Hi all!

Welcome to a brand new month in which we (in a very casual way) follow the FlyLady method to try and banish CHAOS (Can't Have Anyone Over Syndrome), and to declutter in order to remove an excess of STUFF (Something That Undermines Family Fun).

A daily BabyStep, plus missions, daily focuses and weekly zones break our time into manageable chunks - all helped by lots of supportive chat and a Naughty Corner stocked with goodies.

All welcome!

All best for poorly guinea pig.

Ta das today:

Shined sink
Swept kitchen and hall floor
5 mins hotspots
1 load laundry on

Bit of a meh day today. Got out this evening to yoga class so home late and off to bed now shattered.

CotswoldStrife · 24/11/2016 21:55

Hope the guinea pig improves ASAP. Sounds like everyone has been busy today.

I should be packing for our one night trip - me and DD have bad colds and she seems to be getting a bit worse. I am putting my trust in Calpol!

I will post the links now, thanks for doing Saturday's links SC.

Sweepingchange · 24/11/2016 22:47

No worries Cotswold hope you and dd feel better soon.

And hope piggie ok purple agree it is really stressful when one's furries are unwell.

Thank you for good wishes everyone! Sending Cake in rtn!

  • I did 30 mins x 2 tidying - cooked veg soup - and two loads laundry - and put away washing for 2 × 15 mins and that was it today Blush a part from three hours of hwk (yes, three hrs)supervision with dd. It never ends. More equations sadly + geog revision (rivers of Europe) + endless conjugaision of Latin & Fr verbs.

Felt too ill to go to supermarket so dd had to be content with lentil soup and cheese and ham toastie for supper. Dog not helping as he is refusing to go out with dog walker for wierd reason (dh away) so had to struggle around the block with him x 3. Hoping to feel better and be more productive tomorrow! Stacks to do ... .

Sweepingchange · 24/11/2016 22:50

Sorry that must qualify as most boring post ever written. Grin

TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 25/11/2016 12:35

SC I'm sure I have written more boring posts Smile.

Happy Friday everyone.

Ta das:-
After having been told by 3 separate people that I look really tired I have taken the morning for some pampering (DD2 in preschool) so had haircut and eyebrows done Smile and done an exercise DVD.
Unexpectedly started Xmas shopping as saw some lovely bargains while getting hair cut
Went to bank
Stuff to charity shop

To do:-
Pick up DD2 now from preschool
Food shop later
Before bed routine
School Xmas fair after school
Change sheets
5 mins boudoir declutter
5 mins paper declutter
work on presentation

PurpleDaisies · 25/11/2016 12:42

sc I love a boring post. Grin

Ta da's
Guinea pig a bit sad this morning so needed hand feeding
Been to bank to pay in Scottish £100 note (the most inconvenient way to be paid if you're not in Scotland)
Swept kitchen floor

To do
Bake a cake
Finish sorting guest room for later
Mini food shop
Tidy living room

Sweepingchange · 25/11/2016 14:45

Oh well in that case ... Grin ... here's another boring one ... .

[Cue violin music]

Have the kind of teary-eyed cold with hacking cough and streaming nose that people generally take a good few horrified steps back from when they see you! Grin

Feel dizzy and rotten. But fridge is bare and dh away so tottered to supermarket pushing my old lady trolley looking like a 90 yr old (although probably most 90 yr olds are more sprightly than me atm). So at least dd now has fresh veg and fruit and fish to eat tonight.

Other than that ... nada.

[Sneezes, shivers, waves to all]

Could seriously cry about the state of the house though ... .

Whey hey to a much deserved bit of pampering Toostressy!

Aw at hand-feeding gp Purple

And well done re your lists both!

PurpleDaisies · 25/11/2016 15:18

Oh sweeping that sounds so miserable-I felt like that earlier this week and it's just going now. If you can possibly squeeze in a hot shower/bath I highly recommend it.

I'm feeling proud of having cake in the oven and the dishwasher on. I
got lost on the way home from the supermarket and the ice cream was very melted so I tidied it up in the best way I knew how...
Our visitors don't need to know there was ever ice cream.

Aw at hand-feeding gp Purple
It's a bit less cute than it sounds. Gp's have to eat constantly or their digestion stops and they can die so you have to make them eat when they're feeling too ill to do it themselves. The hand feeding food is like slurry! You fill a syringe with it (no needle) and squirt it into their mouth. If you've got a helper and a moderately cooperative GP it isn't too bad but on your own you both end up wearing most of the food. Luckily dh is a well trained helper. GP is now used to squirty food and mostly only ends up with a little green moustache. She's perked up a lot now which is nice. This is her (front) with her two sisters.

Sweepingchange · 25/11/2016 16:38

OOOOhhhhhhh they are lovely Purple that picture has cheered me up no end Grin

So glad the patient is perking up! I've had gps in the past and they are the same as rabbits when it comes to eating (and horses!) so I know about the theory of hand feeding although I've never had to do it in practice yet. They are obviously receiving 5 star care from your good self! Grin at green moustache!!

foxessocks · 25/11/2016 16:51

Cute guinea pigs purple!

Sorry you're feeling poorly SC I feel like we've all got constant colds at the moment. I guess it's the season for it.

Ta das
Dishwasher on
Washing on
Washing put away
Decluttered car
Food shopping ordered and meal plan done

Dh is working again this weekend so it doesn't feel like a proper Friday night !

foxessocks · 25/11/2016 16:53

Highlight of my day today was getting to my dds preschool a bit early to pick her up and looked through the window to see her doing disco dancing with her friends to some classic 90s floor fillers!

amorita · 25/11/2016 17:08

Those guinea pigs are too cute. Love their markings Smile

I forgot about this thread. I will defo be on board next month for the dreaded pre-xmas clean!

