April's Fledgling Fliers: there's no fooling the Fat Fairy this month.

elliepac · 31/03/2014 16:27

In a blatant steal from last month's thread:

So here we are, April already.

So for those who don't know the fledglings is a long running thread. Some of us seem clicky but that is because we have been chatting on these threads for nearly half a decade makes everyone feel old we quite like fresh blood though so feel free to jump in and join us.

Three key points to keep in mind:
(1)No perfectionism allowed - this is harder than you would imagine
(2)You are never behind just start where you are and anything you do is progress.
(3) It didn't get into a mess overnight, it won't get tidy over night - accept it will take time to get on top of things and you will be happier.

If you are new then trying to spend 15mins decluttering and the babysteps is the most. Some of us Bitchy can have scary looking lists. One word of advice ignore them. Do what you can, anything is better then nothing, and don't judge yourself against others

Hi- for those that use fairy for washing, it is on offer right now on amazon. We've just ordered some so thought I would share the bargain around: Fairy Non Bio Laundry Liquitabs for Sensitive Skin 10 Washes (Pack of 6) £15 on amazon- (60 washes for £15) and free delivery.

AliceDoesntLiveHereAnymore · 14/04/2014 17:22

We had a lovely day out today at a place that had birds, deer, donkeys, goats, and fish. The DCs were able to hand feed loads of animals and were so excited that they could hand feed deer and pet them. Nice sunny day to have our picnic too! Couldn't ask for a better day.

Another day out exploring nature tomorrow, although we'll probably eat lunch at the restaurant at the place we're going tomorrow as I'm feeling a bit lazy. Grin And then Wednesday we're going with friends to a local farm.

Not much done today as far as housework, but I'll do a bit of tidying up and perhaps a load of laundry tonight, to ease the guilt. Grin

CallingAllEngels · 14/04/2014 17:58

Ta da
dinner
washing up
2x washing done, dried, away
checked and emailed re concert
changed outside bin and kitchen bin
hoovered
started photo album - quarter of the way through
tidied entrance hall - bought 2 baskets at supermarket earlier for mine and ds's gloves, umbrellas, hats etc
laid out clothes for tomorrow
played around with dh's guitar and realised I do remember how to play - Was belting out tracey chapman this morning!

to do

run
either ironing or photo album in front of the tv (we're watching the musketeers...a bit behind!)

slackcabbage · 14/04/2014 18:26

ohhhh bumwhackers ... Grin

DD has now gone down with flu too - pale and wan, flat out on the sofa. Inevitable really I 'spose. So we are confined to isolation barracks (away from fragile fil and anyone who is in contact with him) listening to 'Anne of Green Gables' audio CD (the only one we brought with us) on loop and playing hang man. Dh still ill but pretending he isn't.

[sidles off humming 'things can only get better' in forlorn but purposeful manner Grin ]

At least I have commandered laptop and can get back to Mnsetting!! Grin

Hope you are all having a more relaxing time although looking at your impressive lists, perhaps' relaxing' isn't the correct term ...

AliceDoesntLiveHereAnymore · 14/04/2014 18:29

Alright. I've done the washing up from supper, tidied up the kitchen and living room, and a load of laundry is washing. I can feel the guilt washing away now..... Grin

AliceDoesntLiveHereAnymore · 14/04/2014 18:31

SC so sorry you're dealing with illness, when you should be playing and relaxing!! Hope everyone is feeling better soon.

My list isn't "impressive" at all, if that helps. We haven't actually gone on holiday, but this week is "holiday week" at our house - I scheduled all our day trips this week (as last week we were getting over the lurgy at our house!!). So it's "sort of" a holiday. Grin

MercuryRising · 14/04/2014 20:03

Oh no SC you are having a rotten time of it at the moment! I hope dd feels better soon.

I have had a reasonably productive day. Dcs to holiday club and I went to the library to work on my masters assignment. I need to continue working on it this evening as it is due in a week tomorrow and I still have lots to do Sad

Ta da
Two washloads done and hung out
Small pile of ironing
Beds made
Dinner cooked
Downstairs hoovered (dp)
Cleaner run through dw
Pjs folded and put away
Dc bathed, hairs washed and put to bed.

Im going to watch Eastenders and then start writing my reference list. Big wing flaps to you all. Bbl

newlark · 14/04/2014 21:23

And to add to my list I have just foolishly and impulsively signed up to a beginners jogging course starting in two weeks. Eek. Good job I didn't declutter all the running kit I haven't worn for over 8 years.

