Hello all. Please can someone order me to get showered and dressed and write my Christmas cards before it is too sodding late!

OP posts:
IvorthePolarExpress · 16/12/2006 11:14

I have so far today:-
*emptied and refilled dw
*put washing on line
*put washing in machine
*had brekkie
*played some guessing game with dd who declared "Mum, you are so gullible!" It turns out that she adopts a shifty face just to put me off the scent! She wants to be in the police. I suppose you need to outwit the other person so as to have the upper hand.

IVOR Go and write your cards!!!

Morning all. Not too bad a night 8 hours sleep with only 2 interruptions of 1-2 hours. We all got a lie in until 8.00

Today we are having a quiet day as we've caught up with lots of jobs in the week. The luxury of having DH at home

Have a good day all.

IvorthePolarExpress · 16/12/2006 11:38

Hi satin. I've been sitting here, making those fire lighter things out of old newspaper and reading MN. Now that you've given me a prompt, I'll go and shower, dress and write those cards! I'll come back and let you know if I've really done it or if the urge to procrastinate is too strong.
How are your two little ones?

shouldbedeckingthehalls · 16/12/2006 12:26

Hello.
Ivor go and write your cards!

satinshoes - good to hear from you. Hope your lo's are doing OK.

I too need to go and write my cards. I'm hoping to get started this afternoon while PIL are here and (I hope) will take the dc out for a long walk which will leave them exhausted and ready for an early night (the dc's and the pil!)

Also need to;
load wm
clear junk from kitchen table
send dh into attic to find Christmas decs
tidy upstairs
change bedding

Dh and I had our first evening out in over 10 weeks last night which was lovely. We don't spend nearly enough time together these days. Must make time in the new year.

satinshoes · 16/12/2006 13:58

Hi Guys, Am i shaming you into doing stuff?

My DDs are fine. DD2 has been great this week. The odd tizz but very grown up really.

DH and I have hoovered everywhere downstairs today. I am on top of the washing.

have you done your xmas cards yet?

IvorthePolarExpress · 16/12/2006 14:07

Do you know, I think I've gone right off you, satin. You too, shouldbe.

I am having a quick look on MN (going now, honest) then I'm writing my cards. Ds, dd, dh and the dog have gone out for a couple of hours, so I'll have peace. If there is snooker on the tv then so much the better.

Oh, the postie has just come and brought my Boden order! Hmmm.

Boden/cards ... ... ....
Boden/cards ... ... ....
Boden/cards ... ... ...

Boden!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

OP posts:
IvorthePolarExpress · 16/12/2006 14:12

Oh, I wish I hadn't looked at the post. There's a cheque there from the solicitor re: my late father's estate. In tears now. I hate it arriving. I don't need a reminder that I've lost him. I know I have. I especially don't need a cheque just before Christmas every sodding year. I don't want it, it just rubs salt in the wound. I think I should ask them to hold mine back until Jan or something in future.

OP posts:
shouldbedeckingthehalls · 16/12/2006 16:03

Poor you Ivor I'd try to get your solicitor to move posting you the cheque till the New Year in future, it's hard enough over Christmas when you're missing family without that as an extra reminder.
What did you get from Boden? Something nice for you I hope

I still haven't started my cards either! PIL took kids for a walk but dh and I went out for a little festive look round the shops in a nearby village so I've done nothing from my list this afternoon. I did manage to find a couple of v nice shaker style Christams decorations which I've bought for the friend I've mentioned before who's moving to the States this week. They're v nice and she can get them out every Christmas and remember us. Hope she likes them....

Off to make tea for in-laws, will probably have to leave cards till this evening now...

Hello Satinshoes glad things are going well with your little ones.
Ivor So sorry to hear your upsetting news. I agree with shouldbe ask your solicitor to delay sending. Its very upsetting anytime of year never mind at Christmas. Maybe they could send to your DH instead, would that help?
shouldbe Hope having your pil isn't too stressful. Glad you had nice time with DH on night out. It got me thinking me & dh haven't had a night out(went out for meal with sister& her partner when on holiday in devon) since sept. Our parents baby sat both babies.
sorry have to dash madame has woken from nap screaming her head off!

ISawTortoiseKissingSantaClaus · 16/12/2006 18:14

Hi all.
Hope everyone is off having good day. My day has been ok. Bit of a lazy one! Watched a few films with DC and tidied DS's room a little bit!
Tired and have a headache so thats my excuse for being extra lazy!
WM now on and DW emptied and re-loaded will switch it on later.
Hope to wrap a few more presents tonight.

satin you are putting me to shame!!

ivor Have you written your cards yet??

ruby I hope you feel better soon.

