Is June the new January? - the Fledgling Flyers are doing their flaming best

pushmepullyou · 31/05/2013 21:32

Welcome old and new fledglings to the June Fledgling FLYers thread! Smile

Thank you very much to castlelough for leading us expertly through May - I shall try not to be too haphazard with June, although I make no promises Wink

If you're overwhelmed by clutter and general household grub then join us as we (loosely) follow the step-by-step Flylady housekeeping system or languish in the naughty corner hoping to do better tomorrow Grin

As usual, we will be following the Flylady three-pronged approach:

  1. Baby-steps (a daily step to establish routines)
  2. Then baby-steps + 15 mins daily decluttering
  3. (And once decluttered) babysteps + daily missions and maybe even detailed cleaning in the weekly zones

For more information have a look here, although to avoid a cluttered inbox, we advise not signing up to the Flylady emails. The basic principle is little and often and don't worry about perfection (no chance of that here!).

Don't worry if you are behind; just jump right back in and it will all come around next month again anyway!

All the links for the babysteps and missions will be posted here every day and we'll all be here to cheer each other on and chat our way through the month.

I am on MFP Trazzles but you don't want to add me. I do scary stuff Grin

Trazzletoes · 11/06/2013 17:26

Grin I do scary stuff too - but it's scary amounts of eating Grin

Swanhilda · 11/06/2013 17:52

oh dear, Playroom/telly area is looking if anything, worse.

Boys are playing darts again Shock Hopefully, ds1 will go to football before ds2 starts arguing.
Dh has gone off to some party business related, and will return with overnight guest (an old friend of his from his twenties when he first started in booktrade)

All this drinking of water is resulting in countless loo trips Grin and our loo is upstairs, so even more exercise required.
I have walked dd to piano
made bacon sandwiches for children
rung insurance to check something
Made a CBT appt finally (after a year of waiting for her to phone back, and used a different number, got through Blush difficult to explain that part of the CBT is to combat faintheartedness - first session on Friday

Dd has packed her suitcases
Ds2 has glued another 10 pheasants to sticks (paper-ones) for school fete , the original ones were too small, and the teacher photocopied them into supersized pheasants Shock

taken some more clean clothes upstairs
and some more dirty clothes downstairs

and I need to do loads of phonics with Ds2 because we are seeing his longsuffering tutor tomorrow, who keeps saying he needs to practice more.

Whoknows gosh what a bore Sad Brave ds to put up with it all, and you too. So frustrating the hanging around waiting for expert opinions.

Dietwise, I've enjoyed bacon nectarines and bananas this afternoon. Dh says I already look thinner (after two days)

Swanhilda · 11/06/2013 17:55

Doris you have inspired me; I might say boo to the house and try and plant the last petunias before some lovely rain comes down - it has been v dry here, but completely grey for 4 days.

GoingGoingGoth · 11/06/2013 18:20

Trazzles I'm on MFP too, about as erratic as I am on here, my only friend is Castle Grin I think I'm just GoingGoth on it. Am on a fast day today (after the stupid amount I ate yesterday Blush)

Well, the classes turned up today, although 1 class went home early as a couple of boys were playing up. Teachers are amazing, I would not be able to cope with 24 children, sometimes 1 is too many for me. We all got a bit soggy in the rain, but they did seem to have fun, and even better no accidents today.

elliepac · 11/06/2013 19:06

Evening all.Smile

Good but busy day at work and I got home to find DH had done all the housework plus the weeding in the front garden plus a tidy up in back garden Shock.

my ta da list is small thereforeGrin but:-

Washing on
Putting away
Dinner cooked
Washing up
Packed lunches made
Uniform sorted for tomorrow

Those of you on MFP my username is the same as my mn name. Feel free to addSmile. pmpy you know how we ignore chb's long lists because they're not normal.......you have to do exactly the same on MFP. She doesn't put stuff on all the time but when she does she's done skating and worked off my entire weeks calorie allowance in one skating session. WinkGrin. I repeat, not normal (note to chb you know I love you reallySmile).

Engelsemama · 11/06/2013 20:05

Catching up but by bit. Amazing how much I can miss on this thread in just 2 days!

Mercury I wouldgo crazy if Dh threw out stuff I actually used (who am I kidding, our house is drowning in his junk and paperwork). Reminds me thst a few years back my df and db threw out my mum's best frying pan as it looked dirty then didn,t tell her till after tgr dustbin men had come. She was livid and threatebed to go into my dad's shit-tip garage and start chucking his tools.

Good to see you castle .

Zoo was fab. I just need to accept that with a toddler I am never going to get any work .done at home unless dh is home and l lock myself away. Ds can cope with me doing housework in small chunks but otherwise he gets attention dtarved and really naughty. I yhimk once J accept that I will be a lot hsppier snd enjoy my days off with him.

Sorry for awful typos...new tablet driving me crazy!

Engelsemama · 11/06/2013 20:11

Trazzles I also eat scary amounts of food which is why I'm ignoring my mfp as it seems to think I should be able to exist on 1300 calories and I'm just not buying it Grin

Have just been for a run but am never going to get any fitter or slimmer by having a beer after EVERY training session!

NarkyNamechanger · 11/06/2013 20:17

I've done bog all today which is awful considering I had 3 hours off in the middle of the day. Cleaner is coming in the morning so need to get th place tidied up.

15 minute rush
Take rubbish out
Hang washing
Water dead baskets
Spray weed killer on driveway
Put load of laundry in machine.

Be back soon!

NarkyNamechanger · 11/06/2013 20:37

Done, and feel Bit better!

