Ok, so as there is no thread, and I can't remember or find a volunter for this month I declare summer mode operational.

This means:

  1. You are still welcome to join and post
  1. If you want there to be links and no one has posted them, feel free to post them.
  2. As technical thread leader I shall be hanging out in the naughty corner bar
  3. We'll still answer questions for anyone wanting information on the fly lady system and support each other. It's just a little more relaxed.

And with that, bring on July and crazy pants school holiday stuff...

Stilllivinginazoo · 17/07/2016 18:41

PS,third attempt at empty filter saw last of the teddy that had disembowelled itself eliminated.finally able to wash the load that was trapped in there (typically school clothes Zoolets need for tomorrowHmm)this means I have no choice but put in damn dryer and turn house into oven

Cagliostro · 17/07/2016 19:28

Ah, at least you've solved the mystery now!

When DS was a still nursing I used washable breast pads rather than disposables, DH found a shredded pad in the washing machine motor once Blush sooo glad he was the one to fix it rather than calling someone out :o

So I threw away a couple of dodgy cables, I also did a jigsaw to check if all the pieces were there :o I think I'm going to empty the box of the rest of the paperwork, so I can put the jigsaws in there straight away, at least it's done then.

I've also hung up some of the DCs' dressing up outfits that DH washed - they're too big to fit in the box so I've decided they can go on hangers, eventually they'll go on door hooks in their bedroom but for now I've hidden them in our cupboard to keep them out of the way for a bit!

I think I will try and put the loose DVDs away tonight as well. I will be without the laptop as we're playing white noise for DD at bedtime. So may as well do something useful with the enforced internet-free time :o

Slingcrump · 17/07/2016 22:09

Whoo hoo re: curtain pole! Grin
But RIP to disembowelled teddy Sad

And wow to your list Stilliving! [Hands over deep heat muscle embrocation] Respect for making it to garden charity event in the first place!

Hope wm now working properly. Agree with Cag nowt worse than wm failure especially with sunny spell approach. [I am gearing up to wash winter knits, woollens and coats etc]

Cag Bloomin well done for keeping going doing bits and pieces here and there despite feeling below par - rest assured it does make such a difference - hats off!

Oooh yes ... the cable and usb and electricals thing ...

I was rather chuffed with myself a yr or so back that I had cleared an entire drawer in chest in hall for these. Unfortunately it is now choc-a-bloc with cables and plugs and chargers and god knows what. Even more unfortunately, no-one else in the house seems to have much more of an idea which specific device they relate to either! That's the problem with clutter, even when you have provided it with a proper home, it still has the audacity to go on multiplying! Time for a cull I think ... .

Anyway, thanks for the sleepover solidarity everyone. It was much appreciated! Smile

Teens are now long gone and a good time was had by all [thank heavens!] I've known most of them since they were tiny and I can't get accustomed to how tall and loud they are now!

Dh and I shared breakfast duties in the end because it needed all hands on deck. We decided, now that they are older, to risk a "full English" which is not commonly consumed over here. We decided to do it "army style" so I manned trays of bacon and sausages and mushrooms while dh looked after eggs and grilled tomatoes. Teens then formed an orderly queue with plates and we served them as they came through kitchen. DD stood at end squidging HP sauce and handing out hunks of baguette! Large plates of pastries and bowls of chopped up melon on the side with jugs of oj. Thankfully, they loved it and scoffed the lot!! 'Twas like being visited by a plague of locusts (in the nicest possible way Grin)!

Basically all I did for the rest of the day was clear up and run the dw and wiped down kitchen and dining room surfaces rather a lot. Also managed two loads of laundry ( but cba to hang up tonight) and animal husbandry and one dog walk. (And lots of doggy ear brushing after that because he had "caught" a load of grass seeds en route]

Dh far more exhausted than he should be after a weekend though. I'm worried about him because he has a horribly gruelling work and travel schedule this week and he will not take any time to go to docs to check blood pressure etc and he has recently put on weight around waist (as have I) which is not good health wise.

Not helped by disturbance in street at 3am this morning. Dh went out to investigate in his boxer shorts and t-shirt and was confronted by the sight of 6 police cars and 20 armed officers brandishing their weapons in rather an alarming fashion. When dh enquired as to what was going on he was told politely but rather firmly that "there was no need to be concerned because they were carrying out a "traffic exercise" ". At 3 am when there is virtually no traffic on the road..??? Mmmmm..... .

Cotswold hope you had a well deserved break this weekend after manic end of term stuff. You too Blue!

Waves to Einstein and everyone else [and puts remains of choc birthday cake on naughty corner bar for everyone to help themselves... .] before crumping off to bed ...

