I love my dishwasher. I do have a tumble dryer but rarely use it ,so could live without it.

namechange20050 · 04/05/2017 11:19

I couldn't live without my dishwasher. There's three of us, I do a lot of cooking so it's on at least twice a day. I don't have a dryer. I also don't have a microwave which makes people pull this face Shock

WhereAreMyTesticlesSummer · 04/05/2017 11:19

I have zero interest in having a dishwasher but got my first tumble dryer a year ago and it has LITERALLY changed my life.

I'm aware how tragic they sounds but it's true. It's amazing.

WhereAreMyTesticlesSummer · 04/05/2017 11:20

I don't have a microwave either name and get similar reactions.

Ditsy1980 · 04/05/2017 11:20

Nope. Me either. I also don't have a microwave.
Microwave is probably the only one I feel I miss out on but I've not had one for around 10 years so can't miss it that much.

I don't have a dishwasher or tumble dryer. I think I'd quite like a tumble dryer for ease in the winter but I don't see the point of dishwashers.

Unfortunately, we bought a really good washing machine just a couple of years ago so I don't think a washer dryer is on the cards yet.

sonlypuppyfat · 04/05/2017 11:21

Couldn't live without my tumble dryer, how on earth do you dry washing in the winter, we have bad enough condensation problems without adding to it

BlackAmericanoNoSugar · 04/05/2017 11:22

I have most things and use them quite a bit, but I don't have a proper grill. It's been six years and I still miss having one.

Whosthemummynow · 04/05/2017 11:23

No dishwasher. Tumble dryer or microwave here!

I do have a dehumidifier though!

SmokeCloak · 04/05/2017 11:23

I love my sparkling clean glasses from out of the dishwasher. Could never get them that clean washing by hand.

hoihoihoi · 04/05/2017 11:23

I don't either, and no microwave too. No room for a tumble drier, but I'm thinking of getting a dishwasher. Don't miss the microwave though!

neonrainbow · 04/05/2017 11:24

I bought both fairly recently. The tumble dryer make laundry so so much easier. Plus no airers standing around taking up all the space. It was pretty cheap from ao.com too.

StripeyZazie · 04/05/2017 11:25

Of the two, have never found a tumble drier useful. And the amount of electricity they use frankly terrifies me.

Dishwasher is something that is very nice to have but not absolutely essential. My mum used to call it a "cupboard for dirty dishes" and I think that's it's main use- you don't have to put up with clutter in the kitchen if you're not able to wash dishes right away. With the he loading and unloading, I don't think they are much quicker than doing dishes by hand. But they do make the kitchen look tidy.

PickAChew · 04/05/2017 11:34

No room for a dishwasher.

Couldn't be without my tumble dryer. Have a washer dryer, but couldn't keep up with the laundry with it, so I now have a standalone dryer, which is the bees knees.

wowfudge · 04/05/2017 11:34

Oh good lord - modern tumble dryers do not use terrifying amounts of electricity. I would rather use one than spend more of my limited time faffing about hanging washing out or around the place. The weather is so unreliable (apart from the rain!) that a TD is a godsend. Also cuts down on the amount of ironing needed.

Dishwashers are more hygienic than washing up by hand and it is great to put dirty pots and pans out of sight in it. Definitely far quicker loading and emptying than washing and drying by hand.

FormerlyFrikadela01 · 04/05/2017 11:37

We have neither at the moment as they're in storage while we sell the house apparently a tumble drier in the bedroom puts buyer off

I'm coping without the dishwasher but the drier is so hard. We get though so much washing (both in healthcare in full uniform that is changed everyday plus a 10 month old) there's no way we have the time or space to dry it all so it's going to mils. Such hard work.

AlternativeTentacle · 04/05/2017 11:41

I had neither or a microwave until last week, now I have a dishwasher and it is marvellous.

StripeyZazie · 04/05/2017 13:52

wowfudge modern tumble driers use about 3x as much electricity per cycle as a washing machine, often more.

womaninatightspot · 04/05/2017 14:14

I have a tumble dryer and a dishwasher. I use them a lot (four mucky dc). I love them. I think as with as lot of things it comes down to a time v money thing. I personally think it's worth the cost so I'm not constantly nipping off to the garden to hang up laundry and then rehang it inside to "finish off" nine months of the year (Scotland). The dishwasher is a godsend takes five minutes max to unload / reload and I put everything in. We had a houseguest for a week who helpfully insisted on washing everything by hand as their contribution. Kitchen not really designed for it so the worktop (wood) was soaking (no dishrack) and they chipped loads of crockery. Wtf would you stand next to a machine cleverly engineered by the nice people of bosch to do dishes and wash them yourself might as well crawl around trying to suck fluff off the carpet...

Frazzled2207 · 04/05/2017 14:19

I have both though pre-children lived happily without either.

jollyjester · 04/05/2017 14:26

I have neither but I'm planning a new kitchen which will have both. The dishwasher is non negotiable!

Ecureuil · 04/05/2017 14:29

We don't have a dishwasher or a microwave. In fact I've never had a microwave!
I'd struggle without the tumble dryer. 2 adults and 2 messy pre schoolers who get through a lot of clothes. I don't like the thought of all the condensation/damp from drying things inside. I don't use it much in the spring/summer though.

ToEarlyForDecorations · 04/05/2017 14:29

I don't have a dishwasher or a tumble drier. We had a dishwasher but deliberately left it behind as part of the chattels when we moved house.

Never had a tumble drier & don't want one either.

GnatsChuff · 04/05/2017 14:33

We have a dishwasher, no tumble dryer, nor do we want one. We do have a microwave, because it was built in by previous owners, but it is one of the combi grill type ones and only gets used occasionally.
