August Birthdays and the Fledglings are a nattering

Ok so here is the August thread.

Another chat thread.

Going to be completely half arsed with this.

launch pad from here is all the linky poos which few of us look at anyway
But we are following Fly lady principles. sort of 15 mins decluttering, babysteps and all that.

Oh we are a long running thread, we may seem clicky but we have been around the wrong side of half a decade. We do welcome newbies, and some of the flock joined us only recently.

If you have any questions on the fly lady system do ask and we will try to answer them. Hopefully back to normal service and regular linkies in September after the hols.

So nerh...

Stage 1 (the hardest but shortest task) of the spring cleaning has been done. I am totally and utterly steaming mad with ds. Found several platefuls of mouldy food in his room where he has not eaten his tea, combined with food refusing again. Angry

CantSee4Looking · 24/08/2015 07:33

Good morning. Coffee and a fry up anyone?

Bloody insomnia has had me being productive.

ta da
ironing
folding
2 loads of washing
strip my bed
move bed to get tv remote Hmm
make pancakes for breakfast Grin

Not sure what to do whilst I wait for the washer and dryer so I have work clothes though Confused bit of a flying fail was had.

CarpeJugulum · 24/08/2015 07:37

Appointment today. No flying. Sorry for being a downer but...

DS plonked on couch with DBIL. I'm shaking, blinking back the tears which are gathering and trying not to show it.

DH buggered off to work with a cheery "let me know how it goes". When this is over, we will be having words, but I just can't spare the energy to get angry at the cavalier attitude. I know it's how he copes, but a hug this morning would have been nice. Sad

CantSee4Looking · 24/08/2015 07:46

Here Carpe

I hope today is better than you fear.

AsTimeGoesBy · 24/08/2015 07:53

Hope it goes well Carpe. It is probably just his way of coping but he should be putting you first. My DH is not much better, I went through 18 months of sheer slog recently with DS and his statement and on the day it all finally got sorted I got "that's good then" and back to his laptop.

knittingwithnettles · 24/08/2015 09:47

a rather dismal morning...

two things I thought were happening (both activities appointments) I have managed to get the wrong date for ...so now we are all tense and waiting and have got up far too early...when in fact it is another day of lounging..

I should be turning this to its advantage but cannot seem to shake buzzy high stakes feeling...still not got rid of virus either...but hope that will reduce my food intake as I am feeling slightly sick still (that car sick feeling that viruses can give you)

Good luck Carpe - I honestly think I will never set foot in a hospital again for tests since the last one where I was all clear but ended up having so many invasive tests I felt ill for about three weeks. I know I shouldn't say that, it is obviously good that there was nothing wrong with me but the very word "tests" now sets me off in a cold sweat.

And I thought the cleaning lady was coming but obviously not..another big FAIL in my diary assumptions. it might help if I wrote things IN my diary

So here we are in London with world at our fingertips and for some mad reason none of us can possibly think what it is we want to do. Strawberry Hill was mooted but that is unaccountably closed on Mondays, Tuesdays Wednesdays and Thursdays (Wtf?) - there is Hampton Court but Dh has gone into a hissy fit about the rain. Ditto any sort of museum.

Yesterday he played Monopoly with the children all afternoon, and I took the twins swimming on Sat..it is beginning to remind me of family holidays of my youth.

CarpeJugulum · 24/08/2015 12:36

Thank you for all the good thoughts Flowers

They've worked and it's all fine (sort of!). I've damaged the soft tissue - probably when moving boxes in the move south and they believe it'll take up to 6 months to heal. Something they never tell you at school in the development/sex talks! Apparently boobs are the worst thing to bruise due to the tissue underneath.

So, anti-inflammatories for two weeks to reduce swelling, no lifting and to head butts from DS Grin. If it doesn't shift in six months then back to GP for a re-referral.

To say I am relieved is an understatement. No flying today - I'm off to get drugs (and evening primrose oil which the doc recommended) and then spend a nice afternoon with DBIL and DS.

Yay!!! GrinGrinGrin

BlueEyeshadow · 24/08/2015 14:03

Yay! So pleased to hear that Carpe! Grin

Hope your day has improved knitting

All this name changing is too confusing for a bear of little brain!!

Today I got as far as the factory outlet shoe place, but the car park was overflowing so turned tail and fled at the thought of the queue inside. Still have to do something about school shoes though. Also done grocery shopping ready for my parents' arrival tomorrow. Need to get the house clean and tidy, but will do that in the morning to give the boys as little time as possible to muck it up again.

Swimming this afternoon.

AsTimeGoesBy · 24/08/2015 14:57

SmileSmile

BlueEyeshadow · 25/08/2015 15:03

Are we back?

My parents are arriving this afternoon. House is a tip. Oh well. It's clearly the boys' fault so I'll leave it that way.

Waiting for someone who's supposed to be looking at the roof for our buyers, but they are now 2 1/2 hours late. Grr. Can't contact them, because it's not us who've called them in.

threeislovely · 25/08/2015 15:19

CantSee4Looking · 25/08/2015 16:50

Morning.