HazelnutsRoastingOnAnOpenFire · 16/12/2006 20:52

Evening all.

satinshoes Its great to see that you are having a good time with DD2, sounds like she has settled in really well.

Ivor Its hard when things happen at Christmas time that reminds us of lost love ones. My is seeing Christmas trees with the coloured light bulbs on. (normal big lights bulbs) It reminds me of my granddads death as he died at Christmas time and all I remember is seeing Christmas trees with those light on them. I was five at the time

shouldbe did DH get your decs out of the loft?

EHM I hope madame has settled after you went. Ds2 never liked waking up, and he would always be crying every time he woke up. Thankfully he does not do that anymore.

tortoise I`m glad to see you have had a good day. I hope your headache is much better soon.

Now my Day. It started very early as DS1 was awake at 5am!!!! Why does he always wake so early at weekends. Week days I sometimes have to wake him up.
I did a few odd jobs that I wanted to get done before Christmas week. Making lists of bits needed and things to get done. Cleaned/sorted out the freezer. Cleaned the fridge. and hoovered the upstairs.

DS1 has been moody on and off today. One minute he is ok, then the next he was having a strop. Most of them over nothing at all. Others were b/c he could not get his own way. So I took them to the park this afternoon to have a good run about, but that did not work for his moods. It gave me a thumping headache too.

They have all had a bath after dinner and now are in bed a sleep. I hope DS1 stays asleep longer in the morning and is in a better mood tomorrow.

Hope everyone else have had a good day today

ISawTortoiseKissingSantaClaus · 16/12/2006 21:09

Hi HN.
Sounds like you had an ok day apart from DS's moods!
My head still hurts but nevermind! Have wrapped a ew bits.Need to get in the loft for some more bits. Will get some in a minute!! I only have 3 rolls of paper and i'm bored with the same designs on each roll! LOL!

HazelnutsRoastingOnAnOpenFire · 16/12/2006 21:48

Yes it was an ok day, apart from DS1 and now my headache, its better than it was. I`m getting fed up with these bad heads

I have ran out of wrapping paper I need to get some more on Monday. Rolls of paper are not the best of things to carry home on a bus though Least they are wrapped so I just tape them all together at each end and then try and make a handle using a carrier bag. I would get some from Christmas cats/hampers books but rolls of paper and cards from them cost a lot of money and its so much cheaper from Tesco, etc. The paper I have been using cost a £1 for 2 rolls (3m per roll)and its good paper too. DS1 liked some paper and said that he hopped Santa would wrap his pressies in it. Only problem was, it had "Happy Birthday" all over it. lol It was silly of the shop though to have Christmas and Birthday wrapping paper together.

ISawTortoiseKissingSantaClaus · 16/12/2006 21:52

LOL@ birthday paper! I don't know where to buy mine from.Castle Cary is a bit crap for rolls of paper!! Lol. Its either expensive 1m rolls or really cheapy easy to tear stuff!
I will have to have a good look monday or just hope the rolls i have last and hope the DC don't mind the same paper on everything! I'm sure they will be too busy ripping it ff to orry about whats on it. Oh I do need to buy some to wrap the stocking presents from FC!

HazelnutsRoastingOnAnOpenFire · 16/12/2006 22:06

That cheap nasty, easy to tear stuff is so dam hard to put on pressies without tearing it as you put it on. Its great for the really littuns (my DD) to take off though. Can you get some from Tesco`s online shopping? I was going to do an online shop from them but there was not delivery slots left

ISawTortoiseKissingSantaClaus · 16/12/2006 22:08

I didn't think of that! LOL
I booked a slot a few weeks ago!! 19th mine is. Won't have a lot to spend though.

shouldbedeckingthehalls · 16/12/2006 22:19

Evening all,

I'm pleased to say that most of my Christmas cards are written and ready to go in the post/be delivered on Monday morning- what a relief to get them over and done with!

Have only just put the wm on,
I did clear junk from kitchen table but just moved it somewhere else!
Never did send dh into attic to find Christmas decs- we get our tree tomorrow so can't put if off much longer!
I did tidy upstairs and I did change the bedding.

We have the nativity play in church tomorrow (have to be there at 9am!!!!)- dd is an angel, she looks so sweet, if only she'd behave like an angel too! She's been hyper today but that's probably just excitement cos of end-of-term and cos PIL are here. Ds is a wise man which is cute but I'm not sure he'll take part cos he's not really interested - they may have to make do with 2 wise men!

