Welcome to the February Fledglings thread. Before we get started we have some important notices?:

  1. The Fledglings are a long running thread, some of us have known each other for several years but newcomers are always welcome.
  1. We follow the Flylady way (somewhat flexibly) and we adapt it to suit our lives and needs. That also means we chat a lot too, it is a general thread about life, as well as Flylady.

So the fly lady system there are rules and we have adaptations.?

  1. NO perfectionism - life’s too short.?
  2. Something is better than nothing and sometimes good enough really is good enough.?
  3. This is not about the housework, it is about having more time to do fun stuff. Don't ever feel guilty about doing stuff with the kids over doing the housework. The kids are more important.??And the practical adaptations.
  4. For newbies to the Flylady site and system everything you need will be posted here in the form of links. The homes is divided into zones where we spend one week each on a monthly basis. Within the zones we do babysteps and decluttering - the babysteps are little daily habits to get into, decluttering speaks for itself. As we progress we start doing missions (a more in depth task in that weeks zone). We may even get to detailed cleaning once we have decluttered. There are also daily tasks, on a weekly basis.

WARNING: Unless you want a very cluttered inbox full of gushing quotes and testimonials DO NOT subscribe to the Flylady emails from the site.

So, welcome on board and lets get Flying in February!

Ok I am going to cave, can some one pm me the links for the minecraft party ideas. I am going to hate this but ds will love it and it is an easy one to sort... i hope party is this week

BitchyTakesOnManagement · 01/02/2015 14:31

Whoknows you are a star! Feeling rather less panicked now. Just. Note to self - plan birthday party before the end of January because feb is too short notice Blush

CallingAllEngels · 01/02/2015 14:32

Hello! Settling into life as a family of 4 here. DH is back to work tomorrow so I'm gearing up to get into a proper routine. DS2 is sleeping pretty well byt DS1 has gone hyper and is playing up big time whihc DJ is not dealing with very well.

My aim is to keep everything ticking over (washing, washing up, emptying bins and hoovering) and then gradually declutter during my ML on Mondays and Tuesdays when DS1 is safely at nursery.

Ta da for today
Emptied upstairs bins
supermarket run

Tomorrow's list will be a bit longer!

ToffeeWhirl · 01/02/2015 15:08

I have sorted the kitchen, dealt with various issues involving cats and/or children, fed both of the latter, done all the washing up and put the washing on. But there is still loads to do. Feel knackered, though. DS2's walk with DH doesn't seem to have worn him out, so he's still bouncing round the house like a mad thing.

Still to do: rest of house Sad

GoingGoingGoth · 01/02/2015 15:10

Afternoon all,

Sporty day here (from the couch) 1st Andy Murray, now the old firm match. We had a huge amount of Rangers fans go trooping past earlier, they're not going to be very happy on the way back. It's our first experience of being here when this games on. Basically everyone stays indoors!

Done
Sunday lunch
Washing up
Some tidying

To do
Change bedding
Laundry on

Slingclutter · 01/02/2015 16:51

Yay Goth was wondering what you were up to!!

Great to have you back too Carpe!!

Well done for surviving Whoknows!!

And glad you had a good day yesterday Toffee

Good luck next week Engels!!

pushmepullyou · 01/02/2015 17:04

Happy February Smile

I have also Kondo-ed the clothes only toffee but could do with a bit of encouragement to get any further. I will have to do it thought as we are about to put our house on the market and it's way too full of stuff! Perhaps we should pick a category a month week and try and force ourselves!

Ta da
Meal planning
Online shopping
Routines

To do
Tea
Tidy living room
Tidy kitchen
Laundry folded and put away (my most hated task - it will take at least an hour Shock )

BlessThisMess · 01/02/2015 17:41

No flying today as I've been out with DD1 since 7.30am. She came second in both of her 2 dressage comps ??.

Am doing roast chicken for dinner but apart from that, will not be doing anything apart from supervising homework, baths and bedtime.

MrsMook · 01/02/2015 18:29

Limping along here. Energy and motivation have been quashed by a cold so I have a bit of catching up to do.
My sucess of January has been laundry. Moving the basket has helped to keep things dripping in and out more consistently and avoiding giant mountains to put away, and kept the floors tidier. The house is a bit tidier than its default setting.
Hopefully there'll be more progress in February.

CallingAllEngels · 01/02/2015 19:08

Adding to my ta da
One load of washing (in td now)
nb in bed
showered
washing up

And as promised AAAGES ago, a pic of ds2. This is the day he was born just over 3 weeks ago.

