April's Fledgling Fliers: there's no fooling the Fat Fairy this month.

In a blatant steal from last month's thread:

So here we are, April already.

So for those who don't know the fledglings is a long running thread. Some of us seem clicky but that is because we have been chatting on these threads for nearly half a decade makes everyone feel old we quite like fresh blood though so feel free to jump in and join us.

Three key points to keep in mind:
(1)No perfectionism allowed - this is harder than you would imagine
(2)You are never behind just start where you are and anything you do is progress.
(3) It didn't get into a mess overnight, it won't get tidy over night - accept it will take time to get on top of things and you will be happier.

If you are new then trying to spend 15mins decluttering and the babysteps is the most. Some of us Bitchy can have scary looking lists. One word of advice ignore them. Do what you can, anything is better then nothing, and don't judge yourself against others

PLan for today:
get shoulder put back into place Confused
be able to function
do something with ds
meeting
pack ds' kit for training
take him to training
get him into bath
wash and sort out stinky kit
bed.

Judging by the mountain at the bottom of the stairs I might also need to do some laundry. clearly it is going to take strong painkillers and a ton of coffee to achieve the function bit of today. catch ya later.

newlark · 16/04/2014 12:50

Enjoy the farm day those who are going! Good luck with your shoulder Bitchy - that sounds painful.

Yesterday's Ta Da list:
Ds swimming lesson
1 load laundry
Errands in town (bank, post office, few bits of shopping)
Dropped some of dd's old books to a friend in the year below.

Today so far:
Another ds swimming lesson (holiday crash course which means getting up and out of the house rather early)
Library craft activity
A little bit of marking which I really need to finish by the end of next week

About to have a go at today's mission and see if dd can help me find 27 things to take up to the charity shop later. I may be in control of laundry but am a long way from it on clutter, books and paperwork...

BitchyVstheUFOs · 16/04/2014 14:29

It is incredibly painful and highly frustrating. Not sure how I have managed to pop my shoulder in my sleep Confused

Ds has been fragile. Massive massive meltdown this morning. Which has been very loud and very shouty and we have both said things that perhaps we shouldn't have done. Air is now cleared and we are on much calmer cooperating kinda ground. Fingers crossed it stays that way.

ta da
find photo paper in loft
look for gullivers travellers - fail but find some more asterix books Grin
get ds sorted on his bedroom - 3 tubs of random lego sorted, laundry out. It's a start
Feed the child that could eat a horse, elephant and want half the rest of the zoo Hmm I sense another massively expensive growth spurt
get up and take huge amounts of pain killers in vain attempt to function
2nd load of washing on
books that were abandoned in lounge on newly created space on shelf in study
take my bed apart (after ds' knocked my coffee onto it)
Put spare duvet that has been lurking in lounge in ds' box into storage bag for loft
Mutter about there being ketchup on the other one so needs to go through wash first.
Start making up ds' kit
find paperwork for this afternoon's meeting
sort out recycling for going out

About to head to my meeting and then it will be all systems go...

dizzyday07 · 16/04/2014 18:51

DD and I got home from LEGOLAND yesterday about 8pm footsore and weary and a bit pink in the face (I am sure the FatFairy wouldn't have forgotten hats and sunscreen!) We had to queue for an hour to get in but the longest we waited inside for a ride was about half an hour. We had fun on the new rollercoaster (went on twice Grin) and got wet on the water rides at the end but overall it was a good day.

DH decided we would have a day away tomorrow to the Isle of White but it seems to have turned into 2 days and an overnight stay. Maybe I shouldn't have mentioned DD had swimming club Friday evening Hmm and his concession to me wanting to not be too late home as she has a gala Saturday was to bring the return ferry time forward an hour to 6.30pm!!!!!

So today's Ta Da's so far are:

  • Laundry load in and hung out to dry
  • Printed off gala info - and entered her for another 2
  • Ironed clothes we need for IofW trip
  • Dug out blankets, buckets, spades, boules etc from garage
  • DD to swim club

I'll BBL with evening list Easter Smile

AliceDoesntLiveHereAnymore · 16/04/2014 19:04

dizzy sounds like a busy but fun week for you!! I'd love to take the little ones to LEGOLAND, but I think we'd have to go during term time for DC1 to cope with the crowds.

Absolutely brilliant day today at the farm. Nice drive through the country to get there. DCs got to feed and pet loads of animals and play on loads of fun play set ups. Relaxing picnic lunch. More wandering around looking at animals and such. And then lovely drive home again. (and KFC for supper as I was too tired to cook at that point Grin)

In a slight nod to flying, I've done the washing up from this morning, tidied up the kitchen, and folded the clothes that I put on the rack to dry last night. I'll tidy up the front room as soon as the DCs are asleep.

Brew now, but I think Wine later.

Blueandwhitelover · 16/04/2014 19:09

Just coming in-I'm rubbish at the housekeeping lark.
DS2 and his girlfriend surprised us with a visit for two days so after we got the phone call to say they were on the way, we did the 'guests coming ten minute blitz'
They left earlier and to stop myself from weeping again I have washed my shower curtains. They were dreadful, this is probably why DS2's wonderful girlfriend doesn't shower at our house.
They were truly dreadful.
However, they are sparkling in their cleanliness as they flap on the line now thanks to looking at a zombie thread which said to put towels in with the wash to help it .

ToffeeWhirl · 16/04/2014 20:00

Back from our seaside holiday. Had a lovely time. DS1 managed the car journey with DH, so joined us for the last couple of days.