MercuryRising · 14/04/2014 21:32

That sounds great newlark I would love to start running, but never seem to make time to commit to it. You will have to keep us updated on your progress.

BlueEyeshadow · 14/04/2014 23:00

Oh dear, get well soon to your DD, SC.

We've had a lovely day out enjoying the sunshine on the beach. Tried to join in a fossil walk but wasn't exciting enough for the boys & they soon got bored. Was also chuffing cold in the wind! Then had to deal with trauma of washing salty, sandy hair...

As for flying - got 2 loads of musty sheets through the machine and most are OK now. Everything else still to do, but will have to wait till Wed when boys are out of the house!

Oh, and must dash and put the breadmaker on for the morning. Night all!

dizzyday07 · 15/04/2014 01:06

Updated Ta Da

  • Laundry load in and hung out to dry
  • Played online scrabble with DD
  • Menus planned and food bought for the week
  • Unloaded D/W
  • Re-potted my veg seedlings
  • Dragged plastic greenhouse out of garage for said seedlings
  • Washed pots and shined sink (I do so wish sometimes DH would do this but I suppose ! should be grateful he wiped down the cooker top after he made dinner even though he missed a huge splodge of tomatoes next to it !!!)
  • Emptied kitchen bin
  • Spent HOURS with a pin trying to prise the tip of a headphone jack that DD broke off inside her tablet - but thank goodness I was successful [phew!]

DD and I are off to LEGOLAND tomorrow as I have a half price voucher and the first thing we are doing is going to the LegoWorld that we missed when we went with BIL and his hoard of kids. Grin

elliepac · 15/04/2014 08:13

Morning all Smile.

Your babystep for today is making your bed.

Your mission for today is here

Today is planning day

And a reminder that we are in the Bathroom.

Have a good day everyone!

OP posts:
elliepac · 15/04/2014 08:23

What have we all been up to?

dizzy had a productive day yesterday and is planning on a visit to Legoland today. Have a lovely day Smile.

blue had a cold time on the beach. Me too. It was fecking freezing. Yet walk 500m inland and it was much warmer. Bastards.

newlark is going to start running. For this we applaud her.

mercury had a productive day and is focusing on finishing her Masters assignment. Good Luck!

alice is having a holiday week which sounds lovely and a perfect excuse to get out of the flying Grin.

sc now has a poorly DD to add to her woes but it gives her more time to mnet. Every cloud has a silver lining and all that. Hope the family are feeling better today.

elliepac froze on a beach, lost at crazy golf to DS, ate her own weight in cake and drank her own weight in wine whilst catching up with old uni friend and her DC's. Successful day...sort of Grin.

Today the sun is shining and the mother is joining us at the caravan. Every silver lining has a cloud WinkGrin. I love my mother dearly but when she is here she insists on planning days with military precision which is far from my take the day as it comes philosophy. Nevermind, onwards and upwards.

Back later.

OP posts:
newlark · 15/04/2014 08:57

That sounds like a good day elliepac - well, the catching up with friends, wine and cake bit! Enjoy Legoland dizzy - we went for the first time last summer and dcs are begging to go again so have been collecting vouchers ready for the next INSET day (though no doubt everyone else with an INSET day will have the same idea). Good luck with your assignment mercury

My plan for today is ds swimming lesson, a few errands in town and one load of laundry which is fairly under control at the moment. Dd has embraced the idea of the daily mission and has helped me put some things away this morning!

My jogging course starts in two weeks (though I will try to get out on my own beforehand a few times to see just how unfit I am) - it is a local ladies running group and it starts at 9.15 after school drop off so won't take too much out of the day (at least that is if I don't stay for coffee and cake at the park cafe afterwards Grin)

BitchyVstheUFOs · 15/04/2014 10:09

And in prep for the early to bed babystep I crashed out at 8:30pm last night. Woke up with a horribly scratchy throat and ear ache. So not overly impressed. But it does explain why i felt so yucky yesterday.

So far today the ta da list is short:
Ds to take all his abandoned plates and rubbish out of lounge
DW loaded

About to go grab a shower and then deal with stinky kit At some point I need to convince ds that he is tidying his room and that he does want to get dressed. Hmm

MercuryRising · 15/04/2014 11:19

Im am just about to leave for the library, which is the last lace I want to be on this lovely sunny day Sad But on a positive note I am on track to have this assignment finished by Thursday Smile

Ta da
Beds made
Dw loaded and on
Washload done and on the line
Small pile of ironing done
Two pieces of artwork for assignment completed
Packed lunches made
Dc up, dressed, fed and dropped at holiday club

To do before library:
Toilet cleaner put down toilet
Dogs washed blanket hung out on airer

Have a good day fellow fledglings. Im hoping to bbl and report progress.

slackcabbage · 15/04/2014 11:45

Hello, just checking in via rather dodgy Internet access, again thanks for lovely words of support

DD a bit brighter this morning: so far have read Edward Lear poems from Internet, tried to write limericks, and played more hangman

Ellie very good of you to post links when on holiday! Hope you are not overdoing it and having a lovely restful time! (Can you plead 'necessary recuperation' when your ma suggests scheduled day?)

