Ironing, how long would it take you to.............

Do the following. Just want to see am I very slow or is the householder expecting to much.

I sorted then ironed

10 men's shirts, (shirts had to be unbuttoned, then ironed, then rebuttoned and folded, not hung)
6 dresses,
9 kids trousers,
14 kids tops/jumpers,
7 Babygro's
7 adults trousers,
6 mens t-shirts,
8 blouses/tops,
3 jumpers.

Rest of laundry sorted and folded (duvets and sheets)

How long would it take you???

Hours! - reason I hardly ever iron.

Can't really answer this as I would never ever do that much ironing

It would take me fucking hrs as I never iron but mil who irons literally everything would do it in 3 I'd guess, less if she were younger (she is 82)

I was doing a 4 hour clean at this house, and was told ironing first then 13 rooms to clean. It took me 3 hours to do the ironing alone, in the one hour I got 1 bathroom and 2 bedrooms done and floors hoovered and washed. I left feeling I had failed and I don't think the owner was too impressed either as he said he would have to consult with his wife if I would be back. It was my first day at the house :(

I'd probably do that ironing in 1hour and a half but that's ironing for me not someone else!

I do my own shirts and it would probably take me an hour to do 10 I r reckon.

As for the rest, you are on your own!

I iron regularly but I am an expert. I think it would take me three hours, with the bulk of the time spent on the shirts, blouses and possibly on the dresses too. The rest would be fairly quick to do.

I think you should drop the ironing and ask them to find a separate service organisation to do it.

13 rooms to clean in 4 hours then seems a bit more manageable.

I don't know, but I know it takes me 3 mins to iron shirt, going at full pelt. Don't think I could keep up that speed for long though.
You have listed 60 items, so that's 3x 60, plus say another 2 mins for folding/buttoning per item. I calculate that to be 5 hours - with no break. Not including sorting and folding bedding.

3 hours, mainly because of the shirts, but I couldn't do it all in one go!

It takes me 7 minutes to iron and fold a shirt. And I am good at it.

About 3 hours maybe more. Are you ironing and being paid for doing it, and are they expect you to do it too quickly?

Blimey that's a lot of ironing. Would depend on whether the shirts are 100% cotton. They're a bugger to iron! They expect all that done and 13 rooms cleaned ?! They're having a laugh. I wouldn't go back personally

Everything had to be ironed except bed linen and pjs.

The shirts were the killer here, they had been washed buttoned up, so the time it took to unbutton and iron, then rebutton and fold felt like forever.

If these were my items I would not have taken so long.

I had no breaks and was going 'flat out'. When I first spoke to the owner she thought I could do the whole thing in the 4 hours. I did say to owner before I left that I felt I could do the whole house clean only 1 week then the following week ironing and a bit of cleaning. He did not seemed impressed at all.

3 hours. How on earth did they expect all of it done in 4?! As much as you may need the work you may well thank your lucky stars if you don't go back.

That's not someone you want to work for ImO. I would have expected you to have done that in one hour BUT I would have told you to run the iron over, a couple of creases fine on the kids stuff. I also would have said I expected x, y and z items cleaned. As an example, in 4 hours I expect 2 bedrooms vacuumed and washed every other week, 2 bathrooms sterilized, kitchen - oven washed, cabinet exteriors wiped, two cupboards cleaned each week on the interior, one window washed each week and all door handles bleached.

I don't want beds to be changed or ironing to be done. It's cheaper for me to have the laundry man pick it up. I'm lucky I'm in the US and pay $0.75/lb for wash and fold. It's incredible value when it comes to clothing for under 5s. When DH is away I pay about $20 a week for them to come daily to pick up/ drop off as they are one block from my house.

With 5 shirts no dresses or blouses no baby gro or the adult trousers - the rest would be my pile - close to two hours - and that's a rough iron!!!

I agree with 2.5-3hr estimate. At least.

PS. Ironing half that shit is a total waste of time.

And you may have outed yourself if the boss is on here, as that's a very specific list.
