I've just found out about this fab way of organising your life, thanks to a kind poster on the 'people who are efficient ' thread. I was wondering if any other MNers are Bullet Journalers? here is the website if anyone's interested.

It's only a couple of days since I started my journal, but I can already see that it's going to revolutionise my ability to be organised. I've tried loads of apps, lists etc in the past, but have never really hit on a system that worked for me. I have very high hopes of this one though (plus it involves pretty stationery Smile )!

Can I just ask if anyone can recommend a set of nice inky colourful pens. The ones people seem to use on the blogs and Instagram to make it look pretty. Apologies if this has already been discussed earlier.

mercifulTehlu · 12/02/2016 17:27

SoupDragon that looks beautiful! I tried to get my 10yo dd interested too. She doesn't want to do the diary/calendar aspect but she does lots of drawing and writing down ideas, lists, quotes etc so she's started a notebook for that stuff with an index.

So my LT thingy has arrived today, ordered late at night after reading a bit of this thread... Can't remotely remember what I'm supposed to do with it! If I read through this thread from the beginning will it tell me? or is there a shortcut And what should I be printing off to stick in, before I head off on holiday and am printer less?

This is one of the earlier rough drafts. I like the quirky non linear look of it. As I tend not to have much to put on a planner, it works for me. Some of the other versions like the Chronodex and Spirodex had more time slots and more white space to scribble stuff in - my book is only small though :)

It may not work in practice but it looks how I wanted it to look and I'm kind of shallow like that :o

Kewcumber It's easy to be pretty when there is no substance Wink

Kewcumber · 12/02/2016 22:32

But I'm off most of half term week with only a bit of work intruding. I'm on a mission to make it pretty.

Some of the pages - I have 4 dedicated to our upcoming Kazakh trip - will be a work of many months so being easy on the eye would be nice! I'm not very artistic though. That will be my challenge!

Kewcumber · 12/02/2016 22:33

Iggi I think this thread will help - it also has links to some good timewasting informative sites

Kewcumber · 12/02/2016 22:34

I need coloured pencils, don't I.

AtiaoftheJulii · 12/02/2016 22:39

Those pens look good Doreen. My youngest dd has a collection of Pilot V Sign pens, but I should encourage her to try the Stabilo ones, they're cheaper!

I've been yearning for a Coleto (or 2 or 3) since they were mentioned earlier - don't they look fab! I found so many amazing ones on Etsy as well Grin

I mostly use a black fountain pen. Fine nib. I have a Parker Sonnet - my dad got me one for Christmas a few years ago and after hunting for it for ages I conceded a couple of weeks ago that I'd lost it, and bought myself a new one, which is lovely. Always have a soft spot for Muji gel pens. And I like Bic Cristal 'fun' biros, which are 1.6mm, and are almost squidgy to write with - just bought myself a box of 20 purple and a box of 20 pink! For work I use Uniball Jetstream which are nice and black, fast-drying, and refillable. And these are my favourite pencils.

My name's Atia and I'm an addict ...

SoupDragon · 12/02/2016 22:54

You absolutely need coloured pencils, Kew.

It's amazing what a difference is made by just doing a header in outline letters and colouring them.

Devora · 12/02/2016 23:01

Mine isn't pretty, but it IS getting used.

Kewcumber · 12/02/2016 23:11

Oh no Devora don;t tell me you have succumbed too Shock

Kewcumber · 12/02/2016 23:14

It's amazing what a difference is made by just doing a header in outline letters and colouring them.

If I was sure what you meant then I'd probably agree...

Are outline letters just like bubble writing? I don't think I'm very goof at that kind of stuff - it always looks like a 7 year old has done it.

SoupDragon · 13/02/2016 07:30

Not quite bubble writing but the principle is the same. Trace a printed font if you can't draw it - I did spend 7 years at calligraphy evening classes so I probably have an advantage!

mercifulTehlu · 13/02/2016 08:02

Totally agree about headings, SoupDragon. I am not at all arty and have boring (if reasonably tidy) handwriting. I am doing my headings with just the first letter of each word slightly fancy. Sometimes I have added a little icon type picture too. I'll post a picture in a minute - not that it's v impressive or anything, just to show you what I mean!

Lidl had some pretty decorative tape, if you're after some.
I have added a page with financial goals, 1,3 and 5 years. I have pencilled in (planned) how I am going to achieve this.

mercifulTehlu · 13/02/2016 08:09

There you go.

i suffer from depression and have found I feel a bit better when I am on a calorie counting diet - the reaching of the goal and control give me a lift

So I've incorporated that into my habit tracker to try and encourage me to do some basic things I've let slide. I feel more incentivised to do things if I know I will be able to tick it off a list! Hopefully that won't dissipate!

Peeps - I was in WH Smith yesterday buying up stickers and post-it notes Grin when I saw that they had a special offer pack on Uni-ball pens. A 10-pen pack for £7.99. 6 of the pens are red, black blue, turquoise and pink and are erasable (Uni-ball Signo), but they write too faint for me (except for the pink which is lovely), but the other four were fabulous Uni-ball EYE fine pens (2 x black and 2 x blue). So I only bought it for those five pens (inc the pink erasable), so that works out at £1.60 each. On their own they cost approx £3.50 so I felt that was a good deal. And I'm using the other erasable pens just as 'pens in the pot' in the kitchen for everyone else to borrow, so they aren't a complete waste. Might not be in all WH Smiths, but if you are out and about this next week do pop into your local one.