Why are pre-teens so extraordinarily exhausting? Confused

Lots of productive days there! Yay for good news Carpe hope your day got better Knitting

So I made today errands day. 2/3rds have been done but now need to traverse the motorway system to get to meadow hell Its all fun fun fun mutters a count down until school goes back ignoring school shoe shopping that is required first

Still dust zapping here. Ta da list should be long and scary but that would require too much effort. Grin

right stuff to do, people to annoy, to do list to cross off.

Cooooffeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!

CarpeJugulum · 25/08/2015 17:24

Oh Blue snap - DH and I were "done" today as well! We're not doing anything until the weekend though - DPIL are taking the whole family out.

Glad the roof is okay though!

knittingwithnettles · 25/08/2015 21:11

more inaction here at Nettle Towers...dcs loving playing board games atm in new outhouse, candles and parents and snacks

ds2 did football today with some old primary acquaintances in park and then went to a Running Club - where he was only person eek, still meant he ended up with a personal training session and apparently learnt how to jump off a treadmill..Hmm It was pouring so all running took place in a gym.

Dd spent all day tidying her drawers and didn't finish tidying her room.

Ds1 finished his Macbeth Controlled Assessment about femininity and Death. Honestly what on earth does a 15 year old know about such things. He concluded that Curly's wife was more feminine than Macbeth because she had a red dress and Macbeth's Wife was less feminine because no clothes were mentioned. they both died.

House slowly silting up with clothes. Food delivery but dh and I felt so tired we couldn't be bothered to cook any of it, so he went out and bought instant pizzas and salad.

Looking forward to watching Educating wales now. Ds1 special request.

Blue hope house move goes through soon, you are a heroine.

no, no point making any plans...really just feel overwhelmingly tired tired tired..but quite cosy Grin

Greymalkin · 26/08/2015 07:24

Good morning fledglings, this is my first foray back into MN since hackergate; what a PITA That was...

Consequently, I am struggling to keep up with name changes! Pretty sure I know who Knitting and CS4L are, but no idea on AsTime is Blush ...

Nothing major happening in Grey-towers, I think Dragon is settling down for hibernation though.

Waves to all, coffee and croissants on the bar.

AsTimeGoesBy · 26/08/2015 08:22

Sorry, I thought you would all be able to spot me through my new name as some of it is the same as my old one. Who Knows when I will change it again.

BlueEyeshadow · 26/08/2015 09:41

Feeling a little worse for wear this morning, but bearing up!

Thanks, knitting. I certainly don't feel like a heroine!!

CarpeJugulum · 26/08/2015 10:40

Name changes are confusing, but I had "spotted" Time. Others, not so much!

Chill out day today. DVDs with DS as he's looking peaky and I CBA.

Huge push tomorrow and then Friday we're off to Alton Towers. But nerve wracking, but I think DS will enjoy it.

CantSee4Looking · 26/08/2015 12:47

Carpe if my memory serves me right we had a half arrangement to go find a hill Wink

My lungs are fucked. still too much dust. But no energy to do what needs to be done Hmm coffee and airing through in progress and then on a hunt for more allergy tablets as I have run out.

I think i need a list:
wash sofa through
hoover all books in lounge
put clean clothes away
finish laundry
wash curtains from my room
put pillows and duvet from my room through washer and dryer
Allow resident tech to fix the computer
sort out stuff for tomo
dust all surfaces
hoover lounge carpet
wash lounge carpet
pop down to pharmacy to pick up meds
make fruit pie
make bread
sort out collecting ds
cull shoes
declutter and clean the porch

CarpeJugulum · 26/08/2015 13:45

CantSee and possibly have a bitch about things?! Grin

knittingwithnettles · 26/08/2015 16:52

dd has been to trampolining with a friend
ds1 still doing Music coursework/homework
ds2 went to Running Club again for an hour

it has been raining all day but now sun has come out and I've spent a bit of time wandering round the garden prodding figs and eating them when they come hurtling down.

still completely lost my mojo though..really cannot face doing anything useful although there is plenty to do I can assure you! Dh has spent an hour sorting out leads and plugs from the drawer and rolling them up neatly.

feel a bit distracted by thoughts of how to deal with ds2 over coming days - it is really difficult to engage him when he knows the Home Ed deal is off and he is going to school imminently (if a place comes through) All I can achieve at present is just to keep switching off computer and taking him out for exercise but he just runs off if I try and do anything specific. Luckily he is a very cheerful chatty mood and would happily go off and play football with anyone (just have to find these people from the ether and engage with the world at large - I managed it yesterday and no doubt I will manage it again tomorrow)

CantSee4Looking · 26/08/2015 22:40

Perhaps depends whether there are children in earshot Carpe Grin

this evening I am mostly reading the bastard cat thread

most of my to do list has been left undone. KO'd by burnout. So will be confined to bed for a few days. very frustrating.

elliepac · 27/08/2015 07:08

Morning all. Busy few days here trying to squeeze the last few days of enjoyment out of the holidays. DS's birthday went well with visit to theme park although it was weird dropping him off at his dad's for the rest of his birthday. Sadness at that assuaged by actually being able to visit DP as he is in the country????.

As is the norm for this time of year, mind is beginning to wander back towards work and I am going into school today for a couple of hours to try and get a couple of bits and bobs done. Plus coffee with friend. And visit to another. Then drop dc's off with stbxh and off to DP's for the night. Busy day. And no flying. Again.

First time back on since hackergate so will go and catch up with the thread now.
