Is June the new January? - the Fledgling Flyers are doing their flaming best

Welcome old and new fledglings to the June Fledgling FLYers thread! Smile

Thank you very much to castlelough for leading us expertly through May - I shall try not to be too haphazard with June, although I make no promises Wink

If you're overwhelmed by clutter and general household grub then join us as we (loosely) follow the step-by-step Flylady housekeeping system or languish in the naughty corner hoping to do better tomorrow Grin

As usual, we will be following the Flylady three-pronged approach:

  1. Baby-steps (a daily step to establish routines)
  2. Then baby-steps + 15 mins daily decluttering
  3. (And once decluttered) babysteps + daily missions and maybe even detailed cleaning in the weekly zones

For more information have a look here, although to avoid a cluttered inbox, we advise not signing up to the Flylady emails. The basic principle is little and often and don't worry about perfection (no chance of that here!).

Don't worry if you are behind; just jump right back in and it will all come around next month again anyway!

All the links for the babysteps and missions will be posted here every day and we'll all be here to cheer each other on and chat our way through the month.

I am not scary. I am luffsly.

GoingGoingGoth · 15/06/2013 16:27

Of course you are Bitchy

I have done FA today, it's been marvellous.

superfluouscurves · 15/06/2013 19:01

don't scupper the myth Bitchy Wink

ToffeeWhirl · 15/06/2013 19:36

SC - yep, funnily enough, liver problems are one of the things the vet is considering with ToffeeKitten. The only thing that will show that is a blood test, but it will cost £100 and insurance won't cover it if we do it now. If I wait for further symptoms and then take him back, I should get the whole fee paid by insurance. The vet said waiting will make no difference to the kitten's welfare - I checked. This kitten is such a worry!

Had a lovely time out with DH today. After lots of grand plans, we decided to just pop round to our local for lunch, then go for a walk. Threw my diet out of the window by sharing a bottle of Prosecco and having a pudding Blush. It was so nice to talk without little people interrupting us all the time.

Like Goth, I have done FA Flying today. Came home from our walk and promptly fell asleep on the sofa with the kitten.

Doris - glad you managed to get some time to yourself in the park and had a successful shopping trip. Two pairs of shoes and my slippers have disintegrated in the past week, but at least it gives me the excuse to go shoe shopping Grin.

Must go, but to Blue, CHB, pushme, Swan, ellie (how was soft-play hell?) and all.

Evening all, apologies for absence over the last couple of days, I had work and then straight out in the evening with colleagues yesterday (and didn't have to drive, a glass or two of wine was VERY welcome after all the broken wrist related stress this week).

A couple of days ago I had an email from one of my oldest friends, who I haven't seen for a couple of years saying that the entire gang of our friends (6 families) was planning a day out at Sandown Races today and were we free? I wasn't sure because of DS, but we went along and had a great day, DS flagged a bit towards the end but both DCs loved watching the races and I loved catching up with so many friends. Just had an "eat up all the leftover food in the fridge" meal in front of the telly (meals went completely off plan this week) and need to get the DCs off to bed.

Re norks: mine have stayed the same through pg, bf and life in general. I changed to Bravissimo bras a couple of years ago (I'm a 36E so not huge but not small either) and they have made a big difference in comfort and appearance. I'm a long way from a store, but there is one near the ILs, so I try and go when I'm there.

Doris - saw your post about needing trainers for the C25K the other day, I did it a couple of years ago and would really advise getting running shoes form a proper running shop, not just Sports Direct or somewhere. Running shops will analyse the way you walk and run and get you the correct shoes, it makes a big difference to your chances of avoiding injury. They will cost more, but if budget permits it really is worth doing. Mine are the comfiest footwear I have ever owned.

Evening everyone Smile . Hope you've all been having lots of family fun Wink.

Here are the links for the 16th June

The babystep for today is to read a flylady email>. Probably not too many of us have these so it should be an easy one Grin

The flight plan is here and the daily focus for Sunday is (as you've probably guessed) -sunday renew your spirirt day. We will be renewing ours with a Father's Day zoo trip ( we have season tickets to the Yorkshire Wildlife Park, which is rather a fledgling zoo but does now have the advantage of being free!)

No missions of course, although I am currently reviewing the zone 3 detailed cleaning list, but I wouldn't suggest anyone else does the same!

Hope you're all still drinking your water!

Hi everyone - you guys have me ROFL every day! I'm so glad you are here for me to report back to, it is a great motivation.

