Hi Tortoise, those bics and flapjacks sound nice.Does it work out cheeper to make them?I get sainsburys cheapo ones at the mo.Choccy digestives are only 25p!I bet yours taste a lot better though. Are you still waiting to find out if you're having the boys for christmas?
DD2 has just woke up and is demanding her bath,i was running it when she fell asleep.Trying to talk her into having it in morning.Better go and make her something to eat though!

ISawTortoiseKissingSantaClaus · 21/11/2006 20:55

I don't know if it works out cheaper but as i already had the ingredients it was better than buying with the last few pennies. No money now until thursday.
I had what was left of the mash and veg for my tea with a bit of grated cheese on top!!
And it suddenly hit me today that its a week until the 1st and then nearly xmas. OMG its suddenly come round so quickly!

ISawTortoiseKissingSantaClaus · 21/11/2006 20:58

Yes am still waiting to hear about xmas. SW has said they don't back my requested contact time for xmas day. Need to get hold of my solicitor and see what he says. I know we can get into court before the 22nd Dec if its not agreed.I just don't see why he should get xmas day again. Boxing day would be my normal contact day.

Quootiepie · 21/11/2006 21:04

Hello - internet been unplugged all day, then went to MILs so havent been on This thread gets very big! Will read in a min Nothing done today (who'd have guessed???) and not much tomorrow either as we are back at MILs for abit...

fannyannie · 21/11/2006 21:07

woohoo - fire it LIT - hopefully enough coal on there to keep it going until DH gets in - when he can go out to the greenhouse (it's our shed LOL) to open the new bag and bring some more in .

Now just need to take the rest of the clothes upstairs and put them away and that'll be me done

ISawTortoiseKissingSantaClaus · 21/11/2006 21:10

Q Its an unusually long thread today compaired to recent ones!
Well done fannyannie.

HazelnutsRoastingOnAnOpenFire · 21/11/2006 21:10

squatchette The weather is just so cold, we are not used to the cold hfter having it so warm.
NO he did not turn up. Did not think he would.

Meeting is sort of to do with xp1. Tortoise, its what the call "Core Group" meeting. It was only me and SW and the school there. Nothing really said apart from how things are going. Well they are not really. XP1 keeps saying I stop him from seeing, but hes the one that has not bothered. I have not heard anything from him or his solicitor about Saturday yet. I really hope he tries to say I went out. Hehe I did ask the SW not to send him the minutes for the meeting as he has not bothered and why should he know whats going on just so he can work out what hes going to say or do next.
Xp1 gets SS to give him a taxi to get to and from the meeting, He says there are no buses. I dont know how I get there then? Though I am glad as I dont have to go on a bus with him them.

I have hoovered and cleaned the kitchen and the DW has done it bit. Just needs unloading soon. Still to hot at mo.

lol @ computer wanting to be ill too squatchette

ISawTortoiseKissingSantaClaus · 21/11/2006 21:13

Same as i have got thursday then HN! Normally pretty crap meetings! Least you didn't have to sit in the same room as your xp1.I will have to with xp2.Oh lucky me!!

HazelnutsRoastingOnAnOpenFire · 21/11/2006 21:13

fannyannie. I would love an open fire. My gran had one and I loved it. I have a gas fire that looks like a real fire but its not the same

HazelnutsRoastingOnAnOpenFire · 21/11/2006 21:16

yeah they are crap!! Nothing ever gets sorted at them.
Do you have to have xp1 there? I hope you can get something sorted with Christmas!

fannyannie · 21/11/2006 21:18

hazelnuts - that's what sold this house to us - despite it's (massive I must confess) downstairs bathroom the first thing we saw was the original early 1900's fireplace - complete with tiles that you wouldn't even DREAM of buying to put in your house today. But because it's part of the fireplace it's goes IYKWIM. We had an open fire at home until I was about 6 and it just brought back such wonderful memories.

It's admittedly a bit harder work than a gas fire, needs cleaning out, and doesn't give 'instant' heat but SOOOOO worth the effort. DH and I were saying the other night that when (in the very distant future) we come to move out of this house we wouldn't even consider somewhere without a real fire.....BUT we want a house that's got a proper place to keep the coal (ie a cellar with coal bunker thingy) as we have to buy bags and keep it outside in the greenhouse [frown]

HazelnutsRoastingOnAnOpenFire · 21/11/2006 21:22

yeah. Nothing beats an open fire. My gran had a coal shed and a big wood shed. She burnt both on her fire. The smell of the woods burning was fab. I could sit in front of it for hrs just watching the flames.

squatchette · 21/11/2006 21:23

Tort join the skint club.I'm panicking about xmas it really has sneaked up on us hasn't it?So glad i payed all my catalogues off i'll be using them for the girls pressies by the looks of it.
Everyone on here is so organised makes me feel useless. The girls get plenty off my dad though and they're still young enough to appreciate anything they get. They get excited when i bring back toys from the newsagents that cost less than a pound.
One thing i really want is a real tree haven't got a clue how much they cost yet though.I'm going to be making most the decorations too.Need to get my ingrediants this week for homemade chutneys for my dad and step mum too.I think it's all too easy to get wrapped up in the commercial side of it all, when that's not what it's really all about.