Greymalkin · 18/07/2016 07:15

Hi everyone,

Just place marking for now. Will catch up on the thread in a bit, hope everyone is well and the newbies are still flapping along with the flock.

celeste83 · 18/07/2016 08:17

Morning all,

What a lovely weekend. Its been so hot here and and usual my housework has suffered when the sun comes out. Need to play catch up today. There footprints marks on the kitchen floor, theres crumbs on the lounge floor, the furniture needs a flying visit from mr sheen, thers toothpaste stains in the bathroom basin, there are germs in the loos needing a hello from domestos, my ds's room looks like a hurricane has travelled through, and there is a pile of washing that needs ironing. Where do i start? Hmm Gonna make a cuppa then get cracking and hopefully get the place in some sort of order again!

celeste83 · 18/07/2016 10:42

Ta da

fed ds
washed dishes
wiped kitchen worktop
emptied kitchen bin
made beds
tidied ds room
wiped bathroom basin
domestos bathroom loo
put new towels in bathroom

Am now sat outside with a cold drink. Need to budge myself soon or downstairs won't be done. Too nice for chores today though Hmm

Cagliostro · 18/07/2016 11:51

Morning everyone :) although there doesn't seem to be much morning left!

SC that sounds rather... odd, what happened in the small hours! Glad the sleepover was ok. Breakfast sounds amazing!

I didn't get as much done as I'd hoped last night - DD and DS were messing about at bedtime (nothing new there Hmm) and DD managed to split that little flap of tissue that joins her top lip to her gum. It was pretty nasty. She's ok today though - been out practising her basketball skills ready for the club she's trying out tonight. :)

Anyway, last night I did eventually manage to put a load of DVDs away, and reorganised some (we are gradually moving them into new 'books' in some form of order). That was about it though really.

This morning I am feeling rather uninspired.

Cagliostro · 18/07/2016 11:51

And well done Celeste for that list! And hello Grey :)

Cagliostro · 18/07/2016 12:26

I forgot, I also sorted out some of the craft drawers last night. Not the most essential of tasks, but I could sit down and bumble along with it quietly. And thank you SC I am trying to do small bits when I can :)

Stilllivinginazoo · 18/07/2016 14:38

cageven little bits make a differenceWink

celeste83 · 18/07/2016 15:07

Cag Ouch, i hope dd is ok, that sounds painfull just thinking about.

Zoo Mr Sheen had a coughing fit in my living room this morning. As for my bedroom well less said about the dust problem in there. Out of all the rooms in the house our bedroom is probably the least i attend to. I keep it tidy but actual dusting is once in a blue moon.

Ta da

fed ds
washed dishes
wiped kitchen worktop
emptied kitchen bin
made beds
tidied ds room
wiped bathroom basin
domestos bathroom loo
put new towels in bathroom
dusted the lounge
hoovered downstairs
domestos downstairs loo
mopped kitchen floor

Done the main things i needed to do. Still got the laundry pile but i'm hoping i find some motivation and energy to do that whilst watching the soaps this evening. Need to think aobut making tea soon. Something light, probably fajitas.

We've got a fan but its disgusting and will need me to take it apart and clean the blades, which in itself is far too much effort in this heat Blush

Slingcrump · 18/07/2016 15:34

Afternoon, boiling here, also need to find fan and clean!

Cag sounds as if you are doing lots more than you realise! All those little things truly add up! Hope your dd is ok!

Yay, great to see you Grey!

Crikey Celeste and Stilllivinginazoo you have both been mahoosively busy - am mahoosively impressed!

Feeling completely lacking in energy today but have:
sorted animals
one dog walk
fetched dh shirts from laundry
hung up contents of wm to dry
re-fed wms with towels, dried and folded them
a bit of admin
chemist run
cleaned hand basins and lavs with Dettol
prepped supper (greek salad and chips)
contacted dog-sitter about holidays
emptied and filled dw
starting packing for dh who is rushed off his feet

I should hoover entire house and stairs but cba!

That's me done for the day I think. Still a bit crumped!

Cagliostro · 18/07/2016 15:40

I haven't even thought of what to do for dinner! DD is off to basketball later, I'll have to do dinner for when she gets home. Thankfully she's going with a friend so I don't need to take her (the mum offered so her DD has a friend to go with! Win win!). I've done sod all apart from some Spanish with the Caglets, and making them tidy up the toys they got out this morning. The rest of the house is a tip though! I'm not really sure what to do about it today. Hmm

Thanks Celeste I was actually worrying last night that it might need stitches, but it did stop bleeding very quickly and it's fine today thank goodness. :)

Cagliostro · 18/07/2016 15:41

Oh actually I did work out what I could do. I think I'll go into DCs room later and gather some toys/books that I think they may be happy to get rid of. They are a bit overwhelmed at the idea of 'getting rid of stuff' but if I suggest particular things it seems easier for them to make decisions.

