Is June the new January? - the Fledgling Flyers are doing their flaming best

Welcome old and new fledglings to the June Fledgling FLYers thread! Smile

Thank you very much to castlelough for leading us expertly through May - I shall try not to be too haphazard with June, although I make no promises Wink

If you're overwhelmed by clutter and general household grub then join us as we (loosely) follow the step-by-step Flylady housekeeping system or languish in the naughty corner hoping to do better tomorrow Grin

As usual, we will be following the Flylady three-pronged approach:

  1. Baby-steps (a daily step to establish routines)
  2. Then baby-steps + 15 mins daily decluttering
  3. (And once decluttered) babysteps + daily missions and maybe even detailed cleaning in the weekly zones

For more information have a look here, although to avoid a cluttered inbox, we advise not signing up to the Flylady emails. The basic principle is little and often and don't worry about perfection (no chance of that here!).

Don't worry if you are behind; just jump right back in and it will all come around next month again anyway!

All the links for the babysteps and missions will be posted here every day and we'll all be here to cheer each other on and chat our way through the month.

Worked for me Smile Still can't find out how to search on the app but worked it out on the laptop.

How horribly stressful for you Sad. Do you know what the bug is they're worried about? If it's any help at all we do some water microbiology stuff at work and as I understand it there are very few cases where infections are linked to tap water consumption even in people with low immunity. I think it's about risk management rather than anything else. I know when my BIL was neutropenic he ate a lot of things he shouldn't have through failing to read his diet sheet and he managed to avoid all the nasties. Not much help I know, but I would think his chances of avoiding infection are good. Can you talk to his doctor tomorrow and see what they say?

Was going to do a fancy roundup tonight but my computer has just crashed taking my lovingly crafted post with it and I really really need to go to bed.

Hope the kitten perks up toffee. Still need to find half the thread on mfp, but will have another go tomorrow Smile. Sorry to hear about DH's business trip sc. We have similar problems here with one or the other of us. Very frustrating even when it is unavoidable.

Big wing flaps to Goth, Bitchy, narky, engels, whoknows (v sorry to hear DS's arm is no better. Will be thinking about you both), newby, doris, swan and everyone I've missed Smile

Sorry your date night was spoilt, Trazzles. I'm sure your DM will be extra vigilant after this. She must feel terrible that she made a mistake like that.

SC - glad the school situation was resolved so well. Sorry to hear your DH has had to cancel your time together again. It sounds as if he's in an impossible position if work demands that he go. Horrible for you though.

So sorry, can't do anymore personal messages as I must get to bed so I can think straight tomorrow morning (psych appointment for DS1). Goodnight to you all.

Oh, and kitty ate a tiny bit of chicken tonight .

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeGoes · 12/06/2013 06:25

Trazzles - sorry to hear about Joe and the water. Fingers crossed there wiil be no ill effects.

Toffee - glad ToffeeKit is showing an interest in his food.

SC - sorry to hear that DH's work is causing all these short notice trips, must be very unsettling and tiring for you all.

Three new MFP friend requests just accepted. I really must start logging again, I don't think I've been too bad this week, but just a bit lazy about logging it all.

Up early again today to get DS fed before 6am, we have to go off to the hospital at 7, so just a quick post from me. I imagine it's going to be a long day for us all.

superfluouscurves · 12/06/2013 08:12

Morning my lovelies!

Hideous rush hour driving this morning - traffic was brutal!

Whoknows good luck to your ds and you this morning - thinking of you

Trazzles so sorry to hear about water incident and your ruined evening. If anyone needed a worry-free night out, it was you and your dh. Hope Joe suffers no ill effects.

Pushme good luck travelling today (how disappointing the races aren't on at C Wink)

Newby looking after ill child definitely qualifies as Flying, so out of the naughty corner with you!! Smile

Toffee hope kitten is turning a corner

Thanks for sympathy re: dh absence. I really shouldn't complain when he has a good job - so many people are losing theirs in his profession atm - so he is lucky he is busy. I just feel like a bit of an adjunct sometimes ...

Ta da:
morning routine inc dw, wm, s&s, rabbits
30 mins religion revision with dd
school run
dropped something off at church
chatted with friend in street for 10 mins

To do:
further quick tidy of kitchen
nip to pharmacy
banking
work phone calls x 4
research and admin for office
school run (half day today) + drum up something nutritious for lunch
brace myself for an afternoon of revision (tests next week)
evening routine
pray for wine o'clock

Did anyone see programme about Child Geniuses last night? Those poor kids!!