IvortheEngine · 21/11/2006 21:28

Just a quickie as I've very briefly read through the thread. Long working day (for me, anyway) today so am pretty tired. Managed to buy a couple of things on ebay tonight so I'm pleased with that. I've got receipts all over the kitchen table as I'm part way through finding what is needed for dh to return some things to M&S tomorrow. I must finish that now and iron two shirts for dh - one for tomorrow morning and one for the following day. The ironing pile grew again after me doing so well a week or two ago!

luda Sorry in advance if I'm missing any of your posts as I'm not on the daily threads that regularly. Are you set up for CAT? If not, perhaps I'll set it up for me and I'll CAT you so that we can be in touch on e-mail. If you want to, that is.

Back to the receipts!

ISawTortoiseKissingSantaClaus · 21/11/2006 21:28

Wish my catalogues were paid off! Im in major debt with quite a few plus credit card. Im glad a bought a few bits last month now. But still need to get DS2 his main present.
Also need stocking fillers.
Have a bit in paypal and some items im trying to sell on ebay.Im hoping i can get paypal upto £100 then transfer it to the bank. Don't know about food for xmas though!

HN yes xp1 will be there. Its split into 2 meeting so xp1 and xp2 don't have to be in the same room together!

HazelnutsRoastingOnAnOpenFire · 21/11/2006 21:37

lol @ being split into to meeting.

My xp2 would not sit in the same room as xp1 as he could not stand all the lying that xp1 did and not being able to say a word without being put down by SW for saying things. XP1 was right and he was wrong is what we got told. Xp2 did not see the sense or why he should be the one made to look a fool b/c xp1 wanted to lie all the time. Mine you SW put him down for doing that too. What ever Xp2 did was wrong! to SS

HazelnutsRoastingOnAnOpenFire · 21/11/2006 21:42

Hi and bye Ivor. I have some ironing to do too.
I will do that in the morning though.

I am off to bed now, so I can catch up on the sleep I lost last night.

See you all tomorrow.

NN all xx

IvortheEngine · 21/11/2006 22:36

Hi and bye to you, too, HazelNuts. I've done the M&S stuff and three shirts! I had to wear thin gloves to iron, though, as my hands are cracking and bleeding on a couple of the knuckles. Not nice. This is me for the next 4 or 5 months, I'm afraid. Rubbish circulation and cracky skin. Ah, well. See you all tomorrow, but don't let me on here after 10am. I find it hard to go to bed when dh isn't here and will need a sharp reprimand from someone if I'm seen on here after 10pm.

squatchette · 21/11/2006 22:37

NN Hazel, wish my two would go to sleep so i can go to bed too.Just been having a look in the online version of studio catalogue and made a list of the main things i need to order for xmas.Finaly i'm doing something.Tortoise thanks for reminding me i need to get all the extra food organised.Have a plan-when car comes go to Aldi and get a few things each week .How long have we left about 5 weeks.

I don't have a credit card thank God i'd probably treat it like monopoly money and owe loads.
As you can tell i'm crap with money,Dp is the sensible one if it wasn't for him i'd be in a right mess.He does have some positive traits.
Saying that he ordered one of those home multi gyms about 3 months ago and it still isn't assembled let alone used.Shame really i could do with some exercise.

squatchette · 21/11/2006 22:39

Ivor -my hands are just like that too.I like to think it's all the cleaning i do,it only happens in winter though!I sometimes cover them in vaseline and put gloves on over night which seems to help a little.

ISawTortoiseKissingSantaClaus · 21/11/2006 23:07

Squat I personally would not touch studio with a ten foot barge pole ever again! There interest is unbelievable and i have ended up owing more than i have spent. I think they are good if you pay off each item before adding more. Otherwise it costs you more in the long run.
IMO you are better off paying a little more from somewhere else catalogue wise.
My credit card has been chopped as it got upto £4000 (should i really admit that??)
CAB are dealing with my debts at the moment. They think i can offer £1 a month to each company i owe to.Can you imagine how long the credit card will take to pay off at that amount!

ISawTortoiseKissingSantaClaus · 21/11/2006 23:08

Damn forgot to say my hands get bad too but i put hand cream on everynight with gloves over the top. They are lovely and soft each morning.

squatchette · 21/11/2006 23:21

Tortoise ikwym about studio but we always pay about 10 times the min payment. At first i was just paying the min payments then dp noticed all the interest and made us pay it all off.Thought he was exagerating tbh but from what you say obviously not.

The main reason i'll be using them is we have a high credit limit through buying so much off them this year.I also have a kays catalogue and littlewoods so maybe i'll check them out tomorrow before i decide as i'm obviously not going to get the xmas stuff payed off till about march i estimate, not with the £50 a week going to clear energy bills.

I used to work for the GUS group and got fantastic discounts ,saying that though it was the only sales job i ever had that didn't pay bonuses.I used to get given bottles of wine and chocs most weeks but it's not the same as a £200 cash bonus each week!Oh how i miss work.

squatchette · 21/11/2006 23:27

Tortoise if you pay £1 a month to each debtor does that mean it still gathers shitloads of interest?I didn't realise you could make such small repayments .It's better than having the bailiffs round.
DP has been scaring me to death over my very small debts he said if i get in trouble with the gas and electric they will contact social services and they'll put the kids in care.Do you know typing this makes me realise how stupid that sounds.Surely people don't lose their children for getting in debt do they??

ISawTortoiseKissingSantaClaus · 21/11/2006 23:35

I think they have to stop interest going on because it would kin of cancel out the payment! CAB looked at my incomings and outgoings and said thats all i have left for each or the option to go bankrupt.
Well if that was true i guess all my kids would be in care!! I think i owe in total around £6000! Its alot but compaired to some people its a small amount. I still don't know whats best to do.
