Welcome to the May 2017 fledgling Fly thread!

Feel free to park your mops and buckets here from the 1st of the month!

This is where we attempt to declutter our homes and follow the 30-step wisdom of Flylady (minus cutesy barftastic language and a surfeit of e-mails) with lots of chat and support and mutual motivation (and Wine of course) along the way.

More info available here, here here and here.

As usual we will be following a three-pronged approach - and don't worry - we are all at different stages. (Some of us are still stuck at the decluttering stage after quite a few years Blush):

1 - repeat or start baby steps (again!)

2 - repeat baby steps + do 15 mins a day decluttering in the current zone

or

3 - reinforce babysteps and/or do daily missions
And those of you who have decluttered and are really enthusiastic can throw some detailed cleaning in to the mix as well!

The idea is that we focus on short, ring-fenced, daily bursts of activity (steps and routines) that will help our homes run (more or less!) on "automatic pilot" allowing us to do far more interesting things instead!

This is a very long-running thread so we may appear cliquey but we really aren't! All newcomers, long-termers, lurkers and intermittent returnees welcome!

Helpful pointers: No perfectionism allowed! If it took a while to create the current C.H.A.O.S. (can't have anyone over syndrome) in your home, then it will probably take a while to reverse the situation (you can't clean clutter!). Small steps are the key! And you are never behind: just jump in where you are at!

Any questions, don't hesitate to ask!

Good luck!

Same blue I heard it when I was up with baby at about midnight and then couldn't sleep much after that Sad

TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 23/05/2017 09:01

Terrible news Sad. Have given a brief sanitised explanation to DD1 in case they talk about it st school. I am normally very open about things with her but will wait and see if she asks anything else. I doubt she will as she is in that infant school bubble at the moment. DD2 too young.

TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 23/05/2017 09:06

Meal out lovely but annoyingly feel rubbish today. Only had one drink so not that, started to feel ill on bus home. Don't feel terrible but hoping I perk up soon - have DD2 all day plus the hated school gardening evening tonight Angry.

Ta da:-
School run
Washer on
At park with DD2

To do:-
Finish morning routine
Cooking with DD2
Paint DD2's nails
If poss ring about tumble drier - it is a bit dodgy
5 mins decluttering in boudoir
School pick up then back for gardening despair Grin

YesEinsteinsMumDid · 23/05/2017 09:15

I watched the whole thing unfurl. The best advice is to look for the good. And based on what I was watching last night there was so much good
However, finding the motivation to get moving this morning is low.

Rosabellajames · 23/05/2017 09:38

Horrid news this morning, devastated for the families involved.

I have been trying to keep up with the thread and trying to fly. We're away tomorrow so I'll be concentrating on packing today.

Ta da
Washer on
Dishwasher on
Kids are at school

Cuppa and then pack, pack and pack some more !!

Stilllivinginazoo · 23/05/2017 09:46

Rosa off anywhere nice?

Rosabellajames · 23/05/2017 10:00

We're off to Ireland zoo for a family party. I will be packing the summer clothes, it's meant to be lovely and sunny over the next few days ! I had bought a couple of new fleeces but it looks like they won't be needed !

mermaidsandunicorns · 23/05/2017 10:27

zoo my ds is quite sensitive too so couldn't say much this morning. He tends to get up at 5am and potters about but told me he had seen some of the news. He didn't say a lot tho he's off to a local theme park today with school so that will cheer him up a bit.

We have a friends daughter for tea tonight so had to pop out for some bits and will do my flying a bit later on

Have a good day everyone xx

Stilllivinginazoo · 23/05/2017 11:03

mermaids distraction is good for sensitive souls I find.my ds buries his head even deeper into Minecraft.he's but sad generally at the moment.does nt want leave primary at end of year-he relies the girls take care of him and very close lil zoo.he devastated they going to go same secondary( local girls school with great ratings)funny really as dd2 not close either if them.she's a bossy britches and they just close ranks in her. Often people think they're twins (ecen thi 20mnth between them)as they talk about things no one else understands, ending each others sentences etc.
He lays awake thinking what happen if sun explodes.terrorism and wars strike fear in his heart as he can't grasp why people are so mean to each other.he's 11 but not a boysy boy-livung house women maybe?he's gentle, thoughtful, bookish. Anyways I waffling not flying!!
Fingers x for weather Rosa hope you gave a lively trip!!

