Fledglings cocoon, we're Flying in June ... .

Welcome to the June 2017 fledgling Fly thread!

Feel free to park your mops and buckets here from the 1st of the month!

This is where we attempt to declutter our homes and follow the 30-step wisdom of Flylady (minus cutesy barftastic language and a surfeit of e-mails) with lots of chat and support and mutual motivation (and Wine of course) along the way.

More info available here, here and here.

As usual we will be following a three-pronged approach - and don't worry - we are all at different stages. (Some of us are still stuck at the decluttering stage after quite a few years Blush):

1 - repeat or start baby steps (again!)

2 - repeat baby steps + do 15 mins a day decluttering in the current zone

or

3 - reinforce babysteps and/or do daily missions

And those of you who have decluttered and are really enthusiastic can throw some detailed cleaning in to the mix as well!

The idea is that we focus on short, ring-fenced, daily bursts of activity (steps and routines) that will help our homes run (more or less!) on "automatic pilot" allowing us to do far more interesting things instead!

This is a very long-running thread so we may appear cliquey but we really aren't! All newcomers, long-termers, lurkers and intermittent returnees welcome!

Helpful pointers: No perfectionism allowed! If it took a while to create the current C.H.A.O.S. (can't have anyone over syndrome) in your home, then it will probably take a while to reverse the situation (you can't clean clutter!). Small steps are the key! And you are never behind: just jump in where you are at!

Any questions, don't hesitate to ask!

Good luck!

Yes it is fine. Just one of things that has the potential to be a major or minor thing and you never know which until it is sort. Thankfully it was a minor thing and easily fixed when i spoke to the right specialist Grin
Just could really have done without it Hmm

Ds has gone for the weekend but I am shattered and have a date with my bed, some tv and a pot of ice cream. Enjoy your evenings!

mermaidsandunicorns · 16/06/2017 20:46

Evening all just a quick hello as work day today
I'm sat sorting out my weekly calendars and doing the childcare juggling act of who will be where when.

Going to make a jug of pimms and relax WineWine

Sanscollier · 16/06/2017 23:27

Einstein well done re ta da lists. Glad unforeseen emergency worked out ok. Sleep well!

Glad the parenting class went well again Toostressy

Oops, nearly forgot to post links!!

Well done everyone!! You have Flown through more than half of the month!! Star

And perhaps I shouldn't say this, but if you think about it (and allow 8-10 days off for Christmas/Christmas prep) we are about half way through the year too!) Arrrggghhhh!!

Time to start actually doing my New Year resolutions for 2017 then Grin Grin!! Yes indeed, "woeful" and "procrastinator" are my middle names!! Blush

Morning zoo! Hello to everyone, I've missed quite a bit as we've had a few busy days , I've started working again after being on maternity leave (I work from home and only part time) and struggling to get my brain working again! Hope everyone is ok!

Afreshstartplease · 17/06/2017 07:39

Morning all

I appear to have caught the babies cold!

Ta Da

Dryer on
Washer on

Have a few errands to run out of the house today and also need to get on top of the cleaning/tidying/decluttering/moving prep

foxessocks · 17/06/2017 07:57

afresh bleugh summer colds are horrible, hope you feel better soon

Afreshstartplease · 17/06/2017 08:03

Ty foxes

I still haven't managed to do anything else yet today.

We are moving in less than a month and are SO unorganized it is ridiculous

Sanscollier · 17/06/2017 10:36

Good morning all.

A bit exasperated this morning as dh, having returned last night after being away all week, casually mentioned that he had a load of appointments today and will be out for most of the day Angry. It never occurs to him to think I might quite like to go out today too or that he could perhaps take over exam supervision duty for a couple of hours. I have just e-mailed him a passive aggressive shopping list Grin

Ta da:
animals
take dirty laundry downstairs
empty dw
empty and dry overnight washing
feed wms again
shine sink
clean kitchen surfaces
dining room table hot spots
wipe desk in home office
round up all plates, cups, glasses, saucers littered over house in various revision spots (thank you dd)
ditto search for towels
sort plastic and metal recycling
meal planning and shopping list Wink

To do:
make lemon drizzle cakes
make crunchy pea nut butter cookies (revision necessities)
tidy up boudoir in advance of next week
phone friend
write birthday cards for upcoming fortnight

Cheery wing flaps to all!

[proffers lemon and honey drink to Afreshstart]

Hope you are enjoying working again Foxes if not too difficult juggling with young 'uns.

Hope the kitties are ok Zoo. How lovely for your friend to be able to move in to such a pristine flat!

And that's a good list you sneaked in there last night Purple Smile. 25 mins prep in advance of visitors is pretty good going Star!!

