Is June the new January? - the Fledgling Flyers are doing their flaming best

Welcome old and new fledglings to the June Fledgling FLYers thread! Smile

Thank you very much to castlelough for leading us expertly through May - I shall try not to be too haphazard with June, although I make no promises Wink

If you're overwhelmed by clutter and general household grub then join us as we (loosely) follow the step-by-step Flylady housekeeping system or languish in the naughty corner hoping to do better tomorrow Grin

As usual, we will be following the Flylady three-pronged approach:

  1. Baby-steps (a daily step to establish routines)
  2. Then baby-steps + 15 mins daily decluttering
  3. (And once decluttered) babysteps + daily missions and maybe even detailed cleaning in the weekly zones

For more information have a look here, although to avoid a cluttered inbox, we advise not signing up to the Flylady emails. The basic principle is little and often and don't worry about perfection (no chance of that here!).

Don't worry if you are behind; just jump right back in and it will all come around next month again anyway!

All the links for the babysteps and missions will be posted here every day and we'll all be here to cheer each other on and chat our way through the month.

Note to self to self: do not look at Bitchy's list Grin

Done
Beds
Laundry on
S&S
Dd to school
Washing up
Shined sink, yes I know but even though DH washes up he doesn't wipe down and I couldn't leave it any longer.
Vacuumed lounge (DH finished it while I rescued a bee in the kitchen)
Ironed & put away yesterday's laundry

To do
Hang out laundry
Put on another load
Do a food shop
Hang out next load
Vacuum remainder of flat
Bins
Dust (who am I kidding)
Work through this week's missions.
Collect DD from friend's house (firstly look up where that is!)

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeGoes · 13/06/2013 11:36

We're home. DS is ensconced on the sofa playing Moshi Monsters on the laptop. I agree about the GA, I was absolutely wiped out for several days after that one I had in Sept, although my op was longer and I am older. DS is remarkably perky this morning, I wouldn't say cheerful, he moaned incessantly about getting home from the moment he woke up. He also had a hefty dose of fentanol (sp?) and morphine in recovery, so I am amazed he is feeling as well as he does, no sickness either. Mind you the first time I had a GA I was fine for 24 hours then vomited for Great Britain, so not going to get too carried away.

Doris - I know exactly how you feel, my house seems to be like that about 90% of the time lately, I feel as though I am losing the battle with clutter again recently. Not going to get much better over the next week or so either, I have had a lot of time off work for all these hospital visits that needs to be made up.

Swanhilda · 13/06/2013 12:18

reading all your posts, I need to just get on and attack those rooms! I have no toddler or sick child to minister to, so I need to sort out

bathroom upstairs
our bedroom
and the laundry pile

okay first step, put away all my clothes properly in the cupboard. I dunno what the point of me finding my summer wardrobe was, I'm back in a large woolly jumper this morning which was on the winter pile...

Bitchy sparkly things Envy I'm still trying to get round to make my oven glove. I keep finding old clothes to line one with, just never get round to the creative bit..I have a lovely book I used to sew from when I was 10 called Look I Can Sew (ordered recently from Amazon for £2) and it has an oven glove in it...Perhaps this weekend when twins are away I will get round to it.

CHBitchy · 13/06/2013 14:22

Don't be too Envy swan spent most the day cutting, sewing together unpicking and re-cutting pattern pieces. It is rather frustrating. but hopefully it will work this time when I finish unpicking and put it back together again. Hmm

Trazzletoes · 13/06/2013 15:21

Finally got back from "short" hospital appointment with DS... Hence terrible lunch on MFP Blush.

DS made a lovely Fathers Day card. Guess who left it at the hospital?

Blush
LillethTheCat · 13/06/2013 17:56

Just popping in quickly before I get ready for running club.

Today I have
volunteered on reception at Age UK
received oil delivery
rang up agency to chase up jobs
Load of washing
Sorted out clothes for tomorrow
Filled washing machine ready for tomorrow
Still to the sink, but will do that when I get back later.
DH did another 30 mins decluttering today while I was out too.

doris do you live in my house? The house you described sounds like mine. Is it too much to ask for everything to have a place and be in its place. That was the plan before I moved just over a year ago, but it hasn't worked out like that Sad

trazzle don't worry about the food, tomorrow's another day. Forget about it and move on. That's what I tell myself most days anyway, just a shame for me that I have to say it every day, whoops.

whoknows yey to being at home. Here's hoping the sickness stays away

Hope all goes well SC

Big wing flaps to everyone else, must dash. Will be back tomorrow briefly, though im getting the hang of the iPad now, I'm just not as quick.

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeGoes · 13/06/2013 17:59

I'm shattered. This has been a hectic week. Tomorrow is a long day too, working in the morning (just got time to stop in for coffee at a friend's en route), home at 2 for DD's class assembly and back to work plus going straight out with colleagues in the evening. The DGPs are taking care of DS tomorrow, he isn't going to be ready for school.

Been out to Sainsburys with DS for essentials, need to clear the kitchen up, unload the dryer and do evening routine and get an early night (been up at 5.30, 5.30 and 4.30 the last three mornings, which is a bit of a departure from routine for me, to say the least).

ToffeeWhirl · 13/06/2013 18:07

Trazzles - frustratingly, I can't view your MFP diary to see your lunch!

WhoKnows - glad you and DS are back home again. I hope he feels better soon (and no sickness, hopefully).

Swan and Bitchy - I don't know how to sew at all. Can just about sew a button on Blush. Am very impressed by your projects.

Goth - that's an impressive list!

Doris - sympathies on the house. Mine has deteriorated into that state too recently, but I had a big kick up the arse today because my lovely cleaner arrived and galvanised me Smile. For me, the answer to CBA is either using a timer and doing short bursts or inviting visitors.

