Mad Fledglings March through the Spring cleaning

BitchytheGreat · 28/02/2014 20:40

So here we are, March already.

So for those who don't know the fledglings is a long running thread. Some of us seem clicky but that is because we have been chatting on these threads for nearly half a decade makes everyone feel old we quite like fresh blood though so feel free to jump in and join us.

Three key points to keep in mind:
(1)No perfectionism allowed - this is harder than you would imagine
(2)You are never behind just start where you are and anything you do is progress.
(3) It didn't get into a mess overnight, it won't get tidy over night - accept it will take time to get on top of things and you will be happier.

If you are new then trying to spend 15mins decluttering and the babysteps is the most. Some of us Bitchy can have scary looking lists. One word of advice ignore them. Do what you can, anything is better then nothing, and don't judge yourself against others.

Eustacia well you have done tomo's daily focus Grin well done you are ahead of yourself Grin

Meeting with professionals that is productive? Hahahahaha in which alternate universe would that be. We have been discharged without anyone doing anything. They have decided we need that word on the right bit of paper otherwise they are not doing anything. Funding reallocation! Sods fucking law.

The report writing is long, exhausting and exhaustive. But will hopefully help me bring ds' dad up to date with what is going on and means it is all the info just there for the next round of doing stuff with people.

Done more stuff, tired. Want my bed. Is it bedtime yet?

ToffeeWhirl · 14/03/2014 00:53

Yeah, Bitchy, I should have put a Hmm icon after my sentence (hoping the meeting was productive).

BlueEyes - I read your latest blog post. That is so shocking. Best of luck with your continuing battle.

Eustacia - yes, Spring is here at last Smile. So lovely to have sun, not rain

BitchytheGreat · 14/03/2014 00:59

i have sun Envy we had mist all day. still working on this report. although got side tracked in you tube looking at marble runs of various types. Got an idea for something. But it needs some figuring out. Wasn't what i should have been doing though. Hmm early night was actually on the to do list and yet some how it is nearly 1am and i am suffering from sugar overload. I need to book a day of doing fuck all and actually manage to do fuck all.

A sweet fa day is a good thing every now and again bitchy Smile

ToffeeWhirl · 14/03/2014 08:31

Lovely to come down to a tidy kitchen this morning, though I have done my best to mess it up again now.

Yes to a day of doing FA, Bitchy Smile.

DS2 is whinging because he has PE today, which he hates. However, he also has his absolutely favourite teacher, so there is no reason for him not to go in today and I'm not being very sympathetic. He complained that it would be cold - yet he gets to wear warm tracksuit bottoms and sweatshirt, whereas I had to shiver on fields in a short skirt when I was a girl!

to do

School run
Meet friend for tea and chat
To work
Meet friend for lunch and chat
School run again

PeanutPatty · 14/03/2014 09:03

Toffee I want your day please! Grin

BitchytheGreat · 14/03/2014 09:20

I'll stick to my day. In honor of world sleep day I am going back to bed. see you for the school run later when there will be crazy running around to ensure everything needed for ds' trip to his dad's is sorted and then to get him there.

To do
Sleep.
pack ds
long drive

Anything else is a sign of too much coffee and stubborness. HmmGrin

EustaciaVye · 14/03/2014 11:58

Have had a productive morning.
Post office.
Returns to Next.
M&S for nice meal for DH toniight.
Mothercare for friend's new baby gift.
Hoovered downstairs.
Cleaned inside of car.
Caught up on Neighbours Grin

Still need to go off and clear kitchen wide, then off for lunch with friends. Kids have opticians after school - must remember.

A nice day which makes me grateful I work part-time. :)

sanschocolat · 14/03/2014 12:20

Good morning my lovelies!

For once may have completed long lists on Wed and yesterday morning to rival that of our esteemed leader's, but big fail yesterday afternoon. Went to second child psych appt on behalf of dd with dh at lunch time (last 'parents only' preparatory meeting) and felt so completely drained afterwards that I was only vaguely capable of staying upright, never mind doing anything productive ... had fortunately prepped supper in advance .Meeting went well though so that's positive.

Rushing to get everything done this morning so that I can watch the Gold Cup without feeling guilty this afternoon Grin!! (Just hope all the jockeys and horses come back safely.)

Another lovely day here (this weather is amazing) but horrible pollution in some bits of town caused by smog. It's so bad that the powers that be have laid on free buses for commuters coming from some out of town areas, in order to get the pollution levels down Sad. I can't wait for the Easter holidays and to get back to green fields again!!

Dizzy speaking of green things, has the polythene made any difference re: germination? I know it's different because you are growing veg outside, but am trying to germinate seeds which I have resting on various warm/bright window sills inside. They were planted at least two weeks ago. Whole tray of basil plants have germinated. But no sign of life from nicotinia/lobelia trays. Any idea what I am doing wrong? (They are covered in plastic also, have loads of light and temp has been consistently warm.)

