and I was pleasantly surprised...
I was expecting all sorts of hideousness but actually it was not too bad.

Now tell me, what should I get next time?

why what did you buy this time?

all the stuff that the Germans like is a safe bet!

WhyDooLittleStarsShine · 04/12/2006 21:09

Christmas gingerbread biscuits with icing on them.
Salami sausage
Onken type coffee dessert , only alot cheaper

can't remember the rest. We only spent £10 but we filled a bag

Have a look at this article it gives you a good idea of what to get!

Parmesan is good, as is olive oil, cold meats, cheeeses, part baked ciabatta.

I find that you can get things like tinned tomatoes from Lidl for the same price as Tesco Valur ones but the quality is much better in Lidl.

WhyDooLittleStarsShine · 04/12/2006 21:19

Thanks for that Lucycat. That's brilliant!!

No problem always glad to convert someone else to the joys of Lidl!!

I buy theri kitchen roll too, £1.29 for 4 rolls and it's fine for mopping up stuff.

oh and I like their red box of tea bags 29p for 80 - I like my tea strong!!

kiskidee · 04/12/2006 21:31

their cleaning stuff are a bargain. laundry detergents, washing up liquid and mopping stuff.

tiramisu ice cream

weiss beer (trust me, before I was a sahm I worked in the brewing industry)

generally very good for the basics but watch for gelatine in the toothpaste if you're a vegetarian

kiskidee · 04/12/2006 21:54

their emmenthal, edam and gouda cheeses.
also their cold cuts

StKnickerless · 04/12/2006 22:13

we always do our weekly shop in LIDL,the peanut butter is delicious

TwoIfBySea · 04/12/2006 22:16

ALDI is quite good too. I buy everything that isn't a brand name from either ALDI or LIDL.

Skribble · 04/12/2006 22:18
