Is June the new January? - the Fledgling Flyers are doing their flaming best

pushmepullyou · 31/05/2013 21:32

Welcome old and new fledglings to the June Fledgling FLYers thread! Smile

Thank you very much to castlelough for leading us expertly through May - I shall try not to be too haphazard with June, although I make no promises Wink

If you're overwhelmed by clutter and general household grub then join us as we (loosely) follow the step-by-step Flylady housekeeping system or languish in the naughty corner hoping to do better tomorrow Grin

As usual, we will be following the Flylady three-pronged approach:

  1. Baby-steps (a daily step to establish routines)
  2. Then baby-steps + 15 mins daily decluttering
  3. (And once decluttered) babysteps + daily missions and maybe even detailed cleaning in the weekly zones

For more information have a look here, although to avoid a cluttered inbox, we advise not signing up to the Flylady emails. The basic principle is little and often and don't worry about perfection (no chance of that here!).

Don't worry if you are behind; just jump right back in and it will all come around next month again anyway!

All the links for the babysteps and missions will be posted here every day and we'll all be here to cheer each other on and chat our way through the month.

Ya see that's the thing, I'm happy with my (34C) norks and don't want them to shrink so I have to be careful. I want to be 9 stone 10 (I was given that weight on some website that told you what you should be after taking into account your gender, bone density etc). Anyway I've only gone and bought a large chocolate fudge cake from morrisons as it was better than half price,it looked too nice to turn down.

done
Load of washing
Weekly shop
Decluttering my purse, I could hardly shut it due to the crap I had stored in there

to do
Shine sink
Tidy up phone area in preparation for BT man coming to look at our Internet.
Slump about
Ring about claiming expenses for my course and maybe send off petrol receipts

Toffee still hope kitten is ok again. Sounds like a right palava and PITA

Doris C25K is how I started and I'm doing a 10K on Sunday and last night I was discussing which half marathon to go for next year.

ToffeeWhirl · 14/06/2013 18:02

After inital hiccups (DS1 sitting on the doorstep, shouting and refusing to get in the car, in full view of our very nosy hairdresser opposite who will now regale all her customers), we managed to get DS1 to the new school. We and DS1 were shown round and I think he liked it. He hasn't said much, but the little he has said has been positive. Back on Monday for an interview.

Zoomed into work for an hour, then back to the vet with kitty, who was declared a 'puzzle'. Vet has given us Fucidin cream for kitty's sore skin and we'll wait and see how he gets on in the next week or so.

Now back and drinking Cava, before heading off to pick up DS2 from his friend's house.

I must have burned off calories from stress and rushing around today.

KatAndKit · 14/06/2013 19:08

Baaah I dont even have any scales at the moment. I suspect I have 3 stone to lose. I'm an 18 at the moment and I was a 12/14 when I was at my nice weight five years ago. I am trying at the moment but not motivated enough to do a proper diet thing yet. I don't get on with diets really, they seem to make me want cake more.

Hope the cream helps toffeekit and the cava helps toffee !!

I've had a less good day today. Napfail this morning = crying baby during bank visit and afternoon activities written off so I could get him to have his nap. DP is putting him to bed tonight as I am bored of spending an hour every evening lying in a dark room saying sssssh. So I have managed to get the dishwasher on, mop up the dirty bits of the floor and clean the sink and the cooker top. No decluttering today so I will try to do a few more 15 minute sessions over the weekend but I have loads of other stuff to do too.

fudge74 · 14/06/2013 20:38

I ironed my bump when heavily PG Blush

goth Grin there are a lot of 15 minutes between 1.20pm and school run time! But i'd be the same, when you have a good book everything else pales into insignificance!!

lilleth well done on your plans for a run, I don't even run for the bus.

toffee you may laugh at our cat and rabbit story - we had a very randy rabbit that we took in when my friend couldnt look after him any more, he humped all the footballs in the garden and chased the cat like mad. One day they both disappeared never to be seen again (both boys) We always thought of them running off into the sunset together over all the back walls... in some kind of cross-breed same sex relationship!!!!

kat I am in the same boat about bedtimes with my DD - I am trying to get her off the boob onto the bottle, and am spending at least 1 hour every night lying with her and shushhing - it's [hopefully] just a phase that wont last too long.

