Fledglings chatter and try to FLY through July

Following June's chatty thread, welcome aboard another month of vaguely trying to follow FLY Lady's housekeeping system. There are still babysteps and missions for each day and the little and often system for decluttering and keeping chaos at bay.

It is still a long running thread and newbies will always be welcome. Usual disclaimer still applies "Don’t let it put you off if we appear a bit cliquey, we really aren’t! Some of us have been on here for years – but all lurkers, intermittent returnees, oldies and newcomers very, very welcome"

But for another month we'll try to fly without daily links. The Big link you will need is the launch pad which will take you to all the daily reminders/missions/zones etc...

The first link for the babysteps is the particularly waffly introduction to the system, and through it you can get to all of the other links.

So it only remains for me to thank DEM for setting up the last thread Thanks, and stock up the naughty corner bar for when it all gets a bit much. Plenty of Brew Wine Biscuit and Cake to see us through.

DEM - I could easily eat a whole tub of B&J's too. I had to stop buying it for that very reason Blush. Well done on all you've achieved today (including polishing off the tub of ice cream Grin).

Oh dear, Blue, that sounds very stressful. Thank goodness you're going home tomorrow.

Grey - good luck tomorrow.

Does anyone know who's running the thread next month? It's nearly time to set up the new thread.

Thinking of you this morning Grey as you POAS. We're all behind you. Well, not literally, as that'd be a bit gross. :)

Yes, good luck, Grey. Nerve wracking to say the least.

I went to bed too late last night (fell into the internet rabbit hole). So cross with myself, as I have a busy day today and wanted to get lots done.

Anyway, am using an app called Remember the Milk on my new phone, which I'm hoping will make me more efficient.

Does anyone use the Flylady app? That's the next one I'm planning to download, so I can get to grips with the housework again.

I wanted to get loads done today to, but didn't fall into the tv/internet trap. Asleep around 11pm still slept through the alarms and struggling to get up though. Hmm.

Really really late, but just wanted to say "I hope you get the result you want" to grey

I'm not using any apps (to be honest, anything that encourages me to get out my phone when I'm supposed to be tidying tends to be detrimental to productivity). However I decided to follow Flylady on Twitter earlier this week, she does send out useful prompts about early nights, shining sinks or what have you. But, just like the emails, it's overkill. 73 tweets yesterday.

Astoundingly I've left my iPod, with its flat battery, alone for well over a week.

But I've replaced it with using the lovely new laptop so not so virtuous as it sounds - although I'm certainly not using it as much, since it's a lot more effort to haul it out and switch it on etc rather than checking the iPod a gazillion times a day from the comfort of the sofa.

I've done naff all today beyond Super Skills Time and Wii Fit with the DCs! Legs aching, dizzy head, think I've overdone it a tad. But I'm not back to work til Monday (actually not looking forward to it in the slightest ATM :() so have a little while to recover. DD has the neighbours round currently, they are playing wii together but I still find it kind of stressful having a room full of kids! Blush

I really do need to spruce up the downstairs a little before tomorrow though, as it's pretty much in the same state as when my parents left (although I have done some less obvious stuff) and don't want it to look like we haven't appreciated what mum did, because of course we do! Must go and do some tiny things that WILL add up to the bigger, better picture...

DEM - you clearly needed that sleep.

Who - 73 tweets Shock! That's the trouble with Flylady - she just doesn't know when to stop. I still think I should download her app, though, as it might kickstart me.

I would find it stressful to have a roomful of kids too, fuzz, but it sounds like your DD is having fun. Good luck with sprucing up the downstairs.

Used my 'Remember the Milk' app for the first time this morning. Got loads done, but was exhausted by lunchtime! It definitely helped me focus, though.

DS2 has a friend round this afternoon. Am going to take both of them to the playground shortly, hopefully accompanied by DS1. Then we're off to a surprise birthday party later.

What's the premise of the milk app, Toffee? I mean besides not forgetting dairy produce :)

DD's gone back to the neighbour's for a bit now so peace reigns, but I barely moved from the sofa, legs killing. Just realised AF is due soon which is probably not helping.

Speaking of which, Grey I hope you're ok!

It's just a reminder app, fuzz, and I have yet to see why it's any better than a pen and paper, but am enjoying the novelty. I think it will repeat regular reminders for you and suchlike, but haven't really got to grips with it yet.

Glad you have a babysitter for the DD.

Have just set my computer to turn off automatically at 11.30 every night. Doubtless I will regret that, but it is the sensible thing to do.

DS2 and his friend are ready to come out to the playground, but DS1 is playing online with a friend and doesn't want to come. He said he'll go for a walk round the block later instead. To be fair, he probably doesn't want to go to the playground with two nine year olds either.

I am currently knitting, frogging, swearing and eating chocolate. Off out shortly to run an errand and catch up with a friend. There will be no flying today. Grin

Thanks for new thread DEM, will hop over there in a minute.

POAS gave the right result, a big fat negative, but where the f--- is AF? It stresses me out so much.

didn't want to put that on the nice new shiny thread

Thank goodness, Grey :) I would get to the GP next week if it's not made an appearance by then.

hi all, back briefly but going on ferry back again tomorrow to Eire with ds2.
So slack about housekeeping at moment. My sister said What are your plans for holidays and I said Surviving them..Dh has been looking after ds2 in London for the week as he is not coming with us at all. It has been much quieter and easier without him but slightly boring, as the incentive to get up and organise things has been less Blush I've read four books already. So nice.

boring without ds2 I mean, not dh...Dh is the one not coming with us.

Garden looking great here, dh has planted four new plants and had slug-a-geddon.. It must be the ivy that is their secret hideout. Ds2 has been playing a lot in the new house, and setting up all sorts of trains and scaletrix. Dh said he needed constant supervisions and structuring and then he was delightful.

Grin sometimes it is nice to have DPs, DHs having the dc on their own for a while for full grasping of the situation to happen. Glad you are having a lovely time Swan bugger about slug-a-geddon though :(

we have decamped to the new thread August's thread
