaning. DH is going to take up the carpet and then I am going to do the vacuuming, mopping, etc.

Aside from that I will make DH do lots of chores. I have a ton of laundry to do and we need a general tidy round too. Don't tell Flylady that we're not out having family fun

Good luck to all you fish tank cleaners, sink shiners, carpet cleaner hirers, choc cake makers and flyers.

9nut

NineUnlikelyTales · 24/03/2007 10:26

EHM hope little Ellie gets over her pox quickly. I was heartened to read your success with her sleeping - we have decided to get a bit tougher with DS (no CC, but trying more of the patting in his cot before picking him up - we are such wimps though)

SparklingCleanFishTankOwner · 24/03/2007 11:15

NineUnlikelyTales Thanks for the encouragement. I hope the floorboards are in a good condition for you but even if they aren't, you're better off without that carpet. It sounds very like a bedroom carpet I used to have. That would have been late 1980s/early 1990s. Yuck! We have some major projects to do in the house, namely stripping the wallpaper from the living room, redoing the fireplace and putting down new flooring, and stripping the hallway wallpaper. The living room currently has one large sideboard, two bookcases, a tv and stand, a medium sized table and 2 3-seater sofas in it. Plus tat!

Right. I've showered and dressed but haven't blow dried my hair. Off to do that. And I've put another load in the w/m. Not doing too badly for a lazy Sat morning.

Jelley · 24/03/2007 11:21

Hello
Fish tank is done, so I'm me again.

McDreamy- If you were to start this weekend, according to mrs FLY you should only do the sink (which always involves doing all the washing up first for us non dw owners).
If it was me, I would set a timer and put away/rehome/ throw away as much stuff as I could from the sitting room in15 mins.

I'll find the home blessing list in a bit (yuk name, there is a less religious uk site but it is not very long established and I gave up on it)which is Mondays job, so you could kick start the week by getting it done early.

MadameSleepsLessAndLess · 24/03/2007 11:26

9nut your are not wimps we where exactly the same. Its what feels right for each parent/child. I couldn't do the CC thing either, thats why we bought Baby Whisperer book, pick up put down. Ellie can go back to sleep on her own now This is better than getting up every couple of hours, every hour, or when it was really bad every 20/30 mins all night.
sparkling my old mate Ellie has been fine until about 1 hour ago just wants to cuddle. didn't eat breakfast really so i've just geven her 2 cubes of chicken casserole(her fav) she ate it but cried between spoonfuls. also had an apricot Petits Filous left litt. she is sittin on my knee as a type. i am showered & hair washed but not dressed.
Right iam going to cuddle ellie & try & get her to nap. EHM

MadameSleepsLessAndLess · 24/03/2007 11:27

I found this crisis cleaning plan on FL site, which looks useful, as I tend to lurch from crisis to crisis.

DD1 has just done a 15 min stint in her room with me (for 50p) DD2 will do it for free, but she makes most of the mess.

rolloneaster · 24/03/2007 13:29

hi everyone,

took kids swimming and guess what it flooded into changing rooms so had to abandon it d/d had wellies on which helped d/d 1 hadn't we had to wade are way out of changing rooms!!! only happen to me

grouchyoscar · 24/03/2007 14:56

Hello All.

Welcome all Newbies

Thanks to Glassslipper EHM Stacey Jelley Shouldbe Rollon (I hope I haven't missed anyone so sorry if I have)
for the hugs, very appreciated. DS's behaviour came at the end of a long, hard (physically and emotionally) week. DH said I'd hit my wall.

Positives from yesterday are DS's teachers were VERY supportive and acknowledged that DS can be hard work but also told me he has a very caring and considerat side. and despite all DS's chaos i did not shout at him once, which is a HUGE improvement for me.

I've only had time to glance through yesterday's thread, so I've missed things. It's getting nice and busy here.

Done list
Up at 6:15 to sort out an online deal
Tidy up from lasy night (I don't remember getting to bed)
Load and run DW
Sort out errands for the day
Play with DS
Empty WM and sort into drying piles
Empty DW
Put away
Put 1 pile of wet washing to dry
Have breakfast
Get showered
Wash and dress DS
Get Dressed
Sort bags out for day
Go to town, do errands
Go to dad's group (honorary dad me!)
Go to supermarket
Home
Put 2nd pile of wet washing to dry
Take 3rd pile up and put to dry
Entertain DS.

I've asked DH to take DS. I need to sleep.

FLY Mission - SHINE YOUR FISHTANK

See you later ladies