Anyhoo, no FLYing done here today, so I'm going to sit in the naughty corner with my Brew and plan my missions for tomorrow.

ToffeeWhirl · 14/06/2013 21:49

Aww, at cat-and-rabbit gay romance Grin.

Have drunk Cava and Italia Pinot and eaten chocolate brownies. Am now over today's calorie allowance .

Oh well. It was a stressful day. Off to bed for a very early night shortly.

Night all.

elliepac · 14/06/2013 22:10

I love the fact I can pop in here of an evening and find the discussion has mainly about norksGrinGrin.

36E here, so rather ample. DH is most upset as they have shrunk considerably with this fitness malarkey and he keeps trying to feed me pizza to get them back againWinkGrin.

scGrinGrin at ironing yours.

Whoever it was that was going to start C25k ( on phone so can't scroll back) do it. If I can do it, anyone can. On wk 7 now. I was about to say am enjoying it but that would be a lieWink. What i do enjoy is the smug feeling 10 minutes after it (when i have stopped sweating/hyperventilatingWinkGrin)

On the subject of weightloss, despite having lost quite a lot if i go by those bmi things i still have 7 million to lose being rather a shortarse. I have decided to ignore them and go for a size 12. Currently mainly a 14 which is the lowest i have been since i was 18 and want a target that is attainable not ridiculous.

Have a lovely evening everybodySmile.

(a whole post with not one mention if the f word , that is why i love this threadGrin)

BlueEyeshadow · 14/06/2013 22:13

Ta da!
Laundry
Been to 1st session of parenting class at children's centre
Blogging
Work
New watch battery (and sneaky child-free cuppa in nice café)
Cooked tea - pasta bake - and survived DS2 refusing pasta (which he loves) for the 2nd day in a row without actual bloodshed
Properly cleaned kitchen surfaces
Swept floor x loads
Put out kitchen, dining room and desk hotspots
Paid overlooked (and late) bill lurking in desk hotspot. Grr [anger]

To do tomorrow:
Get passport form
Pay balance for holiday
Order new bulb for oven

Grin at all the nork talk from earlier. Doris - don't forget good sports bra on the list of necessary running equipment!

Also Grin at cat'n'rabbit.

Hope you manage to work out a medicine strategy Trazzles and yay for new dishwasher.

Hope the new school situation continues positive, Toffee and that kitty is soon on the mend. Cava and choc brownies sounds lovely...

Big waves to everyone else. Bon weekend!

Asheth · 14/06/2013 23:52

Made up for yesterday and can now feel very proud of my shiny, uncluttered bathroom! And that is the room in the house tht has the best chance of staying uncluttered as well!

And I've managed to stay on top of the laundry this week. I wouldn't say I'm rebooting it every day, but I do a wash every day and everything else every other day.

Love the cat/Rabbit bromance! And am very jealous of everyone's norks. Sadly I don't have anything worth speaking about! Oh well, at least it means I wont iron them! Shock Grin

CHBitchy · 15/06/2013 01:32

Asheth I would imagine that it would also make the task of buying bras slightly easier too. Nice boulder holders can be so hard to find. And as for comfortable scaffolding...

Grin
pushmepullyou · 15/06/2013 07:02

Gah, link fail sorry (fell asleep Blush ). On my phonw so will have to come and post them later.

Glad to have you back sc. Hope you're recovering Smile

fudge, sc and other maladventurous ironers,,, you do realise this is why ironing is wrong don't you? I avoid it wherever possible!

Poor baldy toffeekitten. I think hair pulling can be a stress sympton in siamese and similar breeds. Fingers crossed that's 'all' it is.

trazzles too am the exception that proves the rule norkage wise! They are particularly sad at the moment as I have just finished bfing DS. Mind you, considering they have had over 5 years of pregnancy and bfing I don't think they're doing too bad!

Back in a bit with the links Smile

OP posts:
Trazzletoes · 15/06/2013 07:05

Asheth if you go by M&S sizing, I can guarantee that you are 3 or 4 cup sizes bigger than you think. I have spent my life as an A, going up to B due to babies. I did the usual, measure round under bust, add 4...?????????!!!!!

