Is June the new January? - the Fledgling Flyers are doing their flaming best

Welcome old and new fledglings to the June Fledgling FLYers thread! Smile

Thank you very much to castlelough for leading us expertly through May - I shall try not to be too haphazard with June, although I make no promises Wink

If you're overwhelmed by clutter and general household grub then join us as we (loosely) follow the step-by-step Flylady housekeeping system or languish in the naughty corner hoping to do better tomorrow Grin

As usual, we will be following the Flylady three-pronged approach:

  1. Baby-steps (a daily step to establish routines)
  2. Then baby-steps + 15 mins daily decluttering
  3. (And once decluttered) babysteps + daily missions and maybe even detailed cleaning in the weekly zones

For more information have a look here, although to avoid a cluttered inbox, we advise not signing up to the Flylady emails. The basic principle is little and often and don't worry about perfection (no chance of that here!).

Don't worry if you are behind; just jump right back in and it will all come around next month again anyway!

All the links for the babysteps and missions will be posted here every day and we'll all be here to cheer each other on and chat our way through the month.

Glad your ds is OK Ellie and nothing broken, treble ouch though (can't have been pleasant in A &E in this weather either) You certainly deserve a stress-free evening.

Good for you and the much needed retail therapy Whoknows! Glad you got some time to yourself too. Yes, can touch type. Did one-year post-grad course meant for PAs after uni with intention of working in publishing. Learnt shorthand too!! It was so old-fashioned that we used electronic typewriters and actually learnt to type to music!! (Showing my age here Grin) Think it was very last course of its kind to exist!! Taught by terrifying Yorkshire woman whose name I forget, but she regarded us all as useless good-for-nothing wastrel intellectuals who needed some sense knocking in to us which was probably true as it happens - she didn't speak - she just barked. Anyway, am eternally grateful to her because can now type really fast with my eyes closed, or like now, when light is so dim that I can't actually see keyboard! Reckon you could become really proficient in around 6 mths if you practice really regularly. Good luck with it!

Well done re: your mega lists Bitchy and Lilleth and to Asheth for definitely not procrastinating!!

Hope you found phone Bitchy

Swan hideous list of forbidden food to declare here today, horrifying even by my standards too scared to add up calories on MFP Really can't eat fried egg sandwiches for brkfast, pizza for lunch, ice cream in the afternoon and pasta for dinner and delude myself that I am on a diet Blush I didn't prepare any of them but that is no excuse because I scoffed 'em just the same Blush Sorry to hear your dd is still full of cold. Hope you got through the rest of your list OK and can catch up on sleep tonight.

[reaches for vodka bottle]

Waves to everyone else! G'night!

Well after an afternoon of total CBA-ness I have spent a couple of hours tidying and gardening tonight, was much easier once the heat died down.

Ellie - sorry to hear about DS, that sounds very painful.

Very tired now

BlueEyeshadow · 19/06/2013 21:43

Have I missed the party?

WhoKnows - I can't touch type properly, but I don't look at the keys most of the time when I'm typing. I type so much for work (and also socialising and relaxing MNing ) that it's kind of gone in by osmosis. I'd probably be a whole lot faster if I'd learnt it properly though.

Have been very CBA today too, although sitting around and reading was actually work. I've been to Zumba tonight so I'm allowed some extra calories, but I'm not sure that actually covers two large helpings of meat and potato pie and an Aldi version of a Magnum... Oops.

Hope DS's foot heals up quickly Ellie.

Bitchy - ouch, nothing worse than being patronised by one's offspring!

BlueEyeshadow · 19/06/2013 21:45

By the way, does anybody know whether it's worth paying the extra for the post office check & send service with passports?

CHBitchy · 19/06/2013 21:48

I always do and they tend to get returned quicker done through the check and send. They have saved me from stupid mistakes in the past which would have resulted in applications being sent back and thus delayed. Which reminds me:

Thursday's to do:
FIND Ds' Old passport
Find ds' passport application
Get application finished and ready to go for counter signing.

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeGoes · 19/06/2013 21:50

I always do too Blue - mine came back in 6 days using it this MArch, DH's came back in a fortnight about a month ago. They have saved me from silly mistakes in the past (they have also saved my friends when I have done the countersignature bit wrong Blush)

superfluouscurves · 19/06/2013 21:53

Meat and potato pie all the way Blue Wink

pushmepullyou · 19/06/2013 21:55

OK then - tonight's roundup.

Some people have cleaned.

Everyone is drunk

(including me)

hth!

Wink enjoy.

Right in an attempt to get back towards a small hint of flying I am off to bed for an early night. Until tomo...

ToffeeWhirl · 19/06/2013 22:14

Blue - I do that thing with passports too (hic).

DH and I have been drowning our sorrows. We are on our second bottle. He doesn't know I have been drinking the virtual stuff too.

The kitten has gone a bit crazy. I'm not sure if something is affecting his brain or if he is crazed from physical symptoms, but he is definitely not normal at the moment and it's exhausting. I think I may have to sleep downstairs with him tonight to keep an eye on him.

pushmepullyou · 19/06/2013 22:17

In other news I got up at 6 o'clock this morning and did The Shred - not nearly as bad as I remember it being so I must be getting fitter.

Have eaten way too much today though as went out for a business tea here, which is not conducive to low calorie eating. Did very well with sea bream as a main, but not so well with corned beef has as a starter Blush

Diet day tomorrow I think otherwise I'll spend the whole day eating rubbish train food (meeting in London at 11)

Very, very impressed by your 6am Shred, PMPY.

Here are the links for the 20th June

The babystep is to add laundary into your routines. This is definitely one of my most established babystep and it has made a massive difference to the state of my house.

Day 4, zone 4 and the mission is cleaning your bedside table (can't bring myself to call it a nightstand!)

The flight plan is here and the daily focus for Thursday is [http://www.flylady.net/d/daily-focus/daily-focus%20-thursday/ errand day]]. DH is taking the DC to the dentist. I am thinking of buying shoes Grin.

Can't think of anything new or exciting to say about water...

I too can touchtype after a 6 month course in my twenties at a place called Sight and Sound Grin. There were no corrections possible, unless you used tippex!. But the course was just the beginning really; I could type much faster once I had to work as a PA and got regular practice. I am typing this without looking at the keyboard at all, so it is possible, even for butterfingers like me. What I can't type at all is numbers, as I had no practice inputting any bookkeeping type material...

I'm afraid to say that it has led to a certain amount of easy waffle on Mumsnet as I really can type almost as fast as I can speak.

CHBitchy · 19/06/2013 22:31

Did you know the amount of water you should be drinking per day varies depending on your weight and if you drink an insufficient amount of water it hinders weight loss.

Drink your water.

CHBitchy · 19/06/2013 22:32
