Fledglings chatter and try to FLY through July

BlueEyeshadow · 30/06/2015 21:59

Following June's chatty thread, welcome aboard another month of vaguely trying to follow FLY Lady's housekeeping system. There are still babysteps and missions for each day and the little and often system for decluttering and keeping chaos at bay.

It is still a long running thread and newbies will always be welcome. Usual disclaimer still applies "Don’t let it put you off if we appear a bit cliquey, we really aren’t! Some of us have been on here for years – but all lurkers, intermittent returnees, oldies and newcomers very, very welcome"

But for another month we'll try to fly without daily links. The Big link you will need is the launch pad which will take you to all the daily reminders/missions/zones etc...

The first link for the babysteps is the particularly waffly introduction to the system, and through it you can get to all of the other links.

So it only remains for me to thank DEM for setting up the last thread Thanks, and stock up the naughty corner bar for when it all gets a bit much. Plenty of Brew Wine Biscuit and Cake to see us through.

WhoKnows - glad the leaving do went well. Yes, I'm sure it feels strange after all the years you've been taking him there, but at least you know he's going on to a good school.

Grey - hurray for the lie ins! Let's hope it's the start of a new phase. Agree with you about Dahl's darkness. I hid 'The Witches' from DS2, but gave it to him to read yesterday, as he was sad he didn't have any more Dahl books to read, apart from 'Boy' and 'The Minpins'. I explained why I'd kept it from him and after reading it for half an hour or so, he said, "I see what you mean, Mum. I'm really glad you didn't give this to me before."

Hope the author reading is interesting (am intrigued now and wondering which author) and that the tea with great grandma and MIL goes well.

MrsMook - sympathies on the laundry basket in your bedroom. We have the same issue, as there is nowhere else to put it and I don't usually have the inclination time to sort it all out, let alone iron, straight away. Sounds like you are getting lots done though.

ta da

Phoned dr to sort out appt for DS1
Cats fed
DH and DC fed
Usual annoying and pointless battle with DS1 about taking his meds
Bedclothes stripped
Washing on
Dishwasher loaded and on
Looked at new book with DS2
Bath and hairwash for DS2
Checked emails

This morning, DS2 and I are making this and playing some story-writing games I picked up for free at the museum. I also need to get both him and DS1 out for some exercise, but am going to have my work cut out with DS1, who stayed up too late and is very grumpy this morning. And it's raining.

Hair appointment for cut and colour this afternoon, when DH comes back from work and takes over Grin.

BlueEyeshadow · 16/07/2015 13:49

Hmm, could have sworn I posted earlier. Had a frustrating morning not quite getting anything done properly, but I've finished my cushion!! School visits were good yesterday, although DS2 was a bit under the weather.

Hope you enjoy the author visit, Grey.

I've never read the Witches, Toffee, it would certainly have scared me as a child. We've just got a big set of Dahl story CDs for the car (cheap on the Book People) and just been listening to the BFG.

Love the cushion Blue, there is something super satisfying about long overdue project being completed!

Toffee, I agree with you about The Witches, mind you, underneath all the initial humour, The Twits was pretty dark stuff, serious emotional and physical abuse in that relationship!

The author I went to see was Joe Abercrombie who writes pseudo-fantasy, really gritty stuff. He was full of energy and very engaging.

Ta das
Dishwasher on
Cats fed x2
Bed made
Washing on
Started putting together a box of stuff to take to charity shop tomorrow

ToffeeWhirl · 16/07/2015 18:27

Yes, I seem to remember hiding 'The Twits' too, Grey, but DS2 tells me he has read it now. Looks as if the dark stuff went right over his head.

Glad you enjoyed the author reading. He isn't an author I know, but it must have been great to meet someone you admire.

Blue - wow, that cushion is beautiful. Am so in awe of all you fledglings who can sew and suchlike as I'm just hopeless at it.

Am tempted by the Roald Dahl CDs now...

Just spent a very happy two hours being pampered at my hairdressers and she did a really good job. Am feeling terribly guilty, though, because I booked with a different hairdresser in the same salon for next time (she's my regular hairdresser, back from maternity leave). Feel as though I've rejected the first one when the truth is she is really good at her job, but I can chat more easily with the other one. Then, just after I'd booked with her colleague, the one who did my hair today came out of the staff room with a special beribboned box she'd specially found for me to pack up a gift of hair products I'd just bought for a friend. Argh! Guilt overload.