ToffeeWhirl · 11/06/2013 20:37

Trazzles - I have just started MFP and have all of three friends (very significant and important friends, mind you Wink). My MFP name is ToffeeChocolate, if you want to find me.

Well done on coping with work today!

Took ToffeeKitten to the vet this afternoon. The vet wants to do further investigations because kitty is still losing weight Sad. He thinks it might be his liver or kidneys and mentioned possible liver shunt. Am keeping all this from DS1, who will be distraught if he knows anything serious is up with his beloved kitten. We really didn't need this to happen to DS1, to be honest, but hopefully it will all turn out ok and kitty will be fine.

DS1 said today he loved his kitten so much he'd even give up his XBox for him. So that's serious.

Have DS1's first appointment with new psychologist tomorrow morning. Cross fingers that she will be good.

elliepac · 11/06/2013 20:40

I am indeed sure your 3 friends are significant and important toffeeWinkGrin.

superfluouscurves · 11/06/2013 21:28

Toffee oh no - hope kitten pulls through. Hope it recovers before ds1 realises anything wrong and hope all goes well with new psych appt tomorrow.

Whoknows good luck at hospital - sorry your ds has to have bone manipulated tomorrow - can't be nice for either of you having to anticipate that

Trazzles/Engels/Goth/Lilleth - anyone else who is interested. I'm on MFP too under Sanguinechompa. [Ellie please look away - don't read next couple of sentences or you will despair!] If you somehow go to friends and ask to be my friend, then I will send you an e-mail saying I will, or something like that Grin (Ellie very kindly explained to me in detail how this worked a couple of days back, but er, between ourselves, I am still not entirely sure about it tbh Blush) Anyway, the friends groups is private (I think/hope) so you have to change your profile so that you only share your info with us, if you want to keep it private that is. I think that's roughly it Grin Come on over anyway and check out how I constantly exceed my daily limits and do no exercise!!!

Engels thank you for saying that you are eating scary amounts of food - that comment has saved my life today. I feel very down and guilty because I've been eating stupid things that I don't even like such as licorice allsorts, and things that I do like such as salami sandwiches on top of usual (healthy but substantial) meals today.

I'm definitely over-eating because I'm anxious/stressed which sounds ridiculous with only one quarter of a job and only one child and an intermittent cleaner and a fortnightly ironing lady I know, but there we are.

On the good side, rather bad school situation from yesterday between teacher and three pupils (one of whom was dd) has been swiftly and imaginatively resolved by dynamic new young headmistress who instigated a kind of "resolution" meeting between them all. Which I thought was quite enlightened saying it was for 9/10 yr olds and given the old fashioned nature of the system here.

On the down side, dh had promised faithfully to be here tomorrow and on the basis of that promise, we had resolved to finish several important/urgent house and legal/family related things which are stressing me out. But he has just informed me that he has to go away on emergency business trip (third trip this month) and everything is off. And he has awful cold so shouldn't be travelling. I am more disappointed than this one incident merits, because this sort of thing is cumulative ifyswim. Had to cancel all plans [again]. Getting to the point where I daren't make any frankly ...not joint ones anyway Sad

Engels hope you can arrive at some sort of work/Fly/toddler balance - can't be easy

Swan congrats at low carbing and extremely well done for making appt!!! And treble bravo for negotiating scary junction!!!! Arf at multiplying/expanding pheasants!!

Arf at Bitchy's now legendary MFP scariness!! Grin

A very warm welcome back Consils¨what a stylish list: involving asparagus, pansies and panama hats!! Smile

[proffers vapour rub to Doris]

Trazzles great that you are back at work - hope return not too onerous - was wondering how you are getting on

Goth love Louth! Parents nearly retired there at one point...

Congrats on decluttering/Flying high Jdub and katandkit

Big waves to Pushme Castle Feetheart Pa Blue Just Honu Narky and everyone else!!

G'night all!

Links for 12th June

It's June 12th and the baby step is deleting your flylady emails. Most of us probably don't need this one!

We're still in zone 3 and the missions are to clean out the medicine cabinet and the DC sock draw the flight plan is here.

Wednesday is anti procrastination day. Not sure what to give up procrastinating tomorrow as I have meetings in Cheltenham all day so it's another big travelling day here.

[Blush] in naughty corner need to get back on track pox through me off course

pushmepullyou · 11/06/2013 22:24

Hooray Smile. I can't work out how to search for people by user name only through fb or by email. What am I doing wrong?

OP posts:
elliepac · 11/06/2013 22:29

Are you on desktop or app. On desktop if you go to community and then, if i remember correctly, click on find user (or something similar) and a list of random users will come up but at the top is a space where you can type username in. I think. I use the app on my iphone and it's much easier!

pushmepullyou · 11/06/2013 22:31

On the app, but I can't find a community bit....

OP posts:
Trazzletoes · 11/06/2013 22:56

Right, I think I've asked to be friends with everyone on MFP... Someone let me know if it works!

I'm traztop anyway.

Had lovely date night with DH topping off a good first (half) day at work. Unfortunately DM then called to say she has given J tap water by accident. We mustn't do that as it carries a bug that could make him seriously ill/ kill him.

I want to cry. DH is upset. I can only imagine now this is going to result in no more time for us together. DM looks after j the day and a half per week I'm at work and I can't stop that now. I need to work but how... Aaaaaaaaarrrerrrgggggggghhhhhhhhh!

Trazzletoes · 11/06/2013 22:57

Date night effectively ruined anyhow Sad