BluePheasant · 23/05/2017 11:06

Ta das

Morning routine
S&S
Washing machine on
Cleaned hob and extractor fan
Online food shop to be delivered day after we get back from hols
Started hoovering downstairs (but distracted by DD being constantly hungry this morning!)

To do

Take DD to activity
Pop M&S for some bits for lunch
Finish hoovering

TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 23/05/2017 12:03

BluePheasant, I am impressed by that organisation!

Not achieved much yet and somehow it is 12:00! DD2 wanted to do her bails herself and despite me being next to her spilt nail polish all over her feet and the bathroom floor. Thankfully we have got it off the floor but her feet are a different story...

TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 23/05/2017 12:03

Must learn to check for typos! Nails obviously.

Stilllivinginazoo · 23/05/2017 14:47

Shopping accomplished
Dd2 collected from School(on sofa with blankie and tissues)
Shop put away
Late lunch
Be time grab lil zoo and ds soon!!

TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 23/05/2017 15:22

Flowers for DD2 zoo

Ta da:-
Late lunch cooked with DD2 and enough to freeze
11,000 loads of laundry as good weather so washed all awkward stuff which has been left
2 mins decluttering in boudoir- must do more
Phoned about tumble drier - can't get suitable repair slot yet but at least am in the system

DD2's feet still covered in nail polish plus there is a spot on the skirting board and I have run out of nail polish Confused

To do:-
Wash up from lunch
Pick up DD1
If time buy more nail polish remover but probably won't be able to do this
Go back to school for gardening evening.

Think you are right about finding the good in the world Einstein.

TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 23/05/2017 15:23

Run out of nail polish remover that should say!

YesEinsteinsMumDid · 23/05/2017 15:25

I have to be. Some of ds' peers were at the concert he has had to help his friends process this today. He is a smidge wobbly tonight but processing well. There may well be pizza and ice cream for tea.

TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 23/05/2017 15:31

Pizza and ice cream sounds sensible. It is horrific.

foxessocks · 23/05/2017 18:25

Hope you and ds ok Einstein . I have also seriously lacked motivation today. The news has got me really down (as it has everybody I know) . We are meant to be going out to a show on Friday but I'm just not feeling like it anymore but I know we have to carry on because what is the alternative?

I've done the daily routine. Dh got home late and we have both got rum and cokes while we wrangle the kids into bed! It just felt like one of those days.

Stilllivinginazoo · 23/05/2017 18:49

Another one of those days going on here.why target youngsters?!Sad
Einstein pizza and ice cream the way forward.poor ds
foxes heavy on the rum I thinkWink.tonight its wraps with corned beef and salad, crisps fruit, yogurts and oreo

Think ve extra hugs for all at bedtime tonight

mermaidsandunicorns · 23/05/2017 20:09

I had to turn all the news, radio and social media off today it was just too much and I felt so sad with it all.

YesEinsteinsMumDid · 23/05/2017 20:39

Go foxes if you don't they win. I have a very rare meeting in the city this weekend. I am going, my only concern is getting to the meeting on time. I do not fear for my safety.

Slurrycart · 23/05/2017 20:51

Trying to carry on as normal here despite the horrific news.

Got nothing done, was supposed to get some errands done before dance class but didn't feel up to it. Binge watched the rest of Big Bang Theory instead until the last minute. Picked up my new meds but too wimpy to take them yet Hmm

Then thought Fuck it and took the Caglets out for dinner. Was really nice.
