The fledglings try something new for June

Hello, welcome back and jump on board for June.

As the thread title say we are mixing things up a bit this month, it might work. Then again it might not. It is still a long running thread and newbies will always be welcome. Usual disclaimer still applies "Don’t let it put you off if we appear a bit cliquey, we really aren’t! Some of us have been on here for years – but all lurkers, intermittent returnees, oldies and newcomers very, very welcome"

But here is where this thread is mixing it up. No more daily links. The Big link you will need is the launch pad from here you can get the daily reminders/missions/zones etc...

The first link for the babysteps is the particularly waffly introduction to and first babystep here, through it you can get to all of the other links

Not sure this will work or the lack of daily posts will be a problem. So fingers crossed for a month of nattering and flying success...

Sounds like a great start Morien The flylady approach does work as long as you stick with it.

It was my first day back at school today and I realised I really do need to reestablish good morning and evening routines. I feel so disorganised at the moment.

Ta da
Bed made
Lunches made
Washing up done
Washing hung out
Some dry washing folded up

I feel exhausted but I am determined to get the following done:
Some filing for work
Washload in
Dinners washing up
Make lunches
Lay out clothes for tomorrow

ta da

Home ed - handwriting with DS2; he also revised some Maths and did a Progress test and, in spite of his moaning that it was "soooo boooring" he actually did quite well; oh, and he liked his Little Passports delivery, which was all about South Africa
Went out for a walk with BOTH boys, most of it spent with them sword fighting with fallen branches

Amazingly, I have heard back from the job application - and I have an interview! Shock I'm pleased, but terrified.

Swan - DM grew up where she's living now, but then moved to London for most of her adult life and only returned there when she retired.

BlessThisMess · 01/06/2015 19:56

Toffee That's brilliant! When is it?

Swanhildapirouetting · 01/06/2015 20:38

well day continued moderately grumpy as the oven didn't do what expected and chicken took too long Smile but we had it in two stages when we got to the uncooked bit Blush

plates in dw
ds1 did some violin practice after altercation
ds1 laid table very willingly
ds1 did lots of singing (can you tell we have taken his technology away this evening)

I put about 7 books in the right place
decluttered 7 books more

and I suspect I will hang out the washing Grin

but that is it for this evening ...I desperately need to sort out the home books in the kitchen as it is getting ridiculously muddled. and I cannot find any book on the Great Schism grrr for dd although I could swear I had a general history of the world for children

So my plan is: make piles of History, Geography and Science at the very least.

Swanhildapirouetting · 01/06/2015 20:39

Toffee don't be terrified - if you can deal with the LA you can deal with a job interview.

DarkEvilMoon · 01/06/2015 20:50

Grin I love that the LA is worse than a job interview. You can handle camhs too, the interview will be fine you have already conquered the world Wink

Speaking of which ds is at camhs tomo. My normally dark mood is late in settling probably because there is more vitamins in me than me atm but I am sure that by the time of the meeting hits my normal level of hatred, suspicion and dread will have kicked in. Hmm

Doing really rather well on my ta da list. I think I have pretty much killed off my to do list (but I am not going to attempt to find it after deleting a post earlier by accident).

Will skip rounding up tonight as it my brain is a bit meh and unfocused. Will see you tomo

Swoops into the new thread on Dragon - thanks for taking over DEM

I've had a fairly productive day, the vast vast majority of it spend doing DH's company accounts and book keeping, which is 98% done. This is a job I ought to do every month, rather than save it all up to the end of the year...

Also done:
DS to nursery
Online banking
Phone call to elderly bereaved relative
Phone call to nursery re fees
Phone call to organise last interview
Phone call to arrange more work shifts at the hospital
Beds made
Dishwasher unloaded and reloaded
Two loads of laundry done
One load of laundry pegged out on the line, only for it to piss down with rain so I had to leg it out there to get it all in again
So, two loads of laundry hung up on clothes horse
Bag of stuff sorted for the charity shop
DS collected from nursery

Sodding weather here is nothing like June should be. We have a mulberry tree in our garden (and no, I do not dance round it during inclement weather) and the sodding thing drops several hundred seed pods everyday. As we have artificial grass, any debris needs sweeping up, as otherwise it just sits there looking messy. So, yesterday I looked like a raving lunatic brushing my lawn and driveway, it all looked lovely, and today, what with the rain and wind having a rave up outside, the sodding tree has crapped its seed pods all over the place again! Grrrr Angry

Oh, and in case I didn't look totally deranged yesterday, I also had to drag our enormous garden composting thing that lives in the front garden, through my front door, through the kitchen and out to the back for all the seed pods to go in. My neighbours will think I have cracked, brushing grass and hauling composters through the house.

