Hi all!

Welcome to a brand new month in which we (in a very casual way) follow the FlyLady method to try and banish CHAOS (Can't Have Anyone Over Syndrome), and to declutter in order to remove an excess of STUFF (Something That Undermines Family Fun).

A daily BabyStep, plus missions, daily focuses and weekly zones break our time into manageable chunks - all helped by lots of supportive chat and a Naughty Corner stocked with goodies.

All welcome!

MercuryRising · 01/11/2016 19:35

It has been along tiring day. Ds2 slept poorly last night and was up early so I have come to post early incase tonight is the same. I can't figure out if it is his teeth that are bothering him or if he is beginning to get a cold. I think it feels worse because he is usually such a happy baby so we aren't used to him crying. Despite this I did get a little flying done.

Ta da
House dehalloweened
Downstairs hoovered
Bathroom cleaned
Dry washing put away
Washload in
Dc fed and washing up done
Assisted ds1 and dd with homework

I have also just applied for ds1's secondary place. I agree they definitely grow up too quickly zoo

Welcome back nicknacks and thank you for leading the threads sc and cag

Stilllivinginazoo · 01/11/2016 20:07

mercury hope you get some sleep and D's is better soon.xx

TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 01/11/2016 20:08

Hi all and welcome to new people Smile. Thanks SC and cag Flowers.

Work day today but was lucky to have quite a productive day and lunch break so...

Ta da:-
Bit of study
Deferred starting new job with the extra work until next year - won't have to be interviewed and I just can't get all the induction stuff done while also studying. The last straw (I have ranted in another thread about that) was them wanting me to attend a 6 day course at short notice. So all booked for next year now.
DD1's bday today!!!
Bedtime
DH cooking tea

To do:-
Before bed routine
Calendar check
Emails (inbox is a disaster)
Bit of party admin for weekend
Laundry
5 mins decluttering

Have a cold and a sore ankle (it's dodgy anyway) and really feel the need to collapse in front of telly tonight so am hoping I might get half an hour later.

Cagliostro · 01/11/2016 20:19

Hi all :) sorry I TOTALLY forgot to say a huge thank you to SC for leading us beautifully through October! Blush

No Flying done here since room rescue this morning, which was not too difficult as for once I'd actually bothered doing some last night as well. I do need to stick a needs-ironing wash on soon though.

Had a lesson this morning, then spent over an hour - and I hate to admit this - hacking away at the huge knotty mess that is my hair! :( I have now thinned it out a bit and hoping that it'll be more manageable. The combination of joint/muscle pain and major self-care failings makes for a scruffbag me :( Blush problem is due to sensory issues I HAVE to be able to tie my hair back, so a proper short cut is never going to work for me.

Anyway, now I've got that off my chest! Sorry. Blush

Getting the Caglets into the bath in a moment and then hoping for a restful evening. I have done something to my thumb and it hurts and won't bend properly. Hmm

foxessocks · 01/11/2016 21:49

Gah. Had one of those evenings tonight. Just don't feel quite right z grumpy with dh and dd which I feel guilty aboit. tired and couldn't be bothered to do much even just watching TV seemed too much effort. Needless to say I didn't get much more of my list done!

Ta das
Dishwasher unloaded and loaded again!
Some more washing on
Tidied living room of toys

Ate leftover Halloween treats Blush

foxessocks · 01/11/2016 21:50

Argh sorry meant to say hope everyone has had better evenings and have restful nights!

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeG0es · 01/11/2016 22:45

I've also just applied for secondary school for DD, she won't be going to the same one as DS as his is special school, so we had a free choice, but have plumped for our catchment secondary.

Not much Flying done here, lots of homework and extra-curricular stuff. And I have also eaten too many Hallowe'en sweets.

trumpybum1 · 01/11/2016 22:55

Hi everyone. Hope you don't mind me joining in my house has seriously taken a back seat since DD was born (7 months ago) and I seriously need to get things sorted! Mind you 13 hour shifts don't help matters!!!

fromwesttoeast · 01/11/2016 23:35

Just done my 15 minutes decluttering of understairs cupboard! Few pairs of battered footwear items and a handleless umbrella in bin!

Cagliostro · 02/11/2016 01:09

WEDNESDAY 2ND NOVEMBER

Baby Step 2 - oh yaaaay it's the 'getting dressed to lace up shoes' one. Oh the controversy!

The mission (in Zone 1) should you choose to accept it is... sorting out the dumped shoes, coats etc - always a good one here... [surveys teetering pile of footwear]

it's Wednesday so the focus of the day is Anti Procrastination - what have you been putting off lately? DO IT! (must take own advice at some point)

_-

Another busy day here tomorrow - pupil/playdate in the morning, then a reptile handling workshop (how many geckos will I get to hold? EXCITED!) and then dash back for Brownies and possibly a pupil after. Very glad it's not a rail strike. Unlike Thursday-Saturday. Hmm

I am feeling less crappy having had a nice long soak. :)

GreyandGrumpy48 · 02/11/2016 08:00

Didn't get as much done yesterday as I hope- one load of washing, hoovering downstairs and quick room rescue of the living room as we had someone coming. However this morning while I was waiting for the kettle to boil I decluttered a shelf in the kitchen which is the dumping ground for receipts, tickets etc so I am pleased about that and it only took 10 minutes. I can't understand why I didn't do it sooner.

Sweepingchange · 02/11/2016 08:42

Good morning all!

A very warm welcome to Trumpybum1! Sounds a though you have loads on your plate atm - hope the system helps!

Well done GreyandGrumpy! Sometimes you just have to grab those 5 min decluttering opportunities when you can. It's very hard to do though; rl + routine choring (every day basics: laundry, food shopping, cooking, basic tidying and cleaning) constantly get in the way! That's why this system is good; because it ring-fences a bit of decluttering time each day! (Which is more realistic ifysim.)

Have a great time reptile handling Cag!

And sympathies/good luck to those of you (and your dc) going through the secondary school choice/waiting to hear process. I remember filling in the 'four choices' form and how stressful it all was still not sure wedid the right thing. Hope your dc get your top choices!

Big waves to everyone else! Sorry, no time for more personals as travelling to Blighty today until end of week so just a few last min things to do (like empty out fridge which didn't get done yesterday). Otherwise ploughed through a shed load of tidying and sorting yesterday and restored house to some sort of order and nearly got to bottom of laundry pile and fortnightly ironing lady has actually turned up today - whey hey - so feel vaguely on top of things for once. Desperately need to declutter home office (those forementioned boxes of random crap) upon return!!

Good luck to all the newcomers!

Keep going everyone and 'see' you in a few days time!

foxessocks · 02/11/2016 14:54

That was meant to say sit in the naughty corner with a curly surluve for my eye on but forgot to actually type that bit so it wouldn't have made much sense sorry!

foxessocks · 02/11/2016 14:55

FFS! CURLY WURLY

TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 02/11/2016 15:30

Hi all, study day at uni today so managed to get some study done! Was in naughty corner last night as have a cold and sat in front of telly and felt sorry for myself. Then overslept today so morning was a disorganised rush.

Ta da:-
Studying
Filed in parents evening form
That's it
Emailed to sort out induction for new job (really starting to lose the will with this as it just seems to be so much work for a new job but current manager so horrible that will persevere with an escape plan in case I need it).

To do:-
Laundry
Dishwasher
Typical dash to pick up DCs - session late to start now so am worried about how long it will go on for!
5 mins holiday unpacking
10 mins paper declutter
Bedtime, bath time etc