Sweepingchange · 25/11/2016 20:53

Hi all

Just posting the links for tomorrow (Sat 26th) while Cotswold is travelling.

Cotswold hope you are having a good trip and hope you and dd feel better too!

Baby-step no 26 - here. Flylady gems such as "You are never behind!", "it takes one month to establish a habit" and 'no perfectionism allowed'! etc etc.

Tomorrow will be our last day in Zone 4: The master bedroom here.

Spend 15 mins decluttering in Zone 4.

When you have finished decluttering, the detailed cleaning list (if you are at that stage) for Zone 4 is here.

No mission because it is the weekend - yay!

[Just for info: next week from 27 to 30 Nov inclusive, we will be in the sitting room.]

The daily focus for Saturday is family fun.

The monthly habit for November is menu planning!

I was intending to include a holiday mission here but there doesn't seem to be on after mission 30 so don't quite know what to do - ho hum - sorry about that!

Flight plan summary of all of the above (which should update automatically) is here.

Have a great weekend fledglings!

*

Sweepingchange · 25/11/2016 20:58

A warm welcome (back?) to Amorita!

Grin Grin at nursery infants strutting their stuff Foxes! Sounds fab!

Hope everyone else OK! It is quiet on here atm - it is a frantic time of year though - hope everyone is surviving the madness!

I have slightly redeemed myself this evening by emptying and stacking dw. Cleaning down kitchen surfaces and bin lid and shining sink. And making dd a fish supper and dh (who should be returning any minute) a pearl barley risotto veggie thing. Then cleared kitchen again.

Also gave rabbits a good clean out.

And tumble dried some sheets.

Have a restful weekend as humanly possible everyone!

Sweepingchange · 25/11/2016 20:59

Oh yes, also walked the furry x 2

Newchick · 25/11/2016 21:54

Ta das here:

Shined sink
Swept kitchen floor
5 mins hotspots
1 load laundry on
Picked up mower from repairer

8FencingWire · 26/11/2016 07:22

God, I walked into the house yesterday and realised I haven't done anything for 3 days, counting the number of coffee cups by the sink!!!I came down with a bad cold and I just got up, gone to work, came back to eat and sleep. So yesterday after work I emptied the DW, loaded it again, did a massive load of dark washing, hoovered, dusted, zoflored the floors, had a hot bath and collapsed.
DD at her dad's, I am about to go to work. Pizza tonight. And bed.

Afreshstartplease · 26/11/2016 09:39

Morning all

Yesterday I started trying to declutter / deep clean / move around my kitchen and elder dcs room

I managed to move them couple of bits of furniture in dcs room but didn't get to cleaning it. Also started one corner of kitchen.

Didn't get far due to ds being very awake most of the afternoon / evening!

Currently waiting on food shop delivery. I've managed to run out of washing stuff which is unheard of in this house! So the washer is not on for once but the dryer is from last load last night.
Ivr just washed half the pots, wiped the table down and sorted the steriliser out. Now cuddling ds to sleep Smile

Next

Finish pots
Empty dryer
Put away shopping
Encourage 3 year old to get dressed

TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 26/11/2016 10:18

Hi all, welcome back Amorita. Foxes, your DD's dancing sounds so cute!

Making a conscious effort to spend much less time on MN as was horrified yesterday as I wasted the whole evening mindlessly on here Sad. Is OK now though as in car with DH driving so letting myself go on :).

Ta da:-
5 mins decluttering of a box of random stuff in the bedroom

To do:-
Presentation writing - on way to birthday party and DH coming with us (rare) so I can hopefully sit and be anti social and get on with it there. It gets to the evening and I so tired and don't do any so need to find some blocks of time in the day.
Laundry - how is there always so much?!
Some kind of food shop, maybe online
5 mins declutter
Find some time to go for a run, either today or tomorrow
Keep eye out for a birthday card for my Dad

Hope everyone has as good a weekend as possible Brew

foxessocks · 26/11/2016 15:29

toostressy I'm the same with MN sometimes it's amazing how fast time flies when you're wasting time on here!! Then I cut down for a while and feel much more productive !

Ta das
Dishwasher emptied
Two loads of washing done
Picked up a parcel and got some groceries

Haven't done much else as I've been wallowing in self pity this afternoon which I'm annoyed about. Can I have a quick rant? Very trivial really but dh works most Saturdays at the moment and today I was expecting him home around lunchtime but he is still not here so I'm on my own with the kids and I'm bored and stressed and tired and tearful. Ridiculous really but that's how I feel. Just want some adult conversation or to do something more interesting than go to the supermarket. Ds is refusing to nap. Dd has decided she doesn't want naps anymore at all. We've got friends coming over tonight but I don't want them to I want to leave the house preferably on my own!!!

Oh and I don't want anyone to touch me for the rest or the day. Dd climbing all over me and ds wanting feeding all the time. I feel really mean but he has been whining in his bouncy chair for ages now because I just don't want to have to get my boobs out again! Hmm

Sorry that was a bigger rant than I intended Blush

Cagliostro · 26/11/2016 16:32

Not normally a guinea pig fan but they are CUTE! :)

Right, we've been given a landlord visit date of December 9th. Feel like we've got a stay of execution :o Blush will be away for a couple of days before that though so mustn't get complacent.

I get like that sometimes fox just like, FFS give me space! Total sympathy with being 'touched out'. I get 'talked out' too when hearing anything just makes my ears and brain hurt.

Spent all day tidying, I feel like I've been no help at all as I've mostly been sitting on the bed slowly sorting stuff. DH went up in the attic and discovered shedloads of stuff we'd forgotten about. Ick.
