Fledglings are Flying into February

Welcome to the February Fledglings thread. Before we get started we have some important notices?:

  1. The Fledglings are a long running thread, some of us have known each other for several years but newcomers are always welcome.
  1. We follow the Flylady way (somewhat flexibly) and we adapt it to suit our lives and needs. That also means we chat a lot too, it is a general thread about life, as well as Flylady.

So the fly lady system there are rules and we have adaptations.?

  1. NO perfectionism - life’s too short.?
  2. Something is better than nothing and sometimes good enough really is good enough.?
  3. This is not about the housework, it is about having more time to do fun stuff. Don't ever feel guilty about doing stuff with the kids over doing the housework. The kids are more important.??And the practical adaptations.
  4. For newbies to the Flylady site and system everything you need will be posted here in the form of links. The homes is divided into zones where we spend one week each on a monthly basis. Within the zones we do babysteps and decluttering - the babysteps are little daily habits to get into, decluttering speaks for itself. As we progress we start doing missions (a more in depth task in that weeks zone). We may even get to detailed cleaning once we have decluttered. There are also daily tasks, on a weekly basis.

WARNING: Unless you want a very cluttered inbox full of gushing quotes and testimonials DO NOT subscribe to the Flylady emails from the site.

So, welcome on board and lets get Flying in February!

My tada list:
Cleaned bathrooms
4 loads washing
Kondoed last load of clothing
Washed windows.
Died on couch

BitchyDoesWitchyThings · 06/02/2015 17:09

ta da
deal with 101 phone calls and rearrangements of appointments
let school know ds still off sick - sickness bug here too
sleep

Not feeling well this week, earache suggests I have a virus. So taking it very easy. Did spend 5 mins clearing my car out last night whilst waiting for friend to arrive. Off to find ds a piece of bread to see if his stomach is settled enough for food.

Sorry to hear you and ds are both under the weather Bitchy

Yes those cheese scones are pretty heroic Engels all that work you put in to pre-baby decluttering and Flying has really, really paid off!! Can't stand visitors that don't know when to leave (apart from the ones you want to stay longer obviously - but it's sods law - because those are the ones that rarely do!!)

Oh sorry, didn't take in to account 400 miles distance Carpe, can see the problem ...

Final bit of ta da list:
filled not-a-party party bags with dd Wink
final exchange of last minute e-mails with parents/animatrice
made three fluffy pink ball type decorations with dd
quick supermarket run for a few bags of crisps etc

Still loads to do in boudoir tomorrow but I'm pretty happy with what I've achieved today.

Must still dry towels before bed and distribute loo rolls.
Must clean desk and hoover home office tomorrow morning
And dust and hoover boudoir floor.
And put up some bunting and blow up balloons
And ask dh to go out and buy paper napkins

Apart from that , pretty much ready!

Now serving ping fish supper (microwave ready meals from supermarket) however. Bit cross with myself for this as didn't do usual veggie soup prep yesterday. It's bitterly cold and dh and dd are both tired we could have done with some vitamin rich soup. Never mind, something had to give.

Going to stop now!!

Have as good a weekend as possible everyone! And 'keep warm' and 'get well soon' to all of those who are ailing!

Slingclutter · 06/02/2015 20:32

**

Hope your df is still improving Whoknows

Not sure if you wanted me to post links tonight? Going ahead in case you did, as off to bed now (hope OK)!

Tomorrow will be our last day in Zone 1 here. (Starting in the kitchen zone on Sunday!)

Babystep no 7, for Sat 7th Feb is here the highly recommended - putting out your clothes for tomorrow the night before - trust us, it works!

No missions because it is the weekend.

Saturday's daily focus is here family fun!

What else? Habit of the month is the highly recommended decluttering 15 mins a day!!

G'night all!!

Am hiding because DH is swearing at the rugby on TV. Don't know why he watches it - it always makes him so cross! Confused

Tada!
Various errands
Long phone call
Dinner in slow cooker
Survived first school governors meeting
Collapsed in a heap.

No flying. Hey ho.

CarpeJugulum · 06/02/2015 21:46

Watching rugby here too. League on Sky and Union on BBC and flicking between them. Poor DH is getting confused! Grin

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeGoes · 06/02/2015 21:55

No to rugby here, it's one of the few televised sports that none of us have the slightest interest in. DCs have gone to bed and I'm sitting looking at the state of the house, needless to say I haven't done much housework this week not that I spent all morning drinking coffee with friends, oh no.

