Good morning Hope people are feeling better this morning.

OK..in the kitchen this week - times in well with the removal of a huge pile of papers from the worktop last night - I'll sort through them later today (ds and I are out this morning) and try to tackle the drawer I keep utensils in too (it keeps jamming - goodness knows what's caught up in there!)

Not much time today but also need to -
~empty td and put non-ironing clothes away
~empty dw
~put away some bits and pieces brought in from the car yesterday (sitting in hall at the moment)

I'm going to leave it at that cos I really don't have much time today. Anything extra I do manage will be a bonus

satinshoes · 08/01/2007 08:54

Morning all. I love kitchen week. Off to take DD to preschool but will check in later.

ludaloo · 08/01/2007 09:03

Morning All

I love Kitchen week too! I have a sticky knife and fork drawer too...can't find out why it sticks though...today I'll have a good route through and take it all the way out.
I might do the junk drawer underneath it while I'm at it

Where can I keep my cookery books do you think? I have very little space and no shelves to speak of...at the moment they are in the bottom drawer but I have to share that space with t-towels and dishcloths and Aprons and its all kind of jammed in there!

Well kids are back at school tomorrow...so I need to make sure everything is ready for them to go back..hunt out bags, uniforms etc...
Dd1 has pestered me for school dinners, she has always had a packed lunch but the last week of term she had school dinners as it was christmas and she came home each day very excited about it....so we'll see how she goes (she is usually a very fussy eater)

Right Well...got to get dd1 before long, and really need to crack on, so have a good day xx

satinshoes · 08/01/2007 09:52

OK, DD at preschool.

I've been to post office and posted a parcel

DD2 is asleep so I'm off to make a cuppa and then plan to :

CLEAN BREAD BIN
CLEAN CANISTER & STAINLESS STEEL ACCESSORIES
CLEAN OVEN DOORS
CLEAN TOASTER & CRUMB TRAY
CLEAN (& DESCALE IF NEEDED) KETTLE

I can do all of those with windolene.

And then :
CLEAN CUPBOARD DOORS
CLEAN KITCHEN DOORS
CLEAN SKIRTING BOARDS
CLEAN SPLASHBACKS

I can do all of those with soapy water.

Sounds loads bit I should be able to do most of it while the kettle is boiling

DimpledThighs · 08/01/2007 10:19

Morning all!

jelley early bird again! tahnks for the links - I don't think I would find them on my own!

shouldbe there are days like this, I had thurs fri off last week as dd started school and didn't want to be at home - didn't set me back too much (but bit of a shove up the bum to get myself back to it!)

ludaloo you will have more time come tomorrow I guess. Re: cookery books, for ages mine lived on the bookshelves, then in a plastic box by my bed, but never inteh kitchen. Now I have them shelved along the worksurface on a bit I don't need much. Can you put a shelf up in your kitchen? Or find somewhere not in the kitchen?

satinshoes wow that is a great list, good luck!

Today I hope to:

  • clean cupboards and splash backs
  • hoover and wipe floor
  • bleach sink
  • file bills and sort out all the stuff by the back door
  • put decs upstairs for dp to put in the loft
  • sort mantlepiece hotspot
  • move telly and put on freecylce
  • do room plan to make it move inviting to sit in.

Good luck all!

Later.....

satinshoes · 08/01/2007 10:22

Yay.....cuppa & caramel shortbread (my reward) finished and look what I managed to do!

CLEAN BREAD BIN done
CLEAN CANISTER & STAINLESS STEEL ACCESSORIES done
CLEAN OVEN DOORS done
CLEAN TOASTER & CRUMB TRAY done
CLEAN KETTLE done
CLEAN CUPBOARD DOORS done
CLEAN KITCHEN DOORS done
CLEAN SKIRTING BOARDS done
CLEAN SPLASHBACKS done

I also wiped the walls down so no more fingerprints

Obviously I've left the nasty jobs like clean oven etc but I'll try and work my way through the rest of my 'kitchen list' this week.

satinshoes · 08/01/2007 10:24

ludaloo. Ref cookbooks. I decided a while ago to take all of the most used recipes and copy them into a notebook. I have now put all of the cookbooks onto a really high shelf that I can reach so is no good to me, but I have the notebook in a drawer by the cooker so my fave recipes are always to hand. It took a while but you could do that as a mini project when you dont fancy cleaning

Flamesparrow · 08/01/2007 10:35

I think I need to find my kitchen before I can fling

Very tired, but I can't put it off any longer.

Today

~Do all dishes
~shine sink

DimpledThighs · 08/01/2007 10:40

flamesparrow good luck!

LRWG · 08/01/2007 10:42

Oooooo - never heard of this site before. Off to join now Thanks ladies!

taylormama · 08/01/2007 11:15

morning all - well i am tackling the kitchen later and i will do some cooking for the freezer so i can feel super organised.

Bathroom is done
Beds made
Bag of stuff to take to charity shop on way to supermarket
Put away clean laundry and get my towel wash on
Tackle the pile of paperwork which i am ignoring

dreamteamgirl · 08/01/2007 11:18

Hoorah, kitchen week!!

Draw mission is perfect timing, I trapped my hand in that trying to close it last night LOL LOL

ludalou I would take them out of kitchen, and put on a bookshelf or just keep one good all round one in there. Books get very greasy in kitchen if they live in there, especially on shelves. You can always take it in to kitchen if you need it

Good luck with finding kitchen Flamesparrow satinshoes, its offical you are amazing! Enjoy the caramel.

LRWG sign up for daily digests only, too many emails otherwise, but start with the baby steps.

shouldbedoingthehousework and DimpledThighs. Mornin!!

dreamteamgirl · 08/01/2007 11:20

Ooops cross post Good morning taylormama also

shouldbedoingthehousework · 08/01/2007 11:45

Just dropping back in and having a nose on here while ds eats a banana - then off to see a friend who's broken her wrist (we're going to make/have lunch with her).
luda I do a similar thing to satinshoes and have all my cookery books up on top on kitch cupboards then have a box file that I can easily reach for all the recipes I use often.

Vac downstairs
Light ironing

tortoise · 08/01/2007 11:54

Ive done the cutlery draw and that was before seeing the mission!
Need to do the other cutlery draw with big spoons etc in next. Also had a clear up of floor and put WM on,TD on and DW on(just beeped so finished) Now need to empty it!

Me and DD's have dentists at 2.20 today. i hate my dentist. If he tries to force DD1's mouth/teeth open this time im going to have words! She was scared last time at wouldn't let him looked. How does he think, sticking his gloved hands in her mouth trying to force her to open her mouth,is going to help her?

Ok going to have a banana before doing a bit more.

ludaloo · 08/01/2007 12:02

Hello...you are all doing fab...
satin I agree you are very organised!

Thanks for the book ideas...
I have taken them out the bottom drawer...kept two most used ones and found a place on one of the worktops for them, the rest are going in the cupboard upstairs.
I have also found a heap of Magazines which I forgot about..in the bottom of the drawer and half falling out underneath the whole unit. I have put them to one side to cut up and file...I have also found an A4 wallet with seperate pouches, so that will be ideal!
Its an evening job though as the minute I get scissors or glue out the kids go bonkers!!!!
Thanks All

I have had the utensil draw out and washed the plastic tray...eeewww I didn't realise it was so manky!!!!! I can't stop the sticking though...I've wiped down the runners but it still sticks I might put a bit of baby oil on the runners and see if that helps!??

I've found all the kids bags and stuff...uniforms are in a pile waiting to be ironed.

Right well...back to it...I have a hot spot in the kitchen which has been neglected so far...

BFN xxx