Toffee great news about the interview, and both your DSs are doing great.

Swan glad you had fun at IKEA - I could spend a fortune there!

Blue sounds like the DIY is still going full steam ahead

Linzer hope DD is ok - will she be back in hospital for a review?

DEM you are massively busy as usual! Careful you don't burn out

Bless have the aliens returned your DD yet?!?!

Feetheart - welcome back. Footgolf sounds fun!

Mercury - good to see you again - remember, just jump in where you are.

Fizrim - did you have a nice trip away? Hope you are all recovering now though

Seffina - hello! I don't think we have met (unless you are a seasonal name changer too)

to MissyMoo WhoKnows and Morien

SC - where are you?!

Swanhildapirouetting · 01/06/2015 23:01

DEM and at this stage you will be able to deal with the CAMHS personnel too - suitably armoured by our collective experiences on this thread Grin diagnoses can be a slow time coming whilst parents are invariably blamed for anything from no boundaries to being overly controlling - or or you just might get a kind sensible person. My experience was not completely crap but it certainly left a bad taste in my mouth. My advice is to ask for help in the most carefully considered terms without implying in any way that you are unable to cope but merely seeking clarification on strategies. They certainly do not give much actual "help" but they do write things on bits of paper. Which may prove useful for school.

ToffeeWhirl · 01/06/2015 23:08

Bless - haven't confirmed yet, but Thursday, I think: time to revise for it, but not too much time to fret.

DEM / Swan - actually, you're right! I think CAMHS and the LA are sometimes worse than a job interview. Speaking of which - DEM: best of luck at CAMHS tomorrow.

Sorry for lack of personals, but loads more to do before bed. And first, need to sit with DS1 whilst he gets to sleep. He's worrying now.

Swanhildapirouetting · 01/06/2015 23:10

Grey it does sound a very tidy garden and also must be free of mud Envy Hope you get lots of lovely summer puddings from the mulberries.

SC hope the guests are giving you big hugs and departing and leaving you lots of lovely leftovers
AND Good luck with dd's exams.

Ds1 has a GSCE this Friday - help! Science Foundation paper.

DarkEvilMoon · 02/06/2015 01:56

Hopefully some one will officially write the right word on a bit of paper instead of everyone saying oh it is this but he doesn't tick enough boxes. I am not worried about funding, extra support is only needed in understanding and alteration of verbal instructions. No cost, in fact less cost than not putting the word on a bit of paper and us keep getting sent back to you.

Morning all.

I am the queen of jumping back in grey but I really need to stick with the system for more than a week at a time - maybe this time Hmm

Good luck with Camhs DEM.

To do before work:
Wash up
Change bins and put out
Sort laundry to put away
Wipe kitchen counters
Clear kitchen table hotspot
Put shoes in porch away
Make beds

feetheart · 02/06/2015 11:02

I am in a serious procrastinating mood today and really really should be working. I will do a quick list instead then set the timer for work!

Ta da:

  • All up and out, even reluctant DS who sulked when DH said he couldn't take his juggling balls to school. DH has foolishly said he will give DS £5 Shock if he manages 100 catches. He's up to 40, practicing at every opportunity and well on his way to claiming the huge prize - never offer a determined, competitive child a challenge Hmm
  • Two loads washing on
  • parkrun emails and roster done

To do:

  • WORK
  • Hang out washing (when threat of rains disappears)
  • Morning routine
  • Chilli from freezer for dinner

Right...timer......

DarkEvilMoon · 02/06/2015 11:16

Camhs is done. New school visit later but for now ds is waving a computer controller about and shouting at the tv Hmm

Fizrim · 02/06/2015 12:59

Toffee good luck with the interview and well done for getting to that stage - no mean feat in itself!

We are recovering from the bug, I am mainly antibac-ing and bleaching at the moment, and laundering everything in napisan! As we all caught the bug away from home it it more control than prevention, LOL!

I still feel a bit grim, squatted down to do something this morning and fell into the edge of a low wall - that should give me an interesting mark on my back. Done some more shopping and booked DD on something for August (flipping heck - they've only just gone back and already we need to book the next set of holiday activities up!). Tesco (free!) cookery courses, have a look at the website and see if there are any in your area as they fill up REALLY fast!.

www.eathappyproject.com/lets-cook/

Have a good day everyone antibac sprays self

Missymoomoo1979 · 02/06/2015 14:45

Done nothing today, a local couple have had a house fire and lost everything, they do so much for other people, so I've rallying round to help, I can't donate much but I got a facebook page up and running so people can help etc, will be back later to post as it's school run time.