Well, I'm off to bed soon. I'm really tired and need to get away from the in-laws who are still up....

ISawTortoiseKissingSantaClaus · 16/12/2006 22:53

Well done shouldbe!
I hope ds and dd enjpoy the nativity.

Ive got a few more presents wrapped.Need to stick them back in the loft now!

CranberryJelley · 17/12/2006 07:52

Morning all,

Ivor - did you get those cards done??
I think asking the solicitor to delay your cheque til the new year is a good idea, too.

Satin - am amazed you are around so much (and at the sleeping)Are you sure you had a baby last week?

Ruby - hope you are better soon. No idea about dress. I can't remember thelast time I had to be that smart (probably never)Have you looked on the style threads?

tortoise - tell us when you are going in the loft, and report back that you are down safley please. I worry
Glad you are getting those presents done.

Hazel, shouldbe, everyone else,- hope you are having a good weekend...

I changed beds and made sme progress on the dds room yesterday. Moreof that to do later.
I took them all to soft play yesterday, but was very tired and in danger of falling asleep inthe car, so dp went shopping for me.
I made mince pies last night. i made 3 doz a forthnight ago, but they are all gone!
Today i willl be

  • finish tidying kids room (with their help) *make nut loaf for christms dinner hoover2 loads wasking
  • hand deliver christmas cards
  • make chocolate brownies for dds to give to their teachers tomorrow
ISawTortoiseKissingSantaClaus · 17/12/2006 09:22

Morning all.
My head really hurts. Have taken tablets and hope they kick in soon!
Jelley i worry too! Especially after reading the news last year of a single mum dying from falling out the loft getting presents out and her DC sat watching tv alone..
I will try and post a before and after loft message.

Today i would like to
*tidy front room
*hoover front room
*Dry washing
*WM on
*tidy DD's room
*Empty DW

ISawTortoiseKissingSantaClaus · 17/12/2006 10:06

All i have done so far is empty DW!
Tablets not working.

ludaloo · 17/12/2006 10:10

Hello ladies,

IVOR...sorry to hear your sad news...its just typical for a solicitor to actually have no thought what so ever, maybe let them know for the future.

TORT...Hope your head is better!

I have had a very poorly dd2!! She has had a very high temp, and has been ultra clingy. Last night and the night before I had to lie in bed with her..her breathing was very short and shallow, she puked twice the night before, once yesterday..no puking last night or this am.
Dh has been away at his mothers with the other two kids, so I have been completely stuck in the house (no car!) I began to panick on sat as her temp just wouldn't come down!
Dh has arrived back this morning with the other two and dd2 has perked up no end. They have come home with an absolute mountain of christmas pressies!!! We really needn't of got them anything!!
dh has 4 sisters...one of which insisted they open her pressies while they were there. She bought them a V-SMILE computer (which dh is setting up at the mo ) She bought dd2 a sit on car thing.
Nanny has sent them home with sack fulls...ds has a present which is actually bigger than him!!!!!!!! Dh says its a complete Thomas The Tank train and track set (cost MIL £159) FGS!!!!!!!!!!!!!! dd2 has a Princess Kitchen and dd1 has a Bratz doll thing

Don't get me wrong...I'm chuffed to bits for the kids but it is all completely OTT! I have a feeling our pressies will now go down like a lead balloon!!!!!!! Plus they have opened half of them!!!!!
Thats what happens when you leave dh in charge!!!!!!!!

House is a state...haven't been able to move very far as dd2 cries! dh is now off to work!!!!!!
AAAAAAARRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHH

ISawTortoiseKissingSantaClaus · 17/12/2006 10:14

Wow luda I hope you have the space for all that stuff! LOL! Your mil sounds very ott.
Glad your DD has perked up now.

ludaloo · 17/12/2006 10:24

Hi Tort..sorry your head is not better..are you able to go lie down?? that always helps me.

God knows where we are gonna put it all! Kids have come home completely obnoxious! Spoilt rotten at MIL's!!!! They ate a whole selection box between them on the way home in the car...dh said it was keeping them quiet!
SIL's have spoilt them rotton too...dd1 has come back with a new Disney Princess purse, some Bunny ears?? and a new Drinks Cup.
Ds has a new Jacket!

I'm just going quietly mad from being stuck in the middle of no where with a poorly little pee and no car!!!!

Although I am also quite glad I escaped the In- Laws!!!!!
