Hi all!

Welcome to a brand new month in which we (in a very casual way) follow the FlyLady method to try and banish CHAOS (Can't Have Anyone Over Syndrome), and to declutter in order to remove an excess of STUFF (Something That Undermines Family Fun).

A daily BabyStep, plus missions, daily focuses and weekly zones break our time into manageable chunks - all helped by lots of supportive chat and a Naughty Corner stocked with goodies.

All welcome!

Hi grey it's lovely to be back here. I'm busy trying to work out if there are name changers or newbies! It's tricky!

foxessocks · 06/11/2016 19:30

Ta das
Dinner cooked
Washing up done
Dishwasher on
Bins emptied
Washing hung up
More washing on
Washing put away
Upstairs tidied
Living room toys tidied
Kitchen sides wiped

Hopefully I'll get some decluttering done tomorrow while dd is at nursery

TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 06/11/2016 19:48

NickNacks my DC are also too young yet but I love the whiteboard idea. May steal it! I'm a newbie (ish), joined in September.

Foxes no idea about your washing machine, how annoying. Hopefully the power of Mumsnet will find an answer for you.

Ta das:-
DCs bedtime
DH and I have eaten will snack on leftover party food later
DD1's presents opened and list made for thank yous
Got petrol

To do:-
Before bed routine
Try to rescue house a bit - it's not too bad actually, by that I mean not much worse than usual.
Laundry - have lots to put away as fell behind with it this weekend
Preschool committee 10 mins work
Calendar check
Check which zone we are in and do 5 mins decluttering
Keep an eye out for DD1's Spanish textbook which has been tidied away by DH in a stash and dash grrrr.
Probably optimistic - email declutter
Reflect on the thought that DD1 turned 6 this week- how when I still feel about 12 in my head Smile?!

Happy Sunday everyone.

TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 06/11/2016 19:50

Also to do, must start reading some kind of parenting book! DD2 is a proper threenager atm.

Babblehag · 06/11/2016 19:56

Good to know that its just an 8 yr old boy thing, just thought he would have calmed a bit by now. I didn't think that there was a high chance of it being adhd related as ds1 has adhd and despite him not having the hyperactive element he does have impulsive and inattentive, ds3 is much easier to deal with regardless.

Not much flying done by me but dp has been on form...bless him.
Must go ds1 is dragging me off to play starwars battle front with him
.

Newchick · 06/11/2016 19:59

Ta das

Shined sink
Swept kitchen floor
2 min hot spot am
Area outside back door tidied and swept
3 lots of sheets etc washed dried and back on beds
2 loads other laundry on
Dry laundry put away
15 min cleaning ensuite

Can feel myself getting over enthusiastic and ready to burn out - keeping an eye on myself!

NickNacks · 06/11/2016 20:17

toostressy glad you like it, definitely still it if it will help. Today my 12 yr old cleaned the bannister and hoovered the stairs, with no asking!!! They are generally very helpful kids, not naturally tidy but if given direction they are all very capable. I'm happy! I've been on and off this thread for many years, my house is in much better shape that when I stared even when I fall off the wagon the general habits stay in place. Look forward to chatting more.

8FencingWire · 06/11/2016 20:21

Managed to change sheets, do a load of washing, hoovered and dusted, dishwasher on.
I made a curry and a soup, enough for 4 meals.
I got everything ready for tomorrow, including lunches.
Checked bank accounts, did a shopping list, washed the child, now I'm relaxing before bed.
Hope you all have a nice week!

foxessocks · 06/11/2016 20:34

nicknacks I'm a newbie too sort of also started September after doing a lot of decluttering in late pregnancy and lurking on the thread then joined in properly after I had my little boy. The thread has really helped me to do little and often !