Greymalkin · 02/06/2015 16:23

Afternoon everyone, hope you are all well.

DEM how did CAMHS go? Tricky at the best of times aren't they?!

Feetheart hope your productivity has taken off. It sounds as though you work from home?

Fizrim take care of yourself, slow down a bit of you can, here , have some Brew

Swanhildapirouetting · 02/06/2015 20:12

managed a bit of decluttering and sorting of school books today (and kitchen now worse than ever as a result) but I did get rid of a load of paper and other recycling

Exercise
ds2 had a visitor this morning
went to big park meetup this afternoon - all very lovely

but now I am knackered from a lot of walking and fresh air with ds2

cooked a big pasta bake with dolmio, mince, and cheese sauce (tasted good actually)

loaded dw
took up some clean laundry

and now I am flaked out lying in bed feeling like my very bones are going to dissolve...Hmm

BlueEyeshadow · 02/06/2015 22:27

Had a lazy kind of day today, which I needed, but feel unaccomplished for it.

Still, ta da! of a kind:
Finished tidying for estate agent (not proper declutter!)
Talked to estate agent
laundry
Painted a patch that I missed the other day
(very) little work
Cooked tea

I've discovered that if I cook a bolognaise but kind of squidge the mince into lumps and call it "meatballs", the boys will eat it! Woohoo!

Fiz that sounds like what we had - take it easy!
DEM - hope CAMHS was OK
Swan - hope you've recovered

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeGoes · 02/06/2015 22:40

I have done bugger all Flying so far this week. One load of laundry today, plus half an hour of moving crap from room to room tidying up. Have been to work, pilates, doctors (plus run around various pharmacies trying unsuccessfully to get a prescription filled). Also an hour at the allotment and DD to ballet. Must do better on the home front though.

Missymoo - how awful about the fire, but it's lovely that your community is rallying round.

DEM - hope school visit went well.

Fiz - cookery courses sound good, sadly none closer than about 25 miles from us, which isn't really do-able.

Toffee - well done on getting the interview, good luck!

Who was it said their DD had been miraculously transformed into a different being? Mine has as well this week, hoping it will last, she has been ready for school on time with virtually no prompting both days this week. Both DCs have been interacting better together too, having a holiday last week has definitely improved things between them. Again, don't suppose it'll last.

DarkEvilMoon · 02/06/2015 23:12

Didn't come out of Camhs with the rages. It is an improvement on some meetings Hmm Not sure how I feel about it. Some interesting points were raised.

No flying today. Been doing stuff with ds as he has half term. Tired and have a mountain of stuff my brain needs to sort out it is a shame that it is james bond mode and has forgotten to write me in at the correct security clearance level.

ToffeeWhirl · 02/06/2015 23:54

That sounds promising about the CAMHS meeting, DEM. How was the new school visit?

Mercury - am impressed at what you do so early in the morning (am definitely NOT a morning person myself, unless I'm forced into it by work/small children)

feet - anti-procrastination day tomorrow, remember!

Fizrim - thanks for the good luck. Hope the bug clears quickly - it sounds grim. I looked up the link to the Tesco cookery classes: nothing in my area, sadly, but it looks good.

Missy - that's terrible - poor couple. You are kind to set up a Facebook page to help.

Grey - sorry you are being woken up so early. It used to wreck me when my DC woke me up in the early hours. It does get better, eventually!

Swan - sounds like DS2 is enjoying a very happy home-ed experience. I was reading an article yesterday about the secrets to happiness, written by a psychology professor: he said listening to music and going out in the fresh air were the top two things to lift your mood.

Your pasta bake sounds lovely. My DS1 refuses to touch my homemade pasta sauce and much prefers Dolmio.

Blue - that sounds like a productive day to me. The 'meatball' bolognese is a lucky find!

WhoKnows - you sound very busy- no wonder you haven't had time for Flying. Good to hear your DC are getting along so well. Am impressed by your DD's good behaviour too!

Job interview has been put back to the end of next week. I had wanted to get it over with, but I'm quite relieved now, as I have plenty of time to prepare first.

DS1 had his first morning in class at his new school this morning. He did really well and was very pleased because they have already put him up a group in Maths, which was a good confidence booster for him. He's was tired and emotional this evening, but that's not surprising really.

Managed to get some Maths and handwriting practice done with DS2 whilst DS1 was at school. He spent most of the afternoon making Lego films with the Hue animation package (I think your DC have this, Swan?). We had the world premiere of his film (all of one minute long) this evening Grin.

DarkEvilMoon · 03/06/2015 00:22

School visit was good. Glad ds1 had a reasonable first day toffee