Anyway, time for Pimms and dinner. Unfortunately, DS2 wants me to help him make salsa first and apparently I promised.

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeGoes · 16/07/2015 23:16

We've got that Roald Dahl CD set, it's very good. Danny the Champion of the World and Matilda have been the most listened to (had it a couple of years).

Wow, did you make that Blue? That's amazing.

Well, two school events, Scouts, two trips to the allotment, a trip to Aldi and a few hours work squeezed into the middle of the day have meant yet again, very little Flying. Two loads of washing done tonight and food shopping put away but that's about all.

fuzzpig · 17/07/2015 00:47

Blimey Blue that cushion is lovely! Very impressed and jealous :o

I've had a ridiculously busy day and now can't sleep, hence being on the laptop at stupid o'clock. I did achieve some stuff, and had a lovely social evening with colleagues, but nothing got done actually in the house! In fact the washing is still in the machine from yesterday... right I'm going to do that NOW. No excuses!

Tomorrow (today :() I must do some work with the DCs in the morning, as in the afternoon it's science club and then a playdate. And I need to pay a cheque in. I have a feeling that will be the limit of my achievements!

I'm going to google that author - we are arranging some events at work that he might be perfect for... :o

BlueEyeshadow · 17/07/2015 08:00

Blush re cushion. Am ridiculously pleased to have finished it, having done the cross stitch over a decade ago!

We've had a pretty awful morning so far after a big storm in the night and then everyone being awake and tired too early. Much shouting has happened and much Brew will be required. Sigh.

Blue i have a piece of cross stitch I started over 10 yrs ago that I haven't finished. Life happens Grin Well done on getting it finished now.

Another day, another shit scary to do list.

DarkEvilMoon · 17/07/2015 20:00

Tumble weed infestations grey Shock Grin

Dogsbumhair · 18/07/2015 02:50

Just thought I'd throw a quick hi into tumbleweed infestation as I'm up Breastfeeding Meerkitten. Thanks for babymoon comments a couple of pages back Swan, I really do feel like I could do with doing nothing but feeding and cuddling Meerkitten for a few days.

Dogsbumhair · 18/07/2015 02:54

Having lost my message once I decided to post before I lost it again, only having partial use of righthand due to Meerkitten isn't making this easy!

Went for a lovely walk with Meerkitten in a sling today with friend and dog in sunshine and enjoyed an ice-cream. Definitely no flying here apart from endless laundry!

Dogsbumhair · 18/07/2015 04:45

Meerkitten still putting on weight nicely, she was up to 7lb 3oz at her six week check on Tuesday and is getting weighed again on Monday.

DP seems to be very into predicting/betting what she weighs each time she has a weigh in, slightly odd but it seems to keep him happy.

Dogsbumhair · 18/07/2015 04:52

I'm finding this very hard to do on phone but still at least it means that I've been able to check in (smile)

Sounds like you are all very busy too with end of school stuff.

Will try and check in again soon (smile)

Dogsbumhair · 18/07/2015 05:13

Doh, have even forgotten how to do smileys Smile

fuzzpig · 18/07/2015 08:06

Hi Dogs! Pleased little Meerkitten is doing well :)

I've had a ridiculously busy few days and it's not stopping yet. I'd love to get to point where being out so much (going to home ed activities, meet ups etc) meant that the house stayed tidy, but ATM it just means it gets messier!? We never seem to have time to tidy up before we rush and get the bus...

I am looking forward to tomorrow - going to see a film, just me and DSD, she asked :)

elliepac · 18/07/2015 08:20

I'm back...again....but this time school has broken up and I may actually manage to post????. The house has reached end of term apocalyptic disorder proportions and I really need to do some flying and i need you lovely lot for inspiration.

Dc's are with stbxh this weekend so I have no excuses and just need to get on with it. So today I am going to list post later and attempt to cover said list before coffee with friend and cinema visit later on.

On the plus side..,and not to annoy you all but I now have 6 weeks off work..woooohoooo. Have got a week in Pembrokshire with dsis and family in August and next week am flying out to germany to see the new man (suppose I should call him DP nowSmile) for a few days.

Will be back in a bit to post my mammoth to do list. Hope everyone is well.

elliepac · 18/07/2015 08:40

Upon pondering a list I realised it was actually pretty simple.

DarkEvilMoon · 18/07/2015 09:10