Fledglings are Flying into February
Greymalkin · 01/02/2015 19:27

He's beautiful Engles, sounds like you're doing well x

WhispersOfWickedness · 01/02/2015 19:47

Aww, Engels, he's so lovely Grin

Well done to your DD, Bless :)

Ta da:
Evening routine
DS's reading book
20 min room rescue in living room (it still looks a tip though :()
Got enough laundry sorted that DS has school uniform to wear tomorrow Blush

Got tonnes to do tomorrow too, including another visit to the GP in the morning after I've dropped the DC off. I have been feeling a lot better the last few days though, so hopefully I won't cry all over her like I did last week Blush

ToffeeWhirl · 01/02/2015 20:00

Engels - he's so gorgeous!

BitchyTakesOnManagement · 01/02/2015 20:06

Dear god engels how is it 3 weeks already Shock
He is a cutie pie! shame they can't stay that way sometimes

ds is pissing me off. the lack of inner monologue is grating on my nerves a lot atm. And it should now be bedtime but he is pissing about and we will end up falling out. Apparently I am being unreasonable to suggest that technology shouldn't go with him to the toilet Angry

ToffeeWhirl · 01/02/2015 20:26

Laughing at the 'lack of inner monologue', Bitchy. We are always telling DS2 to keep his thoughts to himself, but no, he has to give us a constant, running commentary - argh!

DS1 is in a state over one of the cats breaking into his room: found him curled up on the floor, trembling. Am running him a hot bath and have shut the cat away. For some reason, this particular cat is obsessed with getting into DS1's bedroom.

Swanhildapirouetting · 01/02/2015 20:34

Out of town today - spent lovely day visiting one of my bookclub members in Home counties with a group of others. Also found my way there by public transport which is always quite exciting (to see fabled lands I mean - in this case Reading and W....gfd...) Book good, lunch delicious and feel extraordinarily relaxed for having spent entire day away from my family Blush

Dh has had a good day too with the kids.
Ds1 has been to Mass.
Dd I think may just may be tidying her room but I doubt it will ever happen.

No flying done unless you count noticing that there is a leak in the ceiling under the bathroom Shock Our solution has been to put a big notice on the bath saying Do Not Use Blush Luckily we have another shower.

Whoknows I feel the spring is coming - I feel it in my bones, hurrah for successful sleepover.

BitchyTakesOnManagement · 01/02/2015 20:49

"oh my god, where did that come from. Wtf why. die die die die, shiiit. Arghhh. Whoo hoo I'm the boss" type comments for 2 hours straight in the car. It is enough to drive a girl to banning technology from the car again. Stupid thing is that if he puts his head phones on he doesn't do this very much. but will he put the head phones on? Oh no. that would be too simple

Toffee - it is really annoying when you can't escape from it isn't it. How ds is not in more trouble at school for talking I would love to know. Because apparently he does this in school too Hmm His poor teacher Wine

I have a list of over 30 things that needs to get done before tuesday afternoon. I have no idea how. Hmm But just to warn you I will either disappear or be in the world of scary list posting again. Sorry

Carpe there are fledglings in the part of the world yes. I believe was spoke of this last time. Good luck with the move prepping.

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeGoes · 01/02/2015 22:01

Toffee / Bitchy - I have a "commentator" too, in fact that's what he wants to be when he grows up, a sports commentator. Drives me mad especially when he's doing his Murray Walker impersonation.

Bless - well done to DD!

MrsMook - glad to hear the laundry situation has improved.

Engels - aww, he is gorgeous.

Swan - I find weekend time away from the family quite rejuvenating too.

Whispers - hope the appointment goes well.

Waves to everyone else.

Well, the boys didn't wake us up till about 7.30 this morning, they all played computer games and ate cereal till about 10 when I got them to all get dressed and they were off at 10.30. DS was feeling a bit flat, but we got out a present we had held back specially, which was a dartboard (he's only had a magnetic one previously) - he was chuffed to bits and has been playing it all afternoon. I nipped out to the garden centre by myself for an hour, bought an incubator for the windowsill (hopefully cat proof), seed potatoes and onion sets. Hoping to finally get started back at the allotment this week.

Links for tomorrow in a minute.

I was so disappointed Murray didn't win Goth and he looked so good at times. Djokovic just seemed to have the edge mentally somehow.

Waves to Shannara Carpe Saymwa and everyone else!!

Slingclutter · 02/02/2015 08:09

Bitchy that should have read "commentator" of course!

Slingclutter · 02/02/2015 08:10

An "ommentator" sounds like something out of Harry Potter Confused

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeGoes · 02/02/2015 09:00

SC has reminded me, Valentine's, I must show you what I've bought for DH. We don't go in for the slushy romantic stuff, and obviously want to avoid unecessary clutter, I found this in Sansburys on Sat.