DorisShutt · 12/06/2013 09:10

Whoknows another flybaby wishing good luck to your ds and you this morning.
Toffee keeping my fingers crossed for Toffeekitty.
Trazzles keeping my fingers crossed for Joe being okay - at least your MIL won't be doing that again (hopefully)
SC I'm with you on the rush hour driving - I now either take the train or my general manager gives me a lift in the shop van. Much more relaxing!
Newby ill children trump flying - or at least should be pushed to the top of the list. It's all I can do to get anything done when DS is ill so relax and enjoy the naughty corner bar! Wink
Pushme have fun travelling today - may the journey be smooth!

Big waves and flaps to all the other babies not mentioned in person!

Well, I'm at work today so not much flying to be done today I don't think; to be honest, I can't see much work being done either. I do need to pop out and look for new work shoes/trousers so will brave the rain and the crowds later.

Have a lovely day - Brew on the bar for those in need!

superfluouscurves · 12/06/2013 09:25

Waves to Doris! Thanks for Brew

Sorry Newby realise my post can be read in entirely wrong way from that intended! Didn't mean "get out of naughty corner and Fly" but that you don't qualify for it in first place because your dc is ill (ditto what Doris said) so don't be too hard on yourself.

Oh no, bread and salami are doing the rounds, and it's only 10.30 am here!!

[Sits on hands]

Jdub · 12/06/2013 09:30

Good morning,
I've gone back to wearing boots to work as I'm fed up with getting wet feet when I go out at lunchtimes and it's raining, so happy shoe shopping Doris
I am also at work today (unusual for me for a wednesday, but had to swap my day off round - but that's cool)

done
bed made - so that's better than nothing

to do
Much!!
But most importantly, make my Dad a fruit cake for Fathers Day, when I get home.

Have a happy and productive day xx

Asheth · 12/06/2013 10:47

I am still here and still flying! Have been lurking as my computer is being very slow, so have been reading on my phone. But tend not to post when I'm on my phone as thanks to predictive text my posts don't usually make much sense!

So bathroom looking much more decluttered. Kids bedrooms not looking much more decluttered. But then their rooms are so cluttered I think each room should be a zone in itsself!

So today I will do another 15 mins (and probably finish!) decluttering the bathroom.
Will fight my way through the clutter to the kids underwear drawer!
Wash clothes
put away clothes
Go to school event.
And probably find lots of other little things to do along the way!

Very impressed with everyone's weightloss plans. Something else I should tackle at some point....

ToffeeWhirl · 12/06/2013 11:48

Morning all.

ToffeeKitten has eaten a little more this morning Smile. But I have still booked him in for the (terrifyingly expensive Sad) blood tests to make sure there is nothing else going on. Just as well we cancelled our holiday this year!

DS1 had a good appointment with the psychologist and we are going back again on Monday Smile.

On our return home, DS1 turned into a Kevin-style teenager and everything was suddenly "so unfair!". It was funny, but also frustrating and exhausting.

No Flying done today. About to start home ed, if Kevin has calmed down.

GoingGoingGoth · 12/06/2013 11:59

Hello all, very excited to find friends on MPF, guess I better start eating less/exercising more/lie.

Sat watching the puddles dry out on the bowling green. Hopefully, everything will dry out by the time the school children arrive this afternoon, although I'm not confident.

Last day at work this week, so tomorrow I will be Flying high!

MercuryRising · 12/06/2013 12:52

Hi Ladies,

Sorry I wasnt about yesterday. I helped in school, went to Weight Watchers (and lost 2 pounds) and then spent the evening catching up with my closest friend. It was lovely but I got very little flying done.

I helped in school this morning but Im not needed this afternoon as the class I help with are doing written assessments. So here is my plan for the afternoon:
Make beds
Clean bathroom
Washing out
Present shopping for ds
Dw
Hoover
Dust
Declutter dds toys
Mission
Ironing

Im hoping to get all that done before I collect the dcs at 4. I better get cracking.

Bbl to catch up with the thread.

CHBitchy · 12/06/2013 13:19

I am firmly resident in the naughty corner. I have restocked the bar. It is there for all who needs a strong virtual Wine later.

CHBitchy · 12/06/2013 13:40

wrt mfp, I am currently on off season. You should see what it is like when I am properly training. Poor Ellie and the others had a bit of a fright so I think perhaps they have earnt the right to warn newbies to the scary mfp world.

pushmepullyou · 12/06/2013 14:23

I'm hoping the fact that I'm not a newby to the scary bitch world will stand me in good stead Wink

Should be working, but no one else is in the office, so I'm spending my time adding individual Werthers originals to my mfp food diary. Wonder how long it will take for the novelty to wear off!