I've had a pretty good day today re FLYing, here is my tada! list -

Morning routine minus the S&S
Food shop before 10.30am (but forgot to use £5 tesco voucher grrr)
Tidied spare room, dusted, hoovered, mopped for guests who then cancelled
Cleared desk and did a bit of mending, a bit of filing, and chucked away all the unused cheques from all my books from closed accounts (did a mass move to barclays 2 years ago) plus threw away lots of other old paperwork
Did a load of washing and hung it out
Folded the dry stuff
Made a dessert that used up some rhubarb we were given

I'm just stopping BF so really should go and get a new bra or two. Very confused about what size I may be after weight loss, PG, etc!! May have to follow bitchys approach so I get what I want from the M&S ladies! (what a job - imagine, other peoples boobs EVERY day [confused!!!)

pushmepullyou · 15/06/2013 21:23

Feck, I've just accidentally hidden the thread - anyone know how to unhide it?

fudge74 · 15/06/2013 21:26

Hmmm - the zone 3 list has extra bedroom and office on it - I have been doing the list without even realising - yay! Grin

Really want to try to tick off more on the actual bathroom list before the weekend is out...

elliepac · 15/06/2013 21:26

Oh and like toffee and goth, FA flying done WinkGrin.

pushmepullyou · 15/06/2013 21:32

I'm pretty much there with my bathroom list - apart from the shower door, which I will have a go at tomorrow.

Glad you survived soft play ellie, 4 hours would just about kill me!

OP posts:
elliepac · 15/06/2013 21:45

It did kill me. Wineis beginning to resurrect meWink.

elliepac · 15/06/2013 21:46

elliepac · 15/06/2013 21:47

See how insane it has sent me. Moreorless the same thing posted twice. More WineneededWink.

Asheth · 15/06/2013 22:04

Have had a family fun day here in the form of the school fair... in the rain! and the wind!

So not much flying done, except for the washing (have to do that each day or it really piles up and it takes me all week to catch up!) and some more declutering in DS3's room.

Well done for surviving 4 hours in the soft play Ellie You deserve your Wine!
Hope you all enjoy the zoo PMPY Hope the weather is better for you than its forecast here for us!
Trazzle Like you I was always an A cup going up to a B during pregnancy. So will have to check out those intervention threads and see if I've been wrong all these years!
Well done to everyone on their flying this week! I love this thread - it's been great at keeping me motivated!

Trazzletoes · 15/06/2013 22:20

HEEEEEEEELP MEEEEEEEEEEEEE I'm officially the worst wife EVER and this shows exactly how crap I am at FLYing

pushmepullyou · 15/06/2013 22:25

Am attempting to be helpful on your other thread Smile

Don't worry about it though- being a good partner/team is about waaay more than Fathers/mothers Day presents. You've been pretty bloody amazing all year and I'm sure your DH feels the same [simle]

OP posts:
pushmepullyou · 15/06/2013 22:28

Smile obviously not simile! I can't think of a good simile for that!

OP posts:
fudge74 · 15/06/2013 22:48

I have not even bought a father's day present Shock too soon after dh's birthday!
BUT since my last post have decluttered bathroom, washed floor and bath, organised my vitamins and chucked away old bottles Grin instead of reading my latest Elizabeth Chadwick book and getting excited about the medieval fayre e are going to tomorrow Angry damn you flyladies, damn you! (goodnight Smile )

fudge74 · 15/06/2013 22:50

well done trazzle it's always where you first look but not EXACTLY in the place, eh? Grin

elliepac · 15/06/2013 22:56

Yay for finding it trazzles. If you were a truly crap wife you wouldn't have bought anything at all and if you were a truly crap flyer you wouldn't have a sock drawer, you would have a sock bag (like meBlush). Ergo, you are not crap, you are amazingSmile.

CHBitchy · 16/06/2013 01:13

Listen to Ellie she makes sense.

MercuryRising · 16/06/2013 07:46

I have just caught up with the thread after working the last three nights and have to agree with the others you are definitely not a bad wife Trazzles! I once lost both ILs Christmas presents and did not find them until April Blush

Im off to get the provisions for a Fathers Day fry up. Have a lovely day everybody Smile

Trazzletoes · 16/06/2013 09:12

Awwww you guuuuuuuys!

We don't normally buy fathers and Mother's Day presents - just get the DCs to paint a picture or something, but this year we agreed on getting some footprint jewellery for each of us so it was bloody expensive and also very personal so I was gutted that I couldn't find it!

Especially after I left Joe's handmade card at the hospital Blush

Very little flying achieved here yesterday but the dishwasher is now connected and up and running (hooray!). Yes, I did sit and gaze adoringly at it for the length of its first cycle...

Also made a batch of fairy cakes for a bake sale a friend is running to raise funds for a neuroblastoma charity. And made some meringues to make a strawberry meringue cake for pudding today. The reason I'm putting all this is because I don't cook!

Also did the first day of c25k to kick start decluttering my body. I am having a day off MFP today as I like to have 1 day a week where I'm not counting everything that goes in my mouth! Back on it tomorrow though.

Today is definitely a family fun day as we are heading out to a science centre with a huge play area for the afternoon. Limited flying again, no doubt!

I hope Toffeekitten perks up soon.