Have good Saturdays everyone!

TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 17/06/2017 16:04

Hello all, hope you feel better soon Afresh.

Hot and sweaty here and have hardly stopped. Just want to sit and do nothing but obviously no chance of that!!!

Ta da:-
DH is doing home bleugh - he has been cleaning for hours - the idea of it taking 2 hour is such a joke.
Ridiculous amounts of laundry
Took girls dancing and now they are playing in garden after an enforced sit down inside as it is so, so hot out there.

DD2 had screaming fit in town and I bumped into another person from the parenting course at the exact same time - we gave each other a wry smile.

To do:-
Have a huge amount of laundry to now put away and keep getting interrupted by DD2 when I try to do any.

Find DD1's school book

Make tea - it's just never ending isn't it, as soon as DH finishes cleaning kitchen I need to start tea. Really am trying with all the bad news in the world to be grateful for what I have and I am but like many parents, just wish I could sit in a darkened room on my own for a bit Grin.

Some decluttering
Make our bed later - will have to do DDs' beds tomorrow.

Need to go and suncream DD2.

TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 17/06/2017 16:05

Ooh yes, hope work going ok foxes

YesEinsteinsMumDid · 17/06/2017 16:21

ta da
write mn post
Hit refresh rather than post
Lose mn post
HmmHmm

Done fuck all except relax today but about to brave going out as I need a bit of a hill stomp but there is no point going out until after the grockles are off them if you are looking for peace and quiet.

Hope everyone is managing to find even just 5mins of peace.

mermaidsandunicorns · 17/06/2017 16:47

Hello all x
Work day again so minimal flying done
4 days off now tho and fab weather for it!!

My sister went into labour this morning so I'm going to be an aunty imminently Grin cv excited

TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 17/06/2017 20:18

Ooh how exciting mermaids. Hope labour not too awful for your sister.

Well despite DH cleaning most of the day we still have stuff everywhere. How? And how do we have so many clothes but nothing to wear? Finding decluttering sooooo slow. I know Flylady says it takes time but I have had enough!

DH just got called into work leaving me with online food shopping to put away, garden toys out, laundry on line, DD2's bed to make and both kids still up. Have just allowed myself a 5 minute wallow and now am going to make a cup of tea and get on with it. Both DDs still up but they are washed and in front of the telly. DD1 at least looks a bit tired.

Ta da:-
Found DD1's schoolbook
DD1 reading

Sanscollier · 17/06/2017 21:36

Oh how lovely Mermaids!! I hope all goes well for your sister and the new arrival x

A summer evening hill stomp sounds perfect Einstein especially when you have the hills to yourself!

Sounds as if you are spinning lots of plates atm Toostressy. Must be stressful when your dh is called away at a moment's notice too. I hope you manage to get a little time for yourself tomorrow Flowers.

Well, one revision day has been endured and survived here without too much angst (thanks to home baked goods). I have managed some basic Flying to make up for the absence of it this week. And dh has redeemed himself by not only doing the shopping but cooking us all a beautiful fish (brain food) supper too and a glass of Wine or two has been enjoyed!

Cheery wing flaps to one and all

Toostressy wish I could offer comforting words of wisdom about decluttering but I have never really got on top of ours properly. I am making small inroads of progress here and there, but it is never enough.

OP posts:
Cagliostro · 17/06/2017 21:55

Agree, doesn't seem to matter how much we declutter we still have so much crap that I don't know what to do with!

Entirely unproductive day here. Been having issues due to my POTS so feeling sorry for myself. And had planned to do father's day shopping at the end of this week (normally do it online but Caglets prefer choosing in person) and of course have now been too unwell to :( :(

YesEinsteinsMumDid · 17/06/2017 22:28

Did sound perfect in theory SC couldn't get out for that stomp as my knee decided to balloon up to twice the size it should be Sad

ta da
Find fan to reduce the temp in the bedroom from 28C ShockSad

YesEinsteinsMumDid · 17/06/2017 22:29

Hope you feel better soon Cag

TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 17/06/2017 22:59

Cag Flowers. Thanks for links and kind words SC. DH has done on-call work for years so we are very used to it but sometimes it is infuriating. Feel much better after a shower and am now pottering around in my PJs trying to put everything away.

I suppose if all of us found managing clutter easy we wouldn't have joined this group Grin.

TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 17/06/2017 23:00

Oh no Einstein, hope your knee gets better. Do you normally have problems with it?

mermaidsandunicorns · 18/06/2017 00:55

Ahhh my sister has just had her baby. It'll be lovely when my dc wake up and I tell them
