Well after several months shirking anything more than general tidying (due to having a baby) I'm going to revive this method. Hopefully it will keep me motivated. But I'm adapting it to suit my needs.

I have MS and post baby had a relapse which I'm still recovering from. But I'm pigging fed up feeling sorry for myself, looking at the mess.

So each day:
Kitchen surfaces cleaned
Living room decluttered before bed (move all baby stuff into one area once she in bed)
Pick one room/chore a day to unfuck. Starting with one 10min session and building on this as health improves.

So far today I've organised and put on wash. One in tumble drier and another one just in.

Bleach flung round toilet rim. Just need to go back and clean sink/toilet.

Anyone care to join me?

I'm trying to get some done but every time I try to sneak away from the sleeping toddler she starts crying. The house is ok. Not awful but not great either. I think I'm going to tackle the kitchen next. Start with the worst room. Apart from the junk room. I need to set a timer and do 30 minutes a day in there.

Good luck this week everyone!!

Ps that's really annoying about the eBay parcel. I really hope you can get the insurance money on.

I have read the riot act to DS and he's done a reasonable job of tidying his mess up. The dishwasher and washing machine are going and I am trying to talk myself out of throwing the suitcase DH left in the middle of the kitchen floor at him when he comes home. (It's a tiny galley kitchen, he can't do that!!)

hebihebi · 14/10/2015 10:56

I had an idea to collect things like empty boxes and toilet roll tubes. The DC really love crafting and I thought they could make stuff. I realised all this stuff is just cluttering up the kitchen and I'll never get around to doing anything with it so I took it to DD's pre-school today and asked if they wanted it. They were actually very pleased as they keep a box of this sort of stuff for the children to make things and they were running low. I can now give the kitchen window sill a good clean. It's so much better without it.

DH is away for a few weeks so I feel like I have some breathing space to get stuff done. Work is busy this month but less so next month. I have a lot to prepare for tomorrow for work, DSs go back to school tomorrow after a short break, DD has a trip with pre-school. A lot to think about and organise tonight before bed.

LetThereBeCupcakes · 19/10/2015 07:52

hebi I do that - inevitably as soon as I ditch it all DS wants it! My solution has been to get a storage box with a lid and use that for it. Once it's full, that's it. No more goes in until something's been used up.

Pretty awful weekend for us - our beloved DDog has been diagnosed with cancer and will only be with us for a few weeks. Utterly heartbroken. He's only 6.

I shall be keeping the house ticking over for the next few weeks but that will be it - bare minimum only. There are more important things to be doing.

comeagainforbigfudge · 19/10/2015 12:47

Aw cupcakes how awful Flowers poor wee soul Sad absolutely, bare minimum only.

I've been just treading water as in keeping the general stuff tidy.

But I'm reattempting to sort the cupboard of hell. Two boxes and a bag of clothes sorted through. Not much thrown away but I might go over it again and be super ruthless! The bag of clothes were my uniforms so sadly i can't throw them away Grin

very late to the table but can I join please? this looks good to me, already making sense re marathons and 20/10.

Cupcakes I am very sorry to hear your news x

RaspberryBlonde · 31/10/2015 08:11

Oh cupcakes, what sad news. I hope that you're able to have some happy times with him in the time you have.

Great ideas on craft stuff, think I will start doing this when we move in the new year - just need to find my creativity!

Am hoping to get out and do a tidy up in the garden this weekend if it stays dry, may not happen though as DH isn't well and DD has to be watched like a hawk in the garden to stop her eating things she shouldn't which makes it hard to do anything....Rest of the house is not too bad at least.

Welcome Paula! I'm a bit sporadic on here these days but the more the merrier!

comeagainforbigfudge · 05/11/2015 10:20

I REALLY need to get my act together. It's November and that cupboard is still no emptier. I'm going to need to get in for the Xmas decorations soon GrinGrin[santa]

Think this weekend will be spent moving furniture in dds room in preparation for moving her into own room Shock

On the plus side the kitchen is clean and that dining table remains almost clutter free

Well, there was me thinking I really should check in with you guys and I see you’re barely posting! What’s going on? I hope you’re all doing lots of unfucking and just not posting.

I’ve just nipped onto the UFYH website to remind myself what I’m doing. I need a kick up the bottom sometimes.

DDog is still with us. He needs to go to the toilet every 2(ish)hours so I’m up 3-4 times a night with him. Bloody exhausted! But there you go, needs must.

House it actually in a reasonable state, all things considered. We’ve just had our washing machine fixed after three weeks of doing without so I’ve been ploughing through the backlog of washing. My Dad and Step-mum have been very kind and kept on top of the essentials for us, but it’s stuff like bedding, dog towels etc that really do need doing.
Sorted the top of the wardrobe, binned loads of rubbish and Christmas presents can now – finally – be stashed.

What I REALLY need to do is start some of the bigger “maintenance” jobs, but I don’t really know where to start with those. There are some holes in the wall where we took some hooks down. I need to fill them. What do I dooooo? DH is a tradesman and keeps saying he’ll do it, but I just want to get on with it now.

comeagainforbigfudge · 16/11/2015 12:24

Nope. I've got no further than the last time I posted.

And now I've started weaning my DD it's going to get very much messier! Grin

Okay. New plan - one 20min session per day (tackle a room a day) plus one cupboard/shelf/pile of cap sorted per day.

Starting today with sorting the freezer after I've drank my cup of tea that is

I was going to start a Christmas UFYH thread but I thought I'd better check there wasn't one running already - this looks like the nearest thing and I should probably bump it!

House is a complete disaster, fortunately I have low expectations (aka no guests) for Christmas but I really do want to put a dent in things in the two weeks of 'holiday' (still have some work to do, plus house fully occupied, plus Star Wars takes priority).

comeagainforbigfudge · 21/02/2016 16:11

The cupboard of hell is finally done!! apart from the towels but thats okay

Made me think of this thread, so hunted it out.

Think i might have to start employing the principles of UFYH again Grin
