Mad Fledglings March through the Spring cleaning

BitchytheGreat · 28/02/2014 20:40

So here we are, March already.

So for those who don't know the fledglings is a long running thread. Some of us seem clicky but that is because we have been chatting on these threads for nearly half a decade makes everyone feel old we quite like fresh blood though so feel free to jump in and join us.

Three key points to keep in mind:
(1)No perfectionism allowed - this is harder than you would imagine
(2)You are never behind just start where you are and anything you do is progress.
(3) It didn't get into a mess overnight, it won't get tidy over night - accept it will take time to get on top of things and you will be happier.

If you are new then trying to spend 15mins decluttering and the babysteps is the most. Some of us Bitchy can have scary looking lists. One word of advice ignore them. Do what you can, anything is better then nothing, and don't judge yourself against others.

hi,

survived dd's party with ten 12 year olds.

Ds2 has not surprisingly found this weekend hard going, but he loved his birthday presents (including giant dalek). Lots of meltdowns Sat and Sun though, he just doesn't like the preparations for parties when they impinge on his life, although he likes parties. This morning was hit and miss because of Formula 1 meltdown, and homework he refused to do on Sunday, but in the end I forged his homework in order to make sure he went to school.

This morning I did money counting, and saw a friend for coffee by accident. Tutor is coming this afternoon for ds1. Dreading it, and hope ds won't run away or do his sullen rebellious expression..

Tomorrow is the passport signing for 3 kids appt with priest, and I am dreading that too, reams and reams of things to fill in and my birthcertificate contradicting my passport too...And dh has to come too, as legally he has to sign before witness that he is happy for them to have an Irish passport (presumably to prevent parents stealing children Sad

ellie Dh doesn't realise that you hang trousers upside down on the line, and shirts.

ToffeeWhirl · 17/03/2014 19:07

DS2 had his taster day today, which went really well. Head teacher is ringing us tomorrow to let us know if there's a place available for him yet. Am on tenterhooks.

Have been working and also trying to write the parental information bit for the statement application, hence not being present on this thread much. Hope to be able to catch up when things have quietened down here.

BitchytheGreat · 17/03/2014 19:53

Having a really really down day. Not great atm. I need a huge to do list and done list tomo. Sleeping is not happening and I really miss training. Like uber miss exercise and sore muscles. I even miss bruises and early starts. this is when you know it is bad.

Not done very much today. feeling incredibly flat tbh. So ta da is fairly pointless.

Swanhildapirouetting · 17/03/2014 20:33

Toffee glad taster went well Smile

tutor has survived meeting ds1 Wink at one point tutor suggested ds doing some homework for next meeting, and I just said NOOOOO, confine everything to the session. I must be the slackest mother ever Sad He seems nice, a burly teacher from a comp near here, with three small children of his own (not that he talked about them, just mentioned he didn't fancy tutoring on Sunday because of them)
We are starting with "angles" - I love them because they are magic...

ds2 has developed an obsessive tic with his left toe, which is driving us all mad, and him too - he has been a state this evening again, apart from a beatific I hour watching Dr Who with me. Dh is a saint to deal with him; he is putting him to bed now. History is done. Boils.

Now to find passport forms and try and fill something in, and find the birth certs, or at least acknowledge fact that I cannot locate them..and look harder..

Bitchy I think you need some sunshine. It is the only certain cure for feeling flat-itis, much better than getting things done, which sometimes fails to inspire and makes one think of how there is yet more to do

thinking101 · 17/03/2014 21:01

you must go out bitchy it is the only thing that seems to help me.

wish I had a 'look' instead I have a voice Hmm

sorted a bit of bedroom out.
laundry x 3 done and hung
Actually cooked a square meal, just spag bol, but better than offerings recently.
Hoovered all through the bedrooms

Tomorrow I must get out to playgroup
Clean bathrooms in PM

BitchytheGreat · 17/03/2014 21:11

I have a voice too thinking. I can scare strangers Hmm Ah the joys of the teacher voice.

I wish getting out is the solution, but it isn't. Patience is the answer, and rest. I am shit at both of these. which is where the problems lie

OP posts:
thinking101 · 17/03/2014 21:18

im an ex secondary school teacher...pleased to be out. this is why im studying now.

Well you must have a list that includes rest, and resting while doing things sitting down.

BitchytheGreat · 17/03/2014 21:39

Yeah, i do. but my definition of rest is a bit screwed up. Blush

OP posts:
BlueEyeshadow · 17/03/2014 21:44

Evening all.

Been a bit of an odd day here - mixture of fun, stress and frustration. Visiting friends, computer troubles, and one thing and another. DS2 had one of his nursery friends round - which was nice, but they got EVERYTHING out... Then had to find the floor for DS1's godfather visiting this evening...

Still, he brought takeaway so didn't have to cook. :)

DH might just have got the computer working again though, so that's something.

Did do the mission this morning and chucked a lot of stuff from my dressing table.

Hope Bitchy and ellie are both managing to rest. I get a bit stabby when DH hangs the washing out all wrong too! Grin

BitchytheGreat · 17/03/2014 22:11

I don't get stabby. I just go rehang it! Ds had a meltdown because the tv schedule and the actual program being shown weren't the same. It was wrong. So so wrong. Hmm thank god he is now in bed and i am trying to declutter fb but ended up having a chat with a friend and several hours later we are still talking HmmGrin Ah well. least i am in a slightly better mood

DD had the day off school and spent it on the couch under a blanket watching DVDs whilst I loaded her up with painkillers every couple of hours. I have looked down her throat with a torch and her tonsils are HUGE but not spotty (at least at the minute). Will see how she sleeps and decide whether she wants to go in tomorrow. She is due to complete the Swimathon on Friday so hope she makes a speedy recovery as otherwise she will be gutted to miss it.

Ta Da

  • Medicated child
  • Watched DVDs!
  • Emptied kitchen bin and recycling
  • Planned meals for the week (DH now buggered tomorrow up as he is out with work colleague!)
  • Made tea
  • Washed pots and shined sink
  • Loaded and put on D/W
PeanutPatty · 18/03/2014 08:27

I've fallen off the wagon.

Clean laundry in a pile in our room. Laundry bin overflowing. Airer covered in dry laundry in the middle of the kitchen. Toys all over the floor in MiniPP1 room. Bathroom needs scrubbing. Hotspots in kitchen. Floors need hoovering and mopping AGAIN. Our bedding needs washing. Everywhere needs dusting. Blinds needs wiping down which is a massive job.

ToffeeWhirl · 18/03/2014 08:47

Sympathies, Peanut. Try using the power of three, ie. just pick the three main things that need doing and focus on those. Or work in 15-minute blocks. Breaking it down helps.

DS2 miserable about going back to his current school today, so I've said he can wait for the phone call from the new school at home with me. We are going to tuck ourselves up in bed and finish reading 'The Railway Children'.

Not sure what to tell the school about DS2's absence today, but I don't have the energy to make him go in (all used up on DS1) - and, frankly, don't see why he should.

ta das so far

Up and dressed; hair washed
Brew
Put washing on
Unload d/w and reload
Put washing up on rack away
Make pancakes for DS2's breakfast
Eat last pancake myself and sod the diet