Mercury best of luck with your Masters assignment; hats off - you are v. self disciplined and organised

Hope you are ok Bitchy

Newlark good luck with the jogging and very impressed by your dd doing a daily mission

Dizzy yes, wierd how blokes have selective hearing and vision isn't it? Hope you and dd enjoy Legoland!

Blue love the sound of fossil walk + newly baked bread!

And Alice your day at the nature park sounds fab too!

Tracy Engels gosh, the decluttering must be going really well if you are at the photo album stage - v. impressed. [SC thinks despairingly of boxes and boxes of unsorted photos in roof]

Slightly more cheery feathery flaps than yesterday to Toffee Peanut Just¨Honu and everyone else!

BlueEyeshadow · 15/04/2014 15:52

Woohoo! Have achieved something: Sorted out airing cupboard!

This means:
Chucked mouldy stuff (gross)
Donated old "emergency" sheets etc to boys for den building
Found new home for swimming towels
Got vac pack bags for rarely used/guest bedding
Learnt how to fold fitted sheets - thanks MN!
Applied MN tip of storing bedding sets in pillow cases
Separated sheets from towels

And Ta-DA! no teetering pile of doom. Can see where everything is.

Ridiculous how pleased this makes me... Grin

BitchyVstheUFOs · 15/04/2014 17:16

ta da
eat own body weight in chocolate
not kill ds who is being very 9 Hmm
Get ds to play in his room by sending him in there to tidy HmmGrin

About to go see a friend who is kindly lending me the dog to wear ds out. She is bloody brilliant imo.

elliepac · 16/04/2014 08:54

Morning all Smile. Another quiet day chez fledglings yesterday. I can only assume that we are all enjoying the Easter holiday sunshine!

Your babystep for today is reading an email. Therefore an entirely superfluous babystep in my honest opinion Wink.

Your mission for today is here.

Today is the old favourite Anti-Procrastination Day.

Have a good day everyone!

OP posts:
PeanutPatty · 16/04/2014 08:58

Bitchy I do love your updates. Can relate to the not killing small children tho mine are considerably younger than yours and playing in a bedroom unsupervised leads to complete carnage and, some would say, WW3.

Slack pleased to hear everyone is heading back to healthyville.

Blue I have complete airing cupboard envy. Mine has been in my to do list for ages and I never get round to it. One day. One day.

MrPP has put away my two piles of ironing. He's not ironed the. He's put them away. Think he was sick of tripping over looking at them.

Ta Da's
Mutts walked
Got to supermarket for opening as ran out of nappies Blush
Breakfasted whilst minis in front of tv
MrPP got the minis up, washed and dressed

To do
Mutt2 to vets
Feed dogs on return
Dry dishes away
Tackle MrPP's kitchen hotspots which basically translates to "putting his shit in a bag and stashing it out of sight"
Inspect and repair the chaos upstairs that MrPP will have left after getting the minis ready
Take minis out and run them ragged - might do National Trust
Put a laundry load on and on the line but TD the towels

Have a great day Flyers. Might be a sunny one!

elliepac · 16/04/2014 09:01

So a quick round-up for yesterday looks like this:-

bitchy has a DS who is being very 9. My favourite sentence from the whole day. I have a DS who is being very 10. It doesn't get any better Grin.

blue no longer has a teetering pile of doom. This makes her inordinately happy and therefore we are inordinately happy for her. If it makes you feel better my whole house is a teetering pile of doom Grin.

sc popped by in a slightly cheerier fettle with DD beginning to perk up a little. This also makes us happy. NB: promise I am taking it easy but am working up to being back at work next week so just upping activity levels slowly.

mercury is on it with her assignment. Nearly there!

newlark is in control of her laundry. She made no fanfare of this achievement but I think it deserves one!

elliepac had a relaxing day doing nothing. Result.

Farm day today. Friend's daughter is ill, so we're off on our own, but it looks to be a fun day. Just getting directions from google map and we'll be leaving shortly.

elliepac · 16/04/2014 10:07

Farm days must be catching. That's where we're heading today as well aliceGrin.