There's no need to do that. Get yourself to the bra intervention threads for a huge non-surgical ego boost. I am actually a DD!!! And those bras fit me because I'm wearing them correctly. I am not joking! And actually they make my shape lookoads better too. Wearing the correct bra makes you look slimmer too and feel better.

Trazzletoes · 15/06/2013 07:12

Dishwasher update! It was delivered, it was plumbed in (with many tiresome comments about how we were getting a free-standing one, did we know that? (Well yes, I researched and ordered it) as our old one was integrated and did I want the spare cupboard door back? (What am I going to do with a crappy cupboard fascia that doesn't fit my new dishwasher?)) and then our spigot(?!) was declared faulty.

I spent yesterday afternoon at hardware stores with 2 children. Apparently none of them sell our "old-style" stuff so hoping to get something suitable this morning from Screwfix.

Fingers crossed we can finish getting it plumbed by lunchtime. House is a wreck, I'm a wreck. Much flying is needed, at a loss for where to start or how I can find the time with DD attached to my shoulder like a limpet.

elliepac · 15/06/2013 08:36

Morning allSmile.

Busy day today so need a list.

To do:-
General tidy of whole house
General clean of whole house
Food shop
Town for birthday cards and presents.
Soft play party x 2Shock

Yes you saw that correctly 2 x soft play parties. DD has two fecking parties today. 4-6 at one local soft play establishment and another 6.30-8.30 at the other local soft play establishment. I have 4 and a half hours ar soft play today. Not made easier because I don't do the school run so don't know any of the other mum's and they are rather cliquey. Saving grave is that party no. 2 is a joint party and BF's Dd has been invited and therefore BF will be there. Tis going to be a long day!

trazzles hope you get dishwasher sorted. We had one and it broke ages ago. I have told DH that when this ppi money comes in i am getting a new own. He is anti-dishwasher and says we don't need one. He doesn't do the fecking washing up so he has no choice in the matter. ( not a leave the bastard situation, he does do plenty of other stuffWink)

fudge Grin at ironing bump.

sc hope you are recovering well.

chb you are right about the difficulty of purchasing nice bras for large norkage. Always found bravissimo good but costly and miles away from me.

Better get on!

Castlelough · 15/06/2013 09:12

Argh I have visitors calling at 11am....

They were originally coming to stay the night, but I really wasn't up to it and the house is in chaos! and I have SO much to catch up on for school over the weekend (summer reports being the priority/ due in Monday Shock).

Now....gotta shower, make presentable (remove cat hair Blush) the kitchen and myself and get breakfast on.

Trazzles I hope you get your dw sorted today EnvyEnvyEnvy. You should see the mountain of dishes I had to wash last night Your house may be in chaos but your MFP is going super well!

Elliepac well done on the c25k Grin

To Do:

-Crisis clean in the kitchen and bathroom
-Cook breakfast for visitors, and take them out walking (weather permitting)
-Mini grocery shop
-Schoolwork: summer reports x22 (not so bad this year!) Hope to make some progress today.
-Schoolwork: grade the remaining projects.
-What's for dinner?
-Exercise/MFP
-Visit DMil
-Meet a friend for a few glasses of wine tonight.

ToffeeWhirl · 15/06/2013 09:14

pushme - don't despair about shrinking, post-breastfeeding norks. Mine virtually disappeared after I'd finished breastfeeding DS2, but they came back again! Honestly, if I was a celebrity, the papers would have a field day, accusing me of a boob job Grin.

trazzle - curse the dishwasher and its spigot! I hope you get it sorted soon.

ellie - sorry for your four hours of soft-play hell. I feel your pain at not knowing any of the other mums. I hope they are welcoming. And glad to hear that your BF will be there at second party.

MIL is babysitting again and this time DH and I are going out on our own. Not sure where we're going yet - very exciting to have the opportunity to be child free for a few hours!

Hope you all have a good day.

ToffeeWhirl · 15/06/2013 09:15

Castle - sorry, x-posted. Good luck with the crisis clean and enjoy your sociable day.

(Belated!) Links for 15th June

The babystep for today is adding making your bed to your morning routine. I like to leave ours turned back to air, but rarely get round to it so perhaps I will try this one this time.

The flight plan is here and the daily focus is family fun day.

