Fledglings chatter and try to FLY through July

BlueEyeshadow · 30/06/2015 21:59

Following June's chatty thread, welcome aboard another month of vaguely trying to follow FLY Lady's housekeeping system. There are still babysteps and missions for each day and the little and often system for decluttering and keeping chaos at bay.

It is still a long running thread and newbies will always be welcome. Usual disclaimer still applies "Don’t let it put you off if we appear a bit cliquey, we really aren’t! Some of us have been on here for years – but all lurkers, intermittent returnees, oldies and newcomers very, very welcome"

But for another month we'll try to fly without daily links. The Big link you will need is the launch pad which will take you to all the daily reminders/missions/zones etc...

The first link for the babysteps is the particularly waffly introduction to the system, and through it you can get to all of the other links.

So it only remains for me to thank DEM for setting up the last thread Thanks, and stock up the naughty corner bar for when it all gets a bit much. Plenty of Brew Wine Biscuit and Cake to see us through.

Why is it so flipping cold?!

Ta da
early training
1 load washing

About to grab second breakfast/brunch and tackle the to do list. Which is, as ever, huge.

I'm making progress. Dh has printed out some invoices for me re: EHCP because my computer cannot talk to the printer [sob]

I've packed. In totally haphazard and random manner. Have actually packed dirty washing so I don't have to wash it here...

DEM I agree it is far too cold. But tis always thus in Eire so it is good because it actually reminds dd that shorts and skimpy tops will be no use to her at all..she needs woolly jumpers, cardis and trackies. And hot custard.

Packing dirty washing sounds very efficient, swan: you are just managing your time Grin.

Managed to get DS1 to the GP for his coeliac test. It was all sunny and warm and the children were cheery, so I suggested a walk later. However, since our return, the boys' moods have changed and the sun has gone in. So, that didn't last long.

I need to do some housework, but am bored at the thought. For one thing, the litter trays need washing and replenishing, which is not my favourite job.

Hi everyone,

Fuzz - hooray for helpful parents! Glad it's helped you and you are feeling more positive

Shannara - lovely to see you back.

I'm currently doing battle with a screaming toddler who insists he isn't tired and doesn't like his bed, yet can barely keep his eyes open...

Aw thanks Grey :)

I'm still quite tired, but I'm just finishing off a curry in the SC and made a big lentil stew, going to do a bit more cooking now. I also sat down to do a bit of typing (I have actually been given a deadline now - end of August, which seems doable) but I decided to do a quick tidy before that - I put quite a few things in their proper places, and filled a large Trofast bucket with rubbish in under 15mins! Flylady is sooo right about quick bursts. And it always seems less scary than the prospect of exhausting myself for hours on end.

Right, going to bag up my curry (hoping it tastes as good as it smells!) and stew, and then get spag bol on the go, and make some burgers. My freezer is looking rather beautifully stocked :o

...And then I will have earned a rest during which I will satisfy my Obsessive Compulsive Cleaners addiction on 4od. :o

It's jolly quiet here! I have had a decent day so far, plenty of cooking, bit of typing, bit of tidying, a little tai chi :)

Fuzzpig You're on Fire!! Dragon approves!

I haven't had a visit from AF this month and it's getting a bit worrying. I was sterilised a year ago so I can't be up-duffed, can I?? would not under any circumstances be good news

Waves! We've been to Whitby by steam train today. A touch on the bracing side, and heaving with tourists, but fun. Hoping weather will cooperate for a trip to Castle Howard tomorrow as the adventure playground will be needed for bribing the boys around the house. It's definitely too cold - we've had the electric fire on here!!

Oh crikey, Grey - how late are you? Might be worth POAS if only to rule it out and stop you worrying? I'm sure it wouldn't be that though if you've been sterilised!

One thing that has stopped my periods in the past was, bizarrely, a UTI. I was so late that I thought I must also be up-duffed! But it was only when I went to the GP in a state of panic and confusion that I found out I had an infection - a really bad one. The GP told me that when UTIs get that nasty, they can have a knock on effect on all sorts of things. I'd had none of the usual symptoms, the urgency to wee etc, so I really didn't know. Might be worth thinking about anyway.

Greymalkin · 30/07/2015 08:46

I'm about eight days late. Going to have to POAS I think.

Report
fuzzpig · 30/07/2015 09:33

We will be here when you do Thanks 8 days, not too long (although these things always feel like forever), could 'just' be illness or stress messing it up? Anyway I think it's a good idea just to check.