Am so so tired today and Cheltenham is grey and miserable (worse than W Yorks was this morning). Am going to nip to waitrose in a bit and buy the DC some new socks in preparation for tonight's sock mission Grin

OP posts:
pushmepullyou · 12/06/2013 14:24

oops bitchy Blush obviously. That typo changes the whole tone of the post!

OP posts:
CHBitchy · 12/06/2013 16:35

Tbh pmpy I think some poster who have been on this thread might agree with that first version. But I knew what you meant Grin

ToffeeWhirl · 12/06/2013 16:48

House is a mess, but I have spent the day dealing with DS1. Then did the school run and DS2 wanted me to help him with his Maths (he only got 2/15 on his mental Maths test, poor thing), so the piles of debris in the house remain untouched. DH will come home and look disappointed .

Am going to tackle the kitchen now, then do some ironing whilst DS2 watches telly. I'm trying to get a little done every day.

KatAndKit · 12/06/2013 17:17

Well not masses done today but went for wedding dress fitting which has made me :) :) :) Did do 2 lots of 15 minute decluttering this morning, washing machine went on, dishwasher got emptied and a walk to the shop happened. I am almost caught up with washing now although I do have a pile that needs putting away later.

Trazzletoes · 12/06/2013 17:31

Bitchy what do you train for?
As in, what activity? Not, why bother?! Grin

I weighed myself this morning and nearly passed out in horror. I'm on my way home from work and quite ashamed that my legs are aching after just 2 days of commuting. I must exercise tonight. That must come before flying!

I've also had it out with DM who is lovely but a bit of an enabler and insists on buying "treats" for us to enjoy every day Hmm. I've asked her not to before. She carries on so now I have put my foot down as I don't have the willpower not to eat things that are there. I can easily not buy stuff, and I don't buy it so that I don't eat it but it ends up in the cupboard anyway! Argh!

Trazzletoes · 12/06/2013 17:32

Sorry about lack of personals but am on phone and on train.

Swanhilda · 12/06/2013 17:40

Trazzles I'm sure she won't make the mistake twice and take extra extra good care of him because of it. Poor you and her, what a frightening thing to happen.

Toffee hope appt went well (sorry you probably said, but I missed it, in rush to post something before family trumps computer) I get so worried about our cats, I can't imagine how you feeling, not knowing about the kitten, but it may just be the long cat flu symptoms.

SC food really is a natural tranquillizer, especially the eating part, not just the calories Hmm I know that carrot cake has got me through some rough days, better than cigarettes or gin quite frankly. Today has been a bore. I really wanted to eat more than I did, but I think one measly bit of healthy carrot and nut muffin this morning has had the usual carb downward spiral effect - tiredness in afternoon, craving for more sugar etc. I haven't given in, and quite enjoying the sensation of actually being hungry, until a meal fills me up properly. Otherwise I am feeling much less anxious today than I have for a long time, since reading a book on the Menopause and how the post Menopausal woman is filled with zeal and energy (ha ha, so there's that to look forward to is there?)
I think you have plenty to deal with, and it is so frustrating when someone downgrades your particular goals and trumps them with theirs, even if it is for mutual good, like family business. Teachers tie me in knots, tg, you have someone with right viewpoint dealing with everything now.

Done
ds1 family therapy, he is a sweetie
screaming argument first thing from twins, so that was quite a useful session..Hmm
bought first batch of prizes for school tombola which I'm meant to be running
took ds2 to tutor
made yoghurt cake, which for once no-one has eaten (was it that horrid?I dare not even taste more than a crumb)
walking everywhere
took dd to buy wellies for trip
more food
made ds1 do some homework
ds2 next for the chop
need to make supper (stirfry and trying out some instant Iceland fried rice)
help at Beavers in optimistic mood

Whoknows hope today is OVER.

Swanhilda · 12/06/2013 17:43

Push sorry you are feeling so tired, it is the worst feeling, insurmountable. And that nanny is now following her contract with minimum bad vibes. So difficult to tiptoe round people.

CHBitchy · 12/06/2013 17:55

I will pm you trazzles. I try to keep this stuff off thread.

Castlelough · 12/06/2013 18:08

I'll be back later to catch up, but I just HAD to post this: my DH washed up the dishes Shock Shock !!!!!
This is a very, very rare event!!!

PMPY thanks for your MFP invite! Toffee are you toffeechocolate? ... Hope so ...Blush