Stilllivinginazoo · 06/11/2016 22:25

nicknacks I start flying over 5year back in the days carrotsandcelery and bessiecat ran the thread.I slip if radar til couple months back, dusted down the wagon and climbed back in boardGrinas zoolets are older now,I start notice routines are paying off,but decluttering still in progress and will be fir quite some time!!

fromwesttoeast · 06/11/2016 23:38

My decluttering will take years! I joined the thread in September too I think, but haven't done much until the half term when I could finally start establishing routines.
I'm now getting the washing machine loaded before bed, and trying to do 15 minutes zone work.
At the moment I am maintaining the little bit of zone 1 that I have decluttered. Reluctantly moving on to zone 2.
My kitchen is not too cluttered so my focus will be cleaning this week. Cleaned out the oven tonight. No idea when that last happened!
Only got other basics done today, oh and filled garden waste bin. Rest of day I spent working.

Cagliostro · 07/11/2016 10:33

Morning Fledglings! Sorry I didn't make it back here with links last night. Am wiped out after a busy social day yesterday.

Monday is Home Bleugh day, baby step 7 is bedtime routine and your mission in zone 2 (kitchen) is to clean under your sink

Right I should get out of bed and do home ed stuff. I can hear DH and the Caglets discussing birds of prey.

Absolutely shitloads to do today in the house and I am tooooo tired and can't be bothered!

Ta das
Dishwasher emptied and loaded
Washing hung up
Washing put away
More washing on
Living room tidied
Bedrooms tidied
Kitchen sides wiped
Rubbish out

To do
Mop bathroom floor
Declutter in the kitchen
Clean under the sink (don't think it's too bad but will be good to see what I've got!)

Cag Brew birds of prey sounds a fascinating topic for a Monday morning!

foxessocks · 07/11/2016 10:58

Oh also to do THANK YOU cards. In fact I'm going to do them right now!

Stilllivinginazoo · 07/11/2016 11:52

Ta das
Fed cats
Fed zoolets
Made pack up
Help ds2 sort ingredients for cooking(chickpea, sweet potato Nd spinach curry)
Washing on
School run
Wipe bath
Wipe sink
Bleach lav
Wash in dryer
Second load on
Look under sinks black with mould(boak)

Any suggestions how to fix that?!

TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 07/11/2016 12:22

Zoo we have a mould remover spray but I only use it as a desperate measure as it seems to be horrid, harsh stuff. Hopefully others might have better ideas!

Ta das:-
Exercise
Dishwasher on
Decluttered some chocolate and breadsticks from kitchen!

To do:-
Studying
Laundry
Post birthday clean up
Some real decluttering in kitchen

Stilllivinginazoo · 07/11/2016 12:38

I wondered if bleach or zoo flora (sorry, phone auto corrected and its kinda funny)might do it?!

Cagliostro · 07/11/2016 13:50

HG Mould Spray is good.

PurpleDaisies · 07/11/2016 17:57

Can I join? We've recently moved house and left our cleaner behind. I'm currently job hunting so I'm going to be doing the majority of the housework and life admin. I don't mind once I'm going but find it really hard to get started. There seem to be about five million things to change address on or organise. It would be great to have some company to keep me on track!

Newchick · 07/11/2016 19:31

Ta das:

Sink shined
Swept kitchen floor
2 mins hot spots
15 mins weeding back yard
Mopped kitchen floor
1 load laundry on

Really pleased to have got through post-holiday laundry so quickly. Kitchen looking much nicer with always clean sink! I've never done the sink shining bit of Flylady as couldn't make myself do it last thing at night as she suggests - I've been doing it first thing in morning before everyone else is up and that's working much better for me.

TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 07/11/2016 20:59

Hi all, welcome Purple.

Ta da:-
Bedtime
Laundry in progress
5 min kitchen declutter

To do:-
Read through textbook before bed
Before bed routine
More laundry

Stilllivinginazoo · 07/11/2016 21:07

Cagliostro · 08/11/2016 00:46

Baby step 8 control journal

Mission a kitchen shelf

Tuesday is planning day so get those diaries out!

I've not achieved much today. It was a good day home ed wise though which feels good as we've slipped a bit lately (since DD recently revealed a lot of the nasty stuff that went on at school I've been very wary of pushing too hard)

Newchick · 08/11/2016 07:04
