Anybody want to join me in a mega, whole house declutter?

I am desperate to have a clean and tidy home. It's always ruined my life and I always feel very lonely, partly because I can never have anybody over without a week or so notice to clean up! I am fed up of being like this and want to make a change for good. I know that the biggest step is to declutter, as it will make it so much easier to keep tidy.

I have delcuttered lots of times before, and I then end up filling it up again! I don't want to do this again! I want this to be the last time!!

Anybody up for joining me?

I have already done my girls room (They share a small double and it was always so full that they couldn't ever have space to play in it!). It is so much easier now, I finished it about a week ago but have actually kept it tidy!

I am now moving onto my Son's room. It's a TEENY box room with just a cotbed and one chest of drawers in, no spare space and I have an extra baby to fit in their soon as we are expecting again. Baby will sleep in our room for as long as possible but no idea where the baby's clothes etc will go! So iv culled his clothes and now have 2 spare drawers, and got an under bed drawer now which I can use although not really space to pull it out!

Anyway, would anybody like to join me in my mission? We could support each other and keep each other going? I have also strarted looking into flylady and hope to use some bits from there, but not follow it fully as I like to do my own thing a bit.

Oh I also need to clear out the cupboard under the sink. I did open it and look in it but decided to close the door quickly instead!

Not done much the last few days as got a bad cold but have managed to sit and ebay some clothes from my wardrobe clearout so not completely wasted the time. Still got lots to put on ebay but was pleased as managed to get a little money already for a couple of unworn items.

Still got a set of storage baskets to go through and the cleaning cupboard. After that will have to move onto the loft...

Quickly went through heap of paperwork and receipts this morning and recycled lots.
Found I'm missing a bank statement - does it even matter if I can look online anyway I ask myself?
Need several days at home on my own to feel like I'm on top of things - will never happen though!

ChaffinchOfDoom · 06/05/2014 15:09

Hi

I need help with this too. DH is a bit of a hoarder too and we have boxes and boxes of junk. I haven't read the whole thread yet, will look back for tips.

ChaffinchOfDoom · 06/05/2014 20:16

have sorted out the pots in the garden. major awesome, whilst his maj. slept & sun shone.
moved strawberries and pansies.

avoiding sink cupboard even using gardening. 'tis sad.

pudseypie · 07/05/2014 10:23

Chaffinch I woke up this morning determined to tackle the cupboard under the sink. So far I've started cleaning the oven...
I will tackle it in between scrubbing the oven today.

JKSLtd · 07/05/2014 10:41

I tackled the bathroom cabinet this morning - it was filthy and overflowing.
Thrown out a load of stuff, tidied the rest, found stuff I'd forgotten about & refilled the shower dispenser.
Have cleaned the outside of it but ran it of time for the top.
And want to keep the top as clear as poss too.

Didn't manage anything else though and at work now, then swimming lesson then home.

Want to wrap DS1's presents tonight - sure I've got too much for him now!

JKSLtd · 08/05/2014 09:17

Wrapped and hid the presents last night.also bagged up a bag of boys and a bag of girls clothes to pass on tomorrow at playgroup.

ChaffinchOfDoom · 08/05/2014 10:37

it's so nice passing on clothes. loads of people gave me a tonne of clothes for ds3; it really means a lot to people as it saves so much money

ChaffinchOfDoom · 08/05/2014 10:39

he's def. in a clingy baby phase, even yells if I leave room to switch on kettle. I ....need......coffee......................... also got more wet washing to move somewhere & heavy rain happening outside

JKSLtd · 08/05/2014 13:37

Posted too soon as meeting started.
I've been passed on so many clothes for boys & girls so love passing it on even further.

I really want to get on with dh's office as it's a black hole but at work then sch runs.

JKSLtd · 08/05/2014 13:38

Clingy baby is not good. Good luck with coffee!

JKSLtd · 08/05/2014 18:55

Let kids have mcds for tea and tv after - bad parent!

But have finished the bathroom cabinet & cleared the top.

Am in the middle of dh's office but have to stop for DC bedtime. Big pile of stuff I hope dh will agree to getting rid of Grin

ChaffinchOfDoom · 08/05/2014 21:11

I dream of doing ''the attic'' now that is an epic task.... I bet there's 10 binbags of shite at least up there

if Im in the right frame of mind I'll dump the ruddy lot, xmas decs included!

however wont get a chance to go up there until the weeun is at nursery, probably Hmm

today only achieved hanging out the wet washing. baby def in a clingy phase. it's lucky he's so cute!

ChaffinchOfDoom · 08/05/2014 21:13

my dh is a total hoarder too. he completely saves everything and gets very grumpy when I chuck out. he also gets grumpy when I buy stuff. he is actually always rather grumpy.

JKSLtd · 09/05/2014 11:50

LolChaffinch. I think I'm the grumpy one in this house.

Passed on girls clothes but boy&mum weren't at playgroup so they're in the hall - may just give to Mil for her women's refuge as she's here tomorrow.

Right back to the office for 20mins...

JKSLtd · 09/05/2014 17:16

Dh's office now looking like a disaster zone!

JKSLtd · 09/05/2014 19:57

And I'm done!

Even managed to get him to go through piles and bin loads.

Now looking at lots of random CDs with photos on to see if anything worth keeping.

JKSLtd · 10/05/2014 15:45

Put lots of photos onto my laptop - which backs up onto a cloud thingie - so big pile of CDs to bin.

Going to try and watch our wedding video later - an unofficial one.

Pil here so just taking a moment to chill upstairs.

ChaffinchOfDoom · 10/05/2014 20:56

Didn't manage anything useful today.

Busymumto3dc · 11/05/2014 07:37

I didn't do anything since I first posted on here the other weekend and cleaned out two cupboards lol

BluebellTuesday · 11/05/2014 07:45

Can I join you? I am on a mission this summer to declutter house, attic, garage and my office. And do my garden, but that is mother matter. It feels slightly overwhelming, but needs to be done for my sanity.

Busymumto3dc · 11/05/2014 07:50

I tell a lie

Yesterday I cleaned out the cutlery draw

Now I feel better

JKSLtd · 11/05/2014 14:44

Well done Grin

We went to a charity train day and came home with:
4 x cuddly toys
1 puzzle
1 toy car.

Sigh.