Kat - same here with clutter. We have done lots of decluttering in the past year, but it still creeps back Confused.

Bitchy - well done on your early start with the 'ta da' list.

SC - hope the boring medical procedure goes well and that you get some time to relax and recover afterwards. No flying allowed!

ellie - Grin

Thanks to aforementioned wonderful cleaner, who has cleaned the house whilst I tidied, I have a ta da list today:

School run
Walk to Post office and bank
Breakfast
Swish and swipe bathroom
Change towel
Tidy away toys in bath
Empty bathroom bin
Put white washing on

Reload d/w
Delegate tidying of his bedroom to DS1
Finish tidying DS1's bedroom properly
Empty DS1's bin

Move pile of clutter off landing into our bedroom
Move DS2's toy hamster house off landing into his bedroom
Room rescue in sitting room - put clutter back where it belongs
Tidy dining-room table
Clear kitchen surfaces and wipe down
Feed cat several times (trying to encourage him to eat more)
Administer cat eye drops
Empty cat litter
Put all recycling in the correct boxes outside
Empty kitchen bin
Put the rest of the shopping away from last night's delivery
Put all the various piles of washing upstairs to be put away/ironed
Actually put some of the clean washing away Shock
Tidy our bedroom Shock Shock
Smile and make tea for two unexpected visitors
Lunch
School run
Maths with DS2
More tidying up in our bedroom
Point out to DH on his return that the house is now Very Tidy Grin

ToffeeWhirl · 13/06/2013 18:10

MFP tells me I have burned 553 calories from walking and cleaning today! Whoohoo - that means I can have wine tonight!

Grin
Trazzletoes · 13/06/2013 18:20

You. Nshoyld be able to see it now but anyway was mi barrels and malteasers

ToffeeWhirl · 13/06/2013 18:35

I had no idea two items of chocolate were so high in calories Shock. I never used to have to think about these things.

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeGoes · 13/06/2013 19:08

I'm starting to post again on MFP tomorrow. I have existed almost entirely on toast and sandwiches this week, with next to no exercise, however my jeans feel loose . My weigh in day is Friday, the moment of truth beckons!

elliepac · 13/06/2013 19:09

I think it is a bad thing to have CBA so early in the morning because I went to work feeling very CBA and had a crap day. My 3 most difficult classes on the bounce this morning and then an afternoon disrupted by massive thunderstorms which are not conducive to a calm learning environment (in a similar way that I am sure snow contains some form of hallucenogenic drugs Grin)

I too rushed to look at trazzles mfp diary toffee.

whoknows glad DS is ok

doris lilleth my house is exactly the same. Tis like living in groundhog day.

On a positive note, DH has joined the fledgling husband crew and has tidied up, cooked dinner, cleared away from dinner and is currently bathing DD.

Going to get into pj's and fall asleep lounge on the sofa.

CHBitchy · 13/06/2013 19:24

I had a long post. I forgot to c&p it before I hit refresh. the sodding post has vanished. Too tired, too grumpy and too Angry with ds to be arsed trying to figure out what the hell the post contained. Going to continue the battle about getting ds into bed. And then make my bed up and go to sleep myself. Not a happy bunny tonight.

ToffeeWhirl · 13/06/2013 19:31
elliepac · 13/06/2013 19:55
elliepac · 13/06/2013 19:59

And toffee, I too should invite visitors, or more specifically my mother, to ensure a clean houseGrin. But then I would have to see her everyday and you can have too much of a good thing.

Was going to go for a run tonight but it was chucking it down (again) so had tea and now it has brightened up and is a lovely evening. Grrrrrr.

Still no flying done ( which is what I am supposed to be here to talk aboutBlush).

MercuryRising · 13/06/2013 20:01

Evening.

Im at work tonight but was just having a quick scan through the thread and wow toffee and goth they are some impressive ta da lists.

I haven't done a lot today. I did the morning routines, went for a swim, had a nap in preparation for this evening, took dd to her swimming lesson and then came in to work. However, dp has been a star and tidied the house, changed the bins and did dinner for the dcs. I think he is actually much better at flying than me!

CHBitchy · 13/06/2013 20:24

Ds told me it was my job to tidy his room and after him. AngryAngryAngry It got ugly. And I threated to start charging him for the privilege of tidy up after him.

He is now in bed. I am ignoring all complaints coming from that direction. Hopefully I have recut the same sodding piece for the last bastard time. But have given up for tonight and sitting with small pieces of material and using invisible thread to hand stitch beads onto them.

I have a long list of stuff to do for tomo. Clearly it is going to be a long day tomo. Suppose I should put the bedding back onto my bed at some point tonight.

fudge74 · 13/06/2013 20:24

You can do anything in 15 minutes - except catch up on this thread!!!
I've done the toilet clean that was Monday's mission, but been at work the rest of the week so only just managed laundry and a bit of am and eve routines. Oh and I have freecycled and old buggy and a rabbit hutch, yay!
Where does all the time go indeed!
to Castle glad to see you are back.
I'm going to have to schedule some decluttering time over the weekend to make some progress.

CHBitchy · 13/06/2013 20:52

Links fo 14th June

The babystep for today is reading an essay about how to use a calendar. I haven't done this this month, but I seem to remember that it was surprisingly helpful last time I read it so I may go and refresh my memory in a minute.

It's the last day in zone 3 and the mission is mop the bathroom floor and teach your kids to hotspot their bedrooms. Not sure whether that is a good or bad thing for bitchy at the moment!

The flight plan is here and the daily focus is declutter your bag and car day.

Hope you're all still drinking your water!

Have lovely Fridays - can't get to the end of the week fast enough for me Grin