Sat down yesterday morning and slept, a lot. Terribly fuzzy headed this morning as a result and appear to have collected a cold/virus on my travels Hmm

Grey whilst I agree it is very unlikely that you are pregnant poas will hopefully give you peace of mind. And just as Fuzzpig says are here for as much hand holding as you need.

Hey Fuzzpig lovely the progress, you sound a bit happier too Flowers Baby steps, baby steps... Grin

I still have a huge amount to do, but seriously considering disappearing off into the hills for a drive. Will mean I HAVE to focus this weekend but

I am struggling to get started today too!

I have a Dr Pepper can (one of my vices!) cooling in the freezer... I might just tell myself I can have it once I've actually shifted my butt off the sofa and achieved something. But I'm in a 'don't have a clue where to start' type mood!

Report
DarkEvilMoon · 30/07/2015 11:16

'don't have a clue where to start' - yep except I know exactly where to start and I don't want to. Blush.

I think i am going to give myself permission to go out. I am more likely to get stuff done later if I do. Especially as I am still in bed. Hmm

Report
fuzzpig · 30/07/2015 14:13

So where ARE you starting, DEM? :o

I haven't attempted anything big today - it feels destined to fail. I'm going for the 'think of something small that needs doing, and do it immediately' method. Most of these things are probably what normal, in-control-of-their-home people do without thinking, but it's still an achievement for me! :)

With the job that isn't on my URGENT to do list Wink

ta da
1 1/2 hrs wall paper stripping
ds' bedding washed
1 trip to ikea for the 1 storage bag that was needed and a hot dog
taken bed apart
eaten a tub of B&J's cookie dough ice cream

I am in the process of actually putting the stuff into storage of the bed that needs it. Which was on my urgent to do list.

Report
Toffeewhirl · 30/07/2015 17:09

grey - sorry, that must be such a worry. Hope all is ok.

DEM - I stopped DS2 buying B&J ice cream today as we now have an ice-cream maker - but you have reminded me that there is nothing like B&J's Cookie Dough ice cream . That is my absolute favourite.

fuzz - as you had a very busy day yesterday, I think you probably need to take it easier today.

Blue - steam train trip sounds lovely. Hope Castle Howard is equally successful today.

We have managed to get DS1 out for another family trip. We're on a roll! We took him and Ds2 to Ashdown Forest for a few hours: lots of walking, climbing trees and playing with sticks. DS1 thought it was hilarious to keep throwing sticks and stones at us, though, which we didn't find funny at all. Am really noticing his problems with social skills at the moment.

Anyway, we managed lots of walking in the sunshine, then picked up some picnic food at Tesco and had lunch back home - so that's exercise, vitamin D, fresh air and calories all covered for now Smile.

Unfortunately, DH and I thought we could all have a bit of a break from each other this afternoon and the DC had different ideas. It drives me bonkers when I can't read MN check my emails without interruption.

Flying: have organised a playdate for DS2 tomorrow, dealt with washing up, cleared out the fridge of old food, hoovered the floors, mopped the kitchen floor and tidied up the kitchen. Still haven't changed the cat litter trays, which I should do today but can't be arsed.

Fingers crossed for you Grey.

Well, DCs at clubs this morning and me at work, then a fairly relaxing afternoon where I have just been steadily tidying the house interspersed with reading the paper, MN on phone etc. DS has a friend round, they are playing darts, so I've moved myself upstairs.

Have discovered that Aldi do very decent B&J type ice cream for about half the price of the real thing.

Have you been to the Llama Park at Ashdown Toffee? I agree I shouldn't push myself too much today, I've done a few more little bits like giving the SC and food processor a proper clean so as to get them in their new home in the cleaned cupboard. My legs are a bit achy and I do need to do my Graded Exercise Therapy (I've started a proper chart this week) so don't want to really overdo things.

Hurray for hitting that to do list, DEM!

Castle Howard nearly ended in disaster even before lunch as a row between DH and step-FIL nearly had everyone packing their bags and going home. Peace was eventually restored and the day passed off ok, but DH and MIL are both still rather out of sorts. Fortunately not with each other. Step-FIL will never admit that he was out of line though. Confused Having a conciliatory takeaway curry tonight but glad to be heading home tomorrow...!

Grey hope things are ok. If it's any comfort, I'm frequently a week or two late, and have been known to skip a whole month for no obvious reason.
