The Hoarders Anonymous Thread Part Two...Still Sorting It Out ~ Together!

Sorting out the home when you're a hoarder (big or small) is never going to be easy and we should know! but having someone else to support you, talk about it with you and make you feel much less of a freak of mother nature makes a huge difference!

If you are any of the following:
A hoarder. In a mess. Untidy. Disorganised. Lazy with housework that has lead to something that you now feel unable to deal with. If you are ill and not coping with the housework. If you are emotionally attached to items for whatever reason. If you have a combination of any or all of these things or something completely different, please join us. No one here will judge you. We have something in common and we have a common goal. We share our ideas and we share our disappointments no matter how big and our celebrations no matter how small.

Welcome to thread number 2! :)

Yup :(

fuzzpig · 25/01/2016 20:31

We attacked the kitchen today. Our new oven arrived. It's a tabletop 'mini' (though has a big capacity) one... guess why?

Yep, because we can't face getting the landlords here to fix the actual oven :(

Anyway. We now have an oven so that's awesome, and we sorted a lot of stuff in the kitchen. Fair bit left to do, but should be reasonably simple to do before we christen the oven on Thursday with an inaugural roast chicken dinner.

I am finding it very hard to focus. So much stuff I should be doing now but we just found out today that DH's job is at risk, so my concentration is zero.

Solo · 25/01/2016 23:14

Sympathies Fuzz :(

I hope your Dh's job turns out to be safe Thanks

I've been ill for most of January, mostly mentally wig a few colds thrown in for good measure. It's really stopped me in my tracks. I made some headway today though. I've been in the kitchen chugging away. Not perfect, but better.

Hellishly busy week though, so much to do and no time to rest or get on again until next Monday.

Hope everyone else is in a better place.

BeyondBootcampsAgain · 02/02/2016 05:35

My health has been shit too, and this disappeared off my tio. I only remembered now as its the middle of the night (okay, maybe not now, been awake since 2 though) and showing on active! (Over this time my aspergers has been confirmed too)

My living room has stayed bearable. Kitchen isnt great, its dhs room and though he pretty much keeps it clean, hes about as good a natural tidyer as i am Grin
Otoh, my bedroom finally looks like a grown ups room for the first time in 10 years. Actually, its my first proper grown up room - since i moved out of my parents' at 19, my room has been the room for hiding stuff in! Box bed is full again, with all the toys that are going 'to makr room for xmas' Blush friends coming on the weekend again, so have to do something about that this week

BeyondBootcampsAgain · 02/02/2016 05:45

And now i've typed all that i can catch up Grin

Fuzz, i hope your dhs job is safe. But if not, i want you to know that my dhs redundancy was the best thing that happened to us. I had been making myself worse being full time sahm when i was ill, and struggling so much to get anything done. Including showering around dhs shifts because even on the days that i dont need help, i need supervision, and dh was having to get all of my care needs done between working, and running himself into the ground. Now im on esa and he is here for me full time (good, as my health is only going downwards), and the drop in 'income' it utterly worth it for how much our lives (all of our lives - the kids are better not having to be responsible for me too) are now. :)

Babies, that is an impressive list!!

Hope you are feeling better pro Flowers

And how are you doing solo?

Solo · 08/02/2016 11:44

How are you all doing? Any progress? Not me!! Blush

BeyondBootcampsAgain · 09/02/2016 19:43

Quite well actually :) apart from dhs pile of clothes, i have a grown ups bedroom, my bathroom is clear, the boys' room needs a toy cull but is clear and tidy, box room is relatively tidy as had friends to stay last weekend. Living room is brilliant. The only room that needs serious work atm is the kitchen, and that is all hidden in cupboards Grin

Solo · 10/02/2016 00:22

Well done Beyond Thanks :)

The neato could actually get IN the box room to hoover it today! :)

Unfortunately, all of this fabulous cleaning and organising is really just me procrastinating from my uni work (on which i am behind schedule). Meh. Maybe i'll get some done now i have in theory nothing to distract me!

Solo · 14/02/2016 02:19

I have spent many of Saturdays hours in the bathroom. I tidied and cleaned. I haven't finished yet. It's a small bathroom. Blush
Two wash loads done and hung up to dry.

I am getting buried during half term but getting better with paperwork and general things to do with my Bullet Journal !

I aim to stay afloat until Monday when kids go back to school, up to then we are going to do swimming, cooking, softplay and park. As life is too short to do housework every day in the holidays :)

Then I am going to have another go at decluttering the house. It gets better each push, just got to be 100% brutal and chuck more this time and bring in nothing new !

Wish me luck.

Solo · 17/02/2016 00:50

Good luck! Thanks

I've sorted a very small amount of rubbish paperwork today, 2 wash loads and changed my bed linen today.

Babies, i'm using a bujo as well, and going with a bastardised version of marie kondo too (not doing her book properly but basically when i sort stuff i am getting rid of anything that doesnt "spark joy")

Babieseverywhere · 18/02/2016 00:19

Yeah Beyond These BuJo's are ace aren't they :)

ProcrastinatorGeneral · 18/02/2016 13:20

Fifteen black sacks of rubbish this week, three boxes of recycling too.

I need chocolate!

Babieseverywhere · 19/02/2016 00:35

I completely cleared downstairs halls and cupboards. Starting upstairs hall tomorrow :)

BeyondBootcampsAgain · 19/02/2016 12:01

Wow pro, that is impressive!!

Best thing so far about my bujo babies, is that every time i had something to do, i'd write a list. Now the lists are already done and all together, so i have to JFDI Grin

ProcrastinatorGeneral · 19/02/2016 18:37

Nice one Babies!

You can up my total to abut twenty sacks now. My mood is dropping big time though, so it may be it for a while. I hate being in thrall to these hideous moods. I really ought to go back to the GP.

BeyondBootcampsAgain · 19/02/2016 18:48

Six bags of clothes and shoes, pile of toys and a bag of books for charity, and a load of rubbish to go to the tip. Busy day and now i am seriously flagging :(

BeyondBootcampsAgain · 19/02/2016 18:51

I seem to have a load of storage space now that is half empty. I can see how i ended up with so much stuff...

Babieseverywhere · 19/02/2016 19:10

I didn't do the upstairs hall but I did deep clean and bleach the bathroom instead :)

ProcrastinatorGeneral · 19/02/2016 19:32

Beyond that's a good effort. My problem is that we have no storage at all. Everything just gets dumped :/

Solo · 20/02/2016 02:35

Me too General it's a nightmare!
