See you later, by which time my house will be sparkling and clean

IvorthePolarExpress · 21/12/2006 10:44

shouldbe It sounds like you're making a good start. This is my revised list.

To do:-

  • spend at least 4 hours ironing to try to get the pile down from hip height
  • walk the dog once the delivery person has been
  • ring a friend (not luda, another one, who has been without a car for a week or so) to see if she needs a lift somewhere
  • finish tumble drying
  • do the washing up

Done:-

  • write a couple of e-mails
  • do a load of washing
  • load the dishwasher
EllieHsMum · 21/12/2006 10:56

Shouldbe go for it!
Tort have a nice day, stay warm.Sorry to hear about the wet bed.

Still to do:

I'm going to do a list.

Wash up
Shine sink
Prepare tonights tea
Hoover downstairs
Tidy dds room
Clean dds floor
Write shopping list
Washing (2-3 loads)

shouldbe - After Christmas your name should be "shouldbecleaningtheutilityroom"

IvorthePolarExpress · 21/12/2006 11:49

Thanks CranberryJelley for mentioning tea. I've had a rootle in the freezer and have taken out some steak and two lone sausages. I did do a week planner the other week and it really worked. I'm going to try to do that every week in future. I've thought of having a housework calendar on the PC so that I can put things in on a recurring occurrence so that I do things when they are due and not early or late. For example, if I wash the curtains then I can put it so the reminder comes up a year later. I am addicted to the snooze button, though!

Please someone shout at me to get on with the ironing instead of doing lots of little tasks!

asleep · 21/12/2006 12:39

just got back from town. bought DD two pairs of trousers! i love h&m for her clothes, they always fit well and last for over a year with her.

now must clean up!

ISawTortoiseKissingSantaClaus · 21/12/2006 12:44

Back from town.
Train trip to bigger town cancelled.
By the time i had put £15 each on gas and electric I only had £20 left to get the basics and cards for the DC from me!

I'm not sure where i'm going to get the money from to give my nephew. He's coming over with my Sister on Saturday.

IvorthePolarExpress · 21/12/2006 12:53

I love finding clothes that can be guaranteed to fit too asleep.

Sorry to hear that you couldn't go to the town you wanted tort. If you're stuck for money to give to your nephew, can you give him a homemade voucher for something instead? For example in the past I've given dd vouchers which said "This is a voucher for a new duvet and curtains set of your choice" or "This is a voucher for a watch of your choice" and we've gone to choose it together when the sales are on after Christmas. I use the paint thing on the PC to put a picture on (which is laughingly bad I have to say as I can't draw a straight line with a ruler!) For you, this would be a way of giving him something but deferring the cost of it until you have money available. What do you think?

shouldbedeckingthehalls · 21/12/2006 12:58

Poor you tort. I think Ivor's idea is a good one though - would it work for you?

ISawTortoiseKissingSantaClaus · 21/12/2006 12:59

Its a lovely idea but i feel it wouldn't work for him.I haven't seen him for a year even though my sister only lives about 8 miles away and can drive!
I can almost garentee she will give my 4 crappy presents but when i text and asked her what he wanted she eventually asked for Over the hedge DVD!!! I told her under £10 as i had no money! Now i haven't been able to buy a present and probably won't have the money to give him.

shouldbedeckingthehalls · 21/12/2006 13:01

Ivor get on with the ironing!

I must get on too - way too much deferring jobs going on here!

jelley I like that name...may use it after Christmas silly thing is that the utility room wouldn't take long if I'd just get on with it!

shouldbedeckingthehalls · 21/12/2006 13:01

Tort, how old is he?

shouldbedeckingthehalls · 21/12/2006 13:03

sorry ds is going to scream and scream if I don't let him on computer so I have to go....hope to be back later x x

ISawTortoiseKissingSantaClaus · 21/12/2006 13:05

He is 10.
I will get on with some tidying after lunch.
Have SW coming tomorrow. She is supervising contact between DD's and xp2 tomorrow!

IvorthePolarExpress · 21/12/2006 13:12

I will crack on with the ironing after lunch, honest!

tort Oh dear. You don't have much choice though, do you? If you don't have hard cash or a credit card with which to buy a present, but need to give something then ... ... ... I can't think of another option, to be honest. Oh, except for borrowing from someone if you can.

CranberryJelley · 21/12/2006 13:14

Can you try telling her you ordered it from Amazon(or similar) and it hasn't been delivered, then get it delivered to him after Christmas when you have the money?????

ISawTortoiseKissingSantaClaus · 21/12/2006 13:21

Oooooh jelley i like that idea!

ludaloo · 21/12/2006 13:50

Morning all....

I have just come back from our Ti a Fi (nursery) christmas trip...to see Sali Mali!
Very good.....we saw sali Mali, Um....can't remember his name but he's a pilot (IVOR.....ANY IDEAS?????)

Upstairs all tidy...just got to tackle the kitchen.
Dh made breakfast!!!!!! (say no more!!! every pot and utensil has been used!)