No missions as it's the weekend Grin

Hope you're all still drinking your water!

Aaaah report season castle, i have mine to do too. Still got a couple of weeks left though. I am a last minute, fly by the seat of my pants kind of teacherWinkGrin. Good LuckSmile.

CHBitchy · 15/06/2013 11:20

Weirdly I got my last bra in M&S but I did greatly upset the fitting lady but telling her what I wanted, in what size and refusing to be actually fitted to the bra. Best bra I have had in a long while.

I am supposed to be doing stuff today. I really cba. thinking a shower and cup of coffee might help.

CHBitchy · 15/06/2013 11:22

That or meeting the man who has been in my dreams recently. Most enjoyable they have been too WinkGrin although no idea who on earth they are though but probably better that way reality would only disappoint

Swanhilda · 15/06/2013 12:40

trazzle well done for getting freestanding dw, our new integrated one really does not have as much space as the old one (which we kept in the utility room and still seems to be filling up with pans to be washed - what a luxury to have two! - only now no dryer as it was meant to replace old dw..) So frustrating when they just want to be attached like limpet, sometimes the only thing to do is just give up and let them, and then they start perking up and want to get down again. Dd went through a looong limpet stage around age of two-four. I used to carry her to Reception Class from home (5 mins walk) People used to stare, but I think she needed that cuddle time.

Bras I read that thread about increasing your cup size and reducing the back width to get a perfect fit. It is true! I went from a 38A to a 36B and very nice it is too Grin I am v flatchested by comparison to you all Blush but at least age cannot wither them...Wink they seem to be the same as in my youth. For about 3 years in my thirties I wore no bra at all, and it has made no difference to suspension. Maybe bras are fashion item rather than a necessity and there are other factors affecting gravity.

done
catechism meeting
enjoying absence of twins TREMENDOUSLY. Dh is being v sentimental about breakfast without them - so quiet etc etc, no fun without them [ha ha]
CBT session went well. She advised me that wheat was probably aggravating my low mood because of the auto-immune/thyroid connection, which explains why low carbing has inadvertently made me feel so much less tired Shock. So I will continue with low carbing but remember I can now eat POTATOES and BROWN RICE (if I choose to Wink still low carbing in general for the diet) We have embarked on a driving anxiety programme which involves me driving round the local area on the roads I usually avoid (the fast ones) and she has also given me a CBT cd to listen to.
now to get ds1 to violin and then to a tennis lesson. He was ill yesterday but seems to have perked up today.

BlueEyeshadow · 15/06/2013 13:25

Agree with Bitchy - there are some v nice bras for larger norkage in M&S just so long as you don't let them fit you. I got 4 for £20 in the sale the other day (32DD, having got up to a G at one point Grin) A good bra is very much a necessity.

Got caught in the most humungous hailstorm this morning but managed to achieve the shopping anyway, and then to dry out the passport forms!!

Now need to do a bit on the pooter and then try and rescue the poor little pea plants which got completely squished. :(

superfluouscurves · 15/06/2013 13:45

waves to all!! Thanks for good wishes. Amfine thxs.

Propped up in bed helping dd with revision watching channel 4 racing.

Toffee don't want to cause unnecessary alarm but did vet mention liver prob re kitten? If so, might be worth checking out because old dog had liver prob -she itched so much she removed fur from stomach/legs etc. Sincerely hope not that though ...

Arf at Fudge's rabbit/cat romance! Grin An alternative version of Owl and the Pussycat.

Leaves out Wine for Ellie post soft play torture x 2

Sorry no more personals

Have a good w/e everyone!

superfluouscurves · 15/06/2013 13:47

Arf at Bitchy scaring M&S lady too!!! Grin

DorisShutt · 15/06/2013 14:08

Hello all!

Currently MNetting from the park while watching DS and DH play - dunno who is having more fun!

Managed to get not one, but two pairs of black trousers today. Unfortunately, the mirror in Debehams is not the most flattering when you're standing there sans trousers, so it has made me more determined to try the c25k when I'm back from holiday - maybe a little more toning and trouser issues will vanish I wish, no chance really Just need a pair of running trousers as my current jogging trousers are very baggy at the knees.

Need to do a bit of flying when I get home, but nothing major.

Have a lovely weekend everyone!