Anyway, I might have to break with tradition and do a weekend home bleugh tomorrow. DF came home from hospital today and my DB is going to come over and see him tomorrow, so I can hopefully get a bit better on top of things.

CarpeJugulum · 06/02/2015 22:04

Definitely need to mop floors tomorrow. Someone dropped coffee grounds on the floor and they got damp, so a chisel is also required.

Local market is on too, so home made sausages for dinner!

CallingAllEngels · 07/02/2015 05:52

Baking is part of my strategy for keeping ds1 busy carpe !

Been a loooong night - feeding ds2 at 11, 2, 5 and 7.

To do
Hoover lounge
Return loan items to homecare shop
Visitors this afternoon
Put away yesterday's 2nd wash
If possible have a nap

Saymwa · 07/02/2015 10:14

Hello All,

Not been on the thread this week but I've appreciated reading you and thank those who have given me support too Smile.

This week I been waiting for results from my scans but I've still not received them and now I'm finding this waiting really difficult. So is my family. Hmm

I've been managing my routines ok , but I've not done much decluttering this week. I've needed to get back on top of my work because when I had time off for tests I got behind. The backlog is still cluttering up my time Smile and clearing it up has been my main objective this week.

Whilst flying I've also found out that I've never really learnt how much time different tasks take. On top of that, when I plan things out, I have tended to expect myself to do more than I actually can. So , today for me , my list is going to be about what I need and reasonably can do whilst I balance out my home and my work jobs:

Morning routine
Make phone call about tonight's organisation ( going to birthday party)
Make dinner
Make food for tonight
Transfer some foodfrom fridge into freezer
Get ready for party
Declutter work Smile

Wishing you all a lovely day and looking forward to reading you.Smile

Engels you have been most impressive today.

I am putting myself in the naughty corner. Not because I have done nothing but because I have done the crash and burn method of tidying and need to sit on my bum and do fuck all this evening. There was evening a mess up with coffee too. A double strength one slipped in and i think it brought the total of coffees drunk to around 6 or 7. Will not sleep well tonight but planning on gently crafting and killing off a few projects that need killing off.

Whoknows am glad that you managed to find time to have a coffee with a friend and that your dad was well enough to be released from hospital

SC thanks for posting the links

CallingAllEngels · 07/02/2015 19:43

I am planning on doing very little tomorrow bitchy !

BitchyDoesWitchyThings · 07/02/2015 19:49

I'm not WinkGrin but i am being kind and not posting the ta da lists

BlueEyeshadow · 07/02/2015 22:24

I've had a day off doing professional development stuff. Met some nice people, been to the pub, talked shop, got weirded out by being back on the uni campus after a scarily long time... DH and the boys seem to have had a good day together too.

Sorry to hear you're still waiting saymw

Big waves to all. Night.

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeGoes · 07/02/2015 23:11

Oops forgot to post links andsm in bed on phone now, will do them in the morning.

Had a lazy morning, then filled three large bin bags for the charity shop. Been to an ice hockey match this evening. Still don't quite get the rules, it's all too fast, but an an enjoyable night out with the kids.

OP posts:
BitchyDoesWitchyThings · 07/02/2015 23:29

Ice hockey rules: get the little black thing in the other team's goal and stop them from getting it into yours whilst trying not to go offside. Simples Wink
Oh and blood on the ice is a bad thing...

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeGoes · 07/02/2015 23:39

Well they must spend a lot of time offside with the amount of penalties given. They also seem to spend a lot of time in the sin bin.

OP posts:
BitchyDoesWitchyThings · 07/02/2015 23:42

Nah there is a whole range of penalties. High stick, roughing, abuse of officials, slashing etc etc. Different penalties different times in the bin. Oh and woe betide the third man into the fight.

pushmepullyou · 08/02/2015 08:14

Gosh, a lot of stressful weeks

BlueEyeshadow · 08/02/2015 08:23

Good day yesterday slightly ruined by a burst water pipe at 11pm. Now have no water and waiting for plumber. Sad

CarpeJugulum · 08/02/2015 09:59

Sorry to hear about the water Blue - sucks doesn't it.

Just a few loads of washing today, and I need to sort out spare room for family visit next week. DH is being sent to supermarket for an essentials run. Oh, and fish pie for dinner to be made.

Need to get off the couch first... Hmm