Snooze well Bitchy!

Merry Very impressed by combination of 'cheese making' and 'sky diving' !! Grin

Hope you are recovering well Ellie

More power to your elbow with all the 'gulp-worthy' stuff you have to get through Just

Hope you managed to persuade ds2 to attend his PE lesson this morning Tofeee and great (from down thread) that ds1 managed to spend some time at LC. And that the visit to his new prospective school was so positive. Fingers and toes and everything else crossed for both schools for both boys!

So sorry to hear your latest news about school Blue That must be do disappointing for everyone after you campaigned so hard. Am woefully ignorant about UK education system; had no idea that 'Academy-ship' could be imposed from on high ... .

Murder Same probs here! Ceilings 4m high! Makes cob-web removal and getting curtains up and down a major job. I am sure that one of the baby-steps (or is it one of the missions?) gives advice about buying plastic plumbing pipes and sticking brushes to the end of them with duct tape. I've had a look around the Flylady site but I can't find it at the moment! Will get back to you if/when I do! Other than that, tend to order long-poled cleaning systems from Lakeland although mine are all a bit mismatched/broken atm. Must renew. The spring sunshine is starting to show up all the grubby bits!! Love the sound of Just's solution though and very interested in Bitchy's link!

Waves to Peanut Eustacia Swan Feetheart Thinking Honu Whoknows Silly Castle Blueandwhite Goth Mercury and everyone else I've inevitably missed

Had so many work interruptions this morning that it has taken me about two and a half hours to complete this post so it will probably be all out of date again by the time I press send Grin

Must go though and finish off a few things - was it you Blue down thread who said you wanted to be a bit more accountable on here? Must follow that advice.

In the meantime, Channel 4 racing channel beckons Grin

Have a great w/e everybody!

Neeeeiiiigggghhhhhhhhhhh!!! [Cue squeals of excitement and thundering hoof noises] Grin

thinking101 · 14/03/2014 16:50

thanks - I am still here lurking about. I have been out lots this week to save my sanity, consequently the house is no better off!

Swanhildapirouetting · 14/03/2014 17:13

done
lots of gardening, and now I've mud under my fingernails. Garden still has that minging look before Spring properly happens, all sort of stunted and frostbitten..Confused Lawn is a mudbath.

tonight we are going to a restaurant yippee, not been out for many years to one of those without children

cleaning lady has tidied the house - I'm afraid I spent the morning talking to a friend, however it gave me the strength to garden this afternoon!

Maths tutor has rung to arrange an assessment for ds1 on Monday.

All ten of dd's friends are going to lunch on Sunday. Help.Sad I thought at least three of them wouldn't come at such short notice, and so far away too Hmm They are not actually scheduled to do anything except chat so I can forsee lots of shrieking. Must grit my teeth and try to enjoy.

Toffee I am endlessly surprised by how much my children enjoy PE, as I hated it and spent lots of time trying to get away from the ball.

GoingGoingGoth · 14/03/2014 21:08

It's back to overcast here and threatening rain tomorrow.

Blue saw your blog - arse. The education system is fucked up. I hope something can be sorted.

Toffee good news re DS2

Murder tall ceilings here too I just don't look up get DH to stand on table with Henry and long hose to clear cobwebs. (Now that sounds a bit Hmm)

Done

Packed lunch

Helping Hands at school -lots of stick back plastic today
Lunch

Collect Dd
Made shepherds pie, flapjacks & mince pies

Evening all.

Thanks for support re school. We have a very strong case so should win if it goes to court but it's all so pointless and infuriating!

SC, yes, it was me talking about accountability. In the spirit of which, I ticked off all my challenges this week. Yay! Rewarded myself with Wine as per Toffee's excellent suggestion. Wink Now to build it up slightly next week. (and not totally slack off over the weekend!)

Sanity more important than house, thinking!

Good luck for the party, swan.

Sorry to have been AWOL again, I have had a very full-on week with my OU studies (3 assignments completed this week, one to go next week then I'm finished till October) and DS's statement application stuff which has involved endless amounts of paperwork, talking to people and internet surfing too.

In between I have been having mixed success with my Lent resolution to stay away from the Most Active button, I have definitely been on less and have at some point every day walked away from the computer picked up an e-cloth and done some detailed cleaning. I have also planted some seeds for the allotment in my little greenhouse

Busy weekend in store, DH and DS are going to be up at some unearthly hour to watch the F1 and qualifying, they'd better not wake me up, then DS has hockey practice tomorrow and a match on Sunday, plus we are going to an ice hockey game tomorrow night.

Night all.