Cagliostro · 18/07/2016 17:50

Right. I had a quick sweep round the Caglets' room and I've got some cuddlies and picture books that they don't use much - I've put them in a pile for them to go through. I'm going to attempt to sell some of it as some of my local home ed friends have done well with that lately, but otherwise it'll all be donated.

CotswoldStrife · 18/07/2016 22:04

Some impressive lists of accomplishments here today. I have done a lot of washing up and a bit of laundry. Not as much tidying as I should.

DH has been into the loft for more fans, it's hot, hot, hot! I am typing this sitting in the garden - it's cooler now it's dark for a start but it's lovely and we have a full moon to gaze at as well. Sitting outside with a cup of tea but I know there is wine left in the bottle and might avoid the further washing up and get my Kindle in a minute Grin. That would be a great way to end the day!

Cagliostro · 19/07/2016 00:29

We need to buy a fan tomorrow. It's ridiculously hot and DD is barely sleeping (DS however is still in his onesie and says it's too cold with the window open. Oh the absolute joy of siblings sharing a bedroom Angry).

Didn't get much done at all - DD was knackered after basketball; she really enjoyed playing it but she just hated the noise. I guess due to lots of echoing, bouncing etc in the hall. So she won't be going back and she's quite upset, as she likes the game, but that kind of noise just gets to her. :(

Tomorrow I'm going to get the Caglets to go through the pile of stuff I got together from their room. DD has reclaimed one cuddly toy but TBH I was expecting that one. :)

Need to stick a wash on too, and organise next maths lesson etc.

Slingcrump · 19/07/2016 06:37

Bloody hell it's only 7.30am and all I've done is had a bath and washed my hair and get dressed. It's boiling already!!

celeste83 · 19/07/2016 08:35

Don't worry Sling, not much here gets done before 9am. Not sure how much will be done here full stop today with the weather forecast. I'm not too good with heat. Got a day to myself though as ds will be at nursury all day.

Slingcrump · 19/07/2016 09:18

I'm not good in hot weather either Celeste. Hope you can enjoy/profit from your child-free day though!

Congrats on the decluttering Cag!

Hope you can keep cool today Cotswold!

Big cooling wing flaps to Stillliving Blue Einstein Honu Whoknows Toffee Knitting¨ Ellie Feetheart and everyone I've missed!

I find the only way to cope with hot weather is to get up at crack of sparrows and do as much as possible before 12 noon.

To this end I have:
fed animals
greeted and paid dog walker
discovered that iron causes electrics to blow in basement (bum) so will have to replace it
found an elusive pair of trousers
written and posted two cards
emptied dw and loaded it with a few things
emptied wms and hung up two loads outside
surfed on-line for new iron and bought it (they are so expensive Shock!!)
done a general tidy up on ground floor
got cross with dd who is lying on sofa doing nothing (pointed out to her that we are already half way through July and she hasn't even opened remedial revision bundles in French and Latin)

Just about to go down and tackle laundry room of doom ....

Enjoy the sunshine everyone!

Stilllivinginazoo · 19/07/2016 12:47

Cagliostro · 19/07/2016 13:27

Ugh I am not a happy bunny in this weather.

DCs barely agreed to any of the things I found to get rid of (although I must say it's an achievement that they agreed to ANYTHING going at all). Photos taken and will list on FB later, other not-worth-selling stuff is going in a bag to drop at the charity shop on Saturday. I'll try and sneak in a few other bits that I know won't be missed (things like cars - DS has a massive box full so I can easily siphon off a few).

I should go get dressed now... don't think I actually have since Thursday Blush Blush and I would rather curl up and eat ice cream. But I have to take DD to writing class, and buy the fan on the way home too (and most likely something easy for dinner).

celeste83 · 19/07/2016 14:35

Impressive lists Sling and Zoo

I'm affraid i've not be so productive.

Ta da:

made beds
washed breakfast dishes
wiped kitchen worktop
general tidy up
swept in the garden
done some weeding

Thats it and i doubt anything more substantial will be done either other than making tea. Just not in the mood to be cleaning in this heat am banking on this being the best day of the week so i can hit the bit chores the next three days

Caglio I find the best time to ditch ds toys is right after xmas as its easier to argue you don't have the space or they don't play with bits anymore.