Arrived home yesterday morning, went to work with DH, then spent the entire evening doing a house bleugh and catching up with washing. Deliberately did not turn on the computer!

Had my first OU assignment back - 92% Shock! Can't stop smiling. I was so sure I'd done badly.

Feel full of renewed vigour after my break, so have been catching up with paperwork and phone calls. House feels very pokey and small and I want to chuck out all the clutter. Let's hope this feeling (and accompanying energy) lasts.

Not really caught up with the thread yet. Spotted that SC has been having a difficult time though - hope things improve, SC.

Sorry about your shoulder, Bitchy (owch).

Alice - glad you had a great day out.

newlark - don't think we've met? Welcome to the thread.

ellie - you are doing sterling work running this thread. Hope you had a great day out today.

dizzy - IOW is gorgeous. My DC still reminisce about a holiday we spent there staying in the house of one of the original fledglings. IOW is also the place where my DS1 persuaded me on the swinging ship in the theme park and I had to stop the ride Blush.

Full of bubbly wine, so need to stop writing now before I start spouting nonsense...

ToffeeWhirl · 16/04/2014 20:01

We have bunnies!

Easter Grin Easter Grin Easter Grin

daddykyller · 16/04/2014 20:10

£5 off aldi voucher in the sun newspaper today if anyone is interested (Does anyone mind receiving that sort of info here- is it the right place? Thought maybe saving money on your household shopping/cleaning is kind of related)

Just tell me to bog off if if this is not allowed and I'll stop cluttering up your thread :)

newlark · 16/04/2014 21:20

Hi Toffee - I joined the thread on Friday - am attempting to get on top of clutter and cleaning once and for all after long term dabbling with the fly lady system. I don't think I have stuck to anything long enough to form a habit!

We didn't manage our mission in the end - the dc's found a game I had bought in a charity shop called "very silly sentences" and there was much hilarity as it degenerated into just making the longest silly sentence you could with the words.

PeanutPatty · 17/04/2014 00:01

Choc bunnies Toffee?? Grin

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeGoes · 17/04/2014 00:17

We love the IOW too, have been there 5 times in the last 4 years for holidays / short breaks.

Toffee - well done on the assignment.

Sorry, not been posting much, trying to keep off the computer a bit. Been spending quite a bit of time at the allotment and catching up on odd DIY jobs the last couple of days. Not too much Flying, but th eplace isn't in too bad a state, we had a big blitz at the weekend and it's holding up quite well.

AliceDoesntLiveHereAnymore · 17/04/2014 00:23

Other than basic housekeeping, I plan on doing some more work on the garden and patio tomorrow, while the DCs are playing outside. Hopefully the weather will be cooperative. I cannot wait until it's all done and looks nice!

MercuryRising · 17/04/2014 07:06

Well done Toffee Grin
We love IOW too. It is beautiful.

I need to rediscover my mojo I came back from the library early after staring blankly at my laptop for two hoursSad I have 1000 words left to write and no idea what to say. Im going to work from home today and see if the sunshine will inspire me Hmm

To do
Finish essay
Submit subject reading (I did this last night as an escape from the essay!)
Beds
Washload and hang out
Dw
Hoover
Dust (didn't get done yesterday)
Fold and put away socks, pants, pjs etc

Right Im going to get on I will be back to procrastinate later.

BitchyVstheUFOs · 17/04/2014 10:54

Today I am not feeling the need to function. Ds actually told me to go back to sleep this morning when he came in to say good morning. And after 2 more hours and I am still struggling to even attempt to be awake. On top of the sore shoulder I have cracking earache. Hmm Just in time for easter closures of the gp.

Just drinking my first coffee of the say, the second is sat patiently by the kettle waiting for me to eat breakfast and move again. Although I have done the first sort of laundry. Lots to get done, including ds' bedding. Tempted to just take the strong pain killers and get going. but I suppose i need to go chase the gp. Hmm cba really but not sure if i can stomach four days of feeling like crap whilst they are shut.

Sorry give me a few more cups of coffee and i might be a bit more myself.

BitchyVstheUFOs · 17/04/2014 11:06

and two coffees later i need a plan.

Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm....

To do.
Don't kill ds for being very 9.
try to convince ds to work on his room
try to convince ds to put clothes on
try to convince ds to get in bath before I shove him outside and turn the freezing cold hose pipe on him
Laundry - wash, fold, iron, away
room rescue lounge
early night
try not to start an argument with the people
try not to agrivate shoulder
try not to sit in the corner and fall asleep/cry
fix book so it can go on bookshelf
internet admin stuff

Erm....

slackcabbage · 17/04/2014 11:15

Big wing flaps to SC

It is amazing how tidy my house can be when I am avoiding work.

Ta da so far:
Beds
Washload and hang out
Dw
Hoover
Fold and put away socks, pants, pjs etc
Written 600 very painful words

I was going to take a break and watch some TV but I started watching This Morning and remembered how truly rubbish daytime telly is so decided to MN whilst I wait for my lunch to cook instead.

Hope you are ok Bitchy

BBL

Once again apologies for the lateness of the posting and lack of round-up. We were up and out with the larks this morning to go rockpooling on a very cold Filey beach. Brought back loads of memories as my late DF was a biology teacher and used to take us to do exactly the same thing in exactly the same place when I was exactly the same age. Lovely.

Back later.

newlark · 17/04/2014 17:38

My lovely dh has taken the dcs out for the afternoon so I can get some marking done - very happy to be clearing some of it so it isn't all hanging over me all weekend (have allowed myself a quick mn break Easter Grin)
